Re: Talking Point: What Does The Bungie Divorce From Activision Blizzard Mean For Nintendo?

WOLF13

@clvr absolutely. Design your own bounty hunter. Pick up bounties and hunting targets down. Working together in strikes and raids with Ridley etc as bosses. I realize Nintendo’s innovation has been poor lately and many fans just want ports, but it’s not that big of a stretch.
It can be so much more than Destiny. Nintendo should lead the way in creating fun online experiences.

@westman98
It underperformed in Activisions eyes, yes. Disastrous flop? Selling millions of copies at launch isn’t a disaster. It outperformed Fortnite that month and every other title. Activision wants COD sales and that’s not going to happen.
Metroid Prime could be adapted into a Destiny model. Not sure if you’ve played Destiny, but it’s not a straight forward shooter.

Re: Feature: Nintendo's 2018: A Remarkable Year In Review

@carlos82 That’s why it was difficult for me to get excited about Smash. It’s more of the same with not that many new sights to see. Nintendo’s innovation was flat this year. Single player games? I’m hoping you owned another system in 2018. Switch is new so it can’t compete with PS4 development cycle. Nintendo can make me turn off Red Dead or Spider-Man or God of War etc. But Nintendo titles in 2018 aren’t on the same level.

@MoonKnight7
It also denotes quality and the highest production costs. None of those titles required the production costs of a AAA game.
My point was Nintendo didn’t deliver the highest level of gaming for most of their titles. Sure, some would say Pokémon is the peak of gaming. But in general, most would disagree. I said AAA experience... like wow this is a great game. Maybe not the best term.

Re: Feature: Nintendo's 2018: A Remarkable Year In Review

@Quarth
Pokémon might sell millions but it’s not a AAA gaming experience. Reviews of those games average 7s. They’re not in the same category as God or War, Spider-Man, Red Dead 2 etc (yes I realize “Nintendo only” fans think these games are boring and awful). Moss is better than anything Nintendo did this year. Nintendo should pave the way for family online gaming. Innovation is lacking at the big N.

@TheFanatic
It’s not a diss. It’s called the ultimate version. There’s more characters, stages and modes. It’s not the next step for the series... just more of the same. It’s a AAA title... but it’s also the only AAA title Nintendo released this year.

Last day of 2018 and haven’t bought one Switch game this year. I have a years worth of systems updates since I haven’t turned it on. Still might get Smash tho.
I started Moss yesterday and throught ... this is the experience Nintendo should be leading. Instead we get a lot of ports. Smash ultimate is just shinier version of the last game.
Looking forward to Luigi mansion 3 and Metroid in 2019.

@electrolite77 which if you read my post, I said. I said they are a business like everybody else. They aren’t some special company that cares about their fans. They care about money. As does Sony, Microsoft. They aren’t charging extra for these ports because of expensive development costs. They are doing it because they can get their fans to pay whatever. It’s like at the movie theater.... popcorn costs movie goer $10 a bucket or more and costs the theater pennies. If the movie theater had to sell it at the store with competition, they would have to bring the price way down. Gouge the consumer any way you can.

Re: Video: Take A Look At New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe In This Introduction Trailer

I never understand fan boys of any system because these companies only care about your wallet. Nintendo is a business and if they can overcharge you, they will. If somebody only owns a Switch, they don’t get to decide between a Nintendo port and Red Dead 2 (even if they did it would be a inferior version of RD2).
Nintendo has a kiddie image, but they see their fans no differently than the other companies. Fans love Nintendo. Nintendo loves your money.

Re: Analysts Believe Nintendo Will Fall Short Of Its Target To Ship 38 Million Switch By March 2019

WOLF13

It’s been over a year since I’ve turned on my Switch. There are too many new games to play on other systems for me to play ports on Switch. My Switch is for AAA Nintendo titles, and it’s been over a year since we’ve seen one. Unfortunately I’m not a big Smash fan, and the new game is pretty much the same game we’ve been playing for years. Luigi’s Mansion 3 and Metroid will probably be the reason I dust off the Switch.

Re: Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa On Missing Analyst Estimates: “The Holiday Season Battle Begins Now”

WOLF13

I realized when I bought the Switch that there would be a couple games I year that I’d want. Unfortunately, there’s nothing this year I want. I was going to buy Smash, but I won’t play it much. I haven’t turned on my Switch in 2018. It’s hard to stop playing great games on other systems for decent games on Switch (and I’m not wasting time with ports). I think Luigi’s Mansion 3 will be my next game.

Re: Soapbox: Why I Prefer Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate To World

WOLF13

I don’t know how people have time to play all these ports of games they’ve already played. Sure, there’s some exceptions of games that are special to you. But Nintendo Port seems to be a better name for the Switch. It’s portable ports... and In the case of Generations, it’s a portable port of a portable game.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's E3 2018 Went Big On Smash Bros. But Left Us Wanting More

WOLF13

Where’s the innovation Nintendo? Sequels are great but most of these don’t move the needle. Smash will be very similar to the other games before it.
Why can’t Nintendo lead the way on how online games should be played ?
I haven’t bought a Switch game since Odyssey. I might pick up Smash but I’ve grown tired of the series. Metroid would have made up for a bad showing, but as is, they should have just skipped E3.
