@sixrings they don’t unless Nintendo does it. I don’t want a new Switch. I’m not buying Red Dead 2 on it because it will still be behind all the other versions. I want new games. Not ports. Not HD sequels that add a coat of paint.
@Rhaoulos Yeah and Division 2 is actually really good. Not many real reviews are out because the game is huge and it was built around the end game. Reviews will be good. Division launched on Tues and Division 2 launched on Friday.
I buy Nintendo consoles for the top tier first party games. I’ve bought two games for the Switch. I knew going in that I would buy the great 1-2 first party games a year. I expected to have more by now, but unfortunately for me, Nintendo isn’t focusing on the franchises I want. I don’t have time for ports. I’ll still buy the next system and let it sit for months on end until the next great first party game is released.
Nintendo is out of the business of competing with Sony and Microsoft horse power. The next Switch will have ports of PS4 games. I’d love a Nintendo console that is at least as powerful as the top console, but those days are gone. I just want more top tier Nintendo games. Not the second tier games that most would agree are 7s. I want them to take their franchises to the next level and not hd rehashes. Mario Kart 8 did that (5 years ago). BOTW did that. Most everything else has been flat in innovation.
PS4 pro struggles with VR as is. And any hiccups make it a bad experience. Anybody who has played Moss or Astrobots understands what Nintendo could do with VR. But there’s just no way they can pull it off with the Switch. It might be a simple introduction to VR for kids.
Also, can people take responsibility for themselves ? Don’t pay for micro transactions. Play something else. The market will adjust. If people pay too much for ports, then companies will take your money.
@Spudtendo it’s a knock on all companies, Chump. Nintendo is no different. Some people go to sleep hugging their Yoshi pillow thinking Nintendo cares about them lol. Some hug their master chief pillow. It’s all the same.
If you are a Friday fan, I’d definitely pick it up. It was made by a few people so it doesn’t have the polish big games have. The detail from the movies is great. I prefer being a counselor. Play with friends.
@Evilworm I think it’s just aimed at a different audience. Unfortunately for me, Nintendo has chosen to focus on franchises I don’t care about. I’ve been waiting for Metroid for many years, but it’s not a top focus for Nintendo. It’s been 5 years since we’ve seen Mario Kart. 5 years since a Donkey Kong (I’d rather see a 3D Kong this time). I’d love a Diddy Kong racing game. Wave Race. Kid Icarus. Start a new franchise adventure game.
But Nintendo’s audience lines up for straight ports and are willing to pay full price. Nintendo innovation has been severely lacking on Switch. I’m hoping Luigi’s Mansion takes that series to the next level or this year for Switch will be a bust for me.
I was going to play it today on it’s birthday. Apparently if you don’t turn it on for over a year, it won’t turn on at all.
Anybody else have trouble turning it on after a long period of time ?
@Balta666
Are you saying price dropped for God of War and Spiderman because they aren’t good games? Many would argue they are better than anything Nintendo released in the past year.
@Balta666 Nintendo barely touched Mario Bros U or MK. Last of Us looks a lot different. The third parties comment was about competition. Nintendo really only competes against itself. You get outdated or lesser ports as the main competition. Lowering price can give the consumer an impression that the game is worth less or not doing well. Nintendo also uses shortages to make consumers think they gotta have it. It’s worked great for them.
@Balta666 Last of Us was remastered at 49.99 Nintendo would absolutely drop their price of ports if they didn’t sell. There’s an illusion Nintendo creates by keeping their prices high. If Nintendo was a 3rd party, they’d be dropping prices too.
@Balta666 Nintendo can charge full price because there’s little competition. So if Last of Us released on PS4 as a straight port, it should still cost $60?
@Agramonte I don’t see anything in the roadmap that will adequately address the main issues. There is no Vault of Glass coming. The mission types arent changing. The AI won’t change. A stronghold is basically a strike and they need many more. The loot system would have to be completely redone. If they couldn’t make a complete game in 6 years, I don’t think months will help.
@AxeltheBuizel I get the experience they are looking for. Because they love flying around and the graphics, they are trying to Will the game into being great. I wish Nintendo would make a game like Anthem. It would be a complete and polished game. Redefine what a loot shooter is. But they really aren’t offering much new lately.
@saintayu I thought Red Dead 2 was amazing. The story was incredibly moving. I played through entire story and can’t remember any glitches. Yes, everybody is brainwashed by critics.
@Shellcore I think gameplay was good at first. But the AI is pretty bad. The guns are very similar and the loot is meh. The game basically has 3 strikes you need to do over and over. Imagine Destiny launching with just 3 strikes.
@Balta666 I for one, would like new titles on the chart. I played them on WiiU. I have no problem with ports. But it seems the new content doesn’t match the ports. Plus I don’t like that Nintendo charges full price.
Definitely skip Anthem for now. There’s absolutely no end game, and I can’t see that changing much anytime soon. Plus it will be discounted as sales fail to reach their goals. Developers shouldn’t be rewarded for half a game, and this practice will continue as long as gamers pay. I’d say the same about full priced ports, but some gamers can’t find anything else to play and must buy it today. If they would wait, the market would adjust.
@Heavyarms55 you are paying more because they can get away with it. Switch owners will pay full price for a port. There are mobile games that cost more on Switch.
@WiltonRoots I don’t think the number of people buying means it’s not taking advantage of fans. A lot of people buy popcorn at the movies too. And yes, consumers allow this. If they would wait, the price would drop.
@WiltonRoots they have already recouped development costs on all these games. They sold enough on WiiU to do that and more. Nintendo has low costs to begin with. Charging $60 for Super Mario U is gouging fans. Sony and Microsoft would too if they could, but there are too many great competing games. Nintendo knows they could put a turd in a box and some fanboys would pay $60 and thank Nintendo for allowing them to own a turd.
@kukabuksilaks I thought BOTW was amazing in many ways. Going around the world was a great experience. After time has passed, I don’t think about revisiting it. The main 4 dungeons were pretty disappointing. I liked the shrines except for the repeating battle ones. I really hated the weapon system. They were the most brittle weapons in the history of gaming.

They should ask their partners to not charge full price for ports.
This move isn’t to protect their fans. Its to protect themselves.

@MoonKnight7 you can set your preference spawn as Jason, counselor or either. 8 people play and not everybody wants Jason.
