Re: Talking Point: Should Nintendo Be Concerned About Google's Play For Gamers?

WOLF13

I buy Nintendo consoles for the top tier first party games. I’ve bought two games for the Switch. I knew going in that I would buy the great 1-2 first party games a year. I expected to have more by now, but unfortunately for me, Nintendo isn’t focusing on the franchises I want. I don’t have time for ports.
I’ll still buy the next system and let it sit for months on end until the next great first party game is released.

Re: Media Create Boss Says Switch Will Have A Seven Year Life Cycle, Sales To Grow In Third Year

Nintendo is out of the business of competing with Sony and Microsoft horse power. The next Switch will have ports of PS4 games. I’d love a Nintendo console that is at least as powerful as the top console, but those days are gone.
I just want more top tier Nintendo games. Not the second tier games that most would agree are 7s. I want them to take their franchises to the next level and not hd rehashes. Mario Kart 8 did that (5 years ago). BOTW did that. Most everything else has been flat in innovation.

Re: Anniversary: Nintendo Switch Launched Two Years Ago Today

WOLF13

@Evilworm I think it’s just aimed at a different audience. Unfortunately for me, Nintendo has chosen to focus on franchises I don’t care about. I’ve been waiting for Metroid for many years, but it’s not a top focus for Nintendo. It’s been 5 years since we’ve seen Mario Kart. 5 years since a Donkey Kong (I’d rather see a 3D Kong this time). I’d love a Diddy Kong racing game. Wave Race. Kid Icarus. Start a new franchise adventure game.
But Nintendo’s audience lines up for straight ports and are willing to pay full price. Nintendo innovation has been severely lacking on Switch. I’m hoping Luigi’s Mansion takes that series to the next level or this year for Switch will be a bust for me.

Re: UK Charts: Smash Bros. Ultimate Returns To Top Ten But EA's Anthem Takes Top Prize

@Balta666 Nintendo barely touched Mario Bros U or MK. Last of Us looks a lot different.
The third parties comment was about competition. Nintendo really only competes against itself. You get outdated or lesser ports as the main competition.
Lowering price can give the consumer an impression that the game is worth less or not doing well. Nintendo also uses shortages to make consumers think they gotta have it. It’s worked great for them.

Re: UK Charts: Smash Bros. Ultimate Returns To Top Ten But EA's Anthem Takes Top Prize

@Agramonte I don’t see anything in the roadmap that will adequately address the main issues. There is no Vault of Glass coming. The mission types arent changing. The AI won’t change. A stronghold is basically a strike and they need many more. The loot system would have to be completely redone. If they couldn’t make a complete game in 6 years, I don’t think months will help.

Re: UK Charts: Smash Bros. Ultimate Returns To Top Ten But EA's Anthem Takes Top Prize

Definitely skip Anthem for now. There’s absolutely no end game, and I can’t see that changing much anytime soon. Plus it will be discounted as sales fail to reach their goals. Developers shouldn’t be rewarded for half a game, and this practice will continue as long as gamers pay. I’d say the same about full priced ports, but some gamers can’t find anything else to play and must buy it today. If they would wait, the market would adjust.

Re: New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe Japanese Sales Prove Plumber Port Profitability

WOLF13

@WiltonRoots they have already recouped development costs on all these games. They sold enough on WiiU to do that and more. Nintendo has low costs to begin with.
Charging $60 for Super Mario U is gouging fans. Sony and Microsoft would too if they could, but there are too many great competing games. Nintendo knows they could put a turd in a box and some fanboys would pay $60 and thank Nintendo for allowing them to own a turd.

@kukabuksilaks I thought BOTW was amazing in many ways. Going around the world was a great experience.
After time has passed, I don’t think about revisiting it. The main 4 dungeons were pretty disappointing. I liked the shrines except for the repeating battle ones. I really hated the weapon system. They were the most brittle weapons in the history of gaming.
