I'm really psyched to hear that there's a C64 plug n play coming out. This is the first I'm hearing of it. I grew up with one before I had an NES. Some of the games on there were superior versions of games that came out on NES (Lifeforce, Spy Hunter, Paperboy, Qbert, etc). Last Ninja was also one of the better games on there (another isometric game while we're on that subject.)
Of course, there was also 'Impossible Mission'....."AaaaaaaaaaaaAaaaaaaaaaAaaaaaaaaaAaaaaaaaaaaaaAaaaaaaaaaa"
Judging from the pictures, Lumo isn't exactly isometric. There's depth in the picture. Boxes that are further away look smaller than the ones that are closer. I believe it's more of a natural 3D perspective than an isometric one.
I didn't see any great Nintendo deals for this year. The New 3DS (non-XL w/faceplates) that I got last year was an awesome deal for $99. That was a very uncommon item here in the U.S. immediately after that.
@cloud36426
That's a decent deal, thanks for the heads up.
I scored a Samsung 128GB Evo Plus for $37 on sale at Best Buy last weekend. Now, the price is back up to $100. Dang, I should've bought a second one. The prices fluctuate so much on these microSD cards. 64gb for $14? I'll buy 2!
Well, this makes the future of the Switch a bit more reassuring. Some ports are just not working out for it, unfortunately. I had such high hopes for RiME to be a great game with beautiful visuals and I am sad that it ended up looking like a Wii game with terrible optimization. For now, I have no other system that will play that game as my PC is slightly outdated for it.
I'm impressed with how the Switch handles Skyrim. I was afraid that it would run at less than 720p, but it makes it to 900p when docked...very good! I put Skyrim on my X-mas list, so I'll have to wait and see if I get it. If not, I'll be buying it the day after.
I had that same issue for a couple of days and it now is working. I'm not 100% sure, but there was a patch for the game that popped up yesterday and it may have fixed that issue.
I've been playing this game, and I quite like it. The technical hiccups happen just before you go into a brawl. It's not a deal breaker because it doesn't happen DURING the brawl and I'm ok with that.
But I AM seriously having issues with the 'Confirm'(B), 'Cancel'(A), and 'Interact'(A) button setup. I wish they would've at least made the 'Interact' and 'Confirm' buttons the same.
I'm no game reviewer, but I probably would've put NOA2 on the same tier as Senran Kagura (a brawler with gratuitous pool and bikini scenes). But NOA2 has a darker and (dare I say) serious story and the gameplay has a bit more substance as you are required to plan out your missions based on the double time restraints.
This was a great and honest review @zipmon. My personal tastes fit the game, so I like it. 'Good' game, but the dismissible performance problems prevented it from being a 'Great' one.
This is a free table on most applications. It is also my favorite one. Anyone would be missing out if they didn't at least download this awesome freebie.
Love the green/pink as well, but I wish they would make the reverse matching pair like they did with the red/blue. I have all the Joy-con colors (with matching straps) and Pro Controllers released worldwide until now. I saw the Mario Red ones on the Nintendo Direct and flipped the bird at my TV screen because the pair only comes with the Mario/Switch bundle. I will get them as soon as they are available otherwise and hopefully with matching straps.
I think I spent just about as much as you did on games this year, but I'm geared towards retro-gaming and almost strictly Nintendo consoles and handhelds. (I also have a PSP and Vita collection that I'm building. Getting Ys VIII for X-mas). I added greatly to my SNES collection earlier this year. That can get super expensive, but the most I spent on a game was $75 for a copy of Super Mario RPG w/box.
I skipped on a few amiibos because I thought that some of them did the same thing. But now I'm noticing that some of the games need specific ones to work. For example, the DK amiibo for the 'Smash' series is fine as an alternate to the 'Super Mario' series for some games, but only the 'Super Mario' series amiibo works on 'Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions' for 3DS. Now I wish I had both. So, now I'm only a few amiibos short because I thought they would be duplicates. I at least have all the characters (minus BoxBoy).
BTW, you're looking to get ALL the amiibos? Did you get the Skylanders ones? Don't forget the Dark Editions. You have to buy the Skylanders Supercharger Dark Edition starter sets for both the Wii and Wii U if you want those (probably being sold loose on Ebay, though).
Yeah, it looks like a Warriors game, but with a lot more story and RPG elements. I'm already sold on that. But this Holiday BOOM of games coming out is forcing me to make sacrifices, lol. Having a hard time making decisions.
Well, I'm at the comfort of playing for a couple hours a day and maybe a little more on the weekends. But I am a collector, only at a humble 1100+ games.
Yeah, I've spent thousands on Switch stuff since I got one in June. I even went as far as importing a set of green and pink joy-cons and straps (that pink strap was STUPID expensive, damn).
At this point, I have to take a step back. The list of games is far too great for my wallet. I had to skip on the Special Edition of FE Warriors and just got a regular copy to save money. I only payed $40 on Amazon because I pre-ordered it and used some of my earned points as well. But still, I got Chrom and Tiki amiibos, too. If Mario Odyssey wasn't coming out so soon after, I would have bought the New 3DS version of FE Warriors as well.
I'm eyeballing Nights Of Azure 2 right now, but wait...Xenoblade 2 and an awesome looking Pro Controller for it, Doom, Skyrim, Sonic Forces, Oddysey Wedding Amiibos, 4 new Breath of the Wild amiibos, Shovel Knight amiibos, another River City game for 3DS, the Mario Red Joy-cons, oh...and a ton of e-shop games are looking pretty good, too...
I've been reading all the comments in the reviews with all the great games that came out for Switch (and 3DS) this month. Most of us are wishing we had enough money and time to buy and play all these games. Too many at once breaking our banks, not enough time to play them all! Add amiibos to the mix and we can't even afford to eat ramen noodles.
This isn't the first Run N Gun game by WayForward. They also developed Contra 4 for DS. Great review! I'm a fan of the developer.
But they've made some stinkers, too. Smurfs 2 had really bad reviews. Scooby‑Doo & Looney Tunes Cartoon Universe for 3DS didn't even get a review on NLife....yeah, it's that bad. Glad to see that Mummy Demastered didn't fall with those two. I was a bit worried because it's another movie license.
The Switch is the first cartridge based system I've ever owned where the save files don't save on the cartridge.
Yeah, the non-transferable save files in such a limited space really scares me the most. I hope I never have to delete any of my save files just to make room for more. Totally absurd! You really have to ask "What were they thinking?". But, I have faith. There HAS to be an upcoming update that will fix this.
Glad to know that I'm not the only one who thought so. Nice to know there are some other Metalheads on here. This review made me think that we're a dying breed. Describing a distorted guitar as 'screeching' makes it sound unwelcomed and annoying as if this guy had to suddenly cover his ears while playing the game. I've been a Metal guitarist for 3 decades. That's his opinion, I guess. Maybe he likes Country music, I don't know.
Screeching guitars? I loved the Hyrule Warriors soundtrack with its Heavy Metal style orchestrations, yet that also got some negativity. Are there any Metalheads in the NintendoLife staff? Go listen to some Helloween.
Anyhoo, I can't wait to play this game, which I have coming in the mail along with the two new amiibos.
I do recall the late President of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata, taking a HUGE 50% pay cut during that time so that his fellow employees could still keep the company going.
100,000,000 sales for the Wii. 13,000,000 for the WiiU. What happened to the other 87,000,000? No, it wasn't Nintendo who turned their backs on us. They were just playing the hand they were dealt.
Wow! I thought this wasn't going to be possible. I am really surprised that they pulled it off. This has to be a straight port of the game instead of emulating it. Dreamcast emulation is still too glitchy.
Got the legacy edition version of Samus Returns, got the Amiibos, got the Samus special edition 3DS, and the keychain that you get for preordering the game at GameStop. I went all out.
I think Nintendo knew how to draw more money out of this Metroid fan. Those numbers are only one-sided.
I bought the game last week so that I could have something to play with a friend. It's a no frills beat-em-up just like the other Double Dragon games. I did enjoy Neon a lot more, but that felt more like a River City Ransom game (although both games are derivative of the Kunio Kun series). '4' is still fun with a friend and good for the nostalgia. I'd give it at least a 6.
I agree in thinking that this update is just planting a seed for the ultimate demise of MiiVerse and all it's attachments to SMM. I'm curious to know if the Super Mario Maker Bookmark site is going to collapse as well.
SMM was my favorite video game ever. I already mourned its death when Nintendo stopped WiiU production last November. It was inevitable that online functions were going to become defunct. So sorry for everyone who was a part of its huge online community.
I had a lot of fun making music levels with pixel art. Each of my levels took me about 20 hours to make (average). It was worth it for all the comments (and stars) I received for them. So sorry to see that go to waste.

That's probably the first in video game history to have an isometric view. Also the first to have shadows.
