Zerodiv has confirmed that it is bringing the cult shooter Zero Gunner 2 to the Switch eShop "sooner rather than later".
Originally released in arcades in 2001 on Sega's Naomi system, the game was ported to the Dreamcast in the same year but never received a release outside of Japan. It is unique in the world of shmups because the player controls a helicopter and can angle their direction of fire during gameplay.
Zerobiv has also confirmed that entries in the Sengoku, Gunbird and Strikers 1945 series are on the way to Switch as well. The publisher previously released Strikers 1945 and Gunbarich on the console.
Thanks to EmirParkreiner for the tip!

Nice, one of my all time fav shooters.
Incredible. I remember finding this on the Dreamcast and having an absolute blast with it, I'd even go as far as putting it in my top 5 Dreamcast games.
Is this post from a parallel universe? I've never heard of anything mentioned in it except the Dreamcast and the country of Japan.
I have this on the dreamcast it's amazing will definitely get this on the switch
Love the Dreamcast! So many hidden gems, especially in the arcade shoot-em-up genre; it does my heart good to see at least a few of them making their way to the Switch.
Still got zero gunner 2, love it! I'll pick it up for switch too ofc. Looking forward to more Psikyo goodness!
Looks fantastic. On a day I am bummed about Amazon FAILING to my pre-order for Sine Mora EX (pre-ordered 07/21/17 for the record), this raises my Shmup spirits!
This is great news. I need a stand that allows me to easily stand the Switch up on its end now (although I'd be slightly worried about it toppling over when standing on a seat-back table on a wobbly train).
Cannon spike/ gun spike would be nice but can't see Capcom going along with that even tho it's developed by psikyo
YES!!! YES!!!!
ALL MY FREAKIN YESSSS!!!!!!!!!!
@bluedogrulez Best Buy failed my pre-order as well. Maybe they just canceled the physical release.
This looks great!
@BionicDodo on the dreamcast it fills the screen without Tate mode not sure if that's how they will do it on the switch but can't see why not
This is a great development. I hope the Switch will become this generations' shmup console like the TG16/Saturn/Dreamcast/360 were in the past.
I'm also looking forward to Danmaku Unlimited 3 on the Switch.
@Gs69 Interesting, thanks. I've never played this one. In general if they're going to keep releasing shmups with tate mode I will need that stand though!
oh yes, I love this one!!
Oh yes! Day one for me!!!
OH YEA!!! ALL MINE!!
Very happy to hear more arcade titles of this ilk are on the way. Being able to play the colourful Gunbird with Switch on its side will be eye candy heaven. Be amazing if we could get some other big arcade names (Capcom, Konami, Taito, Data East, Cave, Technos et. al to bring more of their games to the Switch too. So many wonderful shoot 'em ups and other genres like beat 'em ups of the past I'd love to play again on the Switch.
I'm cramming dollars into my Switch's game card slot right this second!
I'd buy it
Keep them coming! I'll buy them all. I like my portable mini arcade.
@bluedogrulez I'm thinking that the physical version of Sine Mora EX must have delayed some as I received an email this morning from Best Buy saying that my pre-order had been delayed too.
Amazing! Such a wonderful game, hope to see more DC era shmups ported to the Swiitch! They have similar power, after all. Hahaha.
Looks like a fun game but will they patch up the graphics? It's a little long in the tooth now.
@Amsterdamsters: Thanks . . . I'm a little bitter at Amazon for not filling my Splatoon 2 order on time and then whiffing on my Nyko stand, but maybe this one isn't their fault. Hope your Best Buy copy arrives sooner rather than later!
@insertcoin2play: That would be unfortunate! I am going to hold out hope for a physical release because the major sites are still taking orders . . . but who knows.
@Lroy don't forget Sega!! 😜
I love seeing more shmups on switch. Give us everything with tate mode.
One of my favourite games ever ^^ Oh man...I BLOODY LOVE MY SWITCH! XXX
So exciting, Zero Gunner 2 is one of my favorite Dreamcast shmups. Either Gunbird is appreciating, they're both great. Really hoping that the Sengoku game will be Sengoku Blade, as that's probably my favorite Psikyo shmup.
Really, I'll buy the entire Psikyo catalogue if Zerodiv releases it.
@joey302 Doh! Of course SEGA too, lol! Actually, SEGA have been quite good at getting their arcade titles onto modern systems. The 3D classics range for 3DS for example is excellent. But of course, I'd welcome a host of SEGA Arcade games on the Switch!
@BionicDodo If you have 3DS Kid Icarus, the stand that comes with that game works perfectly.
Woo-hoo! I play Strikers 1945 almost daily on the Switch.
However, my one complaint, and ZeroDiv needs to address this for all its games: we need online leaderboards. That would make these ports perfect!
@Lroy maybe all these companies are waiting on Nintendo to launch the service but if I'm them seeing what Hamster and now ZeroDiv is doing I wouldn't wait at all. I'd get those classics up there and collect my $$$!
@joey302 Presumably the question of who owns the rights to these arcade games is one possible barrier to getting them on Switch but like you said, I'd urge all of these companies who can put arcade games onto the Switch eShop to do so. As long as the pricing doesn't get ridiculous (looking at you Namco) then I'll buy most if not all of them. Half of the games on my Switch as it stands are arcade titles. Switch has given Neo-Geo library a new lease of life. Really a wonderful thing, hoping SNK (and the original developers of Strikers 1945, Gunbarich) are basking in the superlatives old and new fans are giving their back catalogue thanks to Hamster, Zerodiv and Switch.
Wow! I thought this wasn't going to be possible. I am really surprised that they pulled it off. This has to be a straight port of the game instead of emulating it. Dreamcast emulation is still too glitchy.
Sengoku Blade? YES!
Beautiful! Bring on those arcades!
@Amsterdamsters @bluedogrulez Just got another email saying Best Buy shipped my Sine Mora. What about you guys?
@insertcoin2play : hey, that's great news! It exists, lol. Meanwhile, in Amazon country, the crickets continue to chirp loudly.
@Lroy I'll buy all of them! Lol! I was a bit taken aback by Namco's $30 price tag and NO retail version made, but with 10 games in the collection that's $3 a pop so I just had to do it!! I can't resist any retro releases! Another company who I want to see jump on board is Warner Bros who owns all the classic Midway/Atari Games titles such as Gauntlet, San Francisco Rush, Hydro Thunder, Defender, Robotron 2084, Satans Hollow, Root Beer Tapper, Marble Madness, NARC, Rampage, Paperboy and countless others!!! Wishful thinking but would be sweeeet!! Here's hoping!! 😃
@Lroy ooops forgot about the big guy...the company who got me all hooked on video games back in the late 70s....ATARI- Centipede, Asteroids, Tempest, Black Widow, Super Breakout, Missle Command, Battlezone, Millipede, Crystal Castles and quite a few others! While the chance of these games hitting the Switch are slim, Atari did put out collection discs on PS4 and Xbox one so you never know...again wishful thinking I know lol.
Just give me some more classic fighters (looking at you capcom) and swith will be the best console I've ever owned.
With almost no shooter love on the wiiu, its great to see a good flow already on the switch.
@Nolan420 It is already out in Japan eshop.
@joey302 Wow, some classic arcade titles you reeled off there. I own quite a few arcade compilations on past systems (GameCube, Wii, DS, PSP/Vita) and they are always fun for a quick burst here and there. That's what makes the Switch such an ideal system for these vintage arcade titles. You always have it at your finger tips, certainly a lot easier and more spontaneous than me having to dig out my RetroPie to hook up to the telly once family all asleep and firing up MAME. The latter is fantastic fun and has allowed me to rediscover hundreds of arcade faves (you should certainly look into it if you haven't already) but I'd happily buy every single one for the Switch. You've a fair point about the Namco Museum collection on Switch. I think if it had a physical cart release I very likely would have bought it by now. Hoping a sale can bring the digital price under £20.
By the way, would you be up for becoming friends on Switch? Be cool to see what games you've been investing your leisure time into.
@ Nolan420
Well they mean that another entry of the Strikers 1945 series will come, either Strikers 1945 II or Strikers 1945 III (aka Strikers 1999).
@insertcoin2play: Amazon pushed back to 10/27 at least. That would make SM Odyssey, RedOut and Sine Mora all showing up at my doorstep at the same time . . . phooey. Best Buy still delivering to you?
@Lroy sure thing- haven't done that yet with anyone but sure! 😃
@EmirParkreiner Strikers 1945 Plus is also a possibility 😉
@joey302 What's your Switch friend code then buddy? Be cool to maybe play online co-op in a future game. Wish the Neo Geo games had online play. Perhaps some other Arcade Archives will in the future? If you'd rather not leave your friend code here, just click on my name and you'll find mine in my profile. Cheers.
This news is both so great and so out of left field, I wouldn't have even dreamed of it! I don't know who you are, Zerodiv, but keep this up and I will be a big fan.
Truth is, I've always been a Psyiko and Compile shmup fanboy at heart.
@bluedogrulez Yep. Arrived today, actually! Haven't fired it up yet though.
