Do you have fond memories of isometric platformers such as Knight Lore, Head Over Heels, and Alien 8? If so, Lumo might just be the game for you. This love letter to the popular isometric platformers from the '80s has received acclaim from many sources for its intuitive and engrossing play mechanics, visual style, irreverent humour and chilled out music. It could be a perfect match for the Nintendo Switch when it arrives in October as a physical retail release, along with an eShop download option.
Rising Star Games will be publishing this game from British developer Garth Noyce. With over 400 rooms across four highly stylised zones, six hidden mini-games and all kinds of wonders to uncover, Lumo aims to offer plenty of content for its price tag.

Geez louise, The switch practically has a game for everyone this holiday season. The end of the year is looking packed!
I'll be buying this for sure. So that's Steamworld Dig 2,Golf Story, Lumo and another I'm wanting but can't remember the name of. Not forgetting FIFA too. Great stuff, shame I won't get a chance to play any of them until November.
Is that cover illustration by Super Play's Wil Overton?
Looks good to me
@Pahvi its just because of the isometric viewing aspect of the levels
Isometric has no perspective.
This game has perspective.
Therefore this game is not isometric.
As I said when this was originally announced, the main character reminds me of Orko from He-Man.
Received this free with PS Plus and thought it was quite a decent game.Kind of reminded me of Landstalker for the Megadrive (which was fantastic by the way!).
Never did finish this one though,got distracted by a dozen other better games.This is a perfect fit for Switch though.
@crackafreeze well spotted... it's been a long day!
Will wait for a review or two but I am really hoping they nail this.
Kinda reminds me of 'Equinox' on the SNES. That game was super tough.
October is a very very busy month. This may be on my wish list though
Already have a Vita copy but may buy for Switch as it has a physical release. Although may wait for a while, next 2 months are pricey.
I've heard this game is kinda like Head Over Heels which got me excited and then depressed when I remembered how old I now am
I always get a Solstice (NES) vibe.
Definitely interested in this but cannot find any pre-orders on any UK sites.
Played for about an our after getting it with PS+, until I got stuck on a level. Hard for me to believe it's $29.99, seems like a $15 game I'd pick up on sale for $5. For $10 more you could get Sonic Forces, Knack 2, U4: Lost Legacy. Oh well.
Hopefully retail release is coming to Europe, can't be bothered with importing
Already have preordered
Let's just compromise and say it's isometric-ish.
I hope they have a demo...that looks like a nightmare for me.
I'm playing through HoH (again) but I'll be picking this up at some point, definitely.
@pepsiman So since isometric is also called 'pseudo-3d' does that make this 'pseudo-pseudo-3d'?
@MegaTen
I'll say that the Solstice title theme is one of, if not, the best composed piece of music on the NES.
@samuelvictor Monument Valley is isometric.
Here's a tutorial for Unity: http://www.studica.com/blog/isometric-camera-unity
@samuelvictor opengl has an orthographic projection mode.
@samuelvictor it's in opengl 1.0, maybe you missed it.
Why would we want to play an isometric platformer these days? The only reason they were ever popular in the 80's was because 3D platformers didn't exist back then. Once they were possible, they made isometric platformers completely outdated and archaic in comparison.
Now isometric perspectives still work for some genres, but platformers and adventure games aren't among them.
