Re: "Go Tell Nintendo" - Ex-Blizzard President Responds After Xbox Calls Exclusives "Antiquated"

Varkster

I think the main reason here is inflated budgets and companies like Microsoft and Sony performing on a debt-based financial strategy, where they essentially loan money each year to make the projects that are as massive as they are, to then recoup those sales they would need to go to other platforms to sell their games.

Nintendo is immune to this because most of their games are developed inhouse and they do not employ nearly as many contract workers for each project. They also do not do debt, their profits are kept in the company. This is the sole reason why Nintendo's strategy allowed them to stay afloat even after some consoles that heavily underperformed. They can release consoles that underperform for the next century and still survive as a company.

I like their business strategy, even if it means we probably won't be seeing games from Nintendo that cost $100 million anytime soon, but if that means a higher frequency of quality releases and a safe future for the console ecosystem, I'm for it.

This is why console exclusives still work for Nintendo, they built their ecosystem for many decades and it just continues growing, so it's profitable to make their games exclusive. It simply wouldnt work for anybody else in the business.

Re: UK Charts: Pokémon Legends: Z-A Is The Smallest Retail Launch Since 'Let's Go!'

@Striker21 Switch 1 game sales are on a decline, as any other console that's as old as it is.

Switch 2 console sales on the other hand gained a 300% boost in Japan alone in the week of Pokemon's release. Largest boost in console sales than any Pokemon game for Switch 1, and this is despite it being available for both consoles.

This game came before the holiday season unlike almost every other Pokemon game that launched for Switch 1. It will absolutely sell a stupid amount through the holiday and outpace Arceus worldwide.

It's notable also that Arceus came out in the heyday of the Switch's popularity.

Sorry, but your analysis reeks of "I watched a YouTuber so I think this flopped".

This game is one of the most impressive launches if you look outside of the basic sold number and actually apply some nuance and logic to it. Something severely missing in today's internet discussions.

You will be in for a rude awakening on the sales after the holidays, I suggest dropping this strange argument and let the numbers do the talking.

Re: Nintendo Reportedly Increases Switch 2 Production To 25 Million Units For Year 1

Varkster

@timp29 That's...not going to happen. Have you seen how much the subscriptions cost for the other consoles? Nintendo's subscription fee is tiny by comparison and at this point in time actually provides heaps of retro games.

It's been well known that if you buy a new console, games don't come built in for free. Been this way forever.

On the other hand, the sales are always popping off on games in the eShop, I already saw Street Fighter 6 something like 50% off the other week. I've also seen some great Switch 1 games going for about $5-10 AUD a pop, which in the US is probably closer to $3-7.

There can be other ways they give their fans something back I just don't see them ever cutting the sub fees, when they're already the massively cheaper alternative to the others.

Re: Switch 2's First Warhammer 40,000 Game Isn't The One You Might Expect

Varkster

@AverageGamer I feel like our comments are getting a bit too bloated so I'll cut down on it otherwise it just becomes tough to reply. I wasn't trying to pull a competition for who has the best gaming PC just fyi, I was just trying to attest to the fact that I am a tech enthusiast and am not just speaking from the point of view of a Switch 2 owner who games portably and nothing else.

Ultimately I think we both agree on the same points, I'm just more enthusiastic on any potential game hitting the Switch 2 and developers finding ways to cut back not detrimental to the overall experience. I was also going to bring up DW: Origins as that is a very massive scale game with huge NPC density which I'm sure will be running well (at 30) on the Switch 2. Glad you also thought of that comparison.

On Digital Foundry I'll say this, there are plenty of YouTube videos you can look up where there are examples of DF giggling like school girls about the Switch and being very wrong about every prediction and statement. They were on record saying the Switch 2 will not hold up to the Steam Deck, which at this point we know S2 slams the Deck into the ground. They did say Outlaws was too big for the Switch 2 and the compromises were going to not be worth the experience. They have recently gone on record in a podcast to say if RDR2 comes to the Switch 2 it'll look worse than the Xbox One X version based on just assumptions and nothing else for an unannounced game. It's clear they have favouritism to anything Sony because when they discussed the rumor that their handheld was going to be on par with a PS5 they ate it up. It would be fine if they were a Sony focused channel but they aren't. They reported more on Switch than they did anything else in the past few years.

I would recommend just looking some videos up, it's not really hard to find, and there is normally video evidence of this. I know Doctre81 has been on their ass about it for a long time so I'm sure there is footage of that on his channel. I don't exactly watch his channel so I don't know if he keeps the videos up but they were there last I checked.

Digital Foundry get a lot of blind praise despite them being entirely wrong and not owning up to that a few too many times for my liking. I like transparency and DF do not have that on their checklist. I won't try to convince you that they are a bad source, neither will I try to convince myself otherwise. It just is how it is.

Re: Nintendo Reportedly Increases Switch 2 Production To 25 Million Units For Year 1

Varkster

@DangoTown I'm going to ignore the anti-consumer part of your comment because as far as I'm aware that's every company under the sun. Sony and Microsoft have been extremely unpleasant on that front, rage baiting for those companies just doesn't work quite as well so there is less internet outrage content for them.

Now, on the defining exclusives part, I will disagree entirely. The games that are available in the first 6 months are fantastic and there is great promise of things to come, not just on the first party, but also the third party offerings. This is the first Nintendo console in decades where I can confidently say it will get a great third party slew which is more than exciting. Sure, I can play these on my PC, but I've been playing my Switch 2 a ton recently and buying upwards of 100 games to try out over the past few months (including the backwards compatible library) just due to me enjoying my time on the console and seeing value in portable play.

I see your point as a complete opposite, Nintendo is instead focusing on risky endeavors like Kirby bloody Air Ride, DK Bananza and Metroid Prime because they know this console will succeed, which means we will get all of the massive bangers 1-2-3 years down the line and it won't be like the Switch 1, where all the major franchises were front loaded and the rest of the generation people were begging for more. Mario Odyssey 2 never came, for example. We never got a brand new Mario Kart.

I think you're mistaking arrogance for confidence. Of course Nintendo are confident Switch 2 will sell, Switch 1 is still on pace to become the highest selling console in the world, and it sure as hell is the fastest selling. If the library isn't for you, just be patient and wait, nobody forces anyone to buy a toy. It's up to the consumer to value whatever they're putting money on, and I've been heavily enjoying mine.

Re: Switch 2's First Warhammer 40,000 Game Isn't The One You Might Expect

Varkster

@AverageGamer I think my statement is very similar to what you're saying, yes, except I believe the concept and outcome we're talking about is different.

Space Marines 2 has high asset density, the GFX chip on the Switch 2 is actually plenty capable and there have been many techniques implemented in recent engines that allow developers to offload the CPU heavy tasks to the GPU, Nvidia cards have been exceptionally good at this and I'm very confident the Switch 2 dev kits absolutely guide developers on implementing this into their games.

My main problem here is not with your statement, by the way, but the often-seen comparison here "if it runs on x, it should/not run on y" because it's counterproductive and doesn't actually prove anything.

Digital Foundry have openly stated that Outlaws will be insanely compromised, it will look and run awful and will not support ray tracing. They went on record to say this multiple times and gloat about it in podcasts, we then saw the result, Outlaws turned out not just good but great, runs at 30FPS but the game actually looks incredible, even on a TV display. I have a 65" OLED 4K and can attest to this fact.

The only comparison to Series S I can think of from developers is Koei Tecmo, specifically their Nobunaga's Ambition studio, where they didn't even say they could confidently compare the console, which further adds to my point.

Every time I look at a thread where a game is proposed to be ported to the Switch 2, I'm reliving the experience where every page on this site for Switch 1 ports was "I don't think this can run" which is annoying to see at the start of a generation where we haven't even seen what this new console can do apart from some outstanding work for early third party ports. This is no longer a Switch 1 situation; it's a lot more interesting and involved than that when it comes to developers optimizing their games for this system, the hardware capabilities are still very much unknowns, there is no perfect science to it. It all depends on far too many variables in the game's engine, code and the developers' capabilities to be certain whether something could run and/if it would be heavily compromised as opposed to another version. Also, a significant question here would be what is 'heavily compromised' to you? Outlaws is certainly not fitting that description for me by any means, I have had a 4080 PC and have the comparisons I can make side to side, but playing Outlaws on the Switch does not make me feel I am playing a lesser experience.

Essentially, my point is this, you think Space Marines 2 cannot release on Switch 2 and look visually outstanding, that is what I'm disagreeing with, and yet neither of us can really prove it, the only people that can prove either of us wrong is the developers if they ever think to bring the game over. Some people on this site disguise comments like what you have said as fact, as if they're experts in game development and the hardware built into the Switch 2 which is disingenuous. I just decided to respond to you because I figured you seem to at least be up to conversation on the subject.

Re: Switch 2's First Warhammer 40,000 Game Isn't The One You Might Expect

Varkster

@AverageGamer Respectfully disagree. Porting games is not as simple as runs on x means will or won't run on y.

XSS is not a direct comparison and never will be, Switch 2 is a console that has benefits in place over the Series S and in some parts it's got some downsides, it's up to developers to optimize games properly to take advantage of it.

Outlaws is a CPU heavy modern title and we know how that runs. Pretty much every game is possible on Switch 2 at this point. We don't need to keep making comments like these, they are assumptions that have been disproven multiple times now. I swear every article has a comment mentioning Series S, it's NL's own fault for featuring uneducated opinions from Digital Foundry and making janky comparisons themselves using the Series S to demo how games 'should look' if ported to Switch 2. It's simply not a valid comparison as a lot more goes into developing for different architecture. This isn't a PC. Cyberpunk had half of the code rewritten to make their engine take advantage of the hardware on Switch 2, for god's sake.

There are game developers that have already spoken on this, multiple actually, way more educated on this topic than DF or NL because they actually develop on the system. Has been said multiple times now that modern games can run on this machine, just depends if the dev cares enough to put in the time and resources to port.

Re: Rumour: Silent Hill 2 May Be Coming To Switch 2 As Its Exclusivity Window Ends

Varkster

Jesus, the article didn't even mention game key cards and this community has completely melted down in the comment section.

Time for a long hiatus again, this is embarrassing to read honestly. One track minds is underselling it. Genuinely feels like people here have completely lost their minds and are just repeating the same garbage over and over regardless of context. I'm over it.

Re: "Lighting Is The Crucial Factor" - How Square Enix Made Final Fantasy VII Remake Look Great On Switch 2

Varkster

@EriXz To be fair Nintendo's output is still by and large the craziest and most diverse of any publishers/developers out there, it'll take a bit to build up the library sure, but in the meantime third-party games are just as important.

If there were no notable third-party games or first-party, I'd be complaining too, but there have been plenty so far in my eyes, you're playing them on other platforms true, but those platforms don't have the same exclusives as well so it's a give and take and they've also been out on the market for many more years.

I wouldn't say sell your Switch 2, but I'd just say maybe don't buy into the hype and get a console at launch in future, normally launches are pretty timid for all systems across the board. Give it another few months and you'll probably be pretty happy with the selection.

Re: "Lighting Is The Crucial Factor" - How Square Enix Made Final Fantasy VII Remake Look Great On Switch 2

Varkster

@jsty3105 I think it's also the fact that Nintendo made a genuinely competitive power system in the handheld space, this invited discourse from a lot of handheld PC and other console enthusiasts to come on here and share their 'wisdom' on how 'bad' the Switch 2 is.

Part of me believes if the Switch 2 was much weaker half of that audience wouldn't come here and instigate these discussions.

This site used to be generally immune to constant frame rate and resolution bickering outside from a few complaints here and there. This really changed when S2 released despite games on it running 50x better than an original Switch.

Re: Star Wars Outlaws Gets Another Switch 2 Patch, Further Improves Performance And Visuals

Varkster

@Rebusmind Pretty sure it's not related to the amount of rays but the resolution of the game's output before DLSS. Since it's being upscaled, the RT is shining lights but there isn't enough pixel data to reflect it so it creates a shimmer effect. You'll notice when you dock the console this problem is much less noticeable in the same areas, and some of the more well lit spaces also don't suffer from this.

Just a minor correction but I could also be completely off base.

Re: "Lighting Is The Crucial Factor" - How Square Enix Made Final Fantasy VII Remake Look Great On Switch 2

Varkster

@jsty3105 You can thank the popularity of Digital Foundry for this. I do think there is room for a channel like theirs where they analyze game performance, but their bias and overall approach to how they review games has made them blatant console war fuel and everyone online seems to nitpick quotes from their videos to prove some kind of point.

The user who's comments have now been removed even tried to nitpick that Digital Foundry said x about Star Wars Outlaws outing Switch 2 as unimpressive in some way despite the overall message in their video is that they are incredibly impressed in how well the Switch 2 is outputting that game.

I have also been a PC player for years and despite the Switch 2 obviously being much, much less impressive than my PC on the power scale I think the hardware and the performance of games on it has completely blown me away, it is the first interesting piece of console hardware in decades as the Switch 1 was severely underpowered at launch and every other console opts for PC architecture and massive energy prints.

I was shunned on this site prior to Switch 2 launching when I said the above and that the Switch 2 will be powerful enough to run current games optimally and in some cases like recently RE9 and this game incredibly well, and now suddenly it's not enough for everyone and they need every game to run at 60-120fps on a handheld.

You're right though people have completely forgot about talking about the actual games and everything is now somehow just tech related. It's really shallow and depressing.

Re: "Lighting Is The Crucial Factor" - How Square Enix Made Final Fantasy VII Remake Look Great On Switch 2

Varkster

@EriXz Donkey Kong, Silksong, Hades 2 have all been incredible experiences and have eaten up a lot of my time along with the S1 backlog and some other games I bought on a whim here and there (like Cronos, which is incredible).

My suggestion would be to branch out a little and buy some games outside of the comfort zone, there are actually heaps of games to play, the 3 I listed are brand new and all have a Metascore of above 90.

Nintendo games specifically will start piling up towards the end of the year, it's a pretty packed next few months between Pokemon, Kirby and Zelda so it may also be worth just waiting a bit and saving money for that.

It all depends on what you want to play of course and your preferences, I'm just saying there definitely are things to play.

Re: "Lighting Is The Crucial Factor" - How Square Enix Made Final Fantasy VII Remake Look Great On Switch 2

Varkster

@WiltonRoots Yeah unfortunately the conversation on here is largely specs from people who don't understand specs and game key cards with people adamant against them but feeling the need to comment on every article about how they hate them and will never support them. I think you can be upset at GKCs without being obnoxious about it.

Unfortunately it's exhausting and social media played a massive part in promoting these benign arguments, people just parrot off what they see on social media and it's like free thought is completely absent. It's frankly weird and I see less and less users commenting. The site's fanbase should technically be growing, instead it seems people are just being thrown off by how negative it's been here even on the most positive articles and they just don't bother. It's very noticeable since the comment count is actually reducing per article over time. There are few exceptions.

Anyways, it is what it is. I'll be supporting the developers like you and will continue trying to ignore what those like the user above has to say. It's not like I will convince anyone otherwise.

Re: "Lighting Is The Crucial Factor" - How Square Enix Made Final Fantasy VII Remake Look Great On Switch 2

Varkster

@Nintendo4Sonic Multiple developers sure seem to be positive about their games on the console and have said nothing but good things about it.

Why should anybody listen to you? You don't develop for the console and clearly don't know technology very well. Not sure what point you're even trying to make.

Comparing a 10W handheld system to other consoles that drain power like a fridge is hilarious.

The type of fidelity and performance we are seeing on Switch 2 ports is frankly unheard of, especially not on Nintendo consoles for decades now. Resident Evil 9 being a day 1 port running above 30fps for instance is a grand achievement. All this at half the price of a similarly performing PC handheld.

Developers are so positive, in fact, that they spend a huge amount of their energy on marketing the fact that there is a Switch 2 version and come out and make public statements on how easy it is to develop on. Most recently this rhetoric came from Warframe developers, Square Enix and Capcom.

Your argument has been floating on this site from multiple users for months and it is so tired at this point. Half the reason I stopped visiting and commenting here is folks with comments like yours.

Re: "The Most Impressive Switch 2 Port To Date" - Digital Foundry Examines Star Wars Outlaws

Varkster

@breach187 I mean, the operating word here is 'yet'. Hence why they're saying it so early on.

Cyberpunk, Hogwarts, Street Fighter, No Mans Sky, Yakuza were all pretty impressive ports in their own right, but this is the port where eyes were opened and we're at the "okay I am starting to see what this console can do" stage. I'm sure I missed some other good ports by the way.

And it's coming from Ubisoft, a company that is in massive trouble at the moment. This is the most positive press they've had in a decade, we should let them have it.

Re: Cronos: The New Dawn Gets A Deep Dive Trailer, And It's Looking Awesome

Varkster

I wonder when they'll be ready to start showing Project M. Anybody remember that game? Supposedly a Switch (likely Switch 2 exclusive now) from Bloober with only a live action teaser released so far.

Cronos looks excellent and having followed this team a while their worst and most criticized work was when their game was very derivative of other games and didn't stand out. Despite the comparisons to Dead Space this looks very unique and ambitious.

Crossing my fingers and hoping this isn't a flop, I do really want Bloober to become a new big horror studio, we're really lacking those in the games industry.

Re: Hitman Developer Is Working On Switch 2 Performance Issues "Right Now"

Varkster

I did purchase the game and out of all the other ones I bought, when I launched Hitman in particular, I saw some of the most bizarre 'twitching' of objects in the environments I've ever seen. Agent 47 himself is not affected, however the objects sitting on the map like the car in the first level is almost shaking at poltergeist levels. It is weird.

Will happily plug the game in again if that is gone, I wasn't going to play the game in that state, it was severely distracting.

Good on them for fixing after launch, but I also wish they'd have released it in a better state.

Re: Switch 2 Dock Supports VRR After All, But It Doesn't Actually Work With Console

Varkster

@AllBLK Every console performs on its own in-house developed OS.

The PS5 VRR to this day isn't perfect and has issues on some screens whereas the Xbox VRR is probably the best of the three at this point.

A lot of this has to do with the firmware, given Nintendo also operate on ARM architecture it's not as simple as "others have it and so should they". They can't copy code (that would present legal problems), neither can they really look at the other systems for any 'reference', because the other consoles are using different GFX chips and are based on x86.

As someone above mentioned, it's also worth noting that VRR, especially in home TV screens, is still fresh and PS5 implemented it long after launch via firmware updates. This isn't a new concept for systems to add the feature later, only problem is it looks they advertised it too soon.

They will be working on the OS for years to come and it's likely they will implement this feature when it's ready.

My TV supports VRR and even I'm not that fussed about it because the game performance isn't bothering me. There are a large amount of people who do not have a VRR capable TV, so this likely isn't taking utmost priority.

Hope that helps.

Re: UK Charts: Nintendo Switch 2 Annihilates The Competition In Its Debut Week

Varkster

@Otoemetry Give it a couple of weeks, if not just one. They already let a little squeeze out yesterday night (well, night for me anyways) for the new Splatoon game.

They'll announce more soon, there's a lot of unknowns about the future of the console at the moment and I predict that is on purpose.

They outlined the launch and didn't really go too much farther than that for a reason, they want the announcements to happen more frequently to generate continuous engagement, it's a strategy Furukawa believes in, rather than announcing the console's entire library at the beginning of its lifespan.

Re: UK Charts: Nintendo Switch 2 Annihilates The Competition In Its Debut Week

Varkster

@Otoemetry Oh, I'm not talking about you by the way, that jab is at the online discourse, you're fine haha.

I feel like I need to make that more clear when responding to people online.

Generally, if I had a problem with anything you said I wouldn't actually put thought and effort into my response, look at above examples of this.

I think you're right overall and the Nintendo brand is very weak in the UK, although the Switch has picked the brand up by quite a lot in the UK it's still not quite where the PlayStation and Xbox brands are.

I'm just giving general thoughts that the system will sell more if they keep releasing more games, of course that point will 100% depend on the lineup and the quality of the games moving forward, on that I can't comment about because I don't know enough from here on out (as would anyone, even rumors have been quiet).

Re: UK Charts: Nintendo Switch 2 Annihilates The Competition In Its Debut Week

Varkster

@Otoemetry In the UK, sure, the console will get the necessary boosts when the games come out that UK are generally more interested in.

Like I mentioned in the France article, console sales are driven by software, this is something that people like to forget or not bring up when talking about the Switch 2 sales.

When the next 3D Mario game, Metroid, Animal Crossing, Pokemon and other games that perform great in the UK come out for the console, the system will see significant bumps in the region. It's always been this way with the Switch as well.

The important takeaway here is that the launch sales numbers are impressive, and given the most recent article on NintendoLife, this argument was completely silly considering the Switch 2 has now smashed every record for the greatest system sales at launch.

Whether it keeps performing the way it started will strongly depend on the lineup, which we have yet to learn from Nintendo.

I just disagree with the agenda that now that the Switch 2 is exceptionally successful despite the entirety of the internet saying it will flop, the goalposts have shifted and we're now saying that the Switch 2 will drop off in sales. No. The system will continue selling if the software allows it and there is a steady flow of releases, especially exclusives.

Re: Splatoon Raiders, A New Splatoon Spin-Off, Is Confirmed For Switch 2

Varkster

@BenAV Wouldn't say it means anything for or against a Nintendo Direct coming soon. Just because they announce the game in the app doesn't mean they can't show it again shortly after in a Direct and go into a bit of detail.

I expect a lot of third party games for Switch 2 to be announced this way, however. A lot of leakers online hinted that we are going to see some big Nintendo Today app announcements moving forward.

Well, here is your first one.

Re: Sounds Like Switch 2 Is Already Breaking Sales Records In France

Varkster

@Kwyjibo_Kitsune It's an annoying fact that everything Nintendo does is somehow a big controversy and gets all the internet trolls climbing out of caves and screaming into the wind. Previous generations are purposefully forgotten or omitted, some say they were 'big fans' until this 'big controversy' but only have 2 hours in their Switch catalogue to show for. Nothing is supported by data but only vibes and Nintendo is evil and should go third party, every day, every year.

No matter how successful and massive Nintendo become and grow their fanbase, which probably quadrupled in size during the Switch era, I think this toxic rhetoric will continue in the future.

It's honestly one of the very few downsides of being a Nintendo fan, it's this consistent insanity online which has happened year and year again where people grow cynical and edgy to make their crazy brain melting statements over, and over, and over again.

It's hard to enjoy gaming news as a short term hobby after working a full day because no matter how good the news are, you will see the same people climb out of the woodworks and spin it as a negative.

This website is unfortunately also a victim of this, I used to come here to be pretty excited and passionate about games, now it's a chore to scroll through comments. By the way, this is not addressed towards the person I was just replying to in any way, they're cool.

But as you said at the end of the day all it is, is white noise. We'll continue seeing big games and new members in the fandom this generation, which is all that matters.

Re: Sounds Like Switch 2 Is Already Breaking Sales Records In France

Varkster

@AllBLK Completely disagree, the Switch, when it launched, had this same argument that it is an expensive system which nobody was going to buy. There were many articles about this fact, sure the economy has shifted since then because there are things happening in the world, but I'd argue due to those things happening in the world the gaming market will grow exponentially.

I'm not so sure you can predict future sales based on the console's launch price alone, most people out in the world do not see things the same way you do (like you said in your comment). These launch sales are concrete proof that a lot of people went out to buy a Switch 2 day one, if you think these people are all, as you say, "hardcore fans", I think that's a complete misinterpretation of numbers. It also shows that the discourse online and the 'opinions' that people were spouting left, right, center were completely invalidated.

Vast majority out there will not care and buy the system if the good games keep coming out. It's been that way forever and will stay that way. PS5 is still a successful console despite having almost no exclusives released for it yearly, gaming isn't falling off anytime soon.

I'd like to leave it there because I'm not interested in debating, I think we can agree to disagree here and move along.

Re: Sounds Like Switch 2 Is Already Breaking Sales Records In France

Varkster

@AllBLK Sure, but people forget that software drives the sales for the console. Nintendo will keep pumping out steady exclusives, that's literally a given for the Switch 2. They proved it with the Switch 1.

Once the rollout begins for their biggest franchises (Animal Crossing, Pokemon, Smash Bros, Mario, Zelda etc.) the console sales will continue climbing.

It's hard to take seriously the rhetoric that the system will magically drop off in sales performance after some non-descript time passes, because the games will still be steadily coming out months, and years from now.

At the end of the day it's games that sell systems, the fact that the Switch 2 is technologically a delight is just a cherry on top that most people won't really care about after the initial launch.

My point is, it's not some test they have to pass, they just have to keep making good games. The negative coverage will cease to exist in a few months time and people will move onto boycotting the next big thing, such is the cycle of online discourse.

Having an exceptionally strong launch and smashing records is just build up and more revenue to invest back into making more experiences for the console, after all. There's no discrediting that Nintendo smashed it out of the park with stock and setting up a successful launch, it's a win for the consumers and the company.

Re: No Man's Sky Is Landing A Free Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Update On Launch Day

Varkster

@Vyacheslav333 I think it's because games with 40 FPS with VRR actually look quite good, close enough to 60 that most people will find it a massive step up from 30, though comparatively the increment from 30 to 40 and from 40 to 60 is pretty similar (1/3), I'd argue the jump from 40 to 60 is much less noticeable.

Diminishing returns and all that.

Re: New Videos Show How Fantasy Life i Has Been Beefed Up On Switch 2

Varkster

@Medic_alert If you're comparing it to a PC then yes it is limited. For a 10W piece of hardware you can hold in your hands it's actually incredible, and there is nothing out there that can offer a similar visual fidelity on a low power level like that.

You're entitled to not be excited, what excites you and I about hardware is different, as it would be for any person.

I am on the complete opposite spectrum of you, I see a massive investment for my time and money and a huge promise that third parties are here day one and so are first party games we all love and enjoy.

Sorry if my initial comment sounded obtuse, this site's community is just becoming a bit of a parody where every news article, no matter how positive, has to have negative comments that most times are unrelated completely to the article.

I understand the need to express that you are underwhelmed and all, but have we not had enough of that at this stage? I keep my visits to this site very limited because it's all becoming quite draining. Eventually I will stop completely, that's one less fan for the website essentially all thanks to the community.

Just want to add, the reason the PS5 is underwhelming is because of the lack of meaningful first party experiences. I get that you may have been right about the console when it released, but trust me when I say Nintendo will have the first party support in droves. I don't need to prove it, just look at the schedule for this year. Again, if nothing excites you in the line up that's okay because that's an opinion, but undeniably this is a stronger line-up than even the Switch had in the first 6 months.
