@HeeHo They post a lot of articles which have very loose connection to the Switch. Literally a couple days ago they posted Elden Ring's review scores. I think that one is much more egregious because the connection there is a 0.
It's whatever gets the clicks and flaming comments.
Honestly, this website is becoming more and more difficult to visit because the toxicity levels and the increasing arrogance and entitlement of some people here is becoming staggering. Reminds me of why I stopped visiting this place during the Wii U days.
As if we don't have enough sh*t in the world to already worry about.
My guess is Nintendo will announce GB/GBC for the standard subscription alongside GBA with the expansion pass within the next 2 years for NSO and one of their big sellers on GBA will be their final localisation of Mother 3.
They're very, VERY clearly aware of the demand and I think the profit side of things outweighs the ESRB battle at the end of the day. There are some things that are difficult to translate in the game which may be completely misinterpreted by an English speaking community, but I believe the sole fact that they didn't re-release a Japanese only drop is because they're staying their hand to release it worldwide.
People may not think of this as such a big deal since we have localisations for games like LiveAlive coming out left right centre, but believe me Mother 3 is a very special game. It's got a lot of very personal story telling that hits close to home which every other RPG game out there misses and is, itself, made by a really interesting man - Itoi. If you know nothing about the man I suggest at least reading him up on the Wiki. He really is a misfit game director and it's really impressive Nintendo gave him the green light to make the games he did.
Anything Monolith Soft related is exciting. We haven't seen what they're working on aside from a couple concept art pieces which may not even be related to their project.
I didn't get grabbed by Xenoblade 2 as much as I did the first game but everything they ever revealed always made me super excited.
Two of the absolute best parts for me waiting for a Monolith Soft title is the music and seeing the world for the first time. Every single time they deliver and blow me away.
What are the top three? I'm unsure if it's listed somewhere in the article and I'm just blind...
But yeah, game deserves it for sure in my opinion. A lot of people who haven't played a Pokemon game in years have been picking up this one and it's for good reason.
Hopefully it shows GameFreak that people mean it when they say they want something new.
Playing the game right now, got nearly up to the 3rd star and am honestly really impressed. It's been hard to put the game down and waiting for work to finish to drive and pick it up was not the easiest experience.
Honestly I love the Monster Hunter-esque take on the Pokemon formula. There are things in this game that, if you were to tell me would be in a Pokemon game 3 years ago, I would call you a liar.
I've said this multiple times before, I don't see why people are complaining about every little thing wrong with the game when this is exactly what Pokemon fans have been begging for for years. I'm not even the greatest Pokemon fan and yet I'm having a blast. It's worth giving GameFreak credit when they deserve it. They took a risk and it seemed to have paid off.
I also wish to note that graphics are acceptable for a Switch title. Sure, they may not be impressive per se, but I think they do a serviceable job and I do enjoy the art style for the characters. Considering this game didn't have the longest development cycle and it's quite experimental for GameFreak, I'm surprised it looks the way it does aside from the pop-in and some muddy textures.
There are also a lot of small neat touches and easter eggs in this game which are easy to miss. It's very clear the developers put a lot of love into this project.
@westman98 @VoidofLight In terms of open world tech I think Monolith has it down better than most developers out there in the industry, it wouldn't be a big surprise that Nintendo would want their help on bigger projects like this which involve larger areas.
I also can't imagine it would slow the current game Monolith Soft is working on by a lot, so there really wouldn't be a major downside.
Of course, this game is probably radically different mechanically than anything Monolith developed so far but the open world aspect of it specifically would make sense.
I really actually wonder if perhaps they got help from Monolith Soft on this one. We usually don't find this information out until the credits but it seems like an obvious choice since Nintendo came to them for help with making big open worlds whilst still maintaining reasonable size. I think XCX was the one Monolith Game with awful size in terms of how much space it took on the Wii U.
@Royalblues Ah yes, saying a whole country is biased towards Pokemon and Nintendo because the opinion of an outlet after having played the game doesn't match your opinion after you have seen some of it.
Classy, my guy.
I'm getting deja vu of this same thing happening with Metroid Dread as well as some other Nintendo games which received good scores and were favourable among players.
One thing that struck my attention ever since they started releasing gameplay footage is the amount of different attacks and animations all the wild Pokemon have when they attack and chase you. Yes, I know they're Pokemon so it's a little unfair to compare the enemy variety to Breath of the Wild but I feel like this game will excel at that in comparison.
A lot of people complained that BotW didn't have a vast enough enemy variety for its size and length and it seems as if GameFreak took all the complaints regarding the animations in Sword and Shield very seriously.
I am buying this game as I decided a long time ago. It's the first time since Town (remember that game?) that they're finally trying something new and it's the first Pokemon game they're trying something new with since Pokken Tournament (which wasn't even GameFreak anyway). Thankfully I managed to stay away from all the leaks so that I'm able to be surprised for myself.
Glad that it seems people unanimously agree that the game is good though, Pokemon desperately needed a moment like this.
I find it quite ironic how some say that we are "impressed by a mediocre game" because it's Pokemon and we have such low standards for the franchise but don't realise that they themselves fit into the stereotype of hating on the game just because it's Pokemon. Instead of generalising and looking like a raving fool maybe just play the game for yourself before jumping to any conclusions and don't categorize people claiming their bias when you can't even judge if they have any for yourself.
@NinjaGuy69 You should drop the passive aggression before you're swiftly banned. Telling somebody to grow up and judge their taste in games for no reason other than replying to your admittedly dumb comment just shows you in a bad light.
@HenHiro Monster Hunter: Rise is a mainline game. Just because it's on a portable platform doesn't invalidate this. There are two teams that work on both series and neither of them are the "lesser" one.
This isn't the Dark Souls/Dark Souls 2 or Silent Hill/Silent Hill: The Room situation.
In fact, if we were to get technical, Yuya Tokuda, the director of MH:W also directed a bunch of the portable titles as well as MH4U before taking up the role for World. The director of Iceborne also directed MHGU on the Switch. The directors of these series constantly change among DLCs and the games that none are considered mainline or secondary, they are all part of one whole.
I personally think that whether this game turns out amazing or terrible I absolutely support the fact that GameFreak is trying something completely new which is kind of what all the fans have been asking for for years?
Im really befuddled at why this is receiving so much backlash when this is what WE have been asking for. This company is clearly trying and if this game doesn't work out then they will just go back to using all of their budget on releasing the same old formulaeic Pokemon games. It's especially confusing that some are telling people not to pre-order this?
Guys, if a person sees a game as appealing and pre-orders it, it's their choice. Some pre-ordered Cyberpunk and actually enjoyed their time with it despite all of its flaws. It's not up to you to dictate to others what they should or shouldn't play. Right now especially, when since Metroid this is the first big notable release on the Switch.
@Friendly I put down a few generally very serious comments and your first response was to point out a mistake I made which doesn't even change what I was trying to say in the slightest. 2 years is still an abhorent amount of time and for me living in Melbourne I had to spend most of it staying at home alone unable to even see friends or family.
You knew what I was trying to say and decided to mock instead. That is what standoffish is to me. Either way as I said I'm not continuing arguments on this thread because honestly it holds no value or consequence.
I'll just agree to disagree with you and hope we don't step off the wrong foot next time.
@Friendly My bad for not remembering dates then? You could try to come off a little less standoffish in your initial response. Would do good for a change.
Maybe I would have then cared to put more thought into my response.
@Friendly 2019-2020 is one year. 2020-2021 is two years. It's 2022 right now lmao.
As for your other statement I think I'll listen to the person commenting below me and stop replying on this thread. It's a highly sh*tty discussion to be having on a gaming website and I've debated this with others in my circles for a long time.
@Threebcisum Declining medical assistance when you need it is a far cry from vaccinating yourself to avoid needing medical assistance my guy. As I said I've been vaccinated but I support a world that has free choice which is what people pre-dating both you and I were fighting to accomplish.
We found another way to segregate after classism, racism and sexism now it's something a lot more shallow and negligible.
Keep in mind as I said above I am vaccinated. That was my free choice.
@Entrr_username Not saying it's not transmitted easily but there needs to be a certain point (it has been 3 years now) that the world needs to move on and learn how to live with it because just like the flu it is now a part of our lives.
@DomGC No offense, I'm on the opposite side of you here. I am fully vaccinated and yes I wear my mask but I also live in Melbourne, Australia and the conditions we have been put through here are ridiculous.
Sensitive topic but I lost a close friend to suicide and none of the people here have been in a good mental state over the years. People lost money, jobs, families, all because some people in suits decided that this virus is the deadliest thing ever when the reality is that it isn't. Not to mention all of the political drama that went over here with politicians being exposed for taking advantage to make serious profits off the pandemic as well as the police force taking advantage of the situation to abuse people and put themselves on an egotistical power trip.
I agree with the sentiment that many, MANY people die every day, week, month and year. Destroying others' beliefs and ways of life because of this is messed up. People who don't want to jab themselves with a needle are people who are exercising free will and freedom of speech. If somebody is genuinely at risk with bad body conditions as is then I suggest them to distance themselves if they do care about these things.
We spent nearly a year in full lockdown where you weren't even allowed outside without a good reason. Just because whatever country you're in has it good and you seem to only need to put on masks for "5 minutes" doesn't mean the rest of the world is the same way.
@anoyonmus Unsure if it's owned by Sony, I played a bit of the first Nioh on PS4 and then quickly snatched it on PC when it came out as a complete edition a year later. Same thing happened with Nioh 2.
I think Sony just has console exclusivity rights to it just like Nintendo with the two recent Monster Hunter releases.
When Koei Tecmo is at their strongest, I really love their games. People like to joke and say that these guys only make Warriors games but that isn't true.
One sleeper hit franchise from recent memory that I loved is the Nioh series. Genuinely fantastic albeit unforgiving games. I spent countless hours grinding in them long after finishing them because thats just how much fun they are to play. You guys want a challenging action game with a lot of depth and replay value from Koei? Look no further than Nioh 2.
Another series I would like to return is Fatal Frame. It's been a while since we have seen a new release and the recent re-release of Fatal Frame V gives me hope. There was a time when Fatal Frame stood on its own next to Silent Hill and Resident Evil. It was niche in comparison, but surprisingly performed well in the west since it felt unique and was more interested in telling supernatural horror rather than zombie or psychological horror.
Unironically I would also love to see Dynasty Warriors to return as strong as possible. Dynasty Warriors 9 was a very sad flop of a game and I'm actually quite a big fan of the Warriors franchise. They may lack in depth but I find them wildly entertaining games to turn your brain off and dive into. I'm also sure a game or two will happen to be a collaboration with Nintendo. They seem to have been getting quite close recently.
Koei aren't the only ones who are going to be having a big 2022 though, but that doesn't need to be said. We are all aware.
As someone who's never played the OG, I can't say I'm not excited but I do agree with the sentiment that one game every couple of months is a bit crap.
Im not sure Nintendo can take away someone else's money because they posted an incentive. The person still owns the money and they're offering it out of their own pocket. It's a loophole.
That being said, the person who creates this mod might get in serious trouble.
I much prefer Chrono Cross but this game has its charm. I haven't been on the Square boat lately, I think most of their games have been meh to good aside from Dragon Quest 11 and FFXIV Online, but we will see.
I think they're probably very careful with what they remake right now and that's why they didn't pick Chrono Trigger. If you screw up a classic like that it would make a lot of people very, very upset.
I feel like a lot of it has to do simply with word of mouth. The few of my friends that don't yet own one really want one just because others have it.
None of my friends are really into games like I am, so yes mass appeal of the range of genres does help too. For some friends I tell them straight up that they shouldn't get it if their main gaming habits are FIFA and COD. I mean say what you need about the companies that own those franchises and the games but they do unfortunately have a very vast appeal to the general audience still to this day.
Oh, and it's a good item for parties. Just don't pass your Switch to a girl standing above pavement. I speak from personal experience.
Would have been a much more boring world, I always liked that Nintendo was the "colorful" one. Who gives a damn if it isn't "professional"? You're playing video games on a video game system.
Lately a lot of fashion has been back on track with striking colours too, I'm glad colour is cool again.
@Zuljaras Half-Life 2 is pretty much cheating in any category, the technology behind that game is still amazing to this day. You look at Black Mesa's Xen from a couple years back and it looks better than most modern games with half the budget and staff built on the same engine.
@Zuljaras Silent Hill 2 was visually striking but I disagree that it looked great. It looked average especially compared to 3. Silent Hill 3 was a graphical wonder, Silent Hill 2 looked aged even in its own time.
Even just on the PlayStation I think DMC and FFX looked better than SH2 that same year.
@Snaplocket Literally 90% of the people here are agreeing with the reviewer without having played the game yet, how is ANYBODY other than a few select people saying that NL is biased? Your two cents don't add up.
Another strange attempt at throwing unnecessary shade at the community and the website. I follow this site because most of the time I agree with the reviews and what the people here have to say. If you want to see biased I'm afraid you'd have to go to every single outlet that gave The Last of Us 2 a 10.
@Hinade Trust me if you're going to watch the series find a link to download Naruto Kai. It skips all the filler and just focuses on the main story.
After watching Kai I find it very difficult to go back to the actual series. It also cuts out the thousands of minutes of recapping after ad breaks and the intros.
The awards show have proven time and time again that it's a popularity contest and not a mark of quality and intricacy of the products, which is why I'm fully expecting Dread to win some second-hand award and another game to take the big cake for the year.
Not that I care, honestly. Dread is still my GOTY and I will just read the announcements from the show the day after rather than wasting my time actually watching it.
@thaimbomb How are you coming to the conclusion that the Switch is underpowered when a company fails to make an upscaled port of a PS2 game? This is on Rockstar, has 0 to do with the hardware.

Re: Rumour: Mario Party Superstars DLC May Be On The Way
@RubyCarbuncle People complaining when other companies do something but when Nintendo does it it's okay is a super hot take.
If anything, it's the other way around. I don't see Nintendo do anything nowadays without receiving major backlash.

Re: Talking Point: A Poképro And A Pokénoob Discuss Pokémon Legends: Arceus
This game has enough challenge to keep old players hooked as well as ways to go around this challenge for newcomers.
I also think a lot of Gen IV fans will appreciate the limitless references and easter eggs so this game is for sure catered to everybody.

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's Expansion Pack Tier With Paper Mario 64, Out Next Week
As someone who's never played the OG, I can't say I'm not excited but I do agree with the sentiment that one game every couple of months is a bit crap.
Re: Random: YouTuber Offering 10K To Anyone Who Can Create A Multiplayer Mod For Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
@BloodNinja Wow, a multi-billion company makes an update they get a measily 10k for. Im sure they can afford a christmas party for it.
Re: Random: YouTuber Offering 10K To Anyone Who Can Create A Multiplayer Mod For Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
@Ocaz If I had $5 for every time someone said Nintendo shouldn't which after Nintendo in fact did, I'd be Bill Gates.
Re: Random: YouTuber Offering 10K To Anyone Who Can Create A Multiplayer Mod For Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
Im not sure Nintendo can take away someone else's money because they posted an incentive. The person still owns the money and they're offering it out of their own pocket. It's a loophole.
That being said, the person who creates this mod might get in serious trouble.
Re: Monster Hunter Rise Version 3.6.1 Is Now Live, Here Are The Full Patch Notes
They should add new behaviour pattern to the small monsters being terrified of you when you wear the Sonic outfit because that is straight up cursed.
Re: Rumour: Chrono Trigger Sequel Chrono Cross Might Be Getting A Remaster
I much prefer Chrono Cross but this game has its charm. I haven't been on the Square boat lately, I think most of their games have been meh to good aside from Dragon Quest 11 and FFXIV Online, but we will see.
I think they're probably very careful with what they remake right now and that's why they didn't pick Chrono Trigger. If you screw up a classic like that it would make a lot of people very, very upset.
Re: Talking Point: 5 Reasons That Nintendo Switch Is Still A Hot Product
Re: Random: Reggie Fils-Aimé Hosts A 20th Anniversary Xbox Panel
I find Reggie going "I don't know why I'm here either" to be extremely funny.
Re: Nintendo's American Branch Didn't Like The Idea Of GameCube Being Purple
Would have been a much more boring world, I always liked that Nintendo was the "colorful" one. Who gives a damn if it isn't "professional"? You're playing video games on a video game system.
Lately a lot of fashion has been back on track with striking colours too, I'm glad colour is cool again.
Re: Pokémon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl Are Out Today On Switch, Which Version Are You Getting?
I didn't have a DS or a childhood so I'm actually looking forward to picking these up soon.
The series may receive a lot of hate for both right and wrong reasons, but I do actually have fun playing these games.
Re: Talking Point: Is There A Better-Looking 20-Year-Old Game Than Star Wars: Rogue Squadron II?
@Zuljaras Half-Life 2 is pretty much cheating in any category, the technology behind that game is still amazing to this day. You look at Black Mesa's Xen from a couple years back and it looks better than most modern games with half the budget and staff built on the same engine.
Re: Talking Point: Is There A Better-Looking 20-Year-Old Game Than Star Wars: Rogue Squadron II?
@Zuljaras Silent Hill 2 was visually striking but I disagree that it looked great. It looked average especially compared to 3. Silent Hill 3 was a graphical wonder, Silent Hill 2 looked aged even in its own time.
Even just on the PlayStation I think DMC and FFX looked better than SH2 that same year.
Re: Review: Pokémon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl - A Middling Pair Of Remakes

Oh god, this comment section 🤣
Re: Believe It! Naruto And Team 7 Have Arrived In Fortnite
Re: Metroid Dread In The Running With The Game Awards GOTY Nomination
The awards show have proven time and time again that it's a popularity contest and not a mark of quality and intricacy of the products, which is why I'm fully expecting Dread to win some second-hand award and another game to take the big cake for the year.
Not that I care, honestly. Dread is still my GOTY and I will just read the announcements from the show the day after rather than wasting my time actually watching it.
Re: Review: Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition - Three Classics In One Shocking Package
@Matthew90 You missed my point entirely.
Re: Review: Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition - Three Classics In One Shocking Package
@thaimbomb How are you coming to the conclusion that the Switch is underpowered when a company fails to make an upscaled port of a PS2 game? This is on Rockstar, has 0 to do with the hardware.
