Re: Poll: The Tricky Issue of Retail Games as Download-Only Releases

Vader_MIB

Forgot to say my thoughts went even more on the hard side following the recent scandal for games on iOS removed from the "games you bought" list after they were removed from the app store, which means that after some time, you completely lose a game. It does not happen when you have the cartridge.

Personal example: i did not buy Shin Megami Tensei IV and Dual Destinies, regardless of the many promotions. I want physical copies of "big games". Still, i have Shovel Knight and some otehrs indies, + all Sega Classics. But i am very happy about the coming physocal version fo SK. That reminds me also of this f... region lock policy. I have a PS Vita also. I buy retail copies of several games which are released in NA as cartridge but only as downladables in EU.

And the guy admits he knew from the beginning... Wow. I hope he will get sued properly, because this is most probably against Kickstarter terms and conditions. Personally, after one problem with crowdfunding (i participated in some projects), i just stopped and closed my account. Never again. And i think this will happen more and more just because such people. And then, end of crowdfunding in a few years.

Re: Take More Risks With Your eShop Purchases, Pleads Nintendo's Damon Baker

Vader_MIB

If i had one wish to be fulfilled, Nintendo would sell boxed versions of games all over the world and give up this stupid region lock system put in place only since 3DS (eg i will never purchase Ace Attorney Dual Destiny here in France where we have only eshop version vs the rest of the world which has boxed version). Plus link game downloads to an account instead of a console like on every other system making sense.
This guy is just another commercial trying to sell stuff to fans he knows everything about (easy generalization as always). Usual industry guy.

Re: Editorial: The eShop's Pricing Dilemma is the Fault of Many, But Damages Creativity and Risk Taking

Vader_MIB

I agree on the fact that there is a big problem of how to own the game you download on the eShop. I will never buy a digital game on my Nintendo system for high price. As soon as your system fails, you loose the game.
For that high price, i am old school: only physical copy. If they offer me a cartridge with Affordable Space Adv. for 40 euros, i would buy it. 20 euros digital: hack no. Even worse if the game exists in another country as a cartridge, like Ace Attorney Dual Destiny. I will NEVER buy it, regardless of the price, if it is not brought to me in France as in the USA as a physical game.
