The news that Hyrule Warriors Legends is getting a female version of Link named Linkle has caused quite a stir online, but it's merely the latest chapter in the character's interesting history. Concept art appeared in the Hyrule Warriors artbook some time ago, and since then we've seen a steady supply of fan art relating to new heroine.
With that in mind, we've pulled together a gallery of our favourite Linkles from all over the web. If you've got one you particularly like, feel free to link to it in the comments section below.

Nice, I really like Presteasy's rendition.
Splitscreen co-op Link and Linkle action/adventure game, make it happen Nintendo.
Linkle cosplay showing up in 3... 2... 1...
It's always like that with new revealed characters, they also get hit by stuff 18+ too.
@MarinoKadame Yeah, she already had that when she was concept art.
@MarinoKadame Please update with links when you come across any of the 18+ stuff - she's a hottie.
This discussion is going in a weird direction -_-
Well it is not like Female Link fanart did not exist, just that it has now become official with Linkle, with a new costume and dual crossbow setup.
And for the people who mind the name, it is meant to be a pun which didn't translate in English. Her name in Japanese is Rinkuru, with "kuru kuru" meaning spinning/twirling. Kuru also means to come, which can translate her name to "The Link to come". NoA just lazily converted it to English though, hence the name.
Still, loving the small collection of fanart here. I really like the sword being at her waist in the art by Polarityplus, while wielding a two-handed crossbow. The 4th last one.
I really like the third one in particular. That's going to be a new avy of mine elsewhere.
My God they are beautiful...
They're pretty, but it's a shame that people will only see Linkle in Hyrule Warriors as just a female Link instead of her own separate and individual character. Oh well, she's not even canon, so it doesn't even matter.
@Aromaiden
Not when she officially gets a backstory/origin.
@Splatburst What are you talking about? Are you referring to my point about her being her own character?
@Aromaiden
People will finally recognise her as her own character when HW:Legends or whenever Nintendo release her own origin story.
@Splatburst I hope they do; it'd be a shame if they didn't.
So, is Linkle her own character?
She isn't the hero reborn, this time as a female? So could Linkle and Link appear in the same room together? Then why is she wearing the green tunic and why is her name so similar to Link's?
If 'Link' is generic and to represent the player, why give her a 'girly' name? Shouldn't it be Link (M) & Link (F)? Or whatever.
Don't hate on me, I'm just trying to work it out!
Link will always be sexier than linke, she looks basic in the face in hyrule warriors, she's cool though. But even Agatha looks better ._.
@Moon
Linkle was one of the discarded characters for Hyrule Warriors. In her original design she was meant to be just a female Link. This Linkle isn't the same, as they changed several things about her; they just happened to kept her name and signature weapon.
So to answer your questions: yes, she is her own character, no, she is not the hero reborn, yes, her and Link can appear in the same room, the general design for her current clothing is based off of her original tunic (although several distinct features were altered), and they kept her original name.
@Moon
She is her own character as mentioned in the Direct if I'm not mistaken.
I hope the upcoming Hyrule Warriors Legends news will confirm Linkle can be sent to the Wii U version. Her non gameplay footage in the Direct was far to good to be displaying on a 3DS.
Awesome art work can't wait for an Linkle spin off game.
@Moon Many websites over reacted to the reveal of Linkle. She is not a female Link, she is a separate character of her own right. Linkle and Link can get together in the same room and no timey whimey nonsence would take place.
Wow, cool gallery, they all add a unique flare to an already unique character. I especially like what Polarityplus has done with the character, adding the blade on her hip is a fun twist.
Does anyone know if these new characters for Hyrule Warriors Legends are going to be available for Hyrule Warriors Wii-U?
Thanks to this art collection, I found an artist on Deviant who also has nice Monster Hunter and Fire Emblem fanart! Yay!
I still think Linkle's name in English has an origin, even if it's not a deliberate one!
Linkle, to me at least, is a portmanteau of Link and All (Link All, Linkle), which works because she finally links ALL players to the Zelda game bc she's a female character to better be the link for female gamers.
Of course, theres plenty of people who would disagree with her being good representation, and there's more genders than just male and female, but that's a possibility, maybe?
I simply love Linkle for the fact, that she made the SJW brigade run amok, because no one of these muppets can handle getting what they cried for xD
As a character herself, i love the crossbow reference (Linkles Crossbow Training next ?). Im curious who designed her and who is now the rights holder. If she sneaks her way into the Zelda canon, she can lead her own offshoot series of games.
A Co-Op partner for Link, a Zelda shooter, "What if" Gaiden games.
Linkle has potential, especially since it seems that she, compared to Link himself, will have a more fleshed out character.
@LasermasterA Funny thing is that one was done way before Linkle was confirmed. Like some others.

They are based on dropped female Link art that was shown some months ago. She was only shown with one weapon instead of two, that's the reason for only one double-handed crossbow, and not two one-handed ones.
@Olmectron
Thanks for pointing that out. Still that's my favourite piece among these ones.
Yes the original concept art that showed her as dropped character had her use a double-handed crossbow. She also didn't have that compass pendant. She still didn't have a sword though, so I liked that touch, considering even if she is not "female Link" but his younger sister (or sister like figure), her having a sword for close combat makes sense.
Also dual wielding is cool and all but how does dual-wielded crossbow work - i.e. reloading? -_-
Well at least her name isn't Linkette, I guess...
Some of these are pretty nice.
@LasermasterA That is...a very good question!
The last image should've been "Well excuuuuuse me, prince-s!" haha
By the way, there like a tsunami of Linkle fanarts throughout deviantart, tumblr and also Twitter. I hope there will be some kind of spin-off starring Linkle or a minor/side character in Zelda U.
Looking forward to the inevitable cosplay by the amazing Li Kovacs
I bet there already is some rule 34
There's more than just fan art of her.... >.>
Your favorite R34 pics of her list?
@Lady_rosalina Link's face really does look more feminine than hers in HW.
And he looks feminine in the new 3D Zelda's as well - perhaps so both males and females can relate to him, and in reference to how he is a 'link' between the player?
@NintendoFan64 @LasermasterA According to Gamexplain, she jumps and reloads them mid jump.
yes! she's here to stay. btw, I refuse to call Linkelle Linkle, because Linkle is just all sorts of bad for a name.
Anyword on if Linkelle will be dlc for the Wii U version of Hyrule Warriors or will the Wii U get an updated version with Linkelle as a physical disc?
Well there's art of her, big surprise considering EVERY video game character has fan art within the first 10 minutes of their reveal.
Btw, you guys didn't even search the DEEPWEB and seen what art was made with her.
There was nsfw art within hours of her announcement.
@Moon Consider it this way: In the land, there have been many successful, courageous heroes called Link. There's a fair chance that people might name their kids after or inspired by the legendary heroes in the hopes that some of their namesake's qualities might rub off on them. Well, except maybe pot-breaking.
As far as we know, she isn't in possession of the Spirit of the Hero (if she comes from the Hyrule the game is set in, that's currently in Link. Young Link and Toon Link are from different time periods where they possessed the Spirit of the Hero. If she's from another time period, she might have that soul.)
Maybe green tunics are in vogue, being so associated with the hero of legend.
@Aromaiden Ah.
@gcunit And also supposed to be a little sister to Link, who is 18 years-old at max, so she is under 18.
@SkywardChocobo I want to know that too. I think so, since Linkle's reveal had wii u level graphics.
@TheDarkEnder nah... quite generic if you ask me. some look suspiciously like the artist just used an existing image and added some pointy ears.
I'm a little sad that the story for her and windwaker are 3ds only...but I guess they have to have some incentive.
oh no
her name is starting to sound...
normal.
oh no.......
And yet, she still doesn't remind of me of Link.
That's good, though. She's has her own unique identity, perhaps inspired by Link's. We'll all find out when Legends is finally released.
@Gauchorino The only thing that's really similar between her and Link is just the color pallet. With the use of green and browns for the clothes and blond hair.
It's actually nice for her to have her own design. If it was just link with longer hair I would cared less.
Know what I like best about her?
She's got a character, a background.
She was originally designed as a sister figure to Link.
The fact that she's not a stupid gender swap makes her much more interesting and appealing as a character, and I can't wait to play as her in HWL.
you guys are all perverts...not saying i dont want a complete over the top bad animated hentai or whatever...we all want that ofcourse...
@gcunit Just do a simple rule 34 research.
When will we get Prince Zeldan ?
@amiiboacid And...?
a) Doesn't mean she's not over 16 (age of consent in UK), or even 12 (age of consent in parts of Africa and Asia).
b) There is no 'age of consent' when it comes to fantasy art and imagination. Don't tell me you've never had private thoughts about Angelica in Rug-rats, or Pebbles in the Flintstones...
@gcunit 16 is the age of consent in some places but you cannot have sex with somebody 18+ in some of those places as well. Also the law extends to drawn pornography. It states that there can't be any thing that looks like a minor.
So many talented people out there.
Very nice!
Why making articles about average fanarts?
@Vetus
I'll bite. Why not?
Those were cool and I'd probably not have seen them without this article.
