Following the overnight success of iOS sensation Flappy Bird, newly founded French indie developer Carbon Fire Studio has announced that its first game — Frenchy Bird — will be released on the Wii U eShop in North America before the end of the year, with a release likely within other regions.
Players will take on the role of a Parisian pigeon and be required to navigate through the streets of Paris whilst avoiding lamp posts. To enhance the classic arcade experience, players will be able to share their score on Miiverse and make their way through the top 100 worldwide ranking.
In addition to this, the game will feature 3D visuals, unlockable stamps for use within Miiverse, and an Off-TV play function.
If the idea of a shameless but possibly solid imitation of Flappy Bird (itself a clone, some would argue) for the Wii U would interest you — we also have SPIKEY WALLS on the way — let us know in the comments below.

Two Flappy Bird clones? Really hope eshop doesn't become the app store or else well have huge chunk of cheaply made clones or shovelware
Day-1 buy if there's a button to make the pigeon poop in the game!
"Draw me like one of your french birds!"
There seems to be an ongoing interest in the Flappy Bird concept, and considering this "indie developer" got a WiiU devkit just for this, the confidence isn't lacking.
At least there's an attempt at a twist and at improved visuals. That having been said... nope. Double nope.
With a side of 'Wth eshop?'
This kind of laughable. Don't know what much to say.
@kukabuksilaks exactly! I was alright with one, but not more than one.
Its like ants: "Where there is one, there are many"
Probably all banking on the "lol, its cheap, i buy it just because its so poooooooooooooooooooooooooooopy and it pisses off others" people.
With such an atitude, even "games" like that are lucrative. Just be prepared to see lots and lots more in the future.
While the game itself isn't too exciting, I will say that the feature of Miiverse Stamps caught me off guard. I didn't know third parties could put stamps in their games.
After spending hours defending Spikey Walls I dont feel like defending a game named Frenchy Bird b/c it sounds too much like Flappy Bird - 2 syllable F word followed by bird. This does at least look different though, so if he changes the name to "Paris Pigeon" I would be ok with it. I know that may seem nit picky and semantics to some, but for me its sll about first impessions and what comes up when you Search. If you type in Bird you shouldnt get 2 very similar games.
Great this the start of good eshop games being buried by a load of rubbish clones, oh well it was good while it lasted.
@Jazzer94
How exactly do eShop games get 'buried'? If you sort them by rating/sales, all these crap games will be at the bottom and all you will be seeing are the good ones.
@Beetlejuice You're assuming that most people don't want Flappy Bird clones, @Jazzer94 is right as if the price is cheap enough then it will probably get better sales than Mario Kart 8 (~2.5 million so far).
@Grumblevolcano
Not assuming anything. I have no problem with any of these types of games appearing on the eShop. I am just confused by the idea that having these budget/knockoff games on there is going to somehow create problems for all the high quality and highly rated content on there.
These people seem to imagine some bizarre scenario where someone goes on to the eShop looking to buy a great game, and instead of Shovel Knight they either intentionally or accidentally buy The Letter.
Stuff like that doesn't happen. If someone buys a cheap $.99 game, they know what they are getting. If they buy a $14.99 game, they know they are getting something with a little more effort out into it.
It's easy to filter the good from the bad, and I believe most consumers go to the eShop with an idea of what they want anyway, so having these cheapo games sprinkled throughout the eShop doesn't detract from anything.
@RCMADIAX At least these guys have put some effort into their "clone"
@OorWullie
Ya, I was on this guys side before but he just made himself look like an idiot here.
I was going to buy his game, but that's not likely now.
Nice 3D graphics (if a little rough), Stamps, leaderboards...
See? Just a little love can make a clone look appealing.
It could still be an unplayable buggy mess though.
@Jazzer94 ikr it sucks! Nintendo should control this kind of stuff.
Looks like it took far, far more effort than Spikey Walls.
@rjejr You probably spending more time defending the game than the developers spent making it.
@russellohh - Good one.
Probably more time than anyone will spending playing it either.
Now those are some pretty graphics for this kind of game...and the pigeon with the little hat is somewhat nice.
The clone wars will be interesting...
Spikey Walls have the strength of being more famous (particularly here), coming from a developer with a handful of Wii U games already, and probably being cheaper...
This one on the other hand have the strength of having better graphics, the 3D camera angle and more features as far as we know...
After the Letter success (in the So Bad its good category) is no wonder developers believe there is a market out there for people seeking the most awesomely bad game on the Wii U eshop.
Haha that looks cute, but let's hope the clone games stop.
I was gonna ask if Frenchy was a real word, but apparently it is. [Or at least in dictionary.com]
How much clones will we see on the eshop? 5? 10? 20? I dunno.
@RCMADIAX I think you'll find the quote is "Begun, the clone wars have"
Cost?
I can't wait to play this game! Oh wait... I already have.
@Yorumi Truer words have never been spoken.
Really? Why would they have 2 CLONES of a game that the trend is pretty much over. I doubt either of these games will get much attention. I've played flappy bird-one of the million of free copies. It's so simple. If any more of these "Mooching Titles" are created, I'm sure they will get a lot of hate from places like Miiverse. So let's hope that no more clones are created. I'm just hoping by now that no one tries to make a Clash of Clans clone on Wii U, because that would be a little sad..
Oh no! Really?!
