Yesterday’s direct got me excited for animal crossing again so I’m heading back to clean up my island and get things ready for the new content! Will also be picking away at Metroid Dread. Metroid is one of my favorite series, up there with Legend of Zelda so I’m really enjoying it! Eastward is another one I’ve gotten into that I’ll certainly get back to at some point. After a little dry spell for me the switch is picking up steam again with Pokémon arceus, botw 2, monhun expansion, and new AC content. Now if I could find an Oled model to swap my OG switch with I’d be in heaven.
I'm one of those people who think that pokemon was getting bloated so the thought of pokemon being cut down to a few quality picks and then those getting a focus via regional variants or some new evolutions definitely excites me. I'm very much looking forward to this game and to future games if this is their new course.
Quick question @ShogunRok, the HUD/inventory screen being small was an issue in the original release. Have they taken steps to minimize that issue here? Especially in portable mode?
Nice job on the review @ShogunRok! Your review on pushsquare was the reason I bought the game on PS4 way back when and I enjoyed every single second of it there. I'm really happy this port turned out to be decent and that others can enjoy this masterpiece in storytelling on their system of choice! And portably nonetheless!
@Franz learn enemy weaknesses and exploit them like crazy! Knocking enemies down and using an all out attack is gonna be your bread and butter for beating everything including most bosses. Also, for a first playthrough focus on only the social links for the party characters you like to use and then a couple who are your favorites. And don't forget to grind a few levels every once in a while.
@Moroboshi876 if you have any interest in the games whatsoever then just play XC2. The stories stand on their own, with recurring themes just like the final fantasy games.
I feel like this is just worst case scenario to cover themselves. Like a "hey, just to let you know your saves aren't guaranteed after your subscription expires" but in actuality they won't be deleted immediately after it lapses and their will be a grace period just not a defined one.
I could see this working good single screen on switch. Just hold down a button to blow up the map sorta like hollow Knight and draw stuff with your finger on the touch screen. Then when you are done let go of the bottom and it returns to a smaller size and gameplay resumes instantly.
Awesome to hear! I'll be picking it up soon enough, attempted to play it on my phone and got annoyed with the controls. I loved what I played of it though!
Have both the velocity games on PS4 and I can confirm they are awesome games! Probably double dip on 2X since handheld mode would be the perfect way to experience it.
Just picked up a switch last week on a whim, been playing Breath of the Wild pretty much non-stop since. I love this little system! Definitely in a while other league from the Wii U, though a good system in its own right.
Put him in the game as a joke character please. Have him trip every 3 steps and do pitiful damage when he actually does connect with an attack. Leave him like that for a while before patching in an actual moveset for him.
@Yhdekskymmenen I've got a nexus 5x that has 2 gigs of RAM and I was able to register. Granted it's a nexus so if it won't run on it they may as well not release at all lol
@CharlieSmile I assume you would like to see a female version of Nathan Drake, Mario, Kratos, Master Chief, Donkey Kong, ect. as well? I'm not saying it's a bad idea but it just doesn't make sense to change the gender of an iconic character that already has an extensive world built around it other than to confuse and anger parts of the fan base.
@rjejr ok yeah I see what you mean now and totally agree that a streaming box for VC would make perfect sense, but that's the problem. It makes sense so there's no way Nintendo would do that.
@rjejr difference there is that Sony has phones, tvs, tablets, ect. that all utilize ps now so they aren't really hurting themselves. Nintendo only has consoles, so if someone could play on a tv or phone or set top box that's not Ninty branded why would they buy a console? Just grab one of those pro controllers and attach it to one of those and go. Now a Nintendo branded streaming box would be interesting, but for my sake and others like me (really poor internet here) I hope it never comes to that or that there is always an option for physical carts.
@Blester so then if that's the case I would assume that the scalability Nvidia was talking about would come into effect based on whether the Switch itself was attached to power or running off of battery.
@Leeman only problem I have with "amassing a huge digital library on vita" is the price of those memory cards. I mean come on Sony, get with the times, everyone uses microSD nowadays sheesh.
@Damo most of LG's phones have a removable battery. Most recently the V20 which I personally prefer over the G5, but to be fair this article isn't about listing all the phones with swappable batteries, it's about the power bank. So with that in mind it's an excellent review and useful for Nintendo fans especially with the onset of mobile Nintendo games. Everyone should own a good power bank!
@Captain_Gonru I think @rjejr may have been referring to the age of the PS3 not that particular game. Also wasn't there a DS version of Ni No Kuni released in Japan and that game was reimagined for the PS3?
@AlphaJaguar Camelot should handle Golden Sun. They started the franchise and they've done well with it so far. Monolith games work off of a completely different template. Not saying it wouldn't be interesting to see Monolith's take on the series mind you.
I would like to see some new franchises on NX personally. Don't get me wrong I love all of these games and most of the Nintendo staples but I think Splatoon shows that new franchises would draw more attention to NX than anything that's not called Mario, Smash, Kart, or Zelda. Fact is, those that have gotten franchise fatigue from are more likely to give NX a second look if there are new interesting games that they don't feel like they've experienced before.
As long as the graphics are on par/better than Wii U and the handheld part has a reasonable battery life it'll be fine for me. I play Nintendo games for gameplay and artstyle more than ultra real graphics. Also, question for those more tech savvy than me. If NX does use cartridges could extra chips be included to increase performance similar to SNES games or are cartridges just strictly storage only nowadays?
@Jin15 that pic is a thing of beauty. Actually bought a pink ags-101 for cheap off eBay because it was in really bad shape. Swapped the internals and screen into my original silver and now have what is birth my favorite handheld and childhood in my pocket.
I'll grab this one digital. It's not the type of game I need a physical version of. No need for me to take a copy away from a collector looking to pick up that key chain.
Woolly World and Mario Maker on 3DS is amazing. New Pikmin on 3DS? Yup, I'll pick that up as well. Ever Oasis looks to be good as well and from a creator of the Mana series no less. Gives me plenty to do while I wait for some good games to hit the NX. After the Wii U I'll be waiting this time around until there are some games I just have to have there. Unless the launch lineup blows me away, then I'm all in.
Edit: Forgot Sports Mix, if the games are indeed more than just "mini games" that would really go over well with me. Haven't been excited for a Mario Sports game since Strikers Charged hit the Wii.
Echoing everyone else, there are too many great games on the SNES to pick a top three. Maybe a top 25, but that would still be pushing it. Still waiting for more of these awesome games to become available on 3DS VC. Love having them on that little guy as they don't looked as crappy on it's screen as they do on my cheap flatscreen TV.

Repping gen 3 for these polls. Sapphire was my first and me and my trusty Blaziken went from Torchic to champion in a single day.

@Kochambra Depend on which you're into: turn based jrpg comfort food or Western action rpg with some very game of thrones style mature content.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Has Plans To Revive A "Dead And Buried" Game
What was the eternal darkness spiritual successor? Maybe has something to do with that...
Edit: Shadow of the Eternals was the name, would also be cool if it was Metroid Dread
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 15th)
Probably be playing Torna mostly. Definitely one of the best dlc/expansions I've bought since The Witcher.

@Franz brilliant game! Wish we'd get a Personal 5 "Crimson" on Switch. But not sure if that'll ever happen.

Nothing for me for a bit as I'm well into Xenoblade 2 and have Torna lined up after that.

A whole lot of Hollow Knight and some more fiddling in the Valkyria Chronicles demo for me this week.
