@sandman89 agreed! I really hope that the island trials and team skull are a much tougher challenge than what we got in X & Y. Or at least have two difficulty levels like FE. Casual could include the updated EXP Share and easier battles and Veteran could have the old EXP Share or none at all and tougher battles.
@GrailUK if you are on the mobile site and reading a review you have to click on "overview" in the orange box at the top and scroll down the info. The price is in there.
I'm actually liking the Alolan forms more than the new pokemon but that's maybe because I grew up with gen 1. I will say though that Exeggutor wasn't one of my favorites to begin with, but now it's just terrifying.
Might look into that n3DS bundle. The c-stick on my Hyrule Edition XL is beginning to act a little funny and I've been looking for a cheap replacement. Plus those faceplates and face buttons look fantastic.
@NintendoFan4Lyf thanks for the reply! I guess I'll be skipping this one as I don't have anyone else brave enough to buy it with me in order to play multiplayer.
A new Professor Layton (not up to Nintendo of course), Monster Hunter 5 (maybe a little too early with generations out now), Metroid Prime (would probably sell like crap), and Xenoblade X port assuming there's no backwards compatibility would all make me very happy.
I'm extremely confused about what this game is. Is it just a multiplayer game? Is blast ball the main game mode or is there some sort of campaign? Is this game like a Metroid version of triforce heroes where you tackle the campaign with friends?
@CUBANEWYORKER yeah it's more of a multiplayer game...sorry forgot about Ninty's Wii/DS servers being shut down. The thing about the DSi shop is that for pretty much every game on there there's a version somewhere else or they just aren't value compared to some indie games you can get now. The only other one I can recommend is PiCTOBiTS or the Mario vs Donkey Kong game if you like puzzle games. That's literally the only other games I've ever played DSi ware wise.
@CUBANEWYORKER if you want an old school platformer ala Mega Man I recommend Dark Void Zero. It's made by Capcom and is a real gem. Another that's pretty neat is Dragon Quest Wars.
@BlueNitrous you "capture" (you don't keep them like in the mainline games) those Pokemon so that you can use there abilities to clear environmental hazards such as putting out fire with a water type or smashing rocks/moving heavy items with a fighting type. You can also use their abilities when attempting to capture other Pokemon.
@CUBANEWYORKER there's a shantae game that's DSi ware only I believe. If you're into that sort of thing.
Edit: Just looked it up, it's Shantae: Risky's Revenge, and apparently there's a Director's Cut version out now so you can get it on Wii U or PS4, and X1 I'm assuming.
Haven't finished a Pokémon game since platinum. Found the Pokémon designs in black and white unappealing. Story was was a huge step forward from what I experienced of it but the game just didn't hold my attention. Played X but couldn't get over the whole "group of friends instead of a rival" and found that it was just super easy. Sure these games aren't meant to be hard by any means but at least make the gym leaders a challenge. These new games really have my attention with the island trials. If the represent a bigger challenge, I'm all for buying into them.
Edit: I've been playing the games since Ruby/Sapphire (which are my favorites based purely on them being my first) so I may just be getting series fatigue.
@gamermole looks about right based on the rumors. A little uncomfortable maybe with those sharp edges though. Really interested to see if the free form display will come into play somewhere here.
I remember seeing this opinion expressed before on this site but I'd like to see Pokemon take the route of Fire Emblem Fates. Have one version for veterans who want a challenge and another for those who just want to enjoy the game without worrying about it being too difficult.
For HM moves just have an item that the Pokemon can hold that enables the move outside of battle only and maybe raises a stat or something. You could get these from gym leaders instead of the usual TM.
@liveswired because he's "silly." Says so right in his name. I suggest those who want it buy it on the platform with the most comfortable controller for them. Reason being, if they get really into it they won't get terrible hand cramps during those long sessions.
@John_Enigma As far as I know that's never happened. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong.) Nintendo like to do their own thing and create their own IPs around very specific gameplay ideas so they don't really have a use for IPs from other companies. Those IPs usually come with very specific expectations from fans on how they should play, look, and sound and would be hard for new developers to take artistic freedoms with anyway. Just look at the mixed reactions from Metroid Other M or Castlevania Lords of Shadow for example. In this case if what @TheWPCTraveler said is true and there are indeed quite a few Hudson employees in Nd Cube then there may have been a request from them to obtain this IP or Nintendo may be planning to use it for one of their mobile games instead of risking tarnishing one of their own IPs.
I'll be there dabbling in the For Fun and Fan Fighter ones. Look for me (VictorySong12) I'll be playing either as Dark Pit or Lucina. Probably Lucina a lot. Good luck everyone and have fun!
My jaw is still on the floor...paid the $10 and since I haven't picked up any of these games yet I got a really good deal. You actually did something consumer friendly NoA! GOOD JOB!
@LinkSword just because Sega won't be there doesn't mean Atlus won't I guess...Atlus is still kinda treated like a separate company so maybe they will show up
Looks like Nintendo is set to own E3 once again this year! Love the digital events and directs that they put on as they can do so much more and bring much more humor into them than they can in a stage presentation.
@SmithJurd "make a killing selling Nintendo branded drives" you mean like Microsoft and the proprietary 360 drives? No thanks. Think about the Vita with its expensive proprietary memory cards compared to the 3DS and its compatibility with any SD/microSD cards. I think Nintendo are doing things right letting us use whatever drives/cards we want.
@bro2dragons this might be a little bit of a late reply but is it possible to use two hdd with the Wii U yet? That would make it pretty simple to plug in one in the front ports and the other in the back and use the Wii U to transfer individual files over to the new drive. Just a thought, I'm not sure if they have implemented support for two drives yet though.
Like some others here I'll wait for a price drop. I may cave before that though just to support the dev willing to make their game exclusive to the eshop and actually come up with a creative use for the gamepad.
I'm gonna just wait for the game to be released and see just how much content is in one version. Maybe they couldn't fit all of the content onto one cart and this is their way of dealing with that? If one path has a small amount of content then I'll wait for the price to go way down on them before I throw any of my money down.
@Yrreiht I'm pretty sure you can play the 2nd one without knowing much about the first one's story. The mechanics are all similar but the story doesn't tie into the first game I don't think. It's been a long time since I played them.
Edit: Basically they took everything in the first game and refined it to make it better and made a whole new story seperate from the first games.
@Jamester0722 GameStop strikes again! Lol seriously though that's some rough luck. Maybe you'll get lucky and the order will arrive early. I have that happen pretty often with Amazon.
All I got from this article was lower costs for production which means more risks can be taken with games. If that translates to us getting F-Zero, Metroid, and some other ignored franchises back then I'm all for it. It also allows for more risks to be taken in games instead of sticking with tried and true formulas a la NSMB (which isn't always a bad thing mind but variety in gameplay within a franchise is always good).
Launch it a month after Xenoblade on 3DS. It'll get some hype going. Oh and use the European localization for the U.S. to save money. The voice acting in XC was part of what made the game so enjoyable.
@ShadJV speaking of the wild wingull on the beach I would've loved to have been able to sneak up on them for a horde battle. Maybe this is game freak's new plan for the series? Making pokemon visible instead of random encounters?
I'll just use the GamePad or a pro controller...don't really need the clutter and can accept that new consoles mean new controllers to get used to, especially if they're from Nintendo. I really like the gamepad anyway only wish it had analogue triggers but other than that it's awesome.
