5 is suitable. I´ve played it as a bonus game in Shenmue, and that´s enough for me. Space Harrier is a cult classic, but it didn´t get me hooked. Expensive price too, especially since us DC-lovers can play it for free...
Yup, Retrousb makes fine adapters as well. But 3 in 1 is very good. Only thing missing for me is a Mega Drive socket. Having Mega games mapped to SNES buttons gets confusing at times.
I prefer the first Fantasy Zone over FZ II. The warps interrupt the flow of the game and confuse me. Corbie prefers the design of this game, but I think the first game had a fresher (and trippier) look. That includes the bosses.
I´ve played Super Fantasy Zone a bit too. I was somewhat disappointed that it didn´t add much to the experience, but I guess most people prefer it over the 8-bit versions.
Oh yeah! At last a WiiWare to look forward to! I´m gonna get this one for sure! Judging from the screenshots it won´t be anything special when it comes to visuals or innovations, but hopefully it plays as good as the other 2D Contras.
Contra and Metal Slug are the same run-and-gun genre, yes. But Contra is more action and testosterone if you ask me. Super Probotector/ Contra III is one of the most bad-ass games I´ve ever played.
(And here´s hoping for a EU-localisation as Probotector Rebirth Go robots!)
Like Drake said, Nintendo sold Rare. Perfect Dark is a great game though, so it´s a pity for those who don´t have a 360. Or a N64. Congratulations to the 360 owners!
Oh. I didn´t see that one coming I never owned those games. Now that storage is solved and all, I might actually pick up Mario Kart and Pilotwings someday. Pleasant news indeed,
Toribash has a too steep learningcurve for me. The controls are basically an animationprogram where you have to input every joints motion. I think it´s a great idea, but to complicaded to play.
The sequel to River City "Downtown Special: Kunio-kun no Jidaigeki Dayo Zenin Shuugou!" is not really in the same league as the first game, but pretty cool anyway. Some of the more amusing features of the first game are gone, and playing with an AI-partner doesn´t work very well. I suppose it is fun to play in co-op though.
Uncharted Waters? Cool! I really want that game to reach our shores, my brother used to play it a lot. Don´t worry about Majora, you´ll get it sooner or later.
Crystal Bearers seems like a pretty strange game. An actiongame (or action RPG) in the FF universe where you hurl enemies around? I´m glad the game seems to focus on a single player quest at least, unlike other Crystal Chronicles titles.
I don´t have high hopes on this one, but I´d be happy if Square-Enix surprised me with a good game!
But Banjo Kazooie had me confused. Why is the review posted in the Virtuual Console section when the game has not been released (and probably never will be) on VC? I suppose it should belong to the retro- part of the site instead.
As long as you don´t lose focus on the VC / WiiWare coverage I´m pleased with the redesign
If Capcom decides to release Arcade titles, it will probably be from their early days, just like Namco´s offer. Chances are high that we will see games from Capcom Arcade Classics vol 1 &2. Since I only own #2, games like Final Fight and Son Son would be great news.
If I can dream, unported games like Aliens vs Predator and Red Earth would be fantastic. But like many have pointed out, very unlikely.
@StarDust: Nintendo should definitly release their own arcade games. VS Super Mario Bros is a very challenging remix, and arcade versions of Donkey kong, Mario Bros and Punch out would be sweet as well.
I might pick this up one day, graphics and gameplay seems very nice. I love Mike Tyson´s Punch Out! Pity they removed the rounds. It was great to hear Doc´s advice and the opponents taunts in between
@odd69: Yes, that´s the game! Master Higgins is a constantly starving hero. The health decreases like a timer if you don´t get fruit to eat, so in the end you have to run all the time.
@President_Leever: This is clearly a game for swedes! @Outrunner: Don´t stare yourself blind on the score, if you enjoy cute plattform-shooters of game you might just like it
The first Alex Kid game may be a bit overrated in my book, but still enjoyable. It kept me wondering about the sequels, and now I guess I should stay away. Judging from the review and filmclip it´s a dull affair, competing with Hi- Tech World about being the worst game to bear the Alex Kid name. Pity about the lad, hope Shinobi World is okay at least.
I agree, this has to be one of Nintendos worst games. Clu Clu Land is very frustrating and repetitive. And while music is often catchy in older game, the themes in Clu Clu Land are just dull. I can´t recommend this game.
In my opinion, Wonderboy III: Monster Lair is one of the very best Mega Drive titles.
It´s a very amusing cute ém up/ run and gun with an excellent 2 player mode. The game is very challenging (enemies are dead hard on the later levels) but the great boss designs keeps me looking forward to the next level. The dragon ride sections are the weakest part of the game, but I like the variety.
I haven´t heared the Turbo´s soundtrack, but the Mega Drive version sports an enjoyable soundtrack. Some of the tunes are jolly, some funky but most are good. Maybe except the rather hysterical bossmusic
Of course I must recommend the Turbo version instead. Monster Lair is a blast to play in 2 player mode, so I wouldn´t mind 5 more levels! (Altough I´m not good enough to complete the first 9^^ )
Fantastic news! FF IV: After is just what Wii Ware needs, and it fits in so well with the "back to basics" trend along with Mega Man 9. I doubt FFIV:tAY will be as good as the original game, but it´ll still be the greatest FFIV hack of all time!
@Bass X0 "How can you doubt the story will be as good?"
The few RPG:s which tries to follow up a storyline from a previous game rarely succeed. Final Fantasy X-2 is a frightening example. None of the driving forces behind the original game are involved in FFIV: After. Trying to follow up FFIV over 15 years later probably ended with a weaker game.
This said, being a FF-fan I look forward to this more than any other WiiWare game... maybe except Shantea
Yes, Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon 2/ Goemon´s Great Adventure is superb. Easily one of the top-3 releases for the N64, and one of the most amusing plattformers I´ve ever played. It certainly deserves a VC release.
Whatever it´s called, MERCS is very nice indeed! One of the best action titles I´ve played on the Mega Drive. I too think the added original mode is excellent. I like both modes, but the original mode has more stuff in it like the shop and extra characters. Pity there is no co-op, but it´s a very enjoyable shooter anyway. Plus, the background stories in the different modes are completely different and hillarious fun!
My first thought was "Hudson ripps off Killzone", but ok, this is completely different. I suppose it´s positive that a new genre enters Wi Ware, but Hudsons experience of making fps is zero, correct?
@Tony "Is Formation Z any relation to Capcom's Section Z? Inquiring minds want to know "
No. Formation Z is an awfull run ´n gun whare you transform into a fightercraft when you have to go over water. It has absolutely terrible controls and is also very repetitious. The fightercraft constantly loses fuel too, it adds to the frustration. I sincerely hope it never reaches the west, and pity the japaneese.
Wery interesting! The fighting genre needs fresh takes like this, and if it´s avaliable on Wii I don´t mind! Hopefully it´s fun to play as well. I´ll check out the PC version to start with.
Hm, I don´t think I´ll update my Bomberman 93´to 94´. I like tha games, but one is enough (wish they had released 94´first, but this is the way VC works). Twinbee is okay for 2 players, but it´s not as crazy as Twinbee3 and later games.
MUSHA is the highlight so far for possible Hanabi candidates...

Re: New Super Mario Bros. Wii Only Multiplayer At Home
I agree with WhoKnew. Online mode never even occured to me as a good idea for this game, I want to play it with a friend at home, thats it.

Fantastic! Makes me think of Mega 64 way back when they were actually funny!
Re: Final Fantasy IV: The After Years Coming to WiiWare June 1st
Hm, I didn´t reflect over the episode- thing before. That´s a bit of a letdown, I hoped they would have put the pieces together for the VC relesase =/

No more whining from me! Best news ever, I celebrated with downloading Super Mario RPG, Cho Aniki and Ys Book 1&II

About time. I hope FF1 will be an import in europe. And perhaps a FFIV release when it´s time for "the After"?

Aye! Superb news, storage issue solved! Has anybody tried it, does it work fine?
Arcade games for VC? Fine by me!
Re: EU VC Update: Super Punch-Out!!
We needed this one! Another good quality game for SNES. I can live with the one-game thing... but don´t make it a habit, Nintendo

... Monster lair is pretty fun, but since we already have the Turbo version... Yes, a pretty bad update.
Re: Review: Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen (SNES)
Since Super Mario RPG was released in Europe without german/french options, I think this would be a regular import priced 900 points.

Re: USA VC Update: Commodore 64 Launches With Three Games

Re: USA VC Update: Commodore 64 Launches With Three Games
@Bass X0 Exactly. I just think it´s greedy to hold back the superior upgrades.
Re: USA VC Update: Commodore 64 Launches With Three Games
C64 for the US is good news. It could open up for worldwide MSX emulation, but I won´t hold my breath.
Pity they release "plain" IK instead of IK+ just like in Europe. Last Ninja is pretty cool though, if you can live with completely awkward controls.
