For some reason this list reminds me of old pirate carts for the NES with "9999 games in 1" where a few titles are given non sense names. "Zombie" is bound to be a development title, but it´s just so generic
Well, of course most games will stay on the service as long as it lasts. But the thing is, it´ll most probably not be around forever. If I may speculate, I think Nintendo will support the service 3-5 years after the last Wii is manufatured. The games I´ve downloaded will be on my harddrive and SD card for as long as they last.
I still think regular cartriges and CD:s have a more reliable lifespan. If my Wii breaks ten years from now, the games will be gone. If my N64 breaks, I can still play my games on a new machine.
I´ve started to love Fire Emblem, I´ll probably go classic mode but it´s nice to have choice. I like how death matters in these games. It makes the struggle feel more important whan you know the fate of the characters lay in your hands.
Nice to see they´ve returned to a more traditional look for the game, the Shirow artwork for Shadow Dragon was so grey and dull...
This review misses out on FFIII´s amazing story and endearing characters. I think it deserves mention, since it´s one of the best tales ever told in a videogame.
For me the soundtrack is the best RPG score ever. That includes Chrono Trigger (altought that one is very good as well). Tracks like Tina, Devils Laboratory, the opera piece and Dancing Mad are just outstanding.
On a sidenote: The battle system is plays a lot faster in this title than the Final Fantasy PS1 titles (and FFX), and the interactive abilities where you use slotmachines or Street Fighter:esque commands for your attacks are great fun.
A 10/10 from me if there ever was one. Glad it got a 9 at least, though
Gasp, this is just awesome games! I already own FFIV, but it may be the best game ever. I will buy Last Resort if it comes here. Still waiting for Waku Waku 7, though. Fire Fighters (as it´s called in the west) is a cult classic, nice to see it on VC. And online Puyo puyo... cool stuff.
@JumpMad: The earlier parts were called Wonder Boy (...) in the west. They play more like a Kid Icarus than Alex Kid, some upgrading of equipment a ´la Zelda.
Hm... isn´t that "nuke" screenshot from the japaneese version named "Final Mission"? S.C.A.T. / Action in New York has the "running soldiers" intro instead. By the way, awesome that we get the best version in europe too! Arnold / Sigourny is such an epic teamup!
SCAT rocks, I sure hope they kept the legally questionable names "Arnold" and "Sigourny" for the main characters! So much more awesome than the new names in Action in New York.
Sorry, Black Tiger hasn´t aged well. The controls are very frustrating when it comes to platforming, it´s definitly not a more accessible Ghosts´n Goblins. 1942 plays decent, but seriously it´s a very unexciting design. Nothing great on VC this week.
10 / 10. This is one of my favourite games ever. Way better than the SNES games, the levels, enemies, soundefects, music... it´s ace! Superb 2 player mode too.
You can present a character in a competent or incompetent way. Feelings are good. Ellen Ripley in Aliens should be the rolemodel for Samus, Sigourny Weaver displayed a very believable mother/ child relationship while still being badass. Just like many other japaneese productions Other M:s characterization is too pathetic.
Good to see a fair review of Faxanadu. Here in Sweden the main gaming magazine keeps complaining about the difficulty, but really this game is a decent challenge. You could have mentioned the somewhat stiff controls in the review, glad you liked the graphics though! I love the fog effect.
I made the choice not to buy the game because the script turned Samus into a weak, unsecure character. Since she´s saved the universe AT LEAST 3 times before, it just don´t make sense.
Black Mages are WAAAAAAYYYYYY cooler than Cloud Strife, Lightning, Squall and Squares other post SNES:era heroes. Still, I don´t care if it´s sports, mages should always have long robes. The miniskirt doesn´t look good on the White Mage. The classic ninja looks great, I hope some Dragon Warrior job/ character/ enemy makes the cut as well.
Really. If Capcom wants to sell arcadegames, they should start off with the good ones.
It´s not very smart to release games in chronological order, since very few Wii owners have even heared about these games before (Except for Ghosts´n Goblins). Most of these games haven´t aged well and honestly, Black Tiger/Dragon and Exed Exes weren´t any good to start with.
@WhiteTrashGuy: The dream would be a Snatcher follow up that takes part directly after the PC88 / MSX game. The original game ended with a cliffhanger, and when the PC Engine and Mega CD versions were made, Konami made the rushed ending we see in the finished game.
So... a modern 100% new adventure with the original game emulated as a bonus...
Still, this´ll probably never happen. Kojima and Suda made some kind of radio theatersome years ago, and that seems to be the end of project S
@DarkEdi: My personal favourite is Real Bout Fatal Fury. It´s got the meaty graphics of this game plus an amusing ringout feature where you may break obstacles to kick your opponent out. I haven´t played Garou: Mark of the Wolf that much yet, but almost everyone hold it as the best.

THE LAST BLADE!!! We haven´t seen many VC titles latley, buy boy do they have quality!
@NTELLIGENTMAN As far as I know there is actually a PS2 collection with Last Blade 1&2.
Re: E3 2012: Meet The Wii U GamePad
@Skeletor
Chances of two gamepads at onces seems VERY low. Each extra screen would demand extra processor power.

Re: Nintendo Reveals New Super Mario Bros. 2 for 3DS
I can easily see this in my 3DS collection. The console needs some great plattforming games! Thumbs up.
Re: PEGI Rates Monster World IV for Virtual Console
Hm, the XBLA version will be upscaled... and Wii is 50hz. Decisions, decisions. Getting the game for sure, I really liked playing it in japaneese.
Re: Interview: Super Fighter Team - Developing for SNES in 2012
Thanks for the videolink, this game looks pretty sweet. Great SNES graphics!

Oh dear. Is it really this close to april

Re: Europe's Virtual Console Loses 6 Games This Month
Really?
Better stack up with some TG 16 games then. Thought about getting R-Type III as well, but I´ll buy a real cart instead.
This is really bad advertisement for digital downloads. We´ll see how many years Nintendo will support downloads for Wii.

Re: SoulCalibur V 3DS Appears on Retail Coming Soon List
Eeh? It´s possible since 3DS got Super Street Fighter IV, but I really didn´t expect it. Buying the 360 version this month though.
Re: Need for Speed: Shift Dev Creating Project CARS for Wii U
Shift 2 is very intense, this could be good!
Re: Kid Icarus: Uprising Suffers Worldwide Delay
Nintendo has my permission to delay it till 2013 as long as the game is good.
Re: UK 3DS High Street Price Drop Round-Up
Tempting, but I´ll wait until Nintendo releases exclusive games worth buying. So, a unit from Amazon in November seems pretty likely for me.
Re: 3DS Vision Lens to Change the Way You View 3D
Ha ha, I would actually need something like this

Oh yes it is. FFII is a cute game and all, but FFIII is mindblowing.

Re: Europe, Blow Up with Bomberman Hero on Friday
Neither of the Bomberman plattformers are supposed to be any good. I´ll avoid this second-rate 3D plattformer.

Wow. I´ve got this in the Monsterworld collection, I really hope we´ll get a translated version. It´s a superb game.

Re: Review: Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest (Virtual Console / Super Nintendo)
Urgh, this game isn´t very good. Really boring, basic gameplay, dull overall. There are 3 good tracks in the music though. I´d give the game a 5.
Re: Japanese Virtual Console list - October 2010
@JebbyDeringer: You said it, man. Spot on analysis, better controls and a bit longer quest would make a (spiritual?) sequel even better.
Re: Review: Plok (Super Nintendo)
I own a cart ... in german However, it feels like quality plattforming!
Re: Three More Virtual Console Titles Incoming
Yeah about time
The controls for jumping are a bit stiff, but apart from that Faxanadu is a real gem. Possibly the best music on the NES as well...
Re: Metroid 64 Was This Close to Existing
I always thought Metroid would work swell with the Mario 64 engine. Mario and Samus even share the walljump!
