Re: Capcom Interested In Doing More Retro Games

That_Guy_from_Faxana

Hm. Feels like Capcom´s best NES titles are Mega Man and the Disney games. I don´t think a new 8-bit Mega Man would be the best idea, but I´d love Ducktales 3.

A NES version of Lost Planet would kick ass too!

When making "retro style" sequels to existing games, SNES should be Capcom´s plattform. I´d buy a Mega Man & Bass 2 or X9, but a new UN Squadron, Ghosts´n Goblins or even King of Dragons would be more surprising.

Re: Castlevania Comes to WiiWare

Hopefully the new game will just be a retelling of the Castlevania Adventure story. Because the game itself is actually quite bad. The game features very few of the trademark enemies and overall it lacks Castlevania atmosphere. There are only 4 stages, and the power-up system seems to be borrowed from the Goemon series.

Well, Konami can´t fail if they aim at making the game better than the original Regarding titles, Europe has 3 different games simply named Castlevania (NES, GBA, PS2) so the name Castlevania Adventure Rebirth doesn´t have to indicate anything at all...

Eh... this game can be really easy or hard as nails, depending on what options you choose. Okay, so there´s unlimited continues, but the enemy fire of the harder levels is frantic! And if it´s too hard for you, just turn on MUTEKI mode... that´s what I did by accident =P

@Gizmo: The games are completely different. The DS game is a bit bolder in design, and the stages are incredibly hard. Great game in my oppinion.

The Wiiware game is more traditional but fun to play. And boy, the later stages are hard to beat! The 5 stages are pretty long and as the review says,, there are minibosses and stuff to keep you from compleating the game easily.

@Betagam7: The game has clearly been designed to be played with Wiimote only. With only 2 +1 (shake) buttons dualwield and smartbomb had to go.

And it´s NOT a rehash.

All levels are original, but just like every game in the series some elements in the background remains the same. There are citylevels in both this, CIII, harcorps and Shattered Soldier. I expect to see a junglelevel and an alien lair later in the game and that´s fine as long as the stagelayout is completely new.

By the way, try pressing fire+start at the titlescreen.

I found the debug menu!

By pressing the firebutton and start button on the titlescreen, you access the menu. You can try the levels as welll as a testlevel, and unlock at least one of the extra characters by choosing Test2. You can also switch on invunerability to shots and enemies, it´s called "MUTEKI"

By the way, it´s a nice run´n gun. The first boss is lovely, and stage 3 is pure insanity Super Probotector is better, but that´s no surprise since it´s best of it´s genre...

Re: Review: Super Star Wars (Virtual Console / Super Nintendo)

Well-written review. I think the game is very good but definitly has flaws, so seven is a fair score. I actually prefer this over the sequels. passwords made "Jedi" too easy, while "Empire" is just too hard anyway. The sequels revolve a lot about collecting bonus tokens (especially "Jedi") while this first game is more straight forward action. We need more games like that now that any actiongame has to be an epic adventure.

RJay: I live in Sweden. We had to buy our imports for over $150. But boy was it worth it! This game is definitly for me. It may have the bitter taste of fanservice, but it´s still a new old-school Final Fantasy.

I´ll get the main game and at least try an expansion. If I don´t like it I´ll get the final chapter anyway... gotta save the world again! And Kain is my favourite.
