Final Fantasy- about time. I hope it makes it to EU some Hanabi Festival, I like the "Origins" version, but the "un-enchanted" version would be cool to play.
Yeah, Goemon Rebirth would be fantastic! Eh, if it´s a follow up to the SNES games, not the NES one Konami has such great IP:s, Axelay, Twinbee... good stuff.
Hm. Feels like Capcom´s best NES titles are Mega Man and the Disney games. I don´t think a new 8-bit Mega Man would be the best idea, but I´d love Ducktales 3.
A NES version of Lost Planet would kick ass too!
When making "retro style" sequels to existing games, SNES should be Capcom´s plattform. I´d buy a Mega Man & Bass 2 or X9, but a new UN Squadron, Ghosts´n Goblins or even King of Dragons would be more surprising.
Hopefully the new game will just be a retelling of the Castlevania Adventure story. Because the game itself is actually quite bad. The game features very few of the trademark enemies and overall it lacks Castlevania atmosphere. There are only 4 stages, and the power-up system seems to be borrowed from the Goemon series.
Well, Konami can´t fail if they aim at making the game better than the original Regarding titles, Europe has 3 different games simply named Castlevania (NES, GBA, PS2) so the name Castlevania Adventure Rebirth doesn´t have to indicate anything at all...
It´s great that we get Tekkaman Blade as replacement! And I´ve just started to play Dead Rising, wouldn´t mind Frank, he´s an amusing guy Doesn´t seem like a reliable rumor anyway. Still hope for Pizza Cats...
Pretty cool arcadegames. I don´t have many fond memories of the era, in Sweden you had to be 15 years everywhere to play. Games like Rygar (and Ninja Gaiden) are pretty interesting anyway since they are completely different from the console versions.
It´s true that Street Fighter part 1 is pretty terrible, but I was still glad to be able to play it on Classics vol 2. I was curious about the origin, and I guess some would like to try it on VC too. But no, we don´t need another version of SFII.
Eh... this game can be really easy or hard as nails, depending on what options you choose. Okay, so there´s unlimited continues, but the enemy fire of the harder levels is frantic! And if it´s too hard for you, just turn on MUTEKI mode... that´s what I did by accident =P
@Gizmo: The games are completely different. The DS game is a bit bolder in design, and the stages are incredibly hard. Great game in my oppinion.
The Wiiware game is more traditional but fun to play. And boy, the later stages are hard to beat! The 5 stages are pretty long and as the review says,, there are minibosses and stuff to keep you from compleating the game easily.
@Betagam7: The game has clearly been designed to be played with Wiimote only. With only 2 +1 (shake) buttons dualwield and smartbomb had to go.
And it´s NOT a rehash.
All levels are original, but just like every game in the series some elements in the background remains the same. There are citylevels in both this, CIII, harcorps and Shattered Soldier. I expect to see a junglelevel and an alien lair later in the game and that´s fine as long as the stagelayout is completely new.
By the way, try pressing fire+start at the titlescreen.
By pressing the firebutton and start button on the titlescreen, you access the menu. You can try the levels as welll as a testlevel, and unlock at least one of the extra characters by choosing Test2. You can also switch on invunerability to shots and enemies, it´s called "MUTEKI"
By the way, it´s a nice run´n gun. The first boss is lovely, and stage 3 is pure insanity Super Probotector is better, but that´s no surprise since it´s best of it´s genre...
Whooa! Contra Rebirth! I haven´t bought anything for Wii for months, but boy will that change now! It´s got to be awesome! Pity about the Probotectors, but I never expected to see them anyway.
Well-written review. I think the game is very good but definitly has flaws, so seven is a fair score. I actually prefer this over the sequels. passwords made "Jedi" too easy, while "Empire" is just too hard anyway. The sequels revolve a lot about collecting bonus tokens (especially "Jedi") while this first game is more straight forward action. We need more games like that now that any actiongame has to be an epic adventure.
I´ve been longing for more Neo Geo games, we haven´t seen any for months... These are my top wishes:
Shock Troopers Blazing Star Aero Fighters 2 Aero Fighters 3 Twinkle Star Sprites Viewpoint Waku Waku 7 The Last Blade The Last Blade 2 Garou: Mark of the Wolves World Heroes Perfect Karnovs Revenge
Like Corbie said, no surprise. A bit of a dissapointment, though. VC has been a great thing with even greater potential. Nintendo think they can force Wii Ware on me? Hmpf.
2 VC games, not bad Ogre Battle and Pulseman were my top 2 choices of the bunch, so I´m very pleased with the update! I´ll surely get Ogre Battle one of these days, waiting for the review of Pulseman.
He he, another one off the checklist. And you know, I´m actually buying an Earthbound cart. Once I´ve done that the game is sure to be avaliable on VC anyday. I´m doing it all for you!
RJay: I live in Sweden. We had to buy our imports for over $150. But boy was it worth it! This game is definitly for me. It may have the bitter taste of fanservice, but it´s still a new old-school Final Fantasy.
I´ll get the main game and at least try an expansion. If I don´t like it I´ll get the final chapter anyway... gotta save the world again! And Kain is my favourite.
"possible additions of several new characters" is good enough for me. At least Casshern is still there, and in the end we will (probably) get more characters than Japan.

I´ve enjoyed Stemages earlier Metroid recordings, nice that he assambled a band.
Re: Japanese Virtual Console list - September 2009
@Fuzzy:
No, this is the 3:rd SNES Goemon. We have the first. The sequels are better than "Nystical Ninja" but it´s still a pretty good game.

Ordyne for Europe! We haven´t even got the Turbo Grafx version...

Re: What LucasArts games do you want to see on Virtual Console?
Metal Warriors! The best mech-action ever.
Zombies would be welcomed by many too.
Re: Nintendo Download: Kindred Spirits, Rock N' Roll, Star Wars and Different Art (US)
Yes, Super Star Wars is great! Anyone who likes run´n gun should pick it up.
Re: LucasArts Bringing Classic Games to Virtual Console
@Zork2
METAL WARRIORS!!!
But Super Star Wars is pretty amazing, hardcore plattform action! The best in the trilogy imo.
Re: What Neo Geo games do you want to see on the Virtual Console?
@73: But... but Shock Troopers is the ONLY game I want from that collection ;_; I´ve already got Samurai Shodown II and Metal Slug Anthology...
Still, a nice deal for those who want 2 or more games on that disc.
Re: What Neo Geo games do you want to see on the Virtual Console?
@48: Yeah, that´s true, SNK made some nice NES games as well! One must buy:
Crystalis

I would like to see:
Alien vs Predator (Arcade)

Megaman X (Super NES)
Not much chance on the arcade games, but asking doesn´t hurt

Re: Capcom Wants To Know Your Favorite TvC Characters
Chun-Li and Gold Lightan (Because he looks large and bad ass!)

Re: Aliens: Colonial Marines DS Trailer Leaked?
Woa. Looks like a pretty solid actiontitle to me!

@Starwolf UK:
Ninja Gaiden 2 came out as Shadow Warriors 2 here in Sweden. We didn´t get Ninja Gaiden 3 at all, did you britts?
Re: The Hanabi Festival Returns to Europe Next Month
Come on Ogre Battle! Zoda would be very welcome (although I never finished Star Tropics) and Pulseman looks like a fun game.
