You got some nice VC games in the US lately! I hope some of the best Neo Geo titles make it to the VC this year, it´s been a while since the latest release...
I vote no exclusives at all, it´s just stupid to give different games to different regions. I´m so envious about the MSX! I enjoy Impossible Mission, so I´ll try the sequel some day.
I agree with you 100% President Leever. The hangglider is awful, and there are a lot of tubes etc where you don´t actually controll Sonic. I even prefer Sonic Adventure over this. Save your points for Sonic 1 and the Mega Drive games instead.
Ha ha, lowest ranking to date? Besides, I never played Nintendos Ice Hockey "back in the days", but I think it´s #"%# genoius! I´ve never had so much fun with a hockey game. Hockey A S on the other hand seems to be an embarrasing cash-in. I bet we´ll see it on the top 3.
"nowhere near as good as its console counterpart." I´d say nowhere near as good as it´s preceedor either. The first Sonic for MS has way better levels. The veicles in this game just slows things down, btw. Get another Sonic game instead.
I celebrated the VC release of Metal Slug 2 by playing the Antholohy. Great game, a lot more entertaining than MS1! Feels a bit weird to kill all those stereotype arabs on stage 1, but I dig the mummys! I suppose it´s even better on VC since you can use the classic controller, but I´ll survive.
Devastator, the Contra on XBLA is the arcade game. That´s true for the rest of the "Nintendo" games as well. I´ve read some complaints about the Contra port, so I´m not jealous. But of course we should have NES classics like that game by now.
MUSHA is very welcome, and MERCS is lots of fun as well. The Mega Drive version of MERCS may lack 3 player support, but it includes both the arcade game and a very good console exclusive set of levels.
This is what you wanted, right? I like CV III a lot, one of my favourites in the series! The legendary soundchip is not needed since music is great in its own right, but it would have been cool if it was emulated.
I never liked Devil World, it´s a pretty simple concept. Ghost ´n Goblins? Cool, but too hard and awkward controls.
Oh well, we can´t have it all. As far as I know Iga wasn´t involved in the 16-bit titles anyway, but an old-school game could have been sweet.
The best scenario is that Judgement turns out to be Wii:s Power Stone, but I don´t hold my breath for that game. Still, Judgements design has taken too much of a beating, it may not look like Symphony of the Night but it´s not terrible
Mayhem in Monsterland? Never heared about it but it seems like a very nice game. Master Systems scaling capabilities are a bit of a joke, and I´ll stay far away from Space Harrier.
I didn´t know Genesis SFII had group battles! Taking on each others teams is a blast in VS games. Still, Super Street Fighter II has to be the best version on the VC. Team battle (with 8 characters) is included... and so is Cammy. This version don´t have Cammy. Easy choice.
How are the feelings about Secret of Mana nower days in the rest of the world? In Sweden, a strange mana-hating trend has been rageing on forums for some years. Complaints aren´t only about the inferior translation, "broken" gamemechanics is regarded as a truth.
When SoM was released everyone was raving about how great it was, but there has been some kind of backlash. Is this a local Swedish trend?
I´m just like everybody else, bought Sin & Punishment and Gunstar Heroes... but not Dynamite Headdy.
Why? The other games had a tougher image and seemed more action-packed. I´ve been thinking about getting Alien Soldier sometime though, it costs a fortune to get it on cart! I hope to find DH for a bargain price someday.
I agree with wanderlustwarrior, this is inconvinient to the users, but will not affect DSi sales at all. I´m perfectly happy with my DS and won´t buy the DSi anyway.
Rainbow Islands Tower? Sounds like a psuedo sequel, that´s nice. Can´t go wrong with Bubble Bobble, I hope it´s a new game too. But we´re talking Taito here, will it be one stage for 500 Wii points and 98 DLC stages
@Stuffgamer1 Yup, you did have a similair statement earlier, but Waxxy´s post is the one I read so bad luck
I wish Nintendos statement was clearer though;
"transfer Virtual Console or WiiWare software stored on an SD card to the Wii console and then be able to play it."
promises nothing but enabeling us to load the software in a more convinient way than today. It´s the "then being able to play it" part that worries me, it suggests that the entire game data still has to be loaded to the harddrive. But it could be just a vague formulation. We´ll see.
Good point of view. Untill we get more info on exactly how this is going to work, all we can do is guess. We´ll just have to wait and see what happens next spring. Before that, no big downloads from me
Super Turrican 2 is a good action-game. Sadly, it could have been more than that. What made the early Turrican games great was one part raw action, one part exploration.
Super Turrican was one step towards a more straight forward game design. Turrican meets Probotector/Contra. Super Turrican 2 is entirely a conventional run´n gun. That´s not necessarily a bad thing, but it lacks much of Turricans greatness. I miss the secret areas and the hostile feeling. Some of the odd veicle/riding stages are fresh experiences in their own regard, and thankfully music is decent too. Graphics look a bit dated since it´s a compromise between pre-rendered graphics and ordinary sprites. The intro looks great though
I hope we will someday get the C64 (or [drool] AMIGA) games, but buy Super Turrican first.
Super Turrican is better than Super Turrican 2, so be sure to pick that up first. ST2 is pretty good too, but more like a straightforward actiongame. No exploration at all.
First I imagened is some Solar jetman type game with all this gravity going on, but the absorbing mechanics makes it sound like Katamari. We´ll see how it turns out.
@evilralfwiggum Yeah, pity Gamecube ports aren´t supported, I wanted to use my retroport for this too.
Compared to most games in the genre Mega Man 9 is hard, but not to extremes. With ot without weapons you still have to get through maliciously designed levels, but you can buy as many E-tanks you want. Since she shop provides averything from spike-proof boots to an item that makes you take half damage, difficulty can be ajusted.
Hopefully this allows everyone to have fun with MM9.
This feels just like when I was eleven and borrowed Mega Man 1 from my best friend. I get killed a lot, but it´s so fun I keep trying again and again. I´d almost forgotten how fun good level design can be. There are tons of fresh experiences here. Mega Man 9 is nothing like the tired old sequels, it´s way better. (Right after the original three!)
If you like action games: BUY! If you like plattformers: BUY! If you like NES games at all: BUY
The game as you describe it sounds real good, a tough challenge is just what I want. Only thing I worry about is that it could be Contra 4 (DS) hard! Contra 4 is a very good game, but unfortunatly too hard for almost everyone. I´ve never cleared the 2:nd level on Normal difficulty. But Mega Man 9 isn´t THAT hard, is it?
No, Street Fighter Champions Edition is actually just the second upgrade in the series.
Beats me why they release it now. I guess it´s because some prefer the Genesis music over the SNES music. You´d be better off with Street Fighter II Turbo if you want speed, or Super Street Fighter II if you want the characters Cammy, Fei Long, Dee Jay and T Hawk. I prefer SSFII, the SNES version is excellent.
Come on, why do they want to release the MS port of Space Harrier? The Master System wasn´t even close to handle that kind of scaling and the game is rather awful. I don´t care about an old version of Street Fighter II either, I guess that one´s for Mega Drive fans.
Get Monster Land instead, that is a superb platform/adventure! Pretty hard though, no password, save or continues! Or... there is save now I guess.
Ha ha ha, "game 250", right No, Nintendo ain´t very sentimental about those releasenumbers. Still, Sonic for Master System in very good. The C64 games are slightly interesting at least, but I´ll save space for now.
Capcom has made a press package with an artwork CD... and it comes packed as a NES game, complete with phoney cart and all! 200 of these will be on sale as well... happy bidding on E-bay, boys and girls!
Glad they kept the original GB-tetris Song A... although that upbeat techno-remix was rather awfull Lots of modes but... tetris with pieces made from 3 squares? Isn´t that tritris?
@Adam You can choose from alternate routes in this game, some are harder than the others. But I agree, Castlevania III is a tougher challenge then Super Castlevania IV.
@Bass X0 Since it don´t cost Nintendo anything extra to put an import rom up instead of a "regular rom" it DOES feel like greed. Of course I gladly buy the games I like anyway, but it shouldn´t have to be that way. No translation= no extra work= higher price anyway?
Nice graphics, pity the characterdesign is pretty bad. This game is a little interesting at least, if it plays well (and I have space left) I might get it.
