Always glad to see Neo Geo games, I don´t understand why some complain about them. Ninja Commando could be a cool shooter... and I am at least a bit curious about Art of Fighting (2). There is no guarantee that we will se the "superior" sequels on the Neo Geo series, but I do hope their very best fighting games will arive in time.
I guess 2-5 minutes games aren´t popular in the west. Perhaps we don´t have the same score-challenge tradition as Japan. I doubt I´ll buy Star Soldier R, but that can be said about most Wii Ware titles.
Pretty wellmade pictures anyway. I really hope for a way to play every downloaded game without the nuisance to erase and reload. But really, I don´t think Nintendo cares about it. But they are free to surprise me at E3...
Looks and sounds very promising! I like the tune on the cloud level (Tornadoman?) the other one sounds more like Mega Man 4 but okay. I´m so buying this game!
According to IGN the PS2 version of SNK collection suffers from both loading and slowdown, especially the fighters. I have little hope that this will get better on the Wii port. Plus, I´m not even sure us europeans will get the collection at all, I don´t see it on our releaselist.
I say it was real stupid to put "Beer Pong" on WiiWare in the first place. Something like this was bound to happen sooner or later. Now it´s just an ugly, pointless game with a stupid name.
I can live with your list since Blazing Star and Waku Waku 7 make it as runner ups. Never played them, but they look incredible!
I´m a bit surprised "meh-already-on-anthology" Metal Slug 3 (and X) make the list. But I´m all for classic controller support. so yes please! Considering the series bad reputation World Heroes Perfect is a bit surprising too. I´d love this or World Heroes Jet, if just out of curiousity.
Only game I miss is one of the Aero Fighters / Sonic Wings games. Fun co-op.
Exactly, Mavel Maniac! Though someone on a different forum corrected me when I wished for SMB4, the japaneese Mario World cover has "Super Mario Bros 4" printed on it.
But still, a Super Mario Bros.5, Castlevania 4 or Kid Icarus 3 would be pretty awesome... Follow Capcoms lead, great softwarecompanies of the NES era! SUNSOFT- RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE!
Since the concept is pretty much Castlevania: SOTN with cool enviroments and artdirection, the game doesn´t sound original. I´m sure it would sell though, and I´d definitly buy it if I had enough space on my Wii. This being said, I do understand if publishers don´t go bonkers over a pitch leaning so heavilly on Metroid and Castlevania.
I hear you, badmouthsadmouth. When Super Mario Advance was previewed for GBA I rejoiced thinking it was a true sequel to SMB2. It ended up being a remake with minor changes, I´d love to see more NES / SNES sequels. The Adventures of Link 2 would be awesome.
The first Master System Sonic is very good, perhaps the systems best plattformer. I actually prefer it over the Mega Drive game, it´s less frustrating and not too hard. Good music too.
Actually i prefer the SMS original. Super Fantasy Zone is fun, but don´t really move the series forward. There is too little innovation in it to make me excited for real. I think graphics are trippier on the SMS as well. But feel free to buy it, it´s a weird little shooter.
And yay, a Sunsoft developed game for VC! Now bring Gremlins II, Journey to Silius, Batman and... Waku Waku 7!
Ooh, Samurai Shodown II! Hope we get it too. I´ve been waiting a long time for Shining Force II as well, so it´s about time. Kiki Kai Kai would be very cool, I love the sequel Pocky & Rocky
NES graphics rock, I hope they draw mostly new sprites for this! i´m surprised that i look forward to this, I got tired of Mega Man games after MMV but long time has passed...
Mr Cheez. Miracle World is overall a bit better than Enchanted Castle. As far as I remember, the controls aren´t great, but at least better than in the Mega Drive/genesis game. I get frustrated very quick with Enchented Castle because of the controls/one hit issues. Miracle World is a bit touchy with the controlls too but I can get pretty far in that game, suppose it plays better. Still, you´ll have to live with one hit death in Miracle World as well. Feel free to download a better game.
Alex Kid in Miracle World is a bit overrated in my opinion. The game is pretty good for a Master System plattformer, but compared to genre-cousins on NES, Megadrive and SNES it fails to impress me. The first level is pretty fun, but the rest are a mixed bag. Except for the ultra-cool janken bosses, the enemy design is bland and unimaginative. It´s still worth downloading, but Wonderboy and the first Sonic game are better MS games.
... but I want MSX too... ;_; Aleste is fun, and then there´s Space Manbow, Penguin Adventure, Vampire Killer, Contora (Wierd convertion of Contra with lots of new levels) a unique (superb) entry of Parodius, Snatcher... loads of great Konami games above all.
Not to forget the ultimate version of Quarth, best puzzlegame ever. Man, those folks on Konami were talented!
Objection_Blaster, Combat in Soul Blazer is pretty much like Zelda. Teranigma feels a bit different because you use a spear, pretty innovative and definitly one of the better action RPG:s imo. Never cared much for Soul Blazer though.
What a waste. I won´t be getting this, because timelimited gameplay don´t fit me at all. It´ll just feel like playing on one of those NES demo-kiosks where games were reseted every 30 seconds. An expanded version would be an instant buy, but I can´t see that happening.
Absolutely, VC will be online for a long time. I sincerely doubt that a redownload would make the flashmemory last longer though, don´t downloads just wear it out even more? Of course if a game suddenly would disappear a redownload is needed, but I don´t think downloaded copies have a predetermined lifespan. It´s the memory itself thet can get broken if I´m correct.
Well Terranigma by the time Wii´s flashmemory is worn out, it´s unlikely that Nintendo still has the Virtual Console service online. We´re talking at least a decade here. Unfortunatly this is a downside to collecting VC games, I hope my Wii will keep running for a long time... But like Tim said, nothing lasts forever.
I can live without DoReMi Milon. This Hanabi-festival thing has been great with Cho Aniki, Star Parodier, Gradius II, Gley Lancer -and Metal Slug on top of that! I don´t mind shooters at all as long as they are GOOD!
You say Star Parodier is THAT good? I was pretty sceptic, thinking this was a cheap Parodius rip-off, but perhaps I should give it a go then. Once we get our precious harddrive or whatever Nintendo will solve that memorything with
WiiWare= no VC update was very precictible. It´s no surprise Nintendo decided to hold back the retro-games in order to put spotlight on the new.
Yeah, Europe had a great update last friday, but I´m sure history will repeat when we get Wii software. Fair enough I guess. Besides, Lost Winds might just be good ^^
Oh yeah! Cho Aniki and Metal Slug on top of that And FOUR games! I hereby forgive Nintendo for every single game week! Puyo Puyo 2: Tsuu is very good too, but I own it already. (Or at least the remixed version.)
Alright, it´s time the Americans get some of the goodies we´ve received the last weeks. Can´t wait to see what next Hanabi festival week will bring, it´s been great so far!
@Phalyn I didn´t know it would come to Wii as well. Hope for classic controller support this time around. Still, it´s far from sure we´ll get it in Europe as well, we haven´t the PS2 version yet. But some of the possible new titles (Samurai Shodown II Fatal Fury II amongst others) aren´t on that disc, so I do look forward to Neo Geo releases... and enough space to store them on, please?
I can´t recommend this. Being able to change directions on the scrolling unfortunatly don´t feel so thrilling today. Uridium gets repetative after just a few minutes of play. I never owned a C-64 back in the days, but I enjoy games like Impossible Mission, Maruder and Califonia Games anyway.
Uridium is neither worth 500 points nor 50 units of storage. Buy one of the other C-64 classics instead, you´ll have more fun with any of them.
Too early to celebrate, but I really hope Nintendo will solve the problem. I´m getting real picky with the games I download. That´s because I want to make sure there is enough space left for possible new Neo Geo games.
Mario Maniac: Super Turrican 2 was released in PAL version. Hope you are right about Cho Aniki, the first game is said to be nice. And GOOD shooters will always be welcomed by me, so yay for Gradius II!
Yes, this sounds strange. It´s highly possible it´s because of the new Bionic Commando and Rearmed, but I too think Nintendo would benefit from putting it on VC. It would surely be a synergy effetc. But we all know Nintendo always do whatever they want^^
Kelvin: No Karate game at all on my stick =) There´s 30 games but there may be differences between the versions we have. I´ve heared the PAL version differs from the NTSC version in some way at least. Lovely little toy anyway. I´m off to download Last Ninja now!
1 - Super Mario Bros. 3 - NES (No change) 2 - Super Mario Bros. - NES (No change) 3 - Mario Kart 64 - N64 (No change) 4 - Super Mario World - SNES (+1) 5 - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - N64 (+2) 6 - Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream - NES (No change)
All great games. Everyone should own them. I don´t blame the americans, they seem to have good taste... unless they download the same classics twice!

Re: Alien Crush Returns - New Screenshots and Video
Hm. A new game based on a Turbo Grafx-16 title. I sure hope Hudson limits this game to 5-2 minute sessions too!
Sorry, this looks slightly hotter than the original game. Could be fun.
Re: Bomberman Looks Like A Blast
I like Bomberman ´93. This may be a bit better, but I´ll keep playing the game I already own. I think...?
Re: Mega Man 9 - New Video, Online Leaderboards, NOT Exclusive!
What´s with the whining about the game being exclusive? As long as I can play it, I´m fine with PS & XBox owners doing it too.
Apart from this, nice demo, not too impressed by the elephant, but I´ll buy it.

An okay week after all.
Re: Most Popular WiiWare Games in America (9th July)
I guess 2-5 minutes games aren´t popular in the west. Perhaps we don´t have the same score-challenge tradition as Japan. I doubt I´ll buy Star Soldier R, but that can be said about most Wii Ware titles.
(Saving space for Mega Man 9 and Shantea)
Re: Wild West Guns - First Screenshots
Bah, Looks dull and stupid. I´ll keep playing Wild Guns on SNES instead.
Re: Mega Man 9 Will Cost 1000 Wii Points
Downloadable content? I wish they could pack in the stuff from start, but yeah, I´ll get all of it...

Re: Drake's Ratings Roundup - June 2008
I can´t believe Mario RPG will be released here unless it´s Hanabi weeks. I think we´ll have to wait at least ´till next year for it.
US gets some interesting Neo Geo titles, and Earthbound is sure to make me jealous

Re: EU VC Releases - 27th June - Super Fantasy Zone
I got a Super Fantasy Zone cart a few months ago, the Master System FZ feels fresher but it´s a good game anyway. Cybernoid looks like a fun game.
Re: Alex Kidd in Miracle World
Mr Cheez. Miracle World is overall a bit better than Enchanted Castle. As far as I remember, the controls aren´t great, but at least better than in the Mega Drive/genesis game. Yeah, I´ll get IK+! Superb music and hopefully the innovative gameplay is fun too.
Re: Super Mario RPG Released in Japan Today
"Hanabi #3=SMRPG, NG II & III, Rondo, Earthbound, Dig Dug, Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa & DoReMi me thinks."

Graphically this game looks real crappy! Unbelievably charmless cellshading. And if it plays this bad too i won´t ever have to play it, horray!

YEEEES!!! Last Ninja! One of my first-hand picks for C-64!
