Re: EU VC Releases - 11th July - Neo Geo Duo

That_Guy_from_Faxana

Always glad to see Neo Geo games, I don´t understand why some complain about them. Ninja Commando could be a cool shooter... and I am at least a bit curious about Art of Fighting (2). There is no guarantee that we will se the "superior" sequels on the Neo Geo series, but I do hope their very best fighting games will arive in time.

An okay week after all.

Re: Top 10 Neo Geo Games We Want To Come To The Virtual Console

That_Guy_from_Faxana

I can live with your list since Blazing Star and Waku Waku 7 make it as runner ups. Never played them, but they look incredible!

I´m a bit surprised "meh-already-on-anthology" Metal Slug 3 (and X) make the list. But I´m all for classic controller support. so yes please! Considering the series bad reputation World Heroes Perfect is a bit surprising too. I´d love this or World Heroes Jet, if just out of curiousity.

Only game I miss is one of the Aero Fighters / Sonic Wings games. Fun co-op.

Re: Mega Man 9

That_Guy_from_Faxana

Exactly, Mavel Maniac! Though someone on a different forum corrected me when I wished for SMB4, the japaneese Mario World cover has "Super Mario Bros 4" printed on it.

But still, a Super Mario Bros.5, Castlevania 4 or Kid Icarus 3 would be pretty awesome... Follow Capcoms lead, great softwarecompanies of the NES era! SUNSOFT- RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE!

Re: Luc Bernard's Pitch For A Castlevania-Like Game On WiiWare

That_Guy_from_Faxana

Since the concept is pretty much Castlevania: SOTN with cool enviroments and artdirection, the game doesn´t sound original. I´m sure it would sell though, and I´d definitly buy it if I had enough space on my Wii. This being said, I do understand if publishers don´t go bonkers over a pitch leaning so heavilly on Metroid and Castlevania.

Re: Super Fantasy Zone

That_Guy_from_Faxana

Actually i prefer the SMS original. Super Fantasy Zone is fun, but don´t really move the series forward. There is too little innovation in it to make me excited for real. I think graphics are trippier on the SMS as well. But feel free to buy it, it´s a weird little shooter.

And yay, a Sunsoft developed game for VC! Now bring Gremlins II, Journey to Silius, Batman and... Waku Waku 7!

Re: Alex Kidd in Miracle World

That_Guy_from_Faxana

Mr Cheez. Miracle World is overall a bit better than Enchanted Castle. As far as I remember, the controls aren´t great, but at least better than in the Mega Drive/genesis game. I get frustrated very quick with Enchented Castle because of the controls/one hit issues. Miracle World is a bit touchy with the controlls too but I can get pretty far in that game, suppose it plays better. Still, you´ll have to live with one hit death in Miracle World as well. Feel free to download a better game.

Re: Alex Kidd in Miracle World

That_Guy_from_Faxana

Alex Kid in Miracle World is a bit overrated in my opinion. The game is pretty good for a Master System plattformer, but compared to genre-cousins on NES, Megadrive and SNES it fails to impress me. The first level is pretty fun, but the rest are a mixed bag. Except for the ultra-cool janken bosses, the enemy design is bland and unimaginative. It´s still worth downloading, but Wonderboy and the first Sonic game are better MS games.

Re: MSX Hits Japanese VC, Includes Special Options

That_Guy_from_Faxana

... but I want MSX too... ;_; Aleste is fun, and then there´s Space Manbow, Penguin Adventure, Vampire Killer, Contora (Wierd convertion of Contra with lots of new levels) a unique (superb) entry of Parodius, Snatcher... loads of great Konami games above all.

Not to forget the ultimate version of Quarth, best puzzlegame ever. Man, those folks on Konami were talented!

Re: Review: Star Soldier R

That_Guy_from_Faxana

What a waste. I won´t be getting this, because timelimited gameplay don´t fit me at all. It´ll just feel like playing on one of those NES demo-kiosks where games were reseted every 30 seconds. An expanded version would be an instant buy, but I can´t see that happening.

Re: EU VC Releases - 16th May - Third Hanabi Festival Week

That_Guy_from_Faxana

Absolutely, VC will be online for a long time. I sincerely doubt that a redownload would make the flashmemory last longer though, don´t downloads just wear it out even more? Of course if a game suddenly would disappear a redownload is needed, but I don´t think downloaded copies have a predetermined lifespan. It´s the memory itself thet can get broken if I´m correct.

Re: EU VC Releases - 16th May - Third Hanabi Festival Week

That_Guy_from_Faxana

Well Terranigma by the time Wii´s flashmemory is worn out, it´s unlikely that Nintendo still has the Virtual Console service online. We´re talking at least a decade here. Unfortunatly this is a downside to collecting VC games, I hope my Wii will keep running for a long time... But like Tim said, nothing lasts forever.

Re: Star Parodier

That_Guy_from_Faxana

You say Star Parodier is THAT good? I was pretty sceptic, thinking this was a cheap Parodius rip-off, but perhaps I should give it a go then. Once we get our precious harddrive or whatever Nintendo will solve that memorything with

Re: North American WiiWare launch games

That_Guy_from_Faxana

WiiWare= no VC update was very precictible. It´s no surprise Nintendo decided to hold back the retro-games in order to put spotlight on the new.

Yeah, Europe had a great update last friday, but I´m sure history will repeat when we get Wii software. Fair enough I guess. Besides, Lost Winds might just be good ^^

Re: EU VC Releases - 9th May - Metal Slug and More Imports

That_Guy_from_Faxana

Oh yeah! Cho Aniki and Metal Slug on top of that And FOUR games! I hereby forgive Nintendo for every single game week! Puyo Puyo 2: Tsuu is very good too, but I own it already. (Or at least the remixed version.)

Alright, it´s time the Americans get some of the goodies we´ve received the last weeks. Can´t wait to see what next Hanabi festival week will bring, it´s been great so far!

Re: Nintendo Wii hard drive coming soon?

That_Guy_from_Faxana

@Phalyn
I didn´t know it would come to Wii as well. Hope for classic controller support this time around. Still, it´s far from sure we´ll get it in Europe as well, we haven´t the PS2 version yet. But some of the possible new titles (Samurai Shodown II Fatal Fury II amongst others) aren´t on that disc, so I do look forward to Neo Geo releases... and enough space to store them on, please?

Re: Uridium

That_Guy_from_Faxana

I can´t recommend this. Being able to change directions on the scrolling unfortunatly don´t feel so thrilling today. Uridium gets repetative after just a few minutes of play. I never owned a C-64 back in the days, but I enjoy games like Impossible Mission, Maruder and Califonia Games anyway.

Uridium is neither worth 500 points nor 50 units of storage. Buy one of the other C-64 classics instead, you´ll have more fun with any of them.

Re: Top 20 'popular titles' on the Virtual Console - April 2008 (USA)

That_Guy_from_Faxana

1 - Super Mario Bros. 3 - NES (No change)
2 - Super Mario Bros. - NES (No change)
3 - Mario Kart 64 - N64 (No change)
4 - Super Mario World - SNES (+1)
5 - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - N64 (+2)
6 - Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream - NES (No change)

All great games. Everyone should own them. I don´t blame the americans, they seem to have good taste... unless they download the same classics twice!
