Re: No More Robots Is Putting Out Switch 2's Next 120fps Game

ThaBEN

If I buy the dedicated Switch 2 version, do I still get access to the Switch 1 version?
Or is it better to buy the Switch 1 version and do the free upgrade?
I own both consoles and the price for both methods is identical.
Would be great if I could play on both consoles.

Re: Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection Gets Proper Physical Release On Switch 2

ThaBEN

I applaud this choice! However, you may wonder how much added value the native Switch 2 version will have over the Switch 1 version, given that this is a collection of ports of games released between 1992 and 2003. If you exclude the Game Boy Advance releases, the most recent game from this collection was released in 1997!

If there are no noticeable difference, I would still buy the more expensive native Switch 2 version, purely to support the sentiment that games are available in their entirety on a Switch 2 cartridge.

GKC need to go away.

Re: PSA: Do Your Switch 2 Joy-Con Disconnect In Docked Mode? It Might Be The HDMI Cable You're Using

ThaBEN

The theory behind this solution:

"While it sounds like it doesn't make sense.. it actually does when you look at the technical side.

While HDMI is a cable. The signal that goes through is a 2.4 GHz band signal. Which is the same as Wifi 2.4 and bluetooth!

Cheap unshielded, old cables or damaged ones might "leak" this signal, which could theoretically cause interference with other similar signals.

So using a better HDMI cable can in fact stop that interference and let the bluetooth signal roam more freely without corruption. Causing a more stable connection"

Apparently it doesn't only solve the disconnection issue, but for some a better HDMI cable also improves the distance you can sit from your dock before the Joy-Cons lose connection.

Re: Uh-Oh! Switch 2's New GameChat Feature Is Transcribing Bad Words

ThaBEN

This has me significantly worried that Nintendo uses this "speech-to-text" in combination with AI, to automatically scan your chat history for certain words they deem a risk and closely monitor those users.

Nintendo already admitted that they record video and voice audio from every chat session and the last 3 minutes of each session will be up for review and checked for "language or behavior that may violate applicable laws".

Re: 'Switch 2 Editions' Are Supposedly A Switch Game Card And Download Code For The Upgrade Pack

ThaBEN

@Grogro
That reasoning doesn't make sense to me. Now you can't lend a physical Switch 2 game to someone with a Switch 2, which is the bigger issue if you ask me.

Also, not every Switch 2 owner will own a Switch 1.

The customer is under the assumption it's buying a native physical Switch 2 game. Getting something else can be considered misleading if not more devious practices.

Re: 'Switch 2 Editions' Are Supposedly A Switch Game Card And Download Code For The Upgrade Pack

ThaBEN

@SillyG I assume if you already bought the DLC on Switch one you'll have access to it on Switch 2. If not, all hell is going to break loose.

But from the point of new consumer who never had a Switch one, I agree that those are going to have to pay a lot to get the full experience on Switch 2 for basically a 8 year old game. Without even the option to lend out or resell their physical cartridge.

Re: 'Switch 2 Editions' Are Supposedly A Switch Game Card And Download Code For The Upgrade Pack

ThaBEN

Also, a download code will mean that you can no longer share your physical "Switch 2 version" with friens and family. Only the account who claimed the download code has access to the native Switch 2 content.

That immediately explains why Nintendo came up with the "Virtual Game Card". So that you can still share your "Switch 2 game" virtually.

However, when you buy a game completely digital, the "Virtual Game Card" applies. When upgrading from a physical "Switch 2 Edtion", you still need to have the cartridge with the Switch 1 version of the game in your console to be able to play the digital "Switch 2 Edtion".

I wonder if the "Switch 2 Edition" games, where the upgrade was performed from a physical copy also qualify for the "Virtual Game Card" option.

If 'No', then you pay the main price for physical "Switch 2 Edition" games that you cannot lend out, resell, still require a complete digital download (so no space savings on your internal Switch 2 memory thanks to the data being on the cartridge).

And if 'Yes', then the receiving party must also have the Switch 1 Cartridge in their console, in order to be able to play the digital "Switch 2 Edition", via the"Virtual Game Card" option?

Too many unknown variables...

Re: 'Switch 2 Editions' Are Supposedly A Switch Game Card And Download Code For The Upgrade Pack

ThaBEN

Also, If I am a Switch 2 owner with an NSO subscription, some upgrades are free. So that means that the most logical and economically friendly choice would be to not buy the physical "Switch 2 Edition" of a game but consciously choose the Switch 1 version, because otherwise you would pay extra for an upgrade that you already have access to because of your NSO subscription.
Make it make sense! 😅

Re: Trombone Champ Makes Noise On Switch With Gyro Controls Today

ThaBEN

I really want to buy this, but the fact that it has come to Switch makes me think it might come to PS5 as well. PS5 has better screen recording options and this game begs to share your gameplay clips. Also, the haptic feedback and touchpad on the PS5 controllers have a lot of potential.
Anyone got any info if it comes to other consoles as well 😅?

Re: Who Needs Switch Pro? New Dongle Promises To "Instantly Upgrade Switch To 4K"

ThaBEN

Aren't these devices basically copying the same effect as increasing the sharpness and colour saturation levels from your TV's picture settings, but with extra steps and less control of the end result?
I prioritize getting the image to look as much as possible as the original source and intent by the developer and don't like artificial (fake) improvements. Better spend that money towards a good TV calibration disc.
