Re: Review: Sonic Frontiers - A Bold But Ultimately Failed Attempt At Something New

@SonOfDracula Even a 7 isn’t that great of a score. People are just being apologists for a series that continues to make the same mistakes over and over. Just because this got a 7 elsewhere doesn’t mean it’s good. Stop being an apologist for a team that doesn’t know what the heck they been doing for the 20 years. I’m starting to think that the “good games” have likely been a result of a Frankenstein mistake. They didn’t know what they were doing but somehow it worked. The reason I say this is because the “good games” are very few and don’t come very often, sometimes years! Lucky mistakes.

@piecez seriously! People upset over the fact that people like us saw this a mile away.

Sonic games are like an abusive and toxic relationship. You get abused and then you’re promised that things will change. You somehow manage to lie to yourself and believe the lies but it just keeps happening over and over again. A vicious cycle. Your friends warn you and they tell you to leave, but you fight them and tell them that this time it will be different because they promised to change and they really meant it this time. 🙄 Sonic fans in a nutshell.

Every time I bring up that the switch is a severely underpowered system and that we need a more powerful console that will allow for the big AAA multiplats or even Nintendo’s own 1st party titles to flourish people jump on me and tell me that it’s the developer and that they need to better optimize. No that’s not the case most of the time! This is a hardware issue and it needs to be addressed. We need new hardware with better than decent stats so we don’t run into issues like this. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again- having to build games around weak hardware like the switch only stifles creativity and the overall vision of the developer. Just because you don’t want to spend the money or don’t have the money to buy new hardware doesn’t mean we should all suffer along with you and be stuck with mediocrity.

We need new hardware. It’s time!

@Mgalens The chip shortage is definitely causing a next gen crisis. I’m sure that people that don’t like to spend on new consoles every 4-5 years are happy. I on the other hand see this as the dark ages of video game progress since tech has been affected. This would be around the time we’re we would be unboxing the Switch 2 and talking about the PS6 and new Xbox. Tech definitely took a hit with COVID. Sad times…

@Serpenterror It’s the future. Right now it seems ugly and scary but as technology advances we will all be connected to the internet at all times and cloud versions will not be scary. We’re almost there. Internet connections and high speeds are everywhere. It’s just a matter of execution.

Re: Soapbox: For A Jaded Pokémon Fan, Scarlet And Violet Is Exactly What I Need

Will I play it? Yeah. Am I excited? No.

It’s too much of the same. It feels like the IP hasn’t “evolved” very much over the years. It just feels like same ol, same ol. Some gimmicks are awesome. Some are not. I’m all for Mega evolution and Dynamax. Z-moves? Garbage. TERASTAL? Re-skinned z-moves. For the first time in PokeMon history I feel the design are bland and uninspired. I’ve loved every Gen’s sneak peaks. Not this one. I will force myself to play this. So sad that it’s gotten to that point. I feel like I’ve already played this and it isn’t even out yet. Also, the red BikeMon looks terrible and that big ol’ tire in the middle of its butt looks odd. The Blue one feels more organic

What a shame that even after attempting to play thru 1 and 2 several times throughout the years, I could never get into this series. The last time I played I spent over 60 hours on part 2 and I could not finish the game. It became too boring for me to finish. I don’t know what it is about this series that just can’t capture my attention and all the praise it gets. It feels like a chore for some reason. I’m thinking it’s the battle system… or the characters… I dunno I still can’t figure it out. Glad it got a 10 tho.

Re: Video: We're Confused About Sonic Frontiers

@Baler Where have you been the last 14 years? Have you not seen what they’ve done to Sonic?! Everyone’s concerns and doubts are valid. Nothing has changed. It’s like a toxic relationship- they tell you that things will get better and that they’ve changed, but nothing changes and the same thing keeps happening…

@Ainze You pretty much summed up what I was saying all this time. The hardware is stifling creativity and artistic vision since the developer had to dumb down “pretty” graphics aka “over-reaching” according to you. There’s nothing pretty about AoC. If you think thats pretty, I’m selling a cute little poop with a bow on it I’m sure you’d be interested in.

The system is underpowered. Period.
