Re: Bayonetta's OG Voice Actor Responds To Online Backlash In Ongoing Dispute

@arabiansanchez She's definitely not ok. She may most certainly be lying or delusional about everything else but one should Never lie about "been suicidal", and Even if she also lied about that, we still should consider that bit as true, and Twitter, faulty as it is, has a tool/means to at least trying to send help to they who might be considering that exit route.

Re: A New Bayonetta 3 Report Features A Differing Account Of PlatinumGames’ VA Pay Offer

@jowe_gw I didn't knew that phrase/idiom before (English being not my primary language) but have been reading that A LOT (but only after the SchReport, mind you) and while I wanted to agree with it, the "In the middle" or even "in between" didn't quite seem... "right".

And thanks to your Earth analogy it finally downed on me: "Truth is in the BARYCENTER"

Strictly speaking, two bodies orbiting each other actually orbit the barycenter: the Center of Mass of both. If both objects have the same mass (bear with me and let's call mass 'weight') they orbit around a point in the middle ("she said he said"). However, when one body has a greater weight, the barycenter gets near to that body's own CoM. In the Moon-Earth example, the barycenter is within the Earth's circumference.

So, back to the TaylorGate (xP), the SchReport evidence outweights Taylor's claim, placing the barycenter, and the truth, within the circumference of the former.

I love analogies.

@Astral-Grain Well, Journalism in general has changed: People (myself included) expect quick information and can get it from tons of sources in seconds, but this also means these sources have to be churning out content constantly, so Rumors, UE Fan creations, and things like this are fair game, so now it's like "look at this cool/interesting/funny videogame-related thing" about the same thing across multiple sites.

Re: Talking Point: Given The Voice Artist Controversy, Will You Be Boycotting Bayonetta 3?

Tamalesyatole

@Axecon Several voice companies work for different games and Producers (Platinum worked with Formosa Group for Bayonetta 2, but with other for 1; Xenoblade 3 and Elder Ring worked with Liquid Violet, and so) but in the end the Union is supposed to standardize the rough edges equally. In the end, we can't assume wrongdoing form Platinum on Bayonetta 3 while righteousness with Nier Automata, or wrongdoing from Formosa on Bayonetta 2 while righteousness with Resident Evil Village. Even with 3, we can't dismiss righteousness towards the rest of the cast.

I Do think you want to do the correct thing, but you haven't convinced Yourself what the correct thing is, because if you were sure, you won't even consider waiting for more information.

And finally: "Jenna Coleman [...] got paid well otherwise she could have easily skipped out and have been replaced by another voice actor."

I cannot fathom the irony.

Re: Bayonetta's OG Voice Actor Asks Fans To "Boycott" Third Game After PlatinumGames Wage Fallout

Tamalesyatole

My unsorted thoughts:

1) So, Jennifer Hale, an arguably Bigger personality in the VA field, was either offered the same 4000 and accepted, or, as a Bigger personality, was able to negotiate more.

2) It would be nice to have a full transcript of this.

3) Taylor is the only one that we know won't return, so this means everyone else reprising their roles did accept what they were offered. The nerve! How could they! All the joy of the world for them, though.

4)"X franchise is millions-popular, they're being cheap" argument always overstate how actually financially things works: Metal Gear Solid is a way more gigantic franchise and still gave Konami (figuratively) just a handful of pennies that they decide going full Pachinko was a better strategy.

5) I f only there was some kind of profession that could investigate a) How much work a certain VA would do for a role, b) How it compares to, say, Mio's VA in Xenoblade Chronicles 3, both in account of work and $, c) How it compares with other languages VAs... Where's Schreirer when one needs him the most?

Re: Review: Rhythm Heaven Megamix (3DS)

Tamalesyatole

As a standalone game for newbies, it deserves a 9/10, but as the 4th one, 8/10 it's... OK

What I didn't like was the story mode (sorry Tibby; nothing personal) since (IMO) slows unnecessarily the flow of the game (pun intended) and the way the levels are accessed: in all the previous ones, you had a grid with the 10 sets of 4 songs + the remix, and here you go with 4 "statues" first, then the towers + remixes, then statues again, then 'towers' again. And in the museum/hall, it's not even as good layout as any of the previous.

And the menus' interface! Good grief! If you are in, say, the Perfect Kiosk, and you want to change the audio to japanese or the input to stylus, you have to do a lot of steps!

Most of the new songs are really good, but I missed a couple from the GBA and DS.

It just pains me that such a good and complete game has such bad menu design ideas.

And by the way, did anyone noticed the NX that guy is holding?

Best analist I've read in a while.

Stock Market is a harsh mistress; it depends both of what the investors think of the company and of external influences.

Also, Nintendo is (or was until less than a year) a very "simple" company that made games only, while Microsoft has the Office and Windows office/IT businness, and Sony has all the Electronics in the world but washing machines and printers... and still, Sony is doing well on their Image Sensors business only, and Microsoft is very behind iOS and Android...

Re: Video: See How Far The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess has Come Since the Wii & GameCube

Tamalesyatole

People who say "looks the same":
a) Probably played the original(s) in a <27" CRT through composite cable, and not in a >32" HDTV.
b) Overlook the fact that this is a 10-year-old Gamecube game (for comparison, the first iPhone came out one year later, Android one after that, and the top phones had a 1.3MP Camera and sub-QVGA screens), so:
c) Should be doing comparisons with the HD ports of Okami, Ico, MGS3 or Banjo Kazooie, not Uncharted or The Last of Us.

As for the price: retexturing (lots more than WW), 2nd screen perks (off-tv play, inventory, new control schemes like the added gyroscope), lowering the load times while upping the textures, miiverse implementation, re-doing the manual, making it available also through the eShop and testing all that has a cost, too.

Re: Voice Actors Union Authorises Strike Action With Landslide 96.52 Percent Vote

Tamalesyatole

Wasn't there something similar with the movies SFX people some years ago? Or the Simpsons?

How will affect this non-US dubbing (e.g. Spain or UK?)

Why do the voice actors have to do stunts for motion capture? Mr. Earl Jones wasn't inside the Vader suit, was he?

Do you have to be in that union to do voice acting? What prevents studios from hiring newcomers instead of the big names? Of if you have to be in that union, wouldn't that be a monopoly?

Can we as gamers make an union so we don't get games with bugs? What's the difference between "boycott X developer/publisher" and a strike, since both intend to coerce something from someone?

Re: Reminder: There's Only One More Week Left To Vote In The Super Smash Bros. Fighter Ballot

Tamalesyatole

Phoenix Wright, obviously: B Down? Desk Slam. Left/Right Smash? Pointy Finger Move. Regular B? Evidence Throw.Taunts? Hold It!, Take That! and of course, OBJECTION! Final Smash? That thing when Mia appears, or Pshyche-locks, or the Judge Hammer. Alternate Costumes/Colors? Apollo, Edgeworth, Godot, Hobo Phoenix, Student Phoenix (even if the actual characters are not possible because constraints, the colors would be amazing enough!)

Re: Nintendo Renews Eternal Darkness Trademark as Denis Dyack Re-Affirms Continuing Work on Shadow of the Eternals

Tamalesyatole

I really hope they can make it; just imagine every Sanity Effects they could do just with CEC (if the Wii U added compatibility with an update)!:

System Standby: "Enables users to switch multiple devices to standby mode with the press of one button". - This could be used to actually turn off the tv, and "blind" the gamer, who could only hear the monsters in the gamepad...
OSD Display "Uses the OSD of the TV set to display text" - This could be used to display creepy messages...
Routing Control "Controls the switching of signal sources" - Used to switch back to the TV signal. See first point.
Device OSD Name Transfer "Transfers the preferred device names to the TV set" - Can be used to name the Wii U input on your TV something like "your worst nightmare" or "ERROR".
System Audio Control "Allows the volume of an AV receiver, integrated amplifier or preamplifier to be controlled using any remote control from a suitably equipped device(s) in the system" - This can be used to mute the TV or crank up the volume for those Scare jumps things.
