Re: Reaction: Nintendo's Switch Emulator Fallout Is Shocking Only Because It Took This Long

SteveDaSteve

@luckyseven Yeah, secondhand prices are pretty prohibitive. My main reason for wanting emulation is because my hands just don’t fit the 3ds comfortably anymore, and I’d like to rip and play some of my physical copies on my Steamdeck so I can enjoy them without hand cramps. It is also very convenient. I’d personally never resort to piracy, but I don’t fault those who pirate when it is the only way to reasonably obtain a piece of media.

Re: Switch Emulator Yuzu To Pay $2.4 Million To Nintendo & Cease Development

@Anti-Matter "The peoples who keep defending about using emulator to preserve the games as their excuses"

This is known as Begging the Claim, a logical fallacy. Please prove that these people defending emulation are only using it as an excuse before stating it as a fact.

I think that emulation, while it can enable pirates by giving them an easy medium to play pirated software, is useful for the average consumer by giving them more options for how to experience it. I think that the developers of games are entitled to receive fair compensation for their work, but that doesn't mean paying customers should be locked into using their product in one way, especially if the way they use it doesn't cost the developers any sales.

Re: Indie Hit Celeste Celebrates 6th Anniversary With Free N64-Style 3D Platformer

@fenlix There is a $100 publication fee on Steam that you only get back after you make $1000 from your product. That would be a net loss of income for a free game. With Itch, I don’t think you have to pay a fee, but you are allowed to offer your software with the option to either donate or download for free, so you can still make some money from those who wish to support you and to keep the project free for those who want it.

Re: Random: New College Course Is Grading Students On Their Zelda: TOTK Engineering Skills

SteveDaSteve

@JoeyTS I understand their engineering degree isn’t just from this class, but I still kinda question the use of the game as the focus of the course given that TOTK is a open world game with a lot of distractions besides the engineering aspect, and that their engineering job will not require use of this game. It’s probably fine if this is simply used as an interesting environment to teach principles of engineering.

Re: Award-Winning Cosy Mining Adventure 'Core Keeper' Digs Onto Switch Next Year

SteveDaSteve

I’ve played this on PC, and I loved every second of it. It’s more like Terraria than Stardew Valley in my opinion, the similarities end at the farming mechanics really, but I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys exploration, combat, and light automation mechanics (the later being very useful in the late game)

@antisumo I played this game single player for a long time until I got it for one of my friends, I think it’s more fun with more friends but easily enjoyable by yourself.

Re: Best Metroid Games Of All Time

SteveDaSteve

Federation Force is awesome. It might not have all the bells and whistles of the other Metroid games, but it is fun in its own way. Sill waiting on an opportunity to play with my 3 friends so I can play level 2 with them. Blast Ball is also great, like Rocket League but with guns.

Re: Talking Point: Which Scary Video Game Moments Gave You Nightmares As A Kid?

SteveDaSteve

Them from Majora's Mask (The aliens). The first time I encountered them I was playing late at night on Wii Virtual Console. Unfortunately, I hadn't talked to Ramoni the day before, meaning I had no clue what was going on. I didn't defeat them, and I had to watch as they abducted Ramoni into their flying orb. That really freaked me out. And I still don't like that side quest to this day.

Re: Here Are Your Options For The Next New Minecraft Mob

SteveDaSteve

@Ogbert Mobs that lose go back into their “ideas library”, aka they might come back to it if it happens to fit in with an update they are planning. In the case of the very first mob vote, they said they weren’t adding any of the losers in the future. In the case of the biome votes, it was voting for the first biome to be updated rather than the only. Hopefully they revisit some of the mob ideas, there have been plenty of interesting ideas over the years.

Re: Here Are Your Options For The Next New Minecraft Mob

I'll be voting for the Tuff Golem!
There are a couple confirmed features that the article here doesn't explain:
You can customize the color of the Tuff Golem's cloak, any of the 16 wool colors
You can stack golems to create a golem totem, if you will.
You can construct it yourself (A bot self explanatory since it is a golem)

Re: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Minecraft amiibo Launching This September

SteveDaSteve

@Silly_G I think it would be cool if scanning a amiibo in Minecraft would unlock a skin of that character (ie. Scanning Link gives a Link skin). For the Steve and Alex amiibo, perhaps they could unlock some specific character creator item related to smash. I think that would be very fitting with how amiibo are typically utilized in other games.

Edit: Another idea is to give you a in-game emote related to the character character you scanned, like one of their taunts in smash maybe.
