It's been an excitable time for fans of the big N, with the first Nintendo Direct in months confirmed to be heading to our screens soon. It's enough to set minds and pulses racing, so perhaps we need to just sit back and relax.
Frankly, it's hard to envisage a better way to do that than to chill out with this jazz version of the main Pokémon theme. This is hardly a new idea, but this Scott Bradlee arrangement - featuring Sara Niemietz on vocals - is pretty exceptional as it has a nice sense of style and a convincing tone. It's no joke or parody, though Niemietz seems to have fun with it.
You can check it out below and it's even for sale on iTunes, if you fancy owning a copy and supporting the artists.

I really enjoyed this
The musicians are amazing, and I really love this style of music.
But for some reason I just can't stop laughing. It works a little too well, almost.
I think I have a different definition of Jazz than you guys....
This is what would happen if Ellington were raised from the dead by the Pokemon Company and wrote a song to thank them.
Now that's Poke-smooth!
Very fun find, NL!
@hypercoyote not only one..
I can't say i enjoyed this because i had to stop listening in middle of song because this version is too long and singing reminds me of Finnish Flipper & Lopaka theme.
Sweet.
Anyway, I'm just gonna use this opportunity to leave two related videos right here...

JAZZ MUSICIANS UNITE!
True that. Jazz Musicians UNITE!!! BTW, what instrument does everyone play here?I'm a pianist.
Eh, not a big fan of deep-voiced jazz singers like this lady so I bailed out of this one in a hurry. No offense to any of the skilled musicians involved, but it's just not me.
That, and I loathe the Pokemon theme song as a composition. The chord progressions are intentionally designed to be annoyingly ear-wormy and catchy, which spells doom for your song's longevity if not otherwise sonically interesting.
@4sterr Alto Saxophone. I'm mostly into Ellington and Mingus.
@Solid_Stannis No offence taken. Jazz isn't for everyone. As for disliking the Pokemon theme song, UNFORGIVABLE!
@DekersHekers Do not misunderstand me, I'm as big a jazz fan as anyone. I think a better way to put it would be to say "not all jazz is for everyone."
@Solid_Stannis Oh. Whoops.
Wow that was fantastic! I have to say it sounds awesome with this style and each time she says "pokemon" it makes it feel cheesy haha.
Nice, very enjoyable.
@DekersHekers I play Alto also, but Piano is the instrument I prefer. Also, Ellington is my favorite musician of all time!
What a time to be alive. I always knew when my generation and the surrounding ones grew up it'd get weird in a good way.
@4sterr Started off with piano before I found my 'true calling'.
Damn, I freaking love her voice...
I love it.
