Re: Nintendo Seeks a Trademark for Mario Coin Sound

Socar

@XCWarrior Except that's not how Pokemon GO works and that's not how Nintendo makes profit out of Pokemon either. Those willing to spend money instead of playing are very few and not that many are stinking rich to buy every single individual pokemon.

You're saying that for a total of 722 pokemon times 5 at max which leads to like what? 3,610$? That money is enough to pay up half lifetime bills, not worth buying a game for that kind of price.

There is 1% of chance that some one that dumb would pay all that price for just the pokemon alone. Even if each Pokemon isn't 5$ exactly and some are like 1 or 2$, that still doesn't change the fact that its a lot for someone who can't afford games of 150$ which is majority of them.

Nintendo should have every right to claim things that they clearly own. In this manner, they can either turn down projects that can potentially make them losses or they can make money out of them. Damaging original works is a serious crime that people like you consider it a joke. What Nintendo is doing now is obviously going to make them money should people ever use that sound effect.

Honestly, it begs the question why Nintendo didn't do this after finishing Super Mario Bros?

Re: Nintendo Seeks a Trademark for Mario Coin Sound

Socar

@XCWarrior Wrong, the editions are now like super rare and it doesn't look like Nintendo will bother ordering more editions.

Whether this is something Nintendo should or shouldn't do is left to the internet. As a professional organisation, they have every right to earn these copyrights because its their own work. They should get royalties at the very least which is something I doubt many small devs can really afford at this point.

From where I work, we had someone who make the exact coin sound effect for our game. We told him to remove it not because to avoid getting sued, but because we know that its not our original work.

Consumers will never understand how professionalism works. When someone use another's trademark for selfish profits/interests and don't give the courtesy that he/she borrowed from the original's work, you will not be accepted as a professional which is why I'm not supporting many Youtubers because of how they claim they are professionals when the exact opposite happens where they "steal" images and other works from someone and use them to get profits without paying any royalties.

Re: Nintendo Seeks a Trademark for Mario Coin Sound

@XCWarrior Dude, understand clearly what the special edition has for a minute...

It has three separate games, an 3DS pouch and an art book. the latter are expensive to produce and therefore is better off being limited.

I do agree that it would be convenient if they make the three games in one available. But since its a limited edition, it makes total sense why they can't reproduce it. Limited editions aren't cheap to produce especially seeing what you're asking for is itself expensive.

As for the trademark, you'd be crazy to say Nintendo shouldn't be doing this and rather focus on Fates seeing as its a work that they produced and they have every right to claim that because they did it with their own instruments.

Re: Feature: Ten Game Boy Advance Games You Should Play

Socar

@Lugia Woah....that's a lot of Pokemon there.

And its shocking to see that Pokemon didn't make it on this list. oh well, that's what the comments are there for.

I love the GBA as well as the DS. Both these dolls have great games in them!

Re: Impressive Miitomo Download Numbers Credited For Sizeable Jump in Nintendo Share Value

Socar

@KoopaTheGamer What features are we talking about here?

Gyroscope- 3DS, Wii U and to an extent, GB/GBC and GBA.

Touchscreen- 3DS, DS and Wii U.

Wireless features- DS, 3DS, WII and Wii U, GCN and GBA and more.

The only reason why people get mobile because its a phone built specifically for social features which consoles actually have except that its more portable than traditional consoles.

Re: New Capcom Survey Points to Potential Future Plans for the Mega Man IP

Socar

@khaosklub That's really not the case. I've played a lot of 2.5D games and they all are pretty precise and control very well. Its when you cram an engine that isn't meant to be in these types of games that becomes the problem. Sonic Generations didn't have the same physics as the genesis ones....which explains why the physics are not as fluid.

Me personally, unless 3D Graphics are done perfectly, its pretty much bland and there aren't that many games that make the visuals vibrant for 2.5D games.

Re: The Game Boy Advance is Now 15 Years Old

Socar

@blackice85 I know that......sheesh, do you really have to be so picky?

Whatever, the GBA library is just plain awesome! Its nearly on the same level as the DS but a bit better than the 3DS interms of retail games alone.

Re: Miitomo Makes Storming Debut on iOS in Japan

Socar

@FragRed That's what worries me....That's exactly what happened to Amiibo and that thing is now being forced on nearly every game Nintendo makes even though it doesn't do much.

What if that same thing happens here......?!?

Re: Talking Point: Sony's PlayStation VR Launch Adds Pressure to Nintendo's Holiday - and Perhaps NX - Plans

Socar

Firstly, the VR is twice expensive as that of a standard console and knowing Nintendo, there is no way in hell they will do it to just spend a lot of cash to make the thing even work or force consumers to get add-on to get this kind of game and that kind of game. Its SEGA CD all over again wasting unnecessary time just to make future a big thing and in the end, its not.

It also depends on the consumers point of view. If they want VR, the industry will focus on VR just like how foolishly Mobile gaming seems to get at them. If not, then VR will just go away.

Personally, I want them both gone because I love the traditional sense of gaming that Nintendo puts which is to just buy their dedicated gaming systems and play dedicated games on them.

I neither want mobile gaming nor VR to take over because you're spending four times the amount just to get software than what you would normally get in the traditional sense. Plus quality wise, the games aren't fun and will nowhere be anywhere fun.

If Fire Emblem is to go VR, no one will give a damn about the actual game but rather just look at Camilla or Tharja's sexy body and virtually interact with it.

Re: Nintendo Seems To Be Deleting Super Mario Maker Levels Without Explanation Or Warning

Socar

People don't understand that there's a limit to how much the servers can hold. While I do understand that there has to be a reason why they are gone, its the level creators themselves who are to be blamed for making either controversy content within the levels and for making the levels extremely difficult.

But I don't understand it, aren't the levels saved in the hard drive or something rather than a direct server? If so, then I don't see the problem why this really needs to be fixed.

Re: Editorial: Accessibility Through Optional 'Invincibility' Buffs Can Only Be a Positive for Nintendo

Socar

@Xenocity I've not faced too many times where the enemy misses critical hits only very rarely assuming we're talking about normal mode.

Have you raised your units right by any chance? You do get a few that are pretty overpowered around Chapter 14.

But its not the worst FE game that I've played yet and I still like it. Infact this game is hell of a lot better than what Final Fantasy Tactics will ever be.

One reason why many would choose casual isn't because of the permadeath option. Its probably because of the save battle feature that should have been there on classic which it technically isn't there.

Re: Editorial: Accessibility Through Optional 'Invincibility' Buffs Can Only Be a Positive for Nintendo

Socar

Honestly, people brag so much of Fire Emblem's difficulty.

I'm right now in Conquest and I've played the game in casual mode for two reasons.

1. I simply am not too smart like any FE fan I know and I need those save slots simply because the maps are too big despite them being simple. I don't mind the complexity, just its length.

2. Because of how much I got burned when beating the hell out of Final Fantasy Tactics that I never want to go through with horrible AI and unbalanced enemies.

The way I am playing Conquest is like how I played Genealogy of Holy War. If I find the situation worth saving over, I save and resume battle for trial and error. If I find the situation where no matter what I do, I end up losing one unit, I start the chapter all over again.

I can honestly say that Conquest isn't extremely difficult like how everyone claims so far from what I have played. The only time I felt frustrated is in Chapter 19 but other than that, its well balanced and its not really a hell game like Final Fantasy Tactics.

Re: Impressive Fire Emblem Fates Sales Ensure It Makes an Impact on US Charts

Socar

@IceClimbers Wow..... I feel as though Nintendo of America were just lucky that Street Fighter V was just plain bad. If the opposite were to happen, Fates wouldn't have even come to half of what V could have easily had.

I can't recollect what NoA did to market this game everywhere. I'm still shocked that this game hasn't reached a million yet.

Also, why the hell they can't combine the three games instead of looking at the one that sold the most? Yeah sure the games are separate and different but since the Special Edition counts as one entire set, why?

Enjoying Conquest so far btw!

Re: Editorial: Nintendo's Virtual Console Revolution Must Wait as We Pay Once More for SNES Games

Socar

@cleveland124 The problem with this logic is that Nintendo for a long time is known for making hardware as cheap as possible so asking them to do cross buy is expensive for them to do.

Nintendo is more about focusing on the blue ocean and not interested on doing what its competitors are doing. Xbox one doesn't have any cross buys and yet it sold more than the Wii U and is regarded just as well as PS4.

People don't realize that the CPU for the Wii U and the new 3DS are completely different interms of raw power alone.

Re: Editorial: Nintendo's Virtual Console Revolution Must Wait as We Pay Once More for SNES Games

Socar

I never understood the whole point of cross buy. Just because Sony could make it happen doesn't mean that the others can make it happen because cross buy is about getting the exact same game from multiple plats. I never in my life remembered myself buying multiple versions of the same game all because I got it on one platform and I'm fine with it.

This article is honestly more of a rant despite it being just an opinion. Have you ever asked yourself that to those who only have the 3DS and not Wii U, this is ideal? Sure, you can get them for the Wii as well but as far as showing support for various users, this sounds ideal.

The Wii U has GBA games on it and while I'm upset that its not on the 3DS, but at the same time, it doesn't matter. Why? Because I got lots of games for the 3DS to simply even bother about emulation at this point.

I'm sure that even if Nintendo did a cross buy, it won't satisfy people at all. Not even one bit.
