Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

Socar

@G_M It also comes at a cost. Having multiplayer can be an expensive thing and if the game is solely single player, why focus the same amount of cash on multiple modes when less is the most sensible?

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

Socar

@Xenocity Can you take reviewers seriously even? I mean many can't even play games right and yet they review it because they are too dumb to play even Tactical RPG games.

The point is you guys should be happy that we finally got Star Fox after so long and not just one game, but two. Who knows what'll happen if the F-Zero game shows up and we get the same feedback as this.

If this game came earlier than now, it wouldn't get a lot of backlash as it would be on par with Uprising.

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

Socar

@Xenocity That makes sense......and for a price like that, that makes it even more of a reason not to rant at a game that isn't 60$. No wonder because you get two games for 60$!

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

Socar

@Xenocity doesn't that sound a lot like racism than actually complaining that there's lack of content?

Even so, how does that still make Nintendo games all the more expensive? How does making colorful games make it more expensive than a realistic game? How is Splatoon any expensive than Xenoblade?

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

Socar

@Xenocity Ok, I might agree to a degree about the first point but what the hell is the second point the main reason why their sales are lacking?

Retail games on consoles as of now cost 60$ in general and 40$ on Handhelds. Back then on the DS and Wii, the price of the software was also expensive but now are cheap if bought used.

Heck many Nintendo games are even cheaper now and some are free to play even. So how does that become the reason why the sales are poor?

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

Socar

@Vandy So with that out of the way, let's see how time tells of how much the game sold in the long run.....I'm a bit worried that if this doesn't do well, we'll end up never getting another Star Fox.

Man, if you think that guy was an oddball, look at the comments from IGN and Gamespot.....the're very nasty.

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

@Yorumi

2. They said its a retelling not a rehash. That's like saying Tomb Raider reboot isn't a game of its own but just a reskin which isn't true at all.

3. This game has more fun than what Street Fighter V will ever have. What's your point? If you don't want to buy the game, how about just saying "I'll skip it...didn't reach my expectations" instead of trolling about it?

4. Games like Steeldiver subwars would actually be fine just being multiplayer instead adding single player. Heck, that's what Tri Force heroes was suppose to be.

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

Socar

@Xenocity I love the game. But the excuse that 89% is something for movies is like horrible. I mean, if a Sonic game released today had the same rating, I'd rather get it than wait for a score of 90% instead.

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

Socar

@Ralizah

1. Oh and I assume that Uprising is the better game than Zero despite that game having two modes of gameplay and not really following the roots of Kid Icarus?

2. Umm.....who said this is a reskin of 64? The review only mentions that its INSPIRED from the original and adds more to it.
Just because having the same plot and characters doesn't mean that it doesn't do anything new or for that matter, offer something different.

3.Who said anything about this game being AAA? Not every game requires pretty colors to enhance the game experience. I for one love playing Pitfall now and then.

4.Have you ever asked yourself, why the hell does every game require multiplayer modes and whatnot? Some games are just not meant to have multiplayer. Example? Fire Emblem. Infact, removing multiplayer simply will mean getting more of single player content. I will agree with you that IF Zero had no multiplayer mode and offered less content, then yeah, its justifiable. But the game looks like its best experienced for Single Player.

Look, I get you might not want the game but the reasons that you don't want to get it aren't very reasonable. Fire Emblem Fates censors content, does that make it less of a reason to get it?

Re: Editorial: From Metroid: Other M to Star Fox Zero, the Awkward Experimentation With Beloved Franchises

Socar

@Xenocity SEGA barely makes games that sell more than 1 million.

Sonic for example is a series that can barely reach a million and yet SEGA milks the series.

They then have Shin Megami that can't sell over a million and yet the games are still being milked.

The only ones that want more than 1 million are the ones making games that are very expensive to make and for that, yes. 1 million isn't a satisfactory amount.

But you can't expect something like Fire Emblem to sell over 10 million copies because of how much of audience it currently has now despite its attempts to get more audience.

Same goes for Metroid and Star Fox as the audience for those games aren't really that big compared to Zelda and Mario....or even pokemon.

Re: Editorial: From Metroid: Other M to Star Fox Zero, the Awkward Experimentation With Beloved Franchises

Socar

You guys realize that Star Fox remains to be one of the few shoot em up games to actually sell well right?

I'm not a big fan of this article to be honest. Comparing Metroid and Starfox is like comparing F-Zero and Fire Emblem.

Other M failed because of the way it focused too much on the story than on the gameplay side and that it was developed by Team Ninja. You can't compare their experience to that of Platinum because they just started compared to Ninja.

Look, the Wii U isn't the best seller out there and if Star Fox Zero isn't going to sell despite its attempts of marketing, that's not the game or the system's fault. Its just that the franchise itself was meant to exist when new technology exists and the Wii U is the perfect idea to put Star Fox in it. If the game fails to sell, then its most likely at the fault of the Wii U's install base and not the game.

Metroid on the other hand is a series that existed on systems that performed very well and many of them sell well. The only ones that didn't do well was the prime series but that didn't matter because the trilogy itself did well for them. As much as I want a 2d Metroid game for the 3DS, its just too late to happen.

All Nintendo can do right now is satisfy the Wii U owners and Zero is one way of doing that.

Re: Feature: The Biggest 3DS Games of 2016 - Spring Edition

Socar

Kirby, Rhythm heaven and Pokemon for me. Yep, going soly on Nintendo here like always. Third parties never seem to impress me except on rare occasions.

I was about to think of getting one of the dragon quest games as well as Shin Megami but then I changed my mind.

Re: Feature: How One Man Saved Kyoto - And Video Games - From The Atomic Bomb

Socar

@OptometristLime I was just trying to make a point that history can't be changed or modified so much.

Yeah, people died and I will respect that argument. But saying that had this bomb really took into effect, Nintendo wouldn't have existed is really being idiotic here.

If Fusajiro Yamauchi died there along with the then Nintendo staff, Nintendo could still happen because the Yamauchi family is huge and still is even now.

Re: Feature: How One Man Saved Kyoto - And Video Games - From The Atomic Bomb

Socar

@Damo I understand the reason why this article is made. But I think this would be ridiculous to assume that Nintendo wouldn't exist had the bomb happened. I mean, Japan even back then, had power so it would have been possible that they could have just moved to another situation before the bomb struck there.

You can't change history so its hard to assume things.....that's like saying had Atari not existed, Nintendo couldn't have made it today.

Re: Talking Point: The Great Star Fox Zero Controls Debate Highlights Important Lessons

Socar

The problem the Wii U had was that it was simply making updated versions of the 3DS games. 3D Land....3D World, New Super Mario Bros 2...New Super Mario Bros U, Super Smash Bros 3DS.....Wii U as well. Had Splatoon come as a launch title the same way that Uprising and 3D Land were launch titles for the 3DS, then the Wii U would have done just as well as the 3DS.

Now I wouldn't mind the gimmicks if I got the Wii U. But Nintendo should have made extensive use of the Gamepad and should have made the Gamepad sold separately as well. Sure, its still cheaper but it could be even more cheaper if they made another model that does so and it doesn't even have to have backwards compatibility.

I love the DS and 3DS and I am fine with whatever gimmicks Nintendo has to put for the next games and so on as long as its fun to play with.

Re: Video: The Star Fox Zero Puppets Return in a New TV Commercial

Socar

@JaxonH I love your figure of speech here....Infact, that's exactly the whole point of Pokemon and Mario....IPs that are meant to be played for anyone.

But what about in the case of Fire Emblem though? I mean, unless a kid happens to like chess, how can they be targeted to play TRPGs like FE?

Re: Atlus is Now 30 Years Old

Socar

The only game that I played from Atlus is Double Dragon GBA which is awesome...that's that.

I never gotten Shin Megami Tensei......but I don't know if I'll like it.
