I'd love them. Think its a great way to add a bit of extra longevity to a game. For those that don't like them, just allow disabling of the notification. Easy.
Also don't buy that every other game on Xbox has them only triggering at end of level events...if anything outside of Telltale's series of games I've never really experienced this. Also the amount of extra dev effort time should be very minimal given APIs will do most of the heavy lifting and they're implementing these already on Xbox, PS and likely any PC port anyway.
An entry level Hermon Miller will be better than what most people have ever used as an office chair. And if it’s in good condition it won’t matter that it’s 16 years old. One of the selling points of those chairs is they’ll last years upon years if looked after.
A lot of workers get very attached to their chair and see “on paper” upgrades as a downgrade as it’s not what they’re used to. I suspect after that long he was quite happy with what he had.
That’s very dramatic. There’s countless things that are far worse than offering a DLC code at retail and if you want to go down that path then it’s actually less wasteful to the environment etc than including the cart. It’s marginally worse than a physical gift card and it provides an opportunity to those that don’t have credit cards to buy via an eshop access to a title.
Again, I prefer the cart but using murder as an arguments clearly hyperbole.
@Kinpatsu I’m not a big fan of the “code in a box”, but for a publisher I think it makes a lot of sense at it ticks a number of boxes.
Firstly it appeals to people that like displaying something and to retain something tangible. That’s not everyone but there’s a market for it clearly.
Secondly and I think most importantly, it boosts presence of the game by having it marketed in physical stores by the store itself. More eyes that see the game the easier it is to attract sales. Combined with the first point it’s also a way to market to people that don’t visit the eStore or possibly don’t even play games themselves, such as moms and dads, who are buying the game for someone else. Not only can it be a sale based on little background but the fact there’s at least a case means a gift has a tangible component to it, something that can be wrapped up and given as gifts so often are.
Thirdly while it’s a compromise and doesn’t feed into second hand trade, I assume physical stores would rather be getting games than not getting major releases at all. Keeping them on side is important for selling other things be it other games or hardware.
It’s been going on for a while so I can assume the economics of it does work. Again, not for me but I can see why a developer may do it.
@nofriendo 30 hours is pretty good and in some ways I prefer AA's to internal batteries since you can buy rechargables (Ladda at Ikea are very good for the price btw) and swap them as soon as the old set runs out without needing to play connected to the console or remember to charge between sessions.
Also in 10+ years times you'll still be able to get AA's cheap where new controllers with batteries near 100% may be harder to come by, resulting in a need to do replacement for parts not necessarily intended to be user replaceable. Unfortunately as with any battery, the built in ones will die eventually. '
TBH I love MSs approach of allowing either AA's or removable rechargeable packs for wireless play, or for data over USB should you connect to the console.
My collections already ruined by having NTSC imports sitting alongside my local PAL region games. The fact the NTSC regions align text at the top of the case where PAL regions align it to the Center annoys me more than a black spine does.
I use my console handheld 95% of the time so I can see this being beneficial. It could also be a boon for familys where multiple people want a console but there isn't a TV in every other room. Have one standard/Pro model and then a bunch of the cheaper units that people can play away from the TV or take on trips with them.
That said, I find no TV connectivity at all an odd move as I can't imagine it saves a lot of money. The system still needs a port to charge etc. It would make more sense to me for them to ship the system without the dock and have permanently affixed 'joycon' to save money, and to play on a TV customers would need to go out and buy their own Pro Controller or standalone JoyCon as well as a dock.
Given they'd likely retain USB-C for charging and accessories I just can't imagine they save much if anything by not allowing video output. If anything retaining the feature and selling accessories at high margins will create more profit potential.
Personally I like the F4Fs work and have a few of the statues, but I’m losing interest in their new releases as they’re clearly trying to outdo themselves with each new product in terms of size, features and then in turn cost.
The older ones were much smaller and a much much better size if you wanted to slot it into your home somewhere without having to dedicate a space. Now days they keep going bigger and bigger. To add to insult the shipping internationally then goes into the $100+ to I believe multiple hundreds to some regions because the things so damn big and heavy.
Now days I’ve lost interest in their resin models and have more interest in the PVC. Sure, they aren’t as nice but at least the size and cost is kept in check. For characters like Mario PVC would be 100% fine.
They’ll defend it with saying they have payment plans etc but in the end of the day you’re still paying that obscene amount.
@Galenmereth Look I would love to see it on the Switch too, but you still haven’t been “left in the dust”. You have a perfectly capable smart phone where you could play this on. Yes, it’ll consume the phones battery but it won’t ‘ruin’ that battery. For all anyone here knows the games been optimised for mobile devices, or perhaps it’ll appear on Switch at a later date.
Personally I’d be happy for the next console title to also be available on Xbox, PS or PC. If it lets more people enjoy the game that’s fantastic and it won’t stop me enjoying it on the Switch if I choose. Certainly I don’t see a lot of advantage to myself as an individual for the games to be Switch exclusives only. Besides it goes both ways and hopefully we’ll see more and more content from Square Enix that traditionally hit other consoles arrive in the Switch.
@Galenmereth No ones being left in the dust. The vast majority of Switch owners will have access to a smart phone. Hell its Nintendo’s own preferred way to deliver online functions like chat etc anyway. It’s not like this is DLC that was promised, influenced your purchase of the original, and then they changed platform or did anything like that.
I think it’s very unlikely. The Microsoft comparison fails I feel because Microsoft by Removing the drive save a lot of
A) space
B) cost
The Xbox by design already copies all discs to the console so there’s adequate internal storage. As a result removing the drive carries a direct cost saving.
On the other hand the Switch saves marginal space by removing its very small physical media slot in the scheme of things, and it’ll be debatable as to whether any costs will be saved as they surely can’t offer a digital only console with only 32GB of storage. I imagine 256GB would need to be the starting point at which case you’ve likely lost any cost savings from removing the media slot. The UHD drive in an Xbox is likely a far more substantial cost both for hardware and licensing of the relevant codecs to support movie playback.
If it’s for financial reasons it’ll be because they get a larger sales cut from their online store. This carries extreme risks though given Sony tried this and in some markets major gaming outlets refused to stock the PSP Go and the console all but died in those markets over night, even while other PSP models limped on. Nintendo would be absolutely foolish to at least not sit back and see what the response is to Microsoft’s move and how they will manage the issue of retail presence, in particular the selling of hardware where retailers may not have an ongoing revenue stream. This is at the same time as those stores stock the PS4 which isn’t rumoured to be dropping physical media and is already a more popular product. Stores may well tell MS to take a hike and refuse to stock the console as they did with the PSP Go.
The advantage MS has is it does have its own retail and online sales channel, but it’s not particularly big and any system relying solely on that will likely not get much market penetration.
Honestly can’t see Nintendo doing this any time soon. There’s other ways to possibly reduce cost and other enhancements to make to the console rather than this one which likely won’t save them much money at all (and could even add to the cost) while offering consumers very little benefit.
The switch is going well but it’s not dominating the market to the point that Nintendo can dismiss its retail channel and piss off its partners. Any company going all digital better be sure as hell that it has a very solid distribution channel of its own or they provide some sort of product that ensures retailers can still make repeat sales be it selling cases with codes, USB media drives or whatever.
@Heavyarms55 one week before release? It’s a marketing move not a proper beta if there isn’t sufficient time for feedback to get back into the GM build. Hell, Amazon shipped my copy 5 days early for some reason so while that “beta” was running I was on a final build at the same time. And yes, that final build while fun does have noticeable frame rate drops etc still.
Absolutely slapping the word “beta” shouldn’t give companies a free pass, especially when that beta is literally days before release and the games already on trucks moving to stores.
@subpopz does the wireless 8bitdo GameCube adapter solve the issue for tabletop? I had a quick look and after a firmware patch for the device it passes through analog trigger inputs to the switch (as opposed to converting it to digital on the way).
I am however disappointed by the fact the sites awarded a high score of an 8 and downplayed criticism days after running the article saying the graphics were rubbish, controls had delays etc. Surely you guys were part way through the review process at that point and could have put some remarks on that news article days ago to flag the fact that the reported issues weren't ones you were experiencing? It makes that article feel rather click bate-y and makes me wonder whether I go elsewhere for articles on such matters moving forward. That is unless the 'beta' was worse than the final build, but again unless reported otherwise I imagine thats relatively unlikely given the 'beta' was clearly just a preview given it arrived just a week ago.
Honestly it makes decisions about day one purchasing difficult when it needn't be. I probably would have cancelled my order based on that article (as others did) had Amazon not broken street date and shipped my copy to me late last week.
@Darkasi “This also begs the question of what Nintendo will be lending to Microsoft for games/characters.”
Probably none or if they do it’ll just be a slight cameo. While this is all pretty exciting news, it’s also not all that surprising given what Phil Spencer has been saying for about two years and MSs own moves. They’ve been saying for some time that as long as you are playing their games they don’t care a lot if it’s on an Xbox, PC or even another platform (look at Minecraft ongoing support). It’s clear MS is getting behind both subscription based gaming and streaming gaming, they’re very open about both concepts, so the logical conclusion is this is one step down a path which could see MS have a streaming game platform that can deliver games via their Game Pass service to customers on Xbox, PC but also third party consoles. Hell if streaming has a low need for local resources TVs etc could have the service built in. With Samsung releasing a TV with an Apple iTunes service crazier things are already happening. If Sony and Nintendo allow such an app on their systems it’s a brilliant way for Ms to make money from customers who don’t own their systems.
To that end don’t expect Nintendo to give up a whole lot. This isn’t an act of generosity on MSs part but an ongoing push on a path they’ve been on for some time. Nintendo for their part will benefit from an increased catalogue of non Nintendo releases and hardware sales which will in turn help them push their own software.
About to give Trials Rising a go. Just waiting for the expansion pass to download. Amazon Australia seems to have shipped my copy a few days early...hit my PO Box on Thursday and it’s due locally on the coming Tuesday. Been too busy to give it a go until now and since they’ve slipped up on the dates I can’t yet redeem the Nintendo Points. Heh.
Otherwise I’ll be working through Workd 7 of New Super Mario U Deluxe.
@kraventhehunter1 Goldeneye’s rights issues stretch well beyond Nintendo and MS. It also spans into the rights to distribute Bond gaming titles having changed hands not to mention potentially messy issues with film studios. The two companies getting along and partnering up only goes a small way to getting a Goldeneye re-release, especially if it’s a remaster people probably want (and if not you can just emulate it anyway).
@Dman10 Microsoft’s track record with its first party game studios is pretty abysmal. Bungie, Lionhead etc etc not to mention issues/tensions working with Epic on Gears of War etc. Honestly I wouldn’t want to see a Nintendo + Microsoft merger any time soon until we’ve had time to see how Mss efforts to boost its first party portfolio has played out.
As an Xbox and Switch owner I also find both systems hit very different segments of the market and I’m not sure they can be effectively merged.
For now a partnership where select games or services cross platforms honestly seems to me to be the best approach. One can’t ignore the fact that MS has had absolutely zero appeal in Nintendo’s home market and there’s likely be some catastrophic implications to the company culture as a result should they merge.
@BulkSlash Yeah I agree regarding the blue shell mechanics not being fantastic. Not a big fan of items that seem to be there more for griefing than offering any real benefit to the person that used it. Sure it may mix up the results but there’s a good chance it won’t progress the user up the ladder.
If I’m ever down enough to get the blue shell I’d generally be hoping for a star, lightening bolt, bullet bill, golden mushroom or even red shells over the blue since they’ll better assist me climb the ladder.
@sanderev “A port of 3D World is unlikely, because that would compete with Odyssey. Same reason why we won't see The Wind Waker HD of Twilight Princess HD remakes on the Switch.”
Not sure I agree with the logic. People can and do buy multiple 3D Mario games and even if it competes, Nintendo wins if people buy their software. If they buy one title that’s good, two or more 3D platformers is better. This consoles intended to sit in the market for probably 7+ years and there’s room for multiple Mario titles.
The Wii U saw Windwaker, Twilight Princess and Breath of the Wild over its very short life, so why can’t the same three titles appear on the far more popular Switch where there’s much more room for sales of all three titles.
I’d also argue Mario 3D World is very different to odyssey just as BOTW is drastically different to any other Zelda title. They’re decent candidates as opposed to say Super Smash from the Wii U which likely doesn’t add anything that isn’t in Ultimate.
1) it could just be better compression in general
2) the art styles are different. The “woolley” graphics style probably lead to harder to compress art since you don’t want to smooth out all the finer wool detailing, versus the more flat art book style of this title
3) they’re completly seperate games so asset reuse etc will vary drastically
Great to hear Mike is back. Arguably the audio was as instrumental to Dooms success as anything else in the game given how fantastically they integrated it into the game and how effectively it was able to set the mood and tempo. Such was the impact of the audio that at times it felt like the game was almost a rhythm music title where the visuals and player input was driven by the audio rather than the other way around.
Stupid offer. If the games were $15 or $20 maybe as at least that makes them cheaper than they initially were on sale for. At $30 most of the titles are the same price as they were in the initial release except this time you can’t pick which one you’re getting. You’d have to be a big Limited Run fan to be interested in this, at which point you likely have the games anyway or enough that a random dip has a bad odds you’ll get one you already own.
So assuming a single move can be copyrighted, which I think is dubious, how likely is it that a highly coreographed routine for a Katy Perry song saw the kid actually create the move AND retain creative control of the work for something that was being produced for TV by one of musics most famous stars.
Even if the move can be copyrighted, I doubt the kid has any claim to owning the copyright.
Really doubt the Mercedes promo which was one or two dlc cars had a lot to do with this. Seems more likely to me it’s something along the lines of about not wanting to hand over the IP to be used in Tesla’s infotainment units, not wanting the PR of a car crash while the game was playing, possibly timing around Musks own antics of late, Nintendo preferring people just bought a Switch, not being worth their development resources etc etc.
This is pretty dumb. So no cloud saves and the transfers a one time only thing. Hope your console never gets damaged or you want to swap it. Why couldn't they have required an internet connection at the time of redemption (only) and account locked it at the very least? Cheaters are going to find a way around all these restrictions and it'll be the legitimate players that ultimately suffer. It's not like the other promotional redemption methods don't all require an internet connection anyway.
Amazon Japan had the entire roster available for pre order not too long ago. Ordered a few of those rare ones like Cloud Player 2 and Corrin player 2 and they’re due in Jan/Feb. Megaman, Sonic, the lot we’re there.
@Octane I think the reuse of another lines design is disappointing, given it doesn’t fit with the theme of Amiibo where the figures actually resemble thebin game counterpart.
Do a Google and look at the other Diablo figures in the series as a possible taste of things to come. I hope I’m wrong as (in my opinion) Diablo itself has a terrible version.
@Dazzle Depends on whether you feel you'll get value out of the digital content (depends on the game and Amiibo and the digital content value add can vary dramatically) or whether you like them as something to collect.
Bit hard to tell you one way or another, it depends on whether you think they're worth it to yourself or not. I believe they are going to re-release the entire Smash line in Japan at least around Dec - Feb so if you plan to get in then it might be a good time given many of the older ones are hard to get or go for an arm and leg on eBay.
Please please please don’t do something stupid like make them exclusive to Blizzcon attendees. Even exclusive to the Blizzard store would be a drag, but I could live with that as long as I can do an international order without paying an eBay scalpers rate.
@LeftyGreenMario “we have an argument against "why not canonize the fanon"”
Makes sense, but it’s not you doing it but Nintendo/Dark Horse here given how I’d interpret the events.
Serious question. Had they picked any other name for this licensed book would you have accepted those and updated the wiki accordingly or would additional scrutiny, processes or sources be required? Surely the response in that scenario is the same to take here unless Nintendo turns around and says it’s an error, one way or another, once the emotion of having your own site involved is removed. I think any adoption still ultimately falls on it being made canon by Nintendo/DH, not yourselves and the wikis hands are clean.
@LeftyGreenMario Citing the book seems like a very easy decision given it’s a Nintendo licensed product and the only official reference that has a name for that character. Whether the name appeared on your wiki prior to that seems irrelevant at this point, the names now in a licensed text.
@Glowsquid “The wiki has a content redistribution license that allows commercial use, but only if the original author is credited”
I very much doubt the use of a name only would be seen as a breach of the license as far as any legal arguments go. Again they’d almost certainly need to be lifting more content, presumably enough that it’d otherwise be considered plagorism.
I mean it’s a two way street here, the entire site exists off the back of Nintendo’s IP and names. I’m glad the Wiki is there too, wouldn’t have it any other way, but it’s going to be hard to argue anything relating to license to print a name in this case.
Honestly feel the article and others are making a mountain out of a mole hill and this is something that should be laughed at rather than getting bothered about. If more was lifted then sure, but a few names that amounted to fan fiction...not so much.
“Plagiarism” seems pretty dramatic given it looks like only the names of characters were lifted, certainly by mistake. Poorly researched maybe but that’s about it. If using a name is plagiarism then every reference to “Mario”, “Bowser”, “Bowsettee” is equally plagiarism (of Nintendos works rather than a fan wiki - excluding bowsette of course) which is an absurd line to draw. Plagiarism would likely mean lifting entire paragraphs or at the least sentences.
For all we know it’s Nintendo’s error, not Dark Horse. It’s quite possible that an employee that didn’t know everything there is to know about Mario did a Google search as that was considered easier than going through some internal archive. Hell, I’m in a government organisation and have gone to Google at times for information rather than the internal portals since it’s often an easier way to grab something that’s presumed to be public domain.
If the Zelda timelines any indication it’s that a bunch of the series lore is probably just thrown together when they go to print a book like this as fan service and it’s not all sitting there documented and ready for staff to access.
Unfortunate the mistake happened, but I’m sure that’s all it is. The worst bit is surely that if they had an alternative name then this book would have been a good opportunity to publish that, but as noted this probably will mean those are the canon names hence forward and in a few years this will be a neat piece of trivia of how a fan Wiki named a character. Sure it’ll make the day of whoever made the edit on the wiki that initially gave that name.
There’s a flip argument to be made to that a wiki, a source of information, should make it obvious if they’re making stuff up since it’s likely visitors will go there and trust the information. Places like Wikipedia put a lot of stock in trying to keep information factual.
Going against what others felt I found HGH to be average at best. Too few levels and too much replaying them over and over. I know it was going for a bit of that “metroidvania” vibe without actually being one, but for me the game just felt artificially padded and there’s better examples of the genre out there. The animal transformations which was a major mechanic were handled in a daft way I felt where some became redundant as you found a different transformation that did a similar thing but better, and one or two abilities served almost no purpose like the bats sonar ability.
To add to the padded feeling a lot of the DLC was play throughs of the same levels again with a different character.
To its merit the art is wonderful.
Pirates Curse might be more my thing so despite my reluctance to recommend HGH, perhaps I’ll give that one a go.
@Heavyarms55 "Oh, one of the most famous people on the planet. Among sports fans I guess? Never heard of him."
No the original statement is correct. He's one of the better known people in the world regardless of interest in the field of athletics or sports in general. Somehow you may have missed hearing about him but that doesn't mean he hasn't been famous for a very long time.
@JasmineDragon Nevermind the fact that theres another article on the front page right now discussing the planned free DLC and the fact the Devs asking people in a public forum what they would like to see following that. The developer seems to care an awful lot to be honest about this title.
@Silly_G There was plenty of bugs and issues prior to the 360 generation. Gamers were just more tolerant of it or those games have simply been forgotten about with time. Games were also far more simplistic back then and with decreased complexity comes an inherit gain when it comes to debugging code.
Not sure games were frequently if ever recalled. If garbage was shipped and you purchased it, you were stuck with it until the end of time.
Not saying the game was a buggy mess or anything (it’s a classic), but load up Star Fox from the SNES and tell me that game runs with a fantastic FPS. It doesn’t and yet it’s still a revered title. Time has changed expectations. Hell 10 years ago no one was expecting 60fps from consoles and now people are scoffing that this title supports a solid and locked 30fps. That used to be the gold standard for console games. Now a title that dips from 60 FPS to 40FPS is being criticised as an example of titles being unpolished, ironically against a generation where 60fps was almost unheard of.
Also worth noting the consoles that were internet enabled were only following a logical progression of where PC gaming was 10 years prior in relation to shipping online fixes or content.
Anyway point is, none of this is new. Watch some speed runs of Mario, Zelda or anything else to see what sort of bugs existed, and those videos will only show the ones that are exploitable to help the speedrun. There'll be heaps more.
Don’t think it looks great myself and the teal colour they are using in their promo material feels dated given it was a 3DS launch colour. Doesn’t fit the Switch well. Don’t think they grey is all too hot either and I’m surprised they haven’t gone with a black one.
It costs more but I much prefer my Waterfield Citislicker, and if there’s a case that’s going to have a “going to work” vibe I think that does a better job. Also supports lanyards, shoulder straps and the like if you want that flexibility. Costs more, but you can order today and not risk a kick starter. Otherwise there’s plenty of much cheaper alternatives.
“The best part is, it doesn't really offer anything less.”
I’m a Nintendo fan and this a Nintendo fan site, but c’mon you can be more objective than that. Clearly there is a huge value divide for a great many people between a bunch of 35 year old NES titles compared to the free games being offered on PS+ and Xbox Live, many of which will be around 12 - 24 month old AAA titles that were actually developed and designed for the system you are getting them from, not some decades old emulation of titles we’ve seen time and time again.
The handling of multiple systems by MS and Sony is far smoother too and things like online chat and how those are handled are exceptionally relevant too and shouldn’t be dismissed.
You’re paying less but you’re clearly getting much less for the dollar. I’m happy but let’s not pretend that the experiences are the same.
Also as an FYI, cloud saving on Xbox isn’t tied to Gold, it’s free for all users.
NES has some ok games but personally I'd prefer SNES or N64, if not Gamecube. Even if it was a smaller selection, the games themselves would be more substantial.
I won't be happy until the Switch has Mario World, the Donkey Kong Country trilogy and A Link to the Past dammit! I'm sure the NES and SNES Classics were developed as a lead in to this though, in particular the emulation, so I'm sure we'll at least see SNES titles once they've burned through easy wins with the NES.
@TreonsRealm I don’t see why they need to release at the same time. There will be people wanting a Switch today in order to play Smash tomorrow. While they may not be able to play Smash immediately, they can explore the back catalogue which is also excellent. Unless Nintendo are stupid with stock, people can just buy the console later on if they only intend to play Smash.
And they can’t just bring the date forward if it’s not ready and production isn’t ready for it.
For what it’s worth Amazon Japan relisted every one including player 2’s a while back for preorder with deliver in Dec and Feb. Believe they ship internationally, otherwise use a mail forwarder. Being Amazon you can cancel prior to the delivery should they appear again in local markets.
I don’t like it other than the back of the console. The art on the dock looks pretty bland to me and I’d have preferred they used the same design as on the back of the system.
For the joycon the bright of the yellow and muted brown don’t go together well and again it just looks dull and uninspired. I think two new neon colours would have worked better and I’m sure they could find two random Pokémon to represent them. Don’t think they had to stick to Pikachu and Evee.
Even the poses of the Pokémon on the dock are ordinary.

@Kinpatsu I’m not a big fan of the “code in a box”, but for a publisher I think it makes a lot of sense at it ticks a number of boxes.

Re: Pre-Orders Are Now Live For This Gorgeous Switch Zelda Controller
@nofriendo 30 hours is pretty good and in some ways I prefer AA's to internal batteries since you can buy rechargables (Ladda at Ikea are very good for the price btw) and swap them as soon as the old set runs out without needing to play connected to the console or remember to charge between sessions.

Re: Rumour: This Year's 'Budget' Switch Could Take The 2DS Route And Ditch A Killer Feature
I use my console handheld 95% of the time so I can see this being beneficial. It could also be a boon for familys where multiple people want a console but there isn't a TV in every other room. Have one standard/Pro model and then a bunch of the cheaper units that people can play away from the TV or take on trips with them.

Re: Pre-Orders For Mario And Yoshi Statue Go Live On First 4 Figures Website
Re: Octopath Traveler Makes The Leap To Mobile, New Console Game Will Take "A Little While Longer"
Re: Octopath Traveler Makes The Leap To Mobile, New Console Game Will Take "A Little While Longer"
Re: Talking Point: Could Nintendo Ditch Physical Media With A 'Switch Lite?'
Re: Trials Rising Screenshots On The Switch eShop Look Better Than The Actual Game
Unrelated to the screenshots but I’m a bit disappointed to find the game doesn’t support cloud saves. Annoying omission.
Re: Video: Digital Foundry Puts The Trials Rising Open Beta On Switch To The Test
Re: Review: Trials Rising - Death-Defying Stunts On The Move
@subpopz does the wireless 8bitdo GameCube adapter solve the issue for tabletop? I had a quick look and after a firmware patch for the device it passes through analog trigger inputs to the switch (as opposed to converting it to digital on the way).
http://www.8bitdo.com/gbros/
Tempted to grab one now.
Re: Review: Trials Rising - Death-Defying Stunts On The Move
I'm finding it pretty good myself.
Re: Ori And The Blind Forest For Switch Spotted In UK Wholesale Database
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 23rd)
Re: Rumour: Microsoft Plans To Bring Xbox App And Game Pass To Nintendo Switch
@kraventhehunter1 Goldeneye’s rights issues stretch well beyond Nintendo and MS. It also spans into the rights to distribute Bond gaming titles having changed hands not to mention potentially messy issues with film studios. The two companies getting along and partnering up only goes a small way to getting a Goldeneye re-release, especially if it’s a remaster people probably want (and if not you can just emulate it anyway).
Re: Rumour: Microsoft Plans To Bring Xbox App And Game Pass To Nintendo Switch
Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe World Record Attempt Fittingly Destroyed By Blue Shell
@BulkSlash Yeah I agree regarding the blue shell mechanics not being fantastic. Not a big fan of items that seem to be there more for griefing than offering any real benefit to the person that used it. Sure it may mix up the results but there’s a good chance it won’t progress the user up the ladder.
If I’m ever down enough to get the blue shell I’d generally be hoping for a star, lightening bolt, bullet bill, golden mushroom or even red shells over the blue since they’ll better assist me climb the ladder.
Re: Talking Point: What Do You Want From A Switch Mini?
Bluetooth Audio!!!
Re: UK Charts: New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe Launch Sales 24.8% Higher Than On Wii U, Hits Number One
Re: Yoshi's Crafted World File Size Revealed, Almost 3GB Smaller Than Yoshi's Woolly World On Wii U
Don’t see any reason to be concerned.
Re: DOOM Eternal Composer Recruiting Heavy Metal Choir For Unspecified Project
Great to hear Mike is back. Arguably the audio was as instrumental to Dooms success as anything else in the game given how fantastically they integrated it into the game and how effectively it was able to set the mood and tempo. Such was the impact of the audio that at times it felt like the game was almost a rhythm music title where the visuals and player input was driven by the audio rather than the other way around.
Re: Get A Surprise Switch Game In The Latest Limited Run Promotion
Stupid offer. If the games were $15 or $20 maybe as at least that makes them cheaper than they initially were on sale for. At $30 most of the titles are the same price as they were in the initial release except this time you can’t pick which one you’re getting. You’d have to be a big Limited Run fan to be interested in this, at which point you likely have the games anyway or enough that a random dip has a bad odds you’ll get one you already own.
Re: Nintendo Continues Festive Offers In Europe With Further Discounts
@Trikeboy I don’t think this list has a single Nintendo title on it.
Re: Random: Backpack Kid Suing Epic For Inclusion Of Floss Dance Move In Fortnite
Re: Elon Musk Couldn't Convince Nintendo To Add Mario Kart To Tesla's Electric Car Line
Re: Attention All Pokémon Let's Go Poké Ball Plus Owners: For The Love Of God, Don't Ever Delete Your Save
Re: Guide: Can't Connect Pokémon GO To Pokémon: Let's Go On Switch? Try This Simple Fix

Re: Lots Of Rare amiibo Figures Appear To Be Getting Re-Runs For Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Amazon Japan had the entire roster available for pre order not too long ago. Ordered a few of those rare ones like Cloud Player 2 and Corrin player 2 and they’re due in Jan/Feb. Megaman, Sonic, the lot we’re there.
Re: Blizzard's Loot Goblin amiibo Will Hoard Treasure For You This December
@Octane I think the reuse of another lines design is disappointing, given it doesn’t fit with the theme of Amiibo where the figures actually resemble thebin game counterpart.
Do a Google and look at the other Diablo figures in the series as a possible taste of things to come. I hope I’m wrong as (in my opinion) Diablo itself has a terrible version.
Re: Rumour: Dataminers Uncover Evidence Of Diablo Themed amiibo
@Dazzle Depends on whether you feel you'll get value out of the digital content (depends on the game and Amiibo and the digital content value add can vary dramatically) or whether you like them as something to collect.
Bit hard to tell you one way or another, it depends on whether you think they're worth it to yourself or not. I believe they are going to re-release the entire Smash line in Japan at least around Dec - Feb so if you plan to get in then it might be a good time given many of the older ones are hard to get or go for an arm and leg on eBay.
Re: Rumour: Dataminers Uncover Evidence Of Diablo Themed amiibo
Please please please don’t do something stupid like make them exclusive to Blizzcon attendees. Even exclusive to the Blizzard store would be a drag, but I could live with that as long as I can do an international order without paying an eBay scalpers rate.
Re: It Looks Like The Official Super Mario Encyclopedia Plagiarised A Fan-Made Wiki
Re: It Looks Like The Official Super Mario Encyclopedia Plagiarised A Fan-Made Wiki
@LeftyGreenMario Citing the book seems like a very easy decision given it’s a Nintendo licensed product and the only official reference that has a name for that character. Whether the name appeared on your wiki prior to that seems irrelevant at this point, the names now in a licensed text.
Re: It Looks Like The Official Super Mario Encyclopedia Plagiarised A Fan-Made Wiki
Re: It Looks Like The Official Super Mario Encyclopedia Plagiarised A Fan-Made Wiki
Re: Make Some Spooky Switch Savings On WayForward Games This Halloween In The US
Going against what others felt I found HGH to be average at best.
Re: EA Will Add Usain Bolt To FIFA 19 If He Can Secure A Professional Contract
@Heavyarms55 "Oh, one of the most famous people on the planet. Among sports fans I guess? Never heard of him."
No the original statement is correct. He's one of the better known people in the world regardless of interest in the field of athletics or sports in general. Somehow you may have missed hearing about him but that doesn't mean he hasn't been famous for a very long time.
Re: Motion Twin's "Band-Aid" Patch For Dead Cells On Switch Adds 30fps Option
@JasmineDragon Nevermind the fact that theres another article on the front page right now discussing the planned free DLC and the fact the Devs asking people in a public forum what they would like to see following that. The developer seems to care an awful lot to be honest about this title.
Re: Motion Twin's "Band-Aid" Patch For Dead Cells On Switch Adds 30fps Option
@Silly_G There was plenty of bugs and issues prior to the 360 generation. Gamers were just more tolerant of it or those games have simply been forgotten about with time. Games were also far more simplistic back then and with decreased complexity comes an inherit gain when it comes to debugging code.
And yes, issues in older titles includes games with outright game breaking bugs, which in some cases made a game impossible to complete. Here’s a good example: https://kotaku.com/that-time-a-teenage-mutant-ninja-turtle-game-was-litera-1778291066
Re: Kickstarter Launches For The '3 Up', A Stylish Switch Carry Case That Adapts To Your Needs
Re: Soapbox: We Like To Grumble, But Nintendo Switch Online Is Actually A Very Generous Offer
Re: Soapbox: Why I'm Not Excited About Playing NES Games On The Nintendo Switch
NES has some ok games but personally I'd prefer SNES or N64, if not Gamecube. Even if it was a smaller selection, the games themselves would be more substantial.
I won't be happy until the Switch has Mario World, the Donkey Kong Country trilogy and A Link to the Past dammit! I'm sure the NES and SNES Classics were developed as a lead in to this though, in particular the emulation, so I'm sure we'll at least see SNES titles once they've burned through easy wins with the NES.
Re: Gallery: Behold The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Nintendo Switch Hardware Bundle
Re: Nintendo Restocks Super Smash Bros. amiibo In The UK Ahead Of Ultimate's Launch
For what it’s worth Amazon Japan relisted every one including player 2’s a while back for preorder with deliver in Dec and Feb. Believe they ship internationally, otherwise use a mail forwarder. Being Amazon you can cancel prior to the delivery should they appear again in local markets.
Re: Bethesda Has Spoken To Nintendo About Smash Bros., Future Nintendo Exclusives Are "Possible"
Doom guy would be ok, but I think I’d prefer Vault Boy.
Re: Gallery: A Closer Look At The Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu And Eevee Switch Console
Re: Random: Knock-Off Switch Joy-Con Controller Might Not Look Wireless, But It Actually Is
Ugly and “up to” four hour of battery is crap for a controller. Heck in some cases they might die out quicker than the console with that runtime.
