Who buys these?
^^ As stated above, who has $700 to spend on a statue like this?
I'm sorry but, the character designs aren't exactly intricate so it doesn't lend to this being worth $500+. I could see it being like, $60-100 but not what they're asking. Personal opinion, anyways.
I mean it's nice and all and I'd rather have it than not but... who buys these? Where do you put them? How can you justify that price?
Also how come it takes a full year from now to release? Is it in beta? Are they ironing out bugs?
I might get 1 for the bathroom
...... I really wanted one of these but at this price?! Oh my goodness this is expensive. I'm a huge Yoshi fan but I can't possibly afford this.
Years ago I used to collect all this sort of stuff, gaming statues, figures, art books etc but then sold it all when I realised what a waste of money it was.....just sat there on shelves collecting dust!
@Ooccoo_Jr I'm guessing that people who have $700 to burn on a Mario and Yoshi statue also have the space to display it!
It’s so big even if I had spare cash for it I’m not sure where I’d put it
I just collect amiibo small and perfectly formed
Yeah come on, I mean, what madman buys statues from these guys?
sweats profusely as currently has $950 worth of statues on preorder
Would they put Yoshi in smash if they get enough support from us?
That definitive edition looks cool... Sees Price how about I just get 2 new switches instead?
It's lovely but I can't... I have the Samus Varia Suit exclusive coming soon and I pre-ordered the Meta Ridley exclusive so I'm out £900 haha but it's worth it!
Do you get a discount if you buy both?
If I had a mansion with a games room the size of our twin room apartment, I would have the space to display one of these. Then I also would have the money to..really buy something else instead.
Kinda pricey for a giant amiibo
Got mine ordered! Definitive edition!
Gonna go real nice next to my F4F Bowser!
Also guys, you don't have to buy them outright.
You pay a non refundable deposit and then spread the cost over a period of up to 12 months.
It takes that long for them to go into production anyway so it all works out great. Not nearly as bad as it seems!
When Punchout! Wii launched, they had a plastic boxing glove "signed by Little Mac" (a pretend person who doesn't actually exist). It went for hundreds of dollars and now goes for thousands.

These things are for the slim market segment that has fu money and are gaming enthusiasts.
@phanboy Yoshi is in smash though...
???
I would love one of these but I probably would only do Link or Samus at that price. Sadly I've never really paid attention to these so I've missed the boat. Though I'm sure they will another one. Also after seeing the price I do not feel near as bad about my Amiibo collection.
@Azikira it's ridiculous given they're all made in sweatshops in China (and they literally are). The pricing is Apple-esque and in no way representative of development and manufacturing costs
I wanted to like this one, but it's too shiny, looks like a huge happy meal toy
This is the type of thing that as soon as you die, your family will just throw it away in the trash
Geez the only person who could afford this is Elon Musk.
For the price of the definitive collection, I could make concrete statues of them, much taller with good detail from a local artist. Forget that over priced piece of plastic
These statues are actually quite cheap compared to the costs in the film and comic industries - these statues go for $1000s in other industries. They're hand painted and resin materials are expensive.
It's worth noting, too, that broadly these don't really devalue. They only make them to order, and although they don't all rise in price, they rarely drop in price. Look at the price of the Majora's Mask statues now they're sold out via F4F.
These are ultimately bits of art.
@timdickin no they're not.
@zever it's resin.
I bought the Link on King of Red lions statue for $479.99. The price was easily handled by their flexi-pay options, it's like $25 a month depending on the statue over the course of a year (at least that's what I paid for King of red Lions if I remember correctly). I held off on buying an F4F for years. The only reason I did was because Wind Waker is a very dear memory of mine, and my all time favorite game. As such, the statue still brings me joy today!
That said, don't shame people for wanting to buy a statue of their favorite character. It's a fun hobby, and is an excellent investment (as these statues almost always double in price as soon as they are no longer in production.). It's not for everyone, I freely admit. Just seeing a lot of hating here lol! If you have the cash, and the desire then go for it! If not, don't! Simple as that.
@RickD haha buyers regret doesn't exist with these things. You can cancel at any moment, and if you decide you don't want it later you can easily flip them for twice what you paid for them, as they only make them to order. Now if you buy them aftermarket... Then buyer's remorse might kick in.
How the hell is this 500-650$???
This should be like 200-250$ at most, especially considering how the design is simple as all hell
You'd have to commit tax fraud to afford one of these 😂😉
yeah just let me pull $$$ out of my bunghole... NOT..... I'll spend that money on Amiibos instead.
Personally I like the F4Fs work and have a few of the statues, but I’m losing interest in their new releases as they’re clearly trying to outdo themselves with each new product in terms of size, features and then in turn cost.
The older ones were much smaller and a much much better size if you wanted to slot it into your home somewhere without having to dedicate a space. Now days they keep going bigger and bigger. To add to insult the shipping internationally then goes into the $100+ to I believe multiple hundreds to some regions because the things so damn big and heavy.
Now days I’ve lost interest in their resin models and have more interest in the PVC. Sure, they aren’t as nice but at least the size and cost is kept in check. For characters like Mario PVC would be 100% fine.
They’ll defend it with saying they have payment plans etc but in the end of the day you’re still paying that obscene amount.
It’s not bad but I have 4 statues I am paying for currently. I’ll wait or try to get the cat mario one. I’m still trying to decide if I want Shiranui.
