Nintendo last week released the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 'Wave 2' Booster Course Pass DLC. It features another eight tracks, including two more from the mobile game, Mario Kart Tour. They include New York Minute and Sydney Sprint.
Now, to drum up even more excitement for this new DLC, it's released a commercial exclusively highlighting all of the Mario Kart Tour tracks that have been added to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe so far. This brief clip also includes the Paris and Tokyo courses.
Speaking of Mario Kart Tour, Nintendo yesterday teased a September multiplayer update for the mobile game, which will apparently be adding some "new ways to play". More information about this will be delivered early on in September. The new track Sky-High Sundae is also available in Mario Kart Tour.

Sydney Sprint is my favorite city track so far. I like how it's longer, and the opera house and park give some good location variety.
i honestly really dig the tour tracks. theyre simple but are still unique with the track changing each lap, really gives the vibe of traveling around a city. it was an especially cool change for kalimari desert
You know what. i didn’t give the tour tracks enough credit. I said how I hated them the most but you know what, it was probably because I sucked at them. After spending time on the, I definitely like them, there different then your normal Mario kart tracks.
My favorite one in the dlc so far, is definitely is the new one I can’t remember the name off. It’s really fun!
"Real world locations are now in Mario Kart."
And they're on average by far the least imaginative and fun tracks to race on that I've personally seen thus far. Flat, largely one-dimensional, and perhaps their greatest offense: they don't really feel like they belong in a Mario Kart game at all, either aesthetically or mechanically.
Of course the worst part is that, if the "leaks" prove true, we'll be seeing at least one Tour track in EVERY remaining Cup (possibly two!). Overrepresenting the worst tracks in MK history SERIOUSLY devalues the Booster Course Pass.
Love the new tracks. Finally gave them a go recently. Glad they aren’t locked to mobile/Tour.
I think they're neat, not the best but they're certainly not terrible.
But this is coming from someone who likes SMK Mario Circuit 3, so take that for what you will. lol
@Yosher Wait people actually hate that track?
@Snatcher Hate is maybe a strong word, but I've seen plenty of people disliking it at least for being bland. You know, with it being a super simple flat Kart track and all.
I like Sydney Sprint but I'm not liking the other Tour tracks thus far. Think they feel rather clumsily put together with all the random railed off walls and their visuals can be pretty bland.
In particular I think Ninja Hideaway might be the worst Mario Kart track I've played. It really just feels like such a cluttered unfocused mess.
@Yosher Huh, I mean I know it’s bland I guess, but the track is so fun at high speeds!
@Snatcher Agreed! It's a very turn heavy track which is great.
@Ade117 I love the jazz music on Sydney Sprint, it's amazing, sounds like something from Metropolis Street Racer on the Dreamcast. Very late 90s SEGA like.
@Lizuka Ninja Hideaway was my favourite out of the new tracks so far!
Being able to play those Tour tracks is nice, since I do not plan on playing Tour. Still I would prefer if Mario stays away from real life as much as possible. Mario should stay more imaginative.
@Yosher it was more of pavlov reaction.. it looks still snessy so boo nintendo, while online i have had some of the greatest races on it…. There seem to be people who judge the tracks solely by if it looks like they expected it to look, instead of just enjoying the max out of every track…
Myself looking forward to the Amsterdam track.. not just because i’m an Amsterdammer, but the variations in tour gave some excellent new routes through the canals..
I've enjoyed the DLC courses thus far, but these releases really could've used some more "stuff".
Extra cars, gliders, skins.
Also, give us some custom cup creation for multiplayer. Voting on a map between every race is such a pain.
Paris and Sydney are great. Tokio is mandatory ofcourse. New York seems tot be the weakest.
They're all realy good commercials. Makes me want to go places.
@AtlanteanMan I'm the opposite opinion. Adding the tour tracks ups the value for me. I hate paying for old content. I'd rather just get the new stuff.
Honestly I was iffy about the Tour tracks at first but they’ve probably been my biggest favourites.
It’s funny to hear people complaining about the City courses as if Mario Kart hadn’t had courses like Toad’s Turnpike for a long time.
I will say that some of the City tracks are quite turn heavy, and given that the routes change (especially Sidney Sprint) they can be more difficult to adjust to. But that’s actually part of what makes me like them. Courses like Mount Wario were always my favourites.
@Lizuka Of all the tracks, it does feel the most "unfinished".
@AtlanteanMan A lot of the city courses not yet in 8 Deluxe have generally improved on this, with more interesting setpieces and mechanics. Bangkok is probably the best example of this, as you go through a floating market where you can trick off boats (including ones with canopies that act like mushrooms), then navigate through a railway market with its canopies as routes, and then go through a section with an upper and lower route where Ink Piranha Plants appear as hazards on the lower one - and that's just the first variant. Berlin has Whomps that fall onto racers but act as trickable surfaces after falling and a fair amount of shortcuts, including one through a train. Singapore has conveyor belts, gliding rings, a currently unused Chinatown segment with a unique version of the song, a cannon, geysers, and Goombas in floaties, and probably has the most verticality out of any city so far. Amsterdam has an entire section in the canals with blowing water in addition to windmills, Monty Moles, and tram cars. Every track other than London (which I think might fare the worst in the DLC, all its variants are somewhat long and fairly uninteresting) we have yet to receive has more going on than the ones brought over; hopefully, unlike Sydney, they translate over each idea from Tour without changing things for the worse. The bridge was way more interesting when the train threw items like Mushrooms and Bob-ombs instead of just coins, even though I think Sydney is more compelling in 8 Deluxe overall. 4 of the cities we've received so far are in my bottom 5, but I think they improved on Paris and Sydney, so I'm really excited to see the better cities make it over.
