Re: A Boy and His Blob Is Heading To Switch Soon

@Fighting_Game_Loser You're probably right. Still, the game's already made. It should've been easy money to just re-release it for every single platform every time. Makes you wonder how many needs to be sold for them to break even.

Re: Switch's N64 Controller Is Hiding Some Extra Buttons

Sinton

I really don't understand some of the flak given to the N64 controller, particularly the stick. I wonder if those complaining are complaining about how the stick works today, 20+ years after it was released, or if they actually owned one back in the day. To fire up Mario 64 for the first time, and discover there's not a desicated run button anymore - it's how far you tilt the stick that decides how fast you move - there was nothing like that around.

If it was the d-pad people complained about, I could've understood it, but the stick worked flawless (until Mario Party game number three).

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of Yesterday's Nintendo Direct?

Somewhere between very good and average (good, in other words). Happy about the NSO expansion and the N64/SMD controllers, and Kirby was a pleasant surprise. But too many «here's something you must know - we'll tell you more at this date».

I'd prefer it if Nintendo just gave us shorter Nintendo Direct's more often.

@Adamario Great work!

There's also the light gun games (Duck Hunt, Hogan's Alley etc.), the R.O.B. games (hard to pull of) and the mouse games (only Mario Paint?).

I wonder if there are some complications with games such as Pinball (was it based on another game?) and Super Mario RPG (licensing with Square Enix).

And, of course, all the games made by other companies, such as Rare (R.C. Pro-Am, Killer Instinct), and licensed games such as Popeye, the Tetris games etc..

I don't mind games like this coming to the NSO, on the contrary. But, like others have pointed out, there's still a Final Fantasy I-VI / Chrono Trigger / Earthbound / Super Mario RPG / Actraiser / The Legend of the Mystical Ninja / Illusion of Time/Gaia / Bionic Commando / Battletoads shaped hole (not to talk of all the Turtles, Ducktales etc.) in the catalog.

Re: Soapbox: Can We Just Announce All Platforms At The Same Time Already?

Sinton

Often times, I end up not buying a game at all because I'm waiting to see if it comes to the console I want it for. Call me crazy, but I prefer to play Nintendo games on Nintendo consoles and Playstation games on Playstation consoles. So when Capcom released the Disney Afternoon Collection (consisting of NES games only) on PS4, I didn't buy it, hoping it would be released on Switch. At this point, I doubt it'll ever be released on Switch, but had I known for sure that's the case, I probably would've caved and bought it for PS4.

Re: Mini Review: Golazo! - Knockabout Soccer Action Straight Outta The 1990s

Too bad about Scotland, but in my (somewhat biased) opinion, it's worse that Norway is lacking. Drew and defeated Italy in 1991, defeated and drew the Netherlands as well as England during the 1992-1993 qualification for World Cup 94 (winning the group, making England miss out for the first time since 1978), and got knocked out of the world cup after all the teams in the group (including finalists Italy) ended up on 4 points.

And what about Cameroon and Switzerland? As far as I can tell, those are the only three teams missing from the (then) upcoming World Cup.

No disrespect to a team such as Iceland, but they were not a team to reckon with in 1992, 24 years before they qualfied for their first ever tournament. And Croatia didn't become a UEFA member before summer 1993, playing their first competitive match in 1994.

Re: Super Soccer Blast: America vs Europe Kicks Off This Week

@gcunit Don’t get me started on E… oh, wait!

@The_New_Butler Yeah, there’s not an abundance of (good) football games on Switch. But there are some that could bring a few hours of fun for a relatively low price.

I remember loving Super Soccer on the SNES in the early 90s. It was clearly no International Superstar Soccer, but fun for what it was. Currently available through the Nintendo Switch Online SNES app.

I’ve heard good things about Super Sidekicks 2 and 3, though I’ve never tried them.

I would love to see the release of the SNES and N64 International Super Soccer games, arcade ports of SEGA’s Virtua Striker games, Sensible Soccer and/or Tecmo Cup Football Game. Even the old Kick Off games could be fun with online multiplayer.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch 'Pro' Reveal Expected Before E3, Out This Year

Sinton

@QuickSilver88 it sort of was an upgraded Wii, but it wasn’t. When you buy a PS4 Pro or an Xbox One X, the PS4/XB1 games are upscaled or enhanced to run at 4K (not quite on the PS4 Pro, but still). When you start a Wii game on a Wii U, it boots down, starts again in «Wii Mode» with no enhancements whatsoever. As far as I understand, this new Switch model will be a Pro/X version of the regular Switch, not a new generation with backwards compatability.
