With some modern polish (adding actual hints, not hiding things that's near impossible to find without a guide, not sending you back to the beginning when you’re game over), this would've been a fantastic game. At least you feel real accomplishment when you beat it.
This should mean that they're making a new collection or service, but with SEGA you never know. It's 2024, and I still can't buy a collection of Master System or Saturn games.
Let's hope they can make a deal in the future with Activision, Parker Brothers, Taito, Namco and/or whoever owns the rights to Imagic's games and Battlezone. As it is, this is what's possible for the 2600.
I'm still not sure what games are in this «anniversary edition». Are the PC, Dreamcast, PSX, N64 and GBC versions all part of this, or are they just meshed into one game?
Doubt there'll be anything before the holdiays, and if so, it will be focusing on the games that are coming out in 2024. The next major direct will be in 2025.
Glad Berzerk is added, but hopefully Atari can strike a deal with Activision, Namco, Taito, Parker Brothers and/or whoever owns the rights to Imagic in the future.
Don't understand why Sega won't release more from their catalogue. Why can't I spend money on the Alex Kidd games, Golden Axe, After Burner, Ninja Gaiden etc.? They could've had like 10 different collections.
@Bass_X0 I believe it was released in September along with A Link to the Past.
Super Mario World, Super Tennis, Super Soccer, Super R-Type and F-Zero are listed as launch games in Norway/Sweden, at least (with Super Castlevania IV releasing a couple of months later).
Just give us all the original arcade and Master System games on a modern console or Steam. It's ridiculous that so many of the classics are unavailable to purchase in 2023. Throw in Saturn and Dreamcast while you're at it.
That's too bad, I enjoyed E3 far more than Summer Game Fest etc. You knew Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft etc. would bring their A-game. Now it's all a little bit more iffy, in my opinion.
@FullMetalWesker Absolutely, and you can colorize Citizen Kane and Casablanca, write Shakespeare in todays language and let Taylor Swift record Edith Piaf's entire catalogue in English with new and modern recording equipment. It would probably find new audiences. Heck, the live-action version of The Lion King is the seventh-highest grossing film of all time, so it's clearly a wise business idea.
I'd rather they spent their resources on entirely new ideas, however, plus concentrate on giving us the classics with quality emulation. But that's just my point of view.
@larryisaman Remakes are not about accessability, though. It's about making money. Playing Link's Awakening in it's original form wouldn't be any harder or worse an experience on the Switch than playing the HD remake. And the remakes do stop the originals getting re-released (like Link's Awakening, Super Mario RPG, the entire Gamecube catalogue).
With save states and rewind features, I don't see the need for remakes at all.
@larryisaman I'm pretty sure you can «get into» the Metroid series without playing the first two games. And video games 40-50 years ago are closer to video games today, than books, films and music from their infant days. I've yet to hear anyone say we need a rewrite of The Iliad or Shakespeare for modern audiences, someone singing The Beatles or Elvis in a more contemporary way, or someone born in the 2000s talking about how good Citizen Kane or Rear Window are.
@Quiet2down If the game is good enough to play, it's good enough. If not, just make a new game. Remakes of games, films, TV-shows, music, books. Pointless in my opinion.
@Woderwick Nah, just looking on social media, it's part kayfabe and part real world / out of character. You're never in doubt what's part of the act and what isn't.
Not too be that guy, but just because the fighting in wrestling isn't real and the outcome's predetermined, it's not «fake». (Never heard anyone say a stage play or a movie is fake…)

Brilliant music, though!
Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Checking Out Switch Online's Virtual Boy Service?
Not possible to order here, so «Would've, but can't».
Re: ICYMI: If You Want To Play Virtual Boy Classics, You'll Need To Buy One Of Nintendo's Accessories
I think this is brilliant, but living in Scandinavia, I'll have to go through hoops to actually get it, and probably at twice the price.
Re: PSA: You Can Play One Of The Greatest Platformers Of All Time In Street Fighter 6
Bionic Commando, which is unavailable anywhere else?
Re: Review: Nintendo Switch Online GameCube Controller - The Return Of The King
Would've bought it, but Bergsala makes it next to impossible. Terrible company.
Re: Random: Using A GameCube Controller With The NSO App Yields Fun Surprises
Can you use an original (or Wii U / Switch Smash Bros.) controller with adapter?
(Living in Norway, there's no way to order the NSO controller without some forwarding shenanigans.)
Re: Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection Comes To Switch And Switch 2 In 2025
Finally - this should've been released years ago.
Re: Switch 2 GameCube NSO Controllers Up For Pre-Order On My Nintendo Store UK
Can't preorder as Nintendo Europe no longer ships to Norway. Fantastic.
Re: Scandinavian Nintendo Fans Are Considering Flying Abroad For Cheaper Switch 2s
Bergsala's been terrible for 30+ years. Hope Nintendo somehow establishes its own office in the Nordics.
Re: Nintendo Confirms Removal Of Switch Online SNES Game
1 of the 5 launch games here in Europe.
Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Reveal Trailer Gives First Official Look At The New Console
Looks good. So happy that it's backwards compatible, bot physical and digital!
Re: Sega Delisting 'Mega Drive Classics' On Switch eShop This December
This should mean that they're making a new collection or service, but with SEGA you never know. It's 2024, and I still can't buy a collection of Master System or Saturn games.
Re: Every New Game In Atari 50's Final DLC Expansion Has Been Revealed
@MontyCircus Most are games developed and/or released by Atari, but there are some exceptions, like the M Network (Mattel) games.
Re: Every New Game In Atari 50's Final DLC Expansion Has Been Revealed
@MeloMan No, but At Games have released Atari «mini» consoles with Activision games included.

Re: Talking Point: After A September No-Show, Will There Be An October Nintendo Direct?
Doubt there'll be anything before the holdiays, and if so, it will be focusing on the games that are coming out in 2024. The next major direct will be in 2025.
Re: Even More Aero The Acro-Bat Games Are Heading To Switch This Year
Zero was released on the SNES in Scandinavia, so it wasn't a North America exclusive.
Re: New TMNT: Shredder's Revenge Collector's Edition Comes Bundled With DLC, Figures & More
Yeah, I feel really good about buying the «Radical Edition». Next time, I'll just wait and see before I buy a game by Tribute Games.

Re: Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection For Switch Confirmed As "Code In Box" Release (Europe)
Guess I'll wait until it's 70% off on Steam, then. Pointless.

Re: Warner Bros. Is Reportedly Looking To Sell A Stake In Its Games Business
Someone please buy the Midway catalogue.
Re: Best Nintendo Switch Football Games
All the games in the Super Sidekicks have been removed, no?
Too bad Konami won't release the games in the International Superstar Soccer series. ISS, ISS Deluxe and ISS 98 were great.
Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's NES Library With Seven More Games
Great update!
Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's SNES Library With Three More Titles
@Bass_X0 If you're thinking about North America, however, I believe you're right (Super Mario World, F-Zero and SimCity).

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's SNES Library With Three More Titles
With the additon of Super R-Type, all the launch games for the SNES in Europe are currently available through NSO.
Re: My Nintendo Store Reveals Paper Mario: Thousand-Year Door Pre-Order Bundle (EU)
Would love to order this, but sadly Nintendo Norway (Bergsala) hates their customers, so it's not possible.
Re: Another Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Beat 'Em Up Is Coming To Switch This April
Prefer this art style over all the later incarnations. Would prefer if they go back to the source material or first cartoon series, though.
Re: Over 50 Years After The Original, Pong's Sequel Gets A Switch Release Date
Just give us Atari controllers for the Switch already.
Re: Talking Point: What Classic Sega Franchises Do You Want To See Rebooted?

Re: Talking Point: Does Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Need A Full Remake?
@NintendoByNature I'd rather have a brand new Zelda game with similar game mechanics. (Or just a decent translation of the original.)
Re: Talking Point: Does Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Need A Full Remake?
@larryisaman What would be lost if you just made a new Metroid game instead of remaking 1 and 2?
Re: Talking Point: Does Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Need A Full Remake?

Re: Talking Point: Does Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Need A Full Remake?
No game in the history of video games have ever needed a remake.
Re: Disney Boss Reportedly Being Urged To Acquire A Major Game Publisher
Just release old Disney games already. Why in 2023 can't I buy Capcom's DuckTales on every single platform known to humankind?
Re: Review: WrestleQuest - A Wholesome RPG That Struggles In The Ring
@Poodlestargenerica I'm sure those that believe it's real, also believe every movie and TV-show they see are real.

Re: Cowabunga! New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem Game Announced For Next Year
Outright Games? Wtf? It's as if Nickelodeon haven't learned anything from the recent releases.
(Too bad Rocksteady can't make a TMNT game. Not because of the name-link, but the TMNT would be perfect in an Arkham game.)
Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's Game Boy Color, SNES & NES Library With Four More Games
The Kunio-kun game was released as part of the Double Dragon & Kunio-kun Retro Brawler Bundle. It's supposedly very good.
Re: Review: Taito Milestones 2 - A Better Selection With The Fabulous Triple-Screen Darius II

Re: Nintendo Announces Mario Red Edition Switch OLED, Out October
Quite underwhelming.
Re: Mario And Yoshi Star In Nintendo's New Summer Wallpaper
Love the art style. Wish Nintendo would make a Mario game in this art style.
