Re: Mario Sports Superstars Is Getting Its Own Range Of amiibo Cards

SinnohGeek

I wish they would actually tell us what the new amiibo do whenever they announce them in press releases like this. You can't just say they unlock "bonuses," then put them up for preorder without anyone knowing what they do. Sure, some people preorder no matter what (new Zelda amiibo come to mind), but they would get even more preorders in if they told us what they do. They have five amiibo figures, one of which is a whopping $20, and a whole new line of amiibo cards announced to release in just a month and a half, and we know absolutely nothing about their compatibility despite knowing about most of these amiibo since E3 2016.

Re: It's Nintendo Switch Petition Time, With Miiverse on the Agenda

SinnohGeek

They'll probably replace Miiverse with something. Maybe a new website where you can post whatever screenshots you have in your gallery. Even if the Switch doesn't get a new Miiverse-type thing, they've already made it clear that the Wii U and 3DS versions of Miiverse will be supported for many more years.

The Switch... at PAX South?! In San Antonio?! Less than 10 minutes away from my house?! HOLY CRAP. This is one of the first big Nintendo events (and only the third PAX convention) that actually stops in my home town of all places! FOR ONCE they pick San Antonio over Austin! TO THE PAX WEBSITE!

Re: Skylanders Developer Vicarious Visions Is Now Working On Destiny

SinnohGeek

@SafariSuz I think part of the cancellation is not only the sales' fault, but also Activision's fault. They tend to bleed their series dry for a few years before throwing the devs in the trash like a baby's old toy. I've always loathed Activision, but I stuck with Skylanders because despite all that Activision did to botch the series, you could see that both Toys for Bob and Vicarious Visions put their hearts and souls into everything they could fit into the game. I thought it would be some cruddy paywall mania with Spyro as their puppet until I actually tried Giants. I know V.V will be ok from here on out since they work on Crash Bandicoot titles and Destiny now, but I definitely feel sorry for Toys for Bob. Skylanders is what made them a big developer, so if Activision lays them off, there is pretty much a 0% chance of Skylanders ever having a reboot like Guitar Hero tried.

TLDR: Activision sucks.

Re: Skylanders Developer Vicarious Visions Is Now Working On Destiny

I hope they're at least taking a year break or something and not a full cancellation. A break would make the next game bigger and better. If Skylanders is actually canceled, I'll be really sad, because it's been one of my favorite console games over the past four years that I've played it. It gets a lot of undeserved hate despite pioneering the TTL genre. Sure, using Spyro as their guest star in the first game just for nostalgia's sake (hence why I waited until 2013 to get into Skylanders) was a bad move, but they've definitely learned from their mistakes and have not only toned Spyro down and made a name for themselves, but they've also cut back on the paywalls and put more emphasis on the starter pack. Overall I feel that Skylanders should get some more credit someday. It's an extremely fun yet overlooked platformer/beat-em-up, and if more people would've just tried it out instead of judging a book by its cover, maybe it would finally get that love. This cancellation rumor may not be true since, as NL said, Destiny could be their next side project, and Christmas hasn't hit yet to boost all those sales, but whether it's gonna be canceled or not I thought I should get this out. People really shouldn't be cheering for the series' end and mocking its fans, because the end of this series will be pretty darn sad for them. Instead of ranting on and on about "poor Spyro," just don't buy it if you don't like it. It's ok to hate it, just don't shove it in everyone's faces if you do. I never really got into Crash Bandicoot and I don't yell about it everywhere. Plus, Crash got a trilogy announced when he was in Skylanders, so Skylanders has in no way prevented a new Spyro game.

Re: Rumour: The Skylanders Franchise Might Be Facing Cancellation

SinnohGeek

I really hope this isn't true. This game was their return to form from last year's disaster, I was hoping they'd continue forward. I really love the Skylanders games and I'd hate to see them go. Plus, if Skylanders, the pioneer of Toys to Life gaming, in cancelled, then what does that say for amiibo in the next few years...? If they both go I don't know what I'm gonna spend all my money on! If this cancellation ends up being true after the final wave of figures is out, I'm gonna start a full playthrough of every single Skylanders game I own, including the 3DS ones, to remember all the series has been through.

Re: GAME In-Store Advertising Indicates March 2017 Release For Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

SinnohGeek

So first one rumor says it won't be out on launch, and a bunch of other people follow it and say the same thing in their rumors. Now there's a rumor it'll be out on the switch's launch and there's gonna be even more people creating the same rumor. It's a pattern; one person starts a rumor and all the other rumors follow it in order to sound real.

Still though, with GAME themselves showing an official ad saying it'll be out in March, I think a launch release is very likely.

Re: Soapbox: In The Wii U's Final Days, Let's Be Thankful For Lego Dimensions

SinnohGeek

Some of you guys will hate me for this but I say we should give Skylanders credit for booting up all this TTL stuff, from amiibo to Lego Dimensions. Skylanders has some great games too and it recently found its footing once again with Imaginators, it just started off on the wrong foot for some fans by using the new Spyro as its first game's mascot. Plus, it also showed us that TTL companies can work together when they made Turbo Charge Donkey Kong and Hammer Slam Bowser. They've always had an excellent relationship with Nintendo, just like the Lego games.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch Will Have Super Mario And Skyrim At Launch, Splatoon Coming As Pack-In

SinnohGeek

Isn't it funny how when one single person says Breath of the Wild won't be a launch title, every other person "coincidentally" decides to release these rumors saying the same thing straight afterwards? That's a common pattern in rumors, and it's a good strategy to make it sound more real. Still, if Zelda isn't a launch title, the Switch won't do too good at launch. Have they not learned from the 3DS launch?

It keeps giving me an error when I update via the Update Data button on New Leaf. Other than that... WORDS CANNOT EXPRESS MY HYPE RIGHT NOW, I CAN LITERALLY TASTE SOUND AND READ MINDS, I HAVE EVOLVED TO A HIGHER LEVEL OF CONCIOUSNESS, THE HYPE HAS CONSUMED ME, I MUST BATHE IN THE GLORY OF MY AMIIBO.
