Re: Nintendo and DeNA Shares Tumble as Investors Show Super Mario Run Revenue Fears

Shinion

As always it seems like perception matters, it's quite incredible how 'free-to-play' has taken over, when it is still a (relatively) new concept, as opposed to the 30+ years of buying a thing and getting the thing that Nintendo have been around for most of.

I find several articles on free-to-play psychology to be well worth a read in light of all this. How gullible people can be pressured into rewarding the nice developers who gave their game away by buying into the freemium ecosystem and before they know it they've spent $60-100 rewarding these kind people and are in too deep to stop and so what's another $60-100 in comparison?

Even more pathetic when this psychological manipulation is used in $60 games as is all the range nowadays but that's a horse of a different coulor.

Re: Rumour: Dark Souls 3 and Trilogy Possible on Nintendo Switch, If System Sales Are Solid

Shinion

@jimi Gamefaqs much sonny?

On a more reasonable and less Gamefaqs note let's hope this is true. I've only played 3 (and Bloodborne from the same devs but yeah that's a PS4 exclusive) and I loved it, more people who get to play these games the better. Oh and with the audience Nintendo have with this likely being the first DS experience people will have ID hope that From Software belatedly add in an OPTIONAL EASY DIFFICULTY for these games.

Re: GameStop Says Nintendo Switch "Intent To Buy" Matches That Of The Xbox One

Shinion

As I said in the forums, things like this should be taken with a pinch of salt, at least before January 12th because we're still getting people jumping to inane conclusions at this stage such is the relatively low amount of info we have to go on.

Of course at this point gamers are "interested" in a game system and a business that sells games is positive about a games system. But on the other hand it should be apparent that these positive impressions bode well, and as much as he has a vested interest the CEO of GameStop has clout and knows how things go, having been one of the first people in the world to play Destiny for example and he was bang on in his positivity for that.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch To Start At £199.99 In United Kingdom, $329.99 In Canada

Shinion

@Anti-Matter and that's perfectly fine, I'm just saying that to the average Joe the Sony/PS brand is where it is at at least as far as this 'generation' is concerned. Who knows though, Sony aren't infallible and as the PS3 launch showed they are more than capable of messing up but Nintendo have to price this thing for right here right now and right now most people would rather spend $350 to get a machine to play Red Dead Redemption 2 rather than Breath of the Wild.

But the good thing is that in all likelihood that won't be the state of things as the Switch will only cost $250 at most. Good thing for us with taste eh?

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch To Start At £199.99 In United Kingdom, $329.99 In Canada

Shinion

@sjredo I've followed rumours for this system for a while now and I just can't agree that it should be $300+. That's even more expensive than the Wii U, and speaking at least from the market I'm most used to in the UK the ship sailed years ago for Nintendo to be the place to go for premier high-end gaming. From what I can tell it is the same for the rest of the world. The idea of playing 'AAA' games on-the-go is nice, but $300+ is a considerable sum of money for most people and they are not going to throw that down on a Nintendo system when the PS4 Pro is a similar price and has every multiplatform game worth a damn.

Hate to reference * that * Frozen song but my advice is just let it go.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch Will Launch On 17th March In Europe

Shinion

In that case I definitely do agree with the claims that Nintendo are being incredibly pessimistic and over cautious to only ship 2 million of these things before the end of March. I doubt it'll be Wii levels of stock shortages as the price is up in the air but if it is reasonable I would certainly predict shortages.

Re: Say Hello to the Nintendo Switch, a New Concept for Gaming

Shinion

As expected a certain people are AWOL following the positive reception of this system. Great to see lots of people are happy and the doomongers are not ruining it.

Also a shoutout to all those extras who kept their mouths shut since this was filmed as well as the leakers who were spot on despite the inane amounts of hateful comments they were receiving.

Today was good day.

Re: Preview Trailer of the Nintendo NX Confirmed for 20th October

Shinion

@Mart1ndo without question we will see the console, that will be the main focus of the video. The only two games that will be shown in all certainty are Zelda BoTW and the new Mario game whatever it is. 3 mins could be enough to showcase more games but it's unlikely when of course that will be a big focus of the next several months, they need to show people that the hybrid concept will work, and this video will be the do or die for many people (because life's to short to give something more than a quick 3 minutes to decide for some people) as to if the NX is worth their money.

For a more in depth look at what to expect I posted what I believe is a good summary of what the leakers have, well leaked. It's in the main NX forum of this site, shouldn't be too hard to find.

Re: Preview Trailer of the Nintendo NX Confirmed for 20th October

Shinion

Remember guys to be civil and calm, it's a video game system that will not affect your life in any way if you don't like it, so there is absolutely no need to attack/call people names/try to burden others with your potential disappointment. If people like this system that is a good thing, consider how you'd feel before you try to get at people who aren't you for liking something you don't like if you were in their position.

Let's all be rational mm'kay? I hope lots of people will be happy, that will be the best outcome.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo NX Won't Be As Powerful As PlayStation 4

Shinion

Wow I've not been on here in a while. But what a random place to get mentioned, err @YellowFighter 2016 called and it wants to pick you up from these 2015 articles you're lost in.

And yes I do think that the Wii wasn't a fluke. Most rational people think that too. Rational as in not going back to year old articles and posting "LOL" comments.

Re: LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Has Neat DLC, Yet It's Not Listed for Wii U

Shinion

@peeks That's fine, but again you are 100% off topic. Why did an article about a half-baked version of The Force Awakens published by Warner Bros turn into a discussion on Nintendo's VC prices and how evil Reggie is? Who? Why? How? When? What?

I just don't get why people like you have this angle. Regardless I've made my point so I'm out.

PS4 it is. And preowned. Because Warner Bros are stinky brains whose brains stink like brains that are stinky.

PS WB suck. Did you hear there was that one time just last year that they knowingly released a broken game on one platform and then said that they had quality standards and that they value their customers? Oh how I laughed and laughed and laughed.

WB more like WP with the 'p' standing for poo because that's what they are. Oh I'm too cool for school.

And I know this stopped being funny a while ago but whatever, I'm bored.

Re: LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Has Neat DLC, Yet It's Not Listed for Wii U

Shinion

@peeks whilst I'm sure that's a heck of a lot of good reasons to back up a particular argument that is out there somewhere, it has absolutely 0.0 relevance to the discussion here, namely being that it's not nearly enough to point at low sales for Mass Effect 3, Watch_Dogs and now this among many other 3rd party Wii U games that have been treated like worse than an afterthought of an afterthought and conclude that Nintendo fans are terrible people and Ubisoft, Warner Bros and EA deserve to be treated better by them. It works both ways as far as I'm concerned.

But yeah those VC prices without cross buy, they're not acceptable in 2016. And whilst we're just bringing up random things did you hear Mourinho is going to be the new manager of Manchester United. Shocking stuff.

Re: LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Has Neat DLC, Yet It's Not Listed for Wii U

Shinion

And this is yet another game to add to the pile of shame, that pile of shame being pathetic 3rd party attempts on Wii U. I have a PS4 and Xbox One, so even though I very much wanted to get this on Wii U the choice has been taken out of my hands. I don't understand why people supposedly draw the conclusion that Nintendo fans hate 3rd party games when all the evidence they put forward to support that are sorry attempts like these.

Why should people be OK with this? I most certainly am not, yet I'm the bad guy for some reason for not kissing their feet and saying "thank you master" whilst preordering it.

Screw Warner Bros and corporate apologists.

Re: Denis Dyack Blames "Unethical" Journalists For Almost Killing Shadow Of The Eternals

Shinion

@Pod I think you're being harsh on the journalists and lenient on the game devs if you're saying that these journalists are like lions pouncing on their prey (the game devs/publishes) after one little slip up and then mauling them. I'm not up to speed on this guy, but from multiple broken releases from 'AAA' companies like Ubisoft/EA, shady Kickstarters from Inafune and this guy (apparently), Gearbox's shameful Aliens Colonial Marines and the snake-oil salesman Peter Molyneux, I think these companies/individuals have had it coming for a long, long time after getting away with numerous minor incidents (Molyneux's lies go back as far as the first Fable game).

These people are rarely first time offenders who made a little oversight. EA with Battlefield 4, Gearbox with ACM and WB with Arkham Knight on PC all knew they were releasing broken games, and did it anyway. The people who tear them to shreds over these issues gain my respect, sometimes an apology and a forgive-and-forget attitude is far, far too lenient for what they did.

Re: Nintendo NX Will Be Launched Globally in March 2017

Shinion

Haha I bloody knew it. All those people who have been literally attacking people for months who weren't adamant that NX was launching this year. As usual, they're shown up to be the typical armchair analysts with nothing to show for it.

Ha.

Re: Humble Friends of Nintendo Bundle Offers Games at a Huge Discount

Shinion

Anyone who doesn't spend their money here is a poopy-head and a not nice person. At all.

Just kidding. This is a weird one for me, as I think I will go for the tier 2 deal but I already have Street Fighter physically and I was already planning to buy the Deathinitive (still love that) edition of Darksiders 2 on either PS4/Xbox One. And I'm only really interested in Affordable Space Adventures for the indies. I'll think about this a bit more but if I do decide to get those two games I may post here later giving them away. Not certain yet.

Re: 10 Years On, Hideki Kamiya Still Doesn't Think He Could Better Okami

Shinion

Not many devs have bettered Okami as far as I'm concerned so he shouldn't just single himself out. It's got a high number of faults, having to fight a lengthy boss fight 3 times, it drags on towards the end and it takes a while to truly get going but I for one was easily able to look past those faults when playing through it again a couple of months ago. A true classic, well done Clover Studios.

Re: Feature: Smiles and Tears - A Mother 3 Retrospective

Shinion

One of the most heartfelt and touching stories I've ever experienced in videogames. I pretty much only really didn't like the rhythm-based combat system, apart from that the game was fantastic. Can't wait for when it gets its belated release, it deserves far more than to be restricted to only the most passionate of Mother fans. 3DS/Wii U/NX whatever just get to it Nintendo!

Re: Talking Point: PS4K 'Neo', NX and Supplemental Computing Devices - Home Console Gaming May Be Changing

Shinion

@TheRealThanos I mean this is all just speculation but I'd like to think that if even we can learn some details about consoles before they're unveiled, I'd think chances are that th competition of those systems know pretty much all they need to know about them well in advance.

Were the bigwigs at Sony watching how Nintendo and in particular Microsoft messed up their recent consoles in amazement as they had no idea what they were like beforehand and then (and only then) decided to market the PS4 as they did as a reactionary measure? I don't think so.

We have no idea what the NX is, how the PS Neo or whatever it's called now will affect the PS4's success or what the Xbox 1.5 will do but I don't think Yoshida and co and Phil Spencer will be shocked at what the NX is. I bet they know pretty much already.

We'll see of course, I personally don't think that Sony have anything to worry about but I just don't think it's all a massive coincidence. I think that's a very naive way of looking at this situation.

Re: Talking Point: PS4K 'Neo', NX and Supplemental Computing Devices - Home Console Gaming May Be Changing

Shinion

@3MonthBeef but have even any of the rumours pointed towards NX having anything to do with 4K? There was one not too long ago on Neogaf that was made up that said NX would be compared to the PS4k with power but he was just guessing. From what I see, Nintendo are looking to bounce back from a failure, and right in the year they're planning to transit we get this happening. Coincidence? I dunno.

@TheRealThanos Oh thank the LORD! I was literally having a panic attack for a second there but your aggressive sarcasm has really put me at ease now. I was absolutely mistaken to believe that one videogame company might have an idea at what other videogame companies are up to. What was I thinking?

Next you're gonna tell me that the PS4 and Xbox One releasing a month from each other was a fluke too! I mean there's no way in heck it was planned right? And Nintendo trying to get a head start, they just read the stars am I right?

God I love sarcasm!

Re: Talking Point: PS4K 'Neo', NX and Supplemental Computing Devices - Home Console Gaming May Be Changing

Shinion

It is odd that right when Nintendo were starting to get the gears in motion for their move to the NX and phasing out the Wii U that both Sony and Microsoft have leaked outta pretty much nowhere that they too will release new hardware this year, which is an almost unprecedented action for the both of them to do.

Now I'm not gonna go all 'NX will be revolutionary'/'it's a conspiracy!' sorta thing but I just have to think about how odd the timing is. I certainly am not passing judgment on any 'new' system before they've even had a chance to sell it to us, but it does make me wonder. It is like they both want to steal Nintendo's thunder by releasing a system to draw the headlines away from Nintendo. That's what the timing makes it seem to me anyway, I mean why risk peaving off 30+ million people? Especially Sony who were 'winning the Console Wars' pretty much in cruise control.

I dunno but from the whispers and rumours and particularly the timing of them that is what I am reading into it.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Is Planning A Series Of Wii U Remasters For NX

Shinion

@Project_Dolphin totally ironic, especially when one remembers the reaction to one of the most expensive and longtime production ports/remasters Nintendo has ever done- Twilight Princess HD, for those not aware it wasn't a good reaction at all. Yet I know these very same people are in favour of Wii U ports that will be way more budget priced than TPHD. There is an obvious reason why they're like this that I've discussed in the NX thread but it's just more evidence as to why they shouldn't be taken seriously.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Is Planning A Series Of Wii U Remasters For NX

Shinion

I don't know why anyone is excited for this, considering they've spent the best part of the last year lambasting the Wii U as a whole, now they're desperate for ports. For some reason. But at least the usual lot are still complaining about the usual things so there's consistency there at least.

Also necessary RumourLife comment because it's funny.

Re: Nintendo NX 'Controller' Image Confirmed Fake By Its Creator

Shinion

I mean I'm not one to say I told you so but looks at my comment in the original article.

Why the heck anyone belived this was anything more than a desperate attention seeking gag is beyond me. If you're not a Nintendo employee you have to be a massive high up at EA or Square-Enix to even have a single clue as to what this is. Now to wait for Nintendo's reveal like a sensible person.

Re: Rumour: New Nintendo NX Controller Images Surface and Set the Web Alight

Shinion

I don't get these random pictures of these things at all. If the guy's got his hands on the genuine NX then why doesn't he take a picture of the console as well? Or even show it playing games? From the little we can see of the environment it doesn't look as if he's being closely supervised and these are ninja snaps, so why stop with only two pictures of the controller if he's got the console in his own property and is willing to leak pictures on the Internet?

Seems dumb to me.

Re: Popular Super Mario Maker Speedrunner and Streamer Has All His Levels Deleted by Nintendo

Shinion

@readyletsgo why the 80s? Why not the 90s, is that not hammering the point home hard enough? And are the 70s not factually correct in this instance, as Nintendo wasn't making videogames in the 70s? I mean, we're talking about an online game so I'd imagine that the relevance of getting it factually right when they were making arcade games doesn't matter too much considering how evolved Super Mario Maker is from Donkey Kong.

How about saying the Stone Age? That's grade A hyperbole that is 100% guaranteed to get your point across. Here I'll start for you:

Get out of the Stone Age Nintendo!

Re: Scribblenauts Studio 5th Cell Is Closing Its Doors

Shinion

@Dankykong at least they had a genuinely innovative and unique idea to begin with and weren't afraid to create and release it in this most toxic of industries, unlike the dozens of focus tested on 12 year old boys COD clones that have polluted the market in the same time frame.

Moving on from cheap and unsubstantiated shots at other peoples' expense this is a true shame, as it always is. Studios like this, Cing, Lionhead, Maxis and others deserve better than the fate that befell them.

Re: Pokkén Tournament Has a Super Effective Launch in the UK Charts

Shinion

Great game, it'd have to be to hold my attention for more than 5 button mashing matches which is what has been the extent of my experience with every fighting game I've played so far besides this and Smash. Must've played 100+ matches already and am unable to put it down without playing at leas a dozen more each time.

Re: Zero Time Dilemma Launches on 28th June in North America and Europe

Shinion

@Zanark it probably won't be full price, VLR wasn't I don't think and neither was Ace Attorney Dual Destinies despite the fact both had more than enough content to justify a much higher price tag. I don't mind this at all, as going back a year or two to when I finished VLR the series was MIA so I am A-OK with this caveat for the finale to exist.

Re: Twilight Princess HD Holds Top 10 Place in UK Charts

Shinion

@Peach64 that would be me. There's kinda a big difference between a cheap remaster on a 'dead' console where there is "little else to buy" and a big new entry in a longstanding 'AAA' series. I'm sure that stern questions are being asked at Capcom about SFV performance whereas TPHD was a success in its first week alone.

Re: Nintendo Download: 17th March (Europe)

Shinion

@heathenmagic it is very, very good. The trilogy is more than worth £15 of anyone's money as long as they're willing to stick with it.

For people interested in Pokken, both The Game Collection and Simply Games have it available to pre-order for £38, and it being the first print means it comes with the Shadow Mewtwo amiibo card. That's what I got, I think it's a good deal.

Re: Impressive Fire Emblem Fates Sales Ensure It Makes an Impact on US Charts

Shinion

@IceClimbers it also had a virtually unprecedented 86% drop in sales from its debut week to its second week in the UK, and from what I hear it didn't do well either in Japan. This hopefully means that publishers like Capcom will learn from this and stop taking us for granted that they can release borderline early access games and we'll just buy them on name alone regardless, though given Capcom's history they're more likely to give up trying entirely if Resident Evil 6 taught us anything, especially considering this game needed outside funding from Sony in the first place.

I do not see this game having much longevity either as its peek on Steam borders regularly on 5k or worse and console owners have never been known to support a model like this, they'll just buy the next shiny new overhyped thingy they see advertised on TV and Street Fighter V will be lucky to get success in the pre-owned market, let alone strong sales new in 5-6 months.

Capcom's biggest flop ever? Might well be, considering Resident Evil 6 sold like 7-8 million and was deemed disappointing. This game probably will sell a quarter of that. Ouchie.

Re: Super Mario Maker and Splatoon Pick Up BAFTA Game Awards Nominations

Shinion

The article is slightly incorrect. The absolute 100% guarantee of these 'awards' was that there was never- ever- going to be a 3DS nomination. In the eyes of the people who decide these 'awards' the 3DS doesn't exist. It hasn't got a single nomination for the past 3 years- including 2013 when Fire Emblem Awakening, Animal Crossing New Leaf, Pokemon X/Y, Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon among others were all shafted in favour of mobile ports/spin-offs of 'proper' console games.

In short, these awards are a joke. J-O-K-E. Suitable to being hosted by a comedian, they should not be taken seriously by anyone who knows this industry.
