@Bunkerneath It's just you. FAST plays nothing like WipEout. It is also not a F-Zero clone. FAST is pretty much it's own thing and that's great. I hope they are working on "FAST Racing 3" for NX already.
I don't like EA for too many reasons that I cannot be bothered to explain. I haven't bought EA games in many years. I won't be missing EA in the slightest, but Nintendo needs them. They have a hold of sports games and Star Wars and no console should just get by without them. Nintendo needs EA. EA does not need Nintendo. So Kimishima will have to sort it out somehow. Gracefully and pragmatically so.
I'm tempted by Pokémon Snap, overall it's a good week, but I must ask:
Where the heck are the Turbografx games? Konami released 3 games like a month ago and then what, they close shop? I want more of them!
@Sakura I agree with what you say. To me, if this Tegra rumours are true at all, then the hybrid will have a Soc (system on a chip) on the handheld that works stand-alone OR in conjunction with the docking station, which could very well feature a dedicated Nvidia GPU and even extra RAM to boost the overall performance at home, connected to the TV.
If the processing is done only on the handheld SoC, I wouldn't call it an hybrid console, just an handheld that can be connected to a TV (PS Vita can already do this, I believe?). So a true hybrid system would connect at home for improved perfomance, let's just imagine a highly-customised Tegra X1 (I don't think X2 is in Nintendo's price range, unless Nvidia is really keen to ship it to the wild on the console arena and does a generous discount), i.e., a Tegra "X1.5" that can deliver Wii U level of performance on the go, and connected to a dock with a dedicated video card that would push to parity with Xbox One.
Put that in a box priced around € 299 and I'll be genuinely excited.
A few months ago, I waited for a retail edition of FAST but it seemed like it would never come, so I bit the bullet and bought digital. I don´t like digital, not really.
I had no idea that there was DLC coming, I might even be crazy enough to buy the same game twice if this retail release is reasonably priced.
Count me Turbo-hyped for Turbografx games! I had already lost hope on Wii U VC, but will be downloading New Adventure Island and Bonk's Adventure. I hope Bonk's Revenge is added soon, I want to upgrade that one too.
@TearTheRoofOff They also sponsored Euro 2016 and I think they're regulars at the football World Cup.
It wouldn't be a bad thing if McDonalds and Nintendo extended the partnership out of Japan. There's virtually a McDonalds restaurant on every small town on the planet, they're that widespread.
@smashbrolink People on the US tends to underestimate the importance of foreign events on the world. Brexit means that the UK, one of the world's largest economies, a nuclear power and a permanent seat at UN security council has left a 500+ million people political and economical bloc that also includes world powers like France and Germany. So, it's pretty major news regardless of where you live.
@Alobeidt If your queen did such a thing, you could no longer call your country a democracy. The people have made a choice, no matter how ill-advised you and I may think it is, it is their sovereign choice. It is the price to pay for democracy, sometimes the people don't have a clue about what they need. It is ironic how "What is the EU?" became one of most searched queries on Google a day after the referendum. The queen only plays a ceremonial role and doesn't meddle in politics. The moment she started doing so, she would lose popular support one way or the other.
@WinterWarm They really weren't paying too much. Norway, which has a special deal with the EU for trade (and trade alone, no financial transactions nor services), pays twice as much per head than Britain. Plus, Norway cannot vote on EU rulings and has to accept the free movement of people from EU.
Switzerland has a similar agreement. Also has to accept EU citizens.
Are those the kind of deals Farage and Johnson promised Brits that would be so much better than membership? Quid pro quo, one cannot expect the EU to give you everything you want, and give them nothing in return.
This seems to be just the change in direction the series needed. I see all kinds of inspiration here from The Elder Scrolls to Xenoblade.
There's some rough textures here and there, but at least I know I'm looking at a Wii U build, and not a NX one.
I'm assuming the voice is Princess Zelda's.
I don't think VR is going to hit the mainstream audience. It's expensive and alienating. The major problem is that people will look like total dorks with VR headsets strapped on their faces. I know I don't want it, I like sharing my game with other people across the room.
Nintendo doesn't need to go after that market, it is a market that has nothing to do with them outside the failed Virtual Boy experiment (and even on that one, you could argue that the key point for Nintendo was stereoscopic 3D and not the first-person experience). Nintendo already achieved stereo 3D without goggles.
Whether Emily is in the know or not, this whole rumour mill is starting to do more harm than good by now. E3 should be the place where Nintendo started to give some solid information about NX and dismiss some of the outlandish rumours, instead they decided to flood it with Zelda Wii U, which by the way is also releasing a presumably superior version on that system Nintendo refuses to tell us about. It's maddening.
I don't have a 3DS but bought the $13 pack mainly for Freedom Planet and Citizens of Earth and gave the 3DS codes to my cousin. He was so happy to have brand new games to play just out of the blue and we're playing Shantae side by side. I would never get Shantae or Affordable Space Adventures at regular sales, but I'm positively surprised by those games. ASA makes remarkable use of the GamePad and it's even in freakin' Portuguese, my mother tongue. Wow, just shear wow.
The discounts so far are mediocre really. I only have a Wii U and I prefer physical over digital on retail games, so while I do buy eShop games now and then, I'm not reaching 100 gold points any time soon. Not in six months. Also, Miitomo is not available in my country, so I get no points from there. I hope Nx retail games come with codes for MyNintendo like Club Nintendo did. Otherwise, they'll be screwing over about half of their user base, the one that prefers physical format. And I sincerely hope Nx is not a digital distribution only platform, one would figure that Nintendo wouldn't be mad enough to do it, but I don't know what to expect from them anymore. If it is, though, I'm officially out.
@zool A Mario game and a couple other Nintendo games? Leave it to the third parties to fill the gaps, you say? That was the Wii U launch window in a nutshell. Nintendo should not make the same mistakes again. There are plenty of different ones to be made. =p
If they indeed are planning a meaty launch line-up and upcoming games on the next several months, it could be a good thing to generate increasing momentum towards Christmas 2017. In the middle a good E3 2017 presentation, good buzz about the system on media and it might work out for the best. They are forfeiting the battle this year, to prepare for the bigger war to come.
Wouldn't most Mega Drive 3rd parties games that mattered be already available on SNES Virtual Console? In some cases with better graphics, colour and audio than on MD?
Seems like a sensible decision to streamline the company operations. A baseball team was a strange investment to a company like Nintendo. I'm not american, I know nothing of baseball outside of Wii Sports, but the Mariners were never that great of a team to begin with? Nintendo can make some better use of the money they'll earn with this sale, I hope they stop at nothing to make sure NX is nothing short of stellar.
It's actually a good thing that Nintendo considers Fire Emblem one of its major IPs, one that they will promote to many more eyeballs on smartphones. I don't like smartphone gaming anymore than you, folks, but we have to get used that it is now a quintessential part of the Nintendo brand promotion.
Have they stated if this mobile iteration will be free to play or a paid download?
@abe_hikura Well, I didn't remember that. But the Wii name reveal set the Web ablaze like wildfire. No one was indifferent to it, and Nintendo was fully aware of that, those times Nintendo marketing chiefs surely knew how to get the attention, so it made sense that Nintendo wanted people to have time to process it ahead of E3.
@johnodaz I'd wager they will announce "new hardware" will be released on the current fiscal year with which they hope will bring back the "Nintendo-like profits". That could mean any time this year to March 2017.
And that's what everyone was already expecting. Nothing major out of it.
This is a financial briefing to the shareholders, so expect lots of figures and charts and not to many clues about what products will be on consumers shelves soon.
Nintendo will not be communicating Directly to us, the fans, tomorrow.
@the-madprofessor Nooooo....The rumour mill is becoming unbearable each passing week. For a brand many said was becoming irrelevant in home consoles, it has garnered the attention of everyone, enough to spread false rumours and elaborate hoaxes, at least. My Nintendo fan heart can only take so much salt with every speculative dribble.
