Super Mario 64 was also my first true 3D game experience. Nothing felt more revolutionary than Mario doing acrobatic moves roaming freely around the castle. Jaw-dropping.
I'm tempted to buy this classic gem, but I don't think I'll make use of the discount. Mario Kart 8 is a game that must be spinning around in my disc drive. Physical 4 Life, Baby.
Mother 3 would have been glorious in 3D. Such a shame, the N64 was in dire need of RPGs at the time, this could have made a world of difference if released.
A new Metroid, the return of Diddy Kong Racing (don't even know if that's possible because of Rare characters), or their own IP. They had amazing ideias for new IP back on GCN that were cancelled in favour of Metroid Prime. Whatever it is, since it's been worked on since November, we'll get a glimpse of it at E3.
I'd love to try Mario Pinball too. I hope all this announced releases mean we're going to have more than one VC game per week at last. Begone, drip-feeding!
The first Nintendo DS game with Wi-Fi capabilities came in 2005. The first Wii game with Wi-Fi capabilities came in 2007. So, that's almost 9 years for DS and 7 for Wii. They've had a pretty good run. Why are people freaking out on this? And more interestingly why do I feel that the people complaining the most about it's demise, are the people who always hated on Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection to begin with?
I expect when all five sports are released, they release a disc version of Wii Sports Club, and maybe put it in some Basic Packs with Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuk to move them. They'll have to get rid of the Basic eventually to focus on the 32 GB model and this could be the best way to give the console a boost and get rid of unwanted stock. Then, hopefully, we might start seeing some 64 GB models.
Virtua Fighter is my best recollection of the SEGA Saturn. Saturn would be awesome on Wii U VC. I missed quite some of its gems. I only played Saturn long past it's tenure, borrowed from a friend, after experiencing far better graphics on the Nintendo 64 and the Dreamcast, Saturn designated successor. I found the "blocky cubes" graphics quite cute. I didn't know much about these technicalities, just enjoyed the games.
@URAmk2 So, you take the word of Ubisoft, who is trying to sell you the game (no conflict of interest whatsoever, lol) as gospel, and disregard the presumably unbiased critics, in this case, Digital Foundry? Ok, then. Nice to meet you. I have a bridge you'll want to buy.
@ferthepoet They are indeed better on Wii U, thanks to the larger screen size, the precision of the stylus and the multiplayer co-op with friends which is the way these levels truly shine.
€35 is not too much of a deal. I can track down a retail copy cheaper than that if I really wanted it. The timing of it, to coincide with the Winter Olympics starting this Saturday is well thought, but the price is still way too high.
The more the merrier for Wii U at this point, but yeah, not my cup of tea. A confirmation of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate on Wii U would make me far happier.
I don't recall ever buying a DLC. I'm sorry if I'm not the idiotic consumer you'd like me to be, WB, but I just can't see the value on these things. I like to pay just once for my games.
Last year Iwata promised us N64 and GBA on Wii U VC. This year he promisses us DS, which is fine and dandy, but still no word on N64 and GBA.
I really like Satoru Iwata, but he needs to start delivering stuff before making more hollow promises.
Also, on 3DS you can play the original DS carts so I don't see the appeal of having it there. Physical for life, baby! You're better off that way, so many great DS games that will not make the cut for Wii U and you can buy cheap for your handheld. GBA, on another hand should really be available on 3DS eShop. With Wii U cross-buy, Iwata.
I wouldn't put much hope on Pokémon games on Virtual Console. None of the Game Boy games made it to the 3DS. Nintendo seems to be reluctant in selling us what would be a single-player only experience of Pokémon without the possibility to connect to friends. What I would like them to do at least on 3DS is to do like SEGA and make wireless conectivity do the job of the Link cable.
This is like asking if the Wii would have been a success without the Wii Remote. I wasn't too fond of the GamePad too till I spent some time playing with it. Now, I love this controller. Playing is believing people, give it a week in your household and tell me you want to go back.
I love Ubisoft. They're currently my favourite 3rd party and I appreciate the effort they've been putting on Wii U games. I love ZombiU and Rayman Legends. I actually wasn't mad at them for delaying Rayman Legends, as long as I could play it on the original console it was intended, which I did. I understand that from a business standpoint they may want to refrain from further releases on Wii U. I just don't understand that they cancel a game they announced for a specific platform months ago. I view an announcement as a commitment by the publisher, and it has to deliver on it's word. Otherwise, were talking about lying to their costumers, which I do not take kindly. I am sooo unreasonable, right.
Is EA making any games for Nintendo consoles? I mean, I know they're not making anything for Wii U, are there any games from them for 3DS at least? What is this great business relationship if they don't bother releasing their products on any Nintendo platform?
I want to play this game. Ubisoft has been one of my favourite developers on Wii U, Rayman Legends and ZombiU are amazing games.
I'm fine if they don't want to bring future unannounced titles to the Wii U, but this one was confirmed time and time again. They created expectations. Hope this isn't true, if it is though, I won't ever buy anything made by Ubisoft. Ever.
I remember playing this game for free on my web browser. It was a showcase of Internet Explorer HTML5 capabilities. I remember playing Angry Birds for free on my web browser, too. It was a showcase for Chrome Web Apps. So, why on God's green earth would I pay full price for something that is free?
On GameCube I've picked up Starfox Adventures again, let's see it I complete it this time after all these years. On Wii U, I'm half-way through the majestic Rayman Legends and just picked up Mighty Switch Force 2 on eShop.
I was looking to buy Pikmin 3, but as pointed out it has jumped back to £39.99. Wonderful 101 is massive, I don't think I have enough storage for it on my Wii U, so I'll have to get it physical. I'm feeling blue, now...
@Technosphile Same thing happened to me with Dr. Mario & Germ Buster for Wiiware. I ran in fear of the online of that game, always some Japanese women would crush me in a mater of seconds. I see no reason to justify the price tag of this new re-hash really.
@Shiryu Vigilante 8 on the N64 was my childhood...well part of it, don't forget Mario 64 and Diddy Kong Racing. And F-Zero X, DK 64, Super Smash Bros...
Seriously, glad someone is as fond of the game as me, why on earth Activision canned the series is mind-boggling.
Get N or get out!
I'm expecting the fifth playable character of DK: Tropical Freeze to be unveiling and nothing else. You know what people, don't get your hopes way too high.
I hope the Wii U version does not disappoint. Although I'm more into arcade racers, a good simulator from time to time is something I enjoy and Nintendo consoles usually don't have them.
Also, great to have Renault. The original Alpine is one of my favourite classic cars. Clio II V6 was a great little machine on SEGA GT, though we'll have to accommodate with it's designated successor, Clio IV, this time.
Nintendo trolled the VGX and rightfully so. The whole thing was so boring and blatantly unprofessional. I'm glad they didn't drop their pearls before swine.
DK is great, but we were spoiled on the intel days ago, Reggie. They better be gearing up for a proper Nintendo Direct this month still. Wii U needs more future prospects.
"People were playing, but not paying." This is the fundamental problem with smartphones gaming, aside from lack of quality as we are used to on our consoles/PC. People are willing to pay 0.99 cents at most. Nintendo should stay as far as possible from this market, Android/iOS are devaluing games with the freemium or 99 cents mentality.
One thing he got right: Smartglass is cumbersome. Hold your Xbox controller and your tablet while playing, will you? Companion apps, pfff. Wii U GamePad is the real deal.
Seriously had to check my calendar to see if this isn't April 1st. Oh well, a perfect spying drone, a bird killer, an aesthetical nuisance on the cityscape, a potential danger for manned aircrafts and something to enlarge the unemployment queue with Post Office and delivery companies workers. Guess that's progress for you.
Guess most people just don't bother with reading reviews and buy the hype. When Knack, a game with pretty graphics and broken, shallow gameplay outsells the work of art that is Super Mario 3D World, you know the industry is going down the drain. Quick to the bunker, bring all the Nintendo supplies you can!
@Sidewinder "The turnaround is puzzling — especially when you consider that both features were penned by the same person: Sam Mattera." You could at least read the article Damien wrote before commenting.
Quelle surprise, state anything and it's opposite, so you can always claim to be right. Nintendo will be fine and dandy, as far as I'm concerned, just let the dust of new console launches settle. It's not the first newspiece I read talking about Microsoft wanting to sell the Xbox brand. They have buried a monumental amount of cash on Xbox since 2001 and I guess they're not even near to break even in spite of all the paywalls of Xbox Live, so even a behemoth like Microsoft could loose it's patience. I always felt like they don't belong in the gaming scene. The whole concept of One trying to be way more than a games console, screams impatience to me. Who would buy Xbox, though?
@Doma Oh really? And I think that Sony should discontinue the Vita, and become a third party developer for Nintendo 3DS.
You people continue to churn out the same non-sense. Going third-party takes an irreversible toll on a company reputation. And Nintendo is not in the same position as SEGA, it can very well afford the luxury of having an unprofitable home console. And given the company firm stance over the years on this, Nintendo would rather go bankrupt than develop for other consoles. They never give up, and they still have plenty of chips to play, because fortunately they are always very cautious on their endeavours, unlike their competitors who seems to enjoy wasting billions over the years. It's better to live to fight another day.

Not that big of a difference to me either. If anything, your video just shows how unbelievably good Galaxy already looks at 480p. It's almost HD.
