@OorWullie @DanteSolablood I'd guess they're just not in production (enough) to be ready for the launch on July 21st, but yes, that would be logical (and great).
@Angelic_Lapras_King I'm not sure if the portal was a problem too in terms of a Switch version. I remember discussing that with @rjejr It would be very difficult to play as a portable, but they could implement a software solution or just make it a dock-only game.
Looks as if it's not making enough money, the amount that consumers will spend not keeping pace with the ambition of the game. Inventory must also be hard to manage. If they make a Switch version, they'd surely want to be able to sell all the packs released so far and not just the more recent ones that stores are more willing to give space to.
Still a shame as parts of it are great, but Super Heroes 2 will provide some balm.
Hmm, I gave up on maths and traditional science stuff quite early, mainly focussing on language and social sciences. Computers weren't even in schools until I was nearly done there!
So having zero knowledge of any programming, this game is somewhat of a challenge now that I'm into the higher levels. I'm okay with what I compare to syntax and semantics. The logic I understand eventually, though it takes a long while in some cases. What I feel I miss is exposure to examples, which can also be an issue with certain language courses. I think that the levels are designed to build knowledge slowly, but it doesn't quite manage it perfectly. I would have liked some levels or a tutorial section where they show how to optimise code. There are also times when I think there must be simpler commands (like multiply!) so it feels like it must be based on the principles on which programming languages are based, something really high-level, as others have said here.
This is not a game for anyone not willing to put some work in if you're not already into progamming. I have to say though, that for me, this has the same compelling factor as Breath of the Wild, drawing me back to keep plugging at it. Love the variety of experience.
Apparently, it's possible to download the DLC even if you haven't purchased the game, as it's free until the 17th. Not sure why you'd want it alone or if it would be playable, but I suppose it could be downloaded for free now and saved for an eventual purchase.
I'm finding it quite heartenting that many people here prefer single-player. Not to disparage multiplayer or competitive gaming, but with the money in the online FPS/MMOs with huge microtransactions, the pressure from some quarters for all games to be like that is appreciable. Good to know there really is a market for other types of games
Competitive gaming is something I really don't enjoy that much when playing. I don't mind watching others for a little while and co-op is a bit more enticing. I've been to quite a few StreetPass events and enjoyed the company, but a variety of narrative-driven, single-player games is where it's at for me.
I do think that if Nintendo is serious, they need to get with the times and introduce a proper voice chat and good online. Crossed fingers for that as otherwise I think it will be harder to convince competitive gamers to have a go at their franchises.
Less of a rewards programme and more of a marketing tool is how I would describe MyNintendo at this point. I get that's the point of a rewards programme, but usually there's more benefit to the consumer than can be found here.
Still a tiny chance that Switch will make it better, but we've been waiting for so long, looks like the ship might have sailed already.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE I really don't know about those AAA games. It's not particularly that they couldn't be got to run on Switch, it's just that the target audience for those games will already have a PS4/Xbone if they really want them. That's 80 million people (ish). Is there really a big enough demographic left to make them worth putting on Switch?
There are some games, though, that I think could work well, especially AA games. SouthPark would be good, Tomb Raider, Id love Broken Sword games. There's a possibility of Madden and other sports franchises. I think third party is important, but not necessarily AAA that are already out on other consoles.
However, if Switch momentum keeps up, perhaps new AAA games could come. What would you like to see?
Definitely getting this. Loved fantasy Life, but lost my save somehow when I transfered from physical cartridge to digital using Nintendo's own tool. Won't use that again.
Bought FIFTEEN on N3DS. RCMADIAX gets some bad press for many of his games, but this is fine, a pleasant time-waster at a very attractive price. Loved those sliding puzzles as a kid.
I'm not sure I'd be too interested myself since I have played them all except Hyrule Warriors and even then, I had Legends on 3DS.
I don't mind ports because it gives the chance for those that missed out to play them. Also, give me a couple of years and I might find myself wanting to replay on Switch as is the case with Rayman and Lego City.
I'd be surprised to not see Smash and Mario Maker, though I feel that many deserve to be played more widely. Nintendo, if you can, bring them over, as long as it doesn't take too much time away from new development.
Spawnwave made a really good point that the money brought in by the X1 could very well lead to increased R&D into improvements in the Tegra line for gaming. Pretty obvious really, but it hadn't crossed my mind until he mentioned it
@wazlon There's a bit of a vicious circle with me and multiplayer; I don't play much so don't get any better and not being very good gives less incentive to play.
Novelty is good though. I think there's something about the way we learn that makes new experiences way deeper than what we are used to. I wonder if that accounts for a lot in gaming nostalgia.
Mario Kart and Splatoon I might not bother with because I have them on WiiU, but Arms is interesting enough for me to want to try it. Otherwise, there are so many games that there's no reason to not be picky. Indies play quite a large role because they bring so much variety to the table. I never say never though. I did like the new mode in Splatoon2.
I started out in docked mode, but switched to handheld and haven't gone back. I think it's partly out of habit for the 3DS and partly that my vision has been affected by nodular scleritis in my right eye making me psuedo-myopic so I can't see distance very well. Glasses don't correct for it yet because it's constantly changing. Hopefully it will settle. It's a bit weird having one short-sighted eye and one long-sighted eye. Anyway, handheld for me.
I think I'll pass on this since I already have enough 3DS systems. The one I like best is the small New 3DS. If ever that breaks, I might look for one of these, but otherwise, I'm sticking. Looks good though.
@rjejr I haven't gone for MK8D. I have it on WiiU and didn't really play it. I think it might be the same for Splatoon2. They're not bad games, I just find a single-player experience to be richer personally. Guess I'm bucking the trend again. I also have a PS4 now so choice is massively increased, though I haven't touched it yet because of Zelda, so I'll see whether I keep it long-term.
Hmm, I got Fates but haven't played it yet. Ought to do that before even thinking of getting Echoes, let alone the DLC.
I think we must be on the verge of getting a price hike in gaming in general. Production is becoming increasingly expensive for AAAs, so they recoup using DLC, season passes, online subscription etc. I've seen a few commentators say that dev costs are unsustainable under the current model.
Personally, that will feel like a hard sell in most cases. Time to think a bit more carefully before picking up titles. Perhaps that's why Nindies are so appealing.
I actually really liked the first Rabbids game. It was a fresh new experience on the Wii with cow throwing and plunger shooting. Have quite fond memories of Rabbids.
Looks like I'm on my own though; most people seem quite turned-off.
As ever, I'll wait for the announcements before writing it off completely. You never know.
@gortsi I was thinking, well wondering, if not having to deal with 3D might give more power for other aspects of processing. I don't know anything about these things, but will probably check out the specs/comparisons when it actually launches. Digital Foundry will probably oblige.
I'll definitely be getting this at launch. New 2DSXL, probably not, unless it has increased processing power. Even then, I like my standard size N3DS too much.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE And yet we're still holding on just in case something great comes along :_p
It does seem to be pretty clear that MyNintendo is to most people more a continuation of the mobile brand-awareness scheme than a loyalty/reward scheme. This "calendar" is rather indicative of that; it's a promotion to advertise the game's release.
I can see MyNintendo being useful for new all-digital consumers, but beyond that there isn't much to praise, even considering it is available in more countries.
To be fair, some of the rewards have been okay (Wario and LoZ theme), but it doesn't hold a candle to Club Nintendo.
As always there needs to be some definition of what exactly is meant by third party software. I actually didn't mind Yoshi's New Island or M&S Rio. Played both to completion and M&S Rio was the best in the series yet on a portable.
Chibi Robo didn't grab me though. Didn't finish it.
I'll probably end up getting this just for the amiibo. Doesn't look terrible, not epic perhaps, but willing to give it a go. I like the idea of puzzles too. I think I might enjoy it.

Re: Poll: Are You Excited About Nintendo's E3 2017 Plans?
There are some things I think we could see.
Mario/Rabbids RPG crossover project - still a rumour until official, but if real, then might we not see it?
Eternal Darkness has just had a Trademark "allowed" (whatever that means).
Retro Studio has to reveal their project at some point, this E3 could be the time.
What happened about Detective Pikachu? Is that game ever coming westwards?
Zelda DLC pack 2 could be outlined in more detail.
Surely it's time to explain and implement online, voicechat and VC. Are there are apps to go along with that like YouTube?
Indies may be showing games for multiple platforms so if early in development, they might not be in the Nintendo Spotlight, but elsewhere.
I'd be surprised if there aren't ports of Smash and Mario Maker at some point. Could they be ready for the announcement at this E3?
Splatoon 2 gets pink and green neon joy-con pack.
Lots of guesses and this is Nintendo so who knows? That's half the fun.
