Four years ago today on 3rd March 2017, the Nintendo Switch was first released across most regions worldwide.
With its monstrous sales records and incredible library of games, it's not especially easy to remember how different things were for Nintendo before the Switch's arrival. We all know the story of Switch's predecessor, the Wii U – and how, despite a strong lineup of first-party greats, it ultimately disappointed in terms of sales and third-party effort – but Nintendo's new console appears to have completely turned things around for the better.
Switch arrived in style back in March 2017, launching alongside The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – one of the finest launch titles the world has ever seen and indeed, one of the greatest games of all time according to critics. The system already had its killer app on day one, but its sales, success, and overall positivity have continued to flow ever since.
As the console reaches the "middle of its life cycle," Nintendo is confident that it'll go on to surpass the Wii. With an upcoming roster of games including The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Monster Hunter Rise, Metroid Prime 4, Splatoon 3, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, we certainly wouldn't be surprised if that were to be the case.
Have you enjoyed your time with Nintendo Switch over the last four years? Did you get yours on day one? Feel free to share your favourite Switch memories with us in the comments below.

@Anti-Matter your wish was granted! 🧚
I'd love another year like the 1st.
Botw2, odyssey2, rabbids 2 would be great this year.
Happy 4th Anniversary, Nintendo Switch ! 😀
I have prepared my drawing since yesterday.
To celebrate this special occasion Nintendo is removing all Switch consoles and the entire library of games from the market!
Hooray!
The Switch has been a massive success, and even more impressive when you look how the Wii U sold, looking forward to the second half of it's life cycle.
There is no question of it overtaking the Wii in terms of sales, the only question is where it ends up on the overall console sales list.
It's been nice having a large of chunk of the Wii U library on the Switch, hopefully Nintendo releases the rest of the games like XCX and Zelda remasters.
4 years and no game matches the value of BOTW. I think this shows how amazing BOTW is. Unfortunately, for me, it has felt like downhill since launch. Metroid Prime 4 will change that. Bring on 2024.
And what a great 4 years it's been.
Scary to think we'll be talking about the switch successor soon. Nintendo systems typically last about 5 years. Yikes that went fast!
Jesus i feel old. Botw feels like it came out last month and new years felt like a few days ago. Cheers nonetheless
Got my switch at the beginning of 2019. I am planning to probably start BOTW for the first time in the next couple weeks after wrapping up the main game in Mario 3D World and Link’s Awakening DX. The prospect of a 100+ hour main game is a bit intimidating though. The most time I have spent one one game is ~50+ hours (Ocarina Of Time, Hollow Knight, and Majora’s mask — but with over a year break in the middle of MM)
Happy birthday to my favourite console until the PS5 came out!
the switch is as old as i think the 3ds still is in my mind. and it does seem like a good timeframe to hopefully get a new revision within a year?
Time for a pro version that doesn’t feature drift controllers
I was extremely bored with gaming until the Switch came along.
Props to the hybrid for reinvigorating my love for videogames!
That was an awesome day, binging on Zelda all day (and weekend) with my wife.
crazy to believe it's been so long... here's to another 4 years and beyond!
4 years! Blimey. I've beaten about 4 Switch games in that time. Bought about another 250. Looks like I've got work to do...
Happy Switchday everybody 🎉🍾🥳
I loved all the expert analysis in the comments on here when it came out. Most of it completely wrong but enjoyable to read.
The Switch still feels pretty new to me (though I'm usually a late adopter). What a great piece of kit
So happy that the switch exists, its hard to grab some gaming time on other consoles, due to a full time job and a 1 1/2 year old
Love the games but at this point I'd love more media apps, themes, and an internet browser would be cool, also I wonder if they're going to add another system to NSO this year
hopefully botw 2 releases this year, its been a long enough gap for the game to be ready imo, considering botw only took so long because of the engine
Had a Switch since launch and I love the little hybrid. I still love the bigger cousins with the PS5 but it is the perfect console for me to tackle longer games. BOTW, Skyrim and Witcher 3 were just perfect for me. Plus, as an indie machine, I've played some bangers on the console.
The Switch for me has revitalised my desire to get fit thanks to games like Ring Fit Adventure even more so than previous attempts like Wii Fit. I now regularly work out using the Switch and am losing weight and getting fitter. I will always be grateful to Nintendo for that.
Of all systems I've ever had I've definitely gotten the most entertainment out of the Switch. Everything about it feels like it was built for my preferences (mostly). Just like what @JuiceMan_V just said my gaming prior to Switch was a lot less and almost completely on the way out of my life. The Switch completely reinvigorated my gaming like night to day
Still haven't gotten close to gathering the games I'm interested in, let alone completing the ones I have. Great system. Maybe the best.
I think if Nintendo didn't switch things up with this console, their days would be numbered.
Any chance of a price drop then? Paying £279 for a 4 year old system (that is significantly weaker than the competition) is bonkers (I have a lite already but was hoping to pick up the main model eventually when there was a good deal...)
4 years went by so quickly!
Happy Bday to Switch, the hybrid game system I always wanted. 🎂😄
Here’s hoping Nintendo keeps improving on this concept!
Perfect day to give an updated trailer for Breath if the Wild 2, and with Audio not played backwards
Edit: The Switch is my favourite console of all time. Convenience is key to this.
But Dreamcast and Amiga still have a special place for me
-insert negative comment here-
Congrats to Nintendo I guess... I just wish I was enjoying the Switch more than I am. The upcoming games listed in the article sound great until you realise that most of them don't have dates beyond "eh, they'll arrive eventually". You might get a year if your lucky but... eh.
Happy 4th anniversary to my top fave console! I remember how I finally got mine and how it felt like pure magic even on a bunch of demos (I had no funds left to allocate to actual games out the gate😄). Contrary to the fan buzz around, there was already a whole lot to look forward to, but for all my fascination and the prospects ahead, I frankly never quite imagined the size of the library I'd eventually amass on this juggernaut, nor the amount of hours I'd pour into it.
Switch continues to be a tech dream come true for me - numerous game access, experiences and memories granted, yet more still wishlisted and all the more yet to come. All of my favourite genres and most of my favourite franchises have gathered here, on top of everything I wouldn't be discovering anytime soon otherwise. Here's to a good few more years of production and many more of reaping the life cycle's insane release harvest. Thanks for everything!
I remember 3/3/17 well. I walked into Game before work and happily picked up my Wii U copy of Breath of the Wild and a Guardian amiibo. At the time this was because it felt cheaper to spend £60 on a game which by all accounts ran the same on both formats than to spend £360 so I could play it on a console which also ran 1-2-Switch, and frankly I didn't have the extra £300 at the time. Now as a switch owner, I keep toying with the idea of double-dipping for a second playthrough.
@Gamecuber
It's still considerably cheaper than the competition though. £450 for a ps5 or xbox series X so the fact it's weaker as you put it is still justified in my opinion.
I can't see them dropping the price until sales start to significantly slow down
@Gamecuber
It is only bonkers if it wasn't still selling like hotcakes.
After 35+ years of enjoying this hobby of ours, who knew the Switch would become my all-time favorite platform? I didn't see it coming, that's for sure. Switch > Neo Geo > PS1 > SNES > 360 in case you were wondering.
This time 4 years ago I was waiting, anxiously...
Switch is the first console to have Star Fox, Stunt Race FX, Hollow Knight, all the Dooms and Breath of the Wild on it. All on the telly or on the go.
Of course it is the best console I have owned to date!
Four years of nonstop fun! This has been my go to system without fail and is now sporting my largest game library. The hybrid nature and the varied library has really kept me engaged and entertained. Keep it up, Nintendo!
My favourite console of all time. Without the shadow of a doubt!
i absolutely love the BOTW box art, it looks astounding.
and my switch finally got repaired today as well, let's go.
Hopefully another 4 years left and then back to making a separate handheld and main home console
Removed - unconstructive
@jon625 It can easily be beaten in under 50 hours. The real question is should it be beaten in under 50 hours. There's just so much to explore and many ways to just get lost in the world doing whatever you want.
@TheFullAndy Where's the star fox?
@UltimateOtaku91
SNES online. I have waited years to be able to replay that game.
They need to go back to making a dedicated separate handheld, the amount of games the switch has compared to what the 3ds/wii/wiiu had combined is appalling.
Where's the yo kai watches? Fantasy life? Style boutiques? Ever oasis? Over 12 pokemon games? A tonne of mario universe games? Phoenix Wright games? Professor Laytons? Star fox? Metroids?
Next gen for Nintendo needs to bring back a seperate handheld as atm all we are getting is one good new game a month and most of them are ports
@WiltonRoots,
Can't get my head around how so many internet gaming experts of various sites were wrong about this, I mean these are dedicated gamers, with their fingers on the pulse of market trends.
As a follow up the Wii U, the Switch is nothing but a burden on my wallet... shame on Nintendo for creating such a masterpiece (excluding the 3 Pro-controllers I've gone through due to shoddy potentiometers, cloud save functionality, lack of themes / folders for the UI & the lack of varied Virtual Console titles spanning multuple systems). Always room for improvment, but a cracking little system with a great library of games.
@UltimateOtaku91
Never happening and would be a disaster.
The hybrid format has been a winner for Nintendo and the Switch brand has exploded in the last few years.
To change that would be suicide.
@UltimateOtaku91,
I doubt that will happen, and there seems to be a lot of games on the console, with more coming.
Fail to see how that would have increased with two consoles, but you know best obviously.
And I’m aware it’s four years every time the fan in my Switch starts like an angle grinder. Saying that, I’ve probably played more hours on my Switch than the PS1, 2, and 4 combined.
@UltimateOtaku91 Yokai watch is supposedly still coming, but Level 5 are stripping back their stuff for the West so doubt there will be any more Layton or Fantasy Life. Phoenix Wright is Capcom so not really down to Nintendo. Barely anyone wants Star Fox anymore after all the shoddy sequels and questionable control schemes. With regards to Mario, we have tennis, golf, Paper Mario, Mario Party, all the ports from Wii U plus Odyssey so they've got enough in my opinion
Edit: I forgot Mario Maker, Mario Kart / Mario Kart Live, Mario & Sonic Olympics, the 3D collection, the Mario games from NES / SNES, the short lived Mario Bros 35 & Mario Rabbids
@UltimateOtaku91
Given their previous inability to successfully support two systems, I think that would be a terrible idea personally.
Breath of the Wild was released four years ago today? Wow. Time sure does fly. Fantastic game, and it certainly made the Wii U go out with a bang for me.
Its on 80 million now so itll outsell the Wii after this Xmas and then the PS4 by Xmas 2022 making it the 3rd best selling dedicated videogame hardware of all time. 2023 would be a good time for its follow up. With 3 more years of strong 1st party support, a meaningful price cut and no follow up till 2024 however, it stands a chance of reaching DS levels.
@electrolite77 the 3ds had an absolute tonne of games and that was whilst Nintendo was also making games for the wii and wiiU
@UltimateOtaku91
The Wii U struggled when they were supporting 3DS. Gamecube struggled while they were supporting GBA. They don’t have the resources to support both, especially in the era of HD/4K development. A Nintendo home-only system would be a flop. They have a successful system with tons of software and the USP of convenience. Going back to trying to support two systems makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
And all the NintenDoomed fandom predictions have come true it has become a universal Gaming console unrivaled by the likes of xbox or psX in terms of sales and staying power. In only 4 years have broken records taking system lifespan to even come close to those number in less time. And yet here we still have NintenDoomed fandom saying they should make a coffee table Switch. They must be drinking koolaid into the night here.
Best console of all time, there, I've said it
As a casual PC gamer for my whole adult life (the last console I played a brunch was the N64) when I saw the switch reveal I literally went on FB to post a "shut up and take my money" meme... At the time I was not sure I was going to buy it and I also never heard of the Wii U. But I ended up buying it day one and now I am 130+ games in on top of a collection of Wii, GC, ,3ds, ds and GBA and a new gaming PC...
My favorite console of all time that restarted my love for gaming.
I wonder what impact the Switch will have on the future of video games. With its success, it has to have some impact.
@Anti-Matter Are you sure you drew that, I don't see any abs. 😉 Just kidding, I dig it. 😎
4 years, guess we should give up on folders and themes then, huh? 😝
I've purchased my Nintendo Switch on Day 1! Still enjoying it! Definitely my Favorite Console of all time!
@GKO900 If you're wishing for a device that doesn't had drift control issues then you will sadly be disappointed as almost everything in this tech driven world nowadays drift: PS5 controller, Xbox One controller, Switch joycons, PC mouse, everything. Just the other day I had to replaced my mouse on my PC cause the cursor kept moving by itself even when my mouse is on stand still. This is literally the third mouse I had to replace this year and it's only early March. The more features our device and controller had, the more issues/defects it will contain and drift issue is one of them.
@Bl4ckb100d so far
@rjejr
I disguised as Ninja for 4th Anniversary.
I got the idea from Beatmania IIDX 24 sinobuz.
@Anti-Matter @nhSnork
Thanks for the art!
-Anti-Matter due to covid we’re all ninjas now? Sry if It’s a ref I’m missing.
Love how the fruit wants to be like you bc you’re so cool! Very bubble bobble.
-nhSnork those bangs are def my good hair day vs. Just in my eyes (Songbird Serenade)
Must try those highlights!
No fancy photo with all my game cartridges this year (putting 470 cartridges aside is way too much hard work for this NL staffer) so here is an artistic image instead with a reminder that life was so much simpler merely 4 years ago. Seize the day, gang!
@Dr_G_Lemaitre
Thank you. 😀
I got the idea from the pandemic so i made something stylish but still covering the nose and mouth.
While my first physical game was ARMS, my first games were all ACA NEOGEO titles from my JP account because I couldn't wait. I did buy BotW, but for the WiiU.
After getting hands-on with the Switch at the invite event, I knew it was going to be hot. At the very beginning it was a little slow getting games, but now we're past that. Not every game coming out is by Nintendo, but that's actually not a bad thing. The WiiU never had the 3rd party support that the Switch is enjoying right now. So let's not take that away from the Switch's succes.
@UltimateOtaku91 More than half of the games you mentioned came out after the 3DS was 4 years old. And most of the Phoenix Wright games came out on GBA(1-3 in Japan) or ported to DS first. Even if they're not the games you're looking for, there are still more than a ton of games that have been released on the Switch, physically and digitally, by the big publishers and indies. Sure, the Swich has been playing catch-up with all the ports, but at least games are coming. Let's wait and see what the Switch's mid-life cycle brings.
@Anti-Matter I do like me some ninjas.
Well eventually this pandemic will be behind us and we can all go maskless, and shirtless, again. 😁
@rjejr
Between the fan art & system folders you must be quite a smart person ... computational algorithms agree, thinking like me means people must be smart!
@Anti-Matter
It’s good helping us all smile through this- and full circle ... those Beatmania [...] food-critters are homeless without any folders!
“Finally my time to serve is here” -Wii U (with dozens of folders rescues Switch by porting each folder for only 9.99 )
@Dr_G_Lemaitre disclaimer: the art in my post isn't mine (I don't usually draw, so even what skills I got at school have long deflated to pre-toddler levels). Switch-chan, like many other hardware humanizations, is by Merryweather Comics.
@JustMe i felt like it would never end
just a general thought, but i like the persona banners currently up. awesome game!
The best 4 years of Nintendo fandom!
8 more years! (At least!..)
I didn't get a Switch day one mainly because after the Wii U I was hesitant before I saw all of what the Switch could do, once I had it in my hands I fell in love with it and I still play it almost every day, the library is insane and it just keeps getting better with each year, unless the next system Nintendo makes is radically different, which I don't want, I can't see myself needing another system for a long time
After the failure of the Wii U, I admit I was super skeptical when the Switch launched. I still bought it at launch, as I did the Wii U, but I was very pessimistic about its potential for sales numbers. Never have I enjoyed being proven wrong so much!
@johnvboy These were some of the best, compiled by @gortsi to get round stealth editing: https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2017/11/switch_and_nintendo_systems_dominated_us_hardware_sales_in_october#comment4222664
I've had my Switch since October 2017, I don't play games anywhere near as much as some people in here, but the time I've had with this lil machine has been fantastic. I love the stripped back no nonsense, no bloat vibe to it, it's just a plug and play console.
I love having all those old NES/SNES games at my fingertips, the arcade shooters, the Capcom collections, Zelda BOTW, Odyssey, Dragon Quest XI, Luigi's Mansion, Grid, Pure Pool, Smash, Okami HD and many more...not counting the stuff I still haven't bought in my wish list over the years that are waiting for me, and of course the games to come. I'm more than happy.
And in 4 years they havent done a single update to the OS despite people wanting it. And in true Nintendo fashion they have sqandered potential such as N64 game, a proper NES and SENS Library and even Gamecube.
Still no folders, still a theme section with just black and white, still no party functionlity when other system have had that for about 15 years.
@WiltonRoots,
Same here, nice easy interface that's quick, wink wink Wii U !!, and a perfect machine for Nintendo's first party games, If I want third party I will play them on my Xbox One.
My favorite Nintendo console, with much more to come.
@earthinheritor,
I do wonder, outside of the core minorities who actually wants or even needs these features, it's simplicity is a big part of it's charm for the mass Switch buying market.
Have to admit, I was one of those who didn’t think it would do this well. I loved the concept but thought 70 million would be a great result. I didn’t know if the initial software slate was strong enough, whether third party support would come, or if they’d kill off the 3DS quickly enough to not get distracted. Wrong on all counts.
In terms of games I’ve played, amount of time spent, variety of content, and the way it fits into my life, possibly my favourite Console ever. Getting close to the PS2 now which I never thought I’d see.
@WiltonRoots,
I wonder what happened to gatorboi352, he was always suggesting the Switch sales were going to fall off a cliff, in the end he just had to close the door, and has probably created a new account.
@johnvboy It was very hard to come back from that. He did a brief stint under another name then vanished. I would hope that he's living a happy life in Pure Xbox playing Far Cry 5 on his big telly. I love it when people tell us about the size of their TVs, like people really care or are impressed.
My favorite gaming system ever..
@WiltonRoots,
My projection screen is massive, hope this impresses you.
@WiltonRoots
I am rocking a Panasonic plasma TV, the size doesn't matter (43 inch) the important bit is I laugh at all the poor fools with LCD/LED, even a lot of OLEDs, with their awful/inadequate motion resolution!
HAHA I say!
feels like months ago
I've had my Switch for a little over a year and will likely be playing it for many years after it's considered "retro". There are plenty of game genres and franchises on offer; anyone who complains thst the system "has no games" by this point is either WAY too picky or is a troll.
Some of the best four years of my life. It’s been amazing so far, and I look forward to everything coming in the future.
@TheFullAndy If only they could see how much you're pointing and laughing at them! Mere peasants. Curious to see how this comment section unfolds and whether it's bingo card worthy. I shall check back in a bit.
@WiltonRoots
I am just waiting for Michellelynn/NGNYS or one of their alts to come in with their never ending posts with randomly capitalised words lol
The other end of the spectrum from the overly anti-Nintendo folks.
@TheFullAndy Or of course the dude who goes on about hacking non stop. He's great.
Such an incredible system for me. Not only getting high profile 1st titles like Botw, Odyssey, Smash Ultimate, FE3H and Animal Crossing etc.,but having access to high profile console ports on a handheld system has been a dream for me.
I know people always scoff at ports, but man, being able to play games like Doom, Skyrim, Witcher 3, the bioshock trilogy, borderlands trilogy etc., most of which I never played on the go is fantastic. In that regard, the Switch really makes up for what the PS Vita never did.
@TheFullAndy,
I have a 43 inch Panasonic LCD in the living room, has an awesome game mode on it, not even 4k..., but those plasma tv's were pretty good, remember those Pioneer Kuro sets, just awesome black levels.
I thought it would have lifetime sales of anywhere from 40MM. to about what the 3ds did. It is good to see Nintendo not only get back on its feet, but thrive.
@johnvboy
4K is for suckers anyway! My plasma is only 720p but I get brilliant natural looking black levels and the images in motion aren't a blurry mess!
Seriously though I will upgrade to 4K eventually when the plasma dies but I won't go back to LCD or LED again, so it will need to be OLED which in theory should be better or match Plasma in black levels and motion.
Will be a sad day when the plasma dies though, served me well.
@WiltonRoots
But Nintendo followed them around!!
@jon625 Don’t be intimidated. Breath of the Wild is only 100+ hours long if you want to 100% it. I think I beat it in about 40, then kept playing until like 65 hours or so.
@Marios-love-child I get what you’re saying but an Xbox Series S is £20 cheaper (if you can find one) and is a heck of a lot more bang for your buck, especially with Gamepass. No good if you want Mario/ Zelda though 😁
@TheFullAndy
Peasant scientist maiden thankful you think of me amid ye merriment kind prince Andrew the fullness of yore
Thanks for the screen info (incase i can ever use it as people sell/trash for 4k hype) Is input lag low on those? I’m so sensitive my 3ds seems laggy.
@TheFullAndy you’re absolutely right; from a business point of view if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. People are still willing to pay the original price it seems so there is no motivation to change it. However, as much as I love Nintendo, everything in this generation just costs so much! I have always been able to get a good deal on their systems in the past (and to be fair I got a good deal on my Switch Lite) but not even a pack in game as standard whilst maintaining the same price puts me off upgrading, even though I could afford to 😕
@Dr_G_Lemaitre
Your praise is accepted!
Input lag on the plasma? I have never had issues, everything feels razer sharp. There is a game mode but I have never felt the need to use it.
Plasma TVs really are brilliant and a lot of people still swear by them even when compared to top of the line OLED TVs. Of course the problem is plasma tvs are no longer being made so you would probably have to pay a pretty penny to get one these days especially new and unused.
@Ghost_of_Hasashi Well with that kind of mentality no wonder why after 4 years we still have the same problem, you are basically saying get used to it, and yeah I understand that nothing is perfect but if feels like 1 out of 5 are defective compared to PS5 which is hard to tell since only scalpers have the console and they just got the message that they need to fix the issue so for now it’s only a matter of waiting for a fix if it’s really that bad and I haven’t heard any complaints for Xbox
@Gamecuber
I imagine when the "Pro" version comes out, and I believe it will in the next year, the existing model will see a modest price drop probably down to £230 to £250 so you may be in luck then.
From my point of view the system is absolutely worth the price it sells for now but you have to trust your own gut.
@WiltonRoots man what a wild ride that post was, reading it today is probably funnier than it ever was. At least one or two of those were disappointed Nintendo fans being salty, these days all we get is Agramonte telling us what he likes to play AT HOME and ON THE GO and how the PS4 is the best console ever
@rjejr
Great idea!!!
I missed your celebration sans masks & shirts posts. Though hardest on @anti-matter, great idea making it for “ all! “ hey it can be like Mardi Gras - I’ll just tell anyone gawking to throw money if they don’t have beads... Switches for everybody!!!
Nintendo Switch is a prime example of how successful a console can become if everything is done right. In this regard, Nintendo apparently needed the Wii U to flop to learn from the mistakes and deliver a blast in the next iteration. When it comes to me, the Switch can easily exist for another four years - I don't feel a need for a new console. The only thing that would make the Switch complete is a larger selection of titles in the VC and the availability of N64 games. This is where the Wii still beats Switch.
@Dr_G_Lemaitre I'm too old for this. 😉
Were unable to get the Switch day one, but I think I got it in late May or early June. Lots of great games on the console, one worth mentioning is Senran Kagura reglexions. Fantastic game if you like any of the girls.
I bought my Switch Lite last year around this time aaand.. It just so happens my full fat Switch was delivered today!! Spooky coincidence 😁
Hands up who's still using their original Joy-con??
some will say it was always like that, but unfortunately for me it is enough. huge disappointment with nintendo: high prices for old games, for new games, for everything. Few releases, and everything that has appeared in a year or so seems made in any way, without innovation. it seems that the focus is now a lot of distraction, useless knick-knacks and a constant appeal to nostalgia to take money in all forms. Sad. enough of nintendo for me.
Feels like it's only been about 2-3 years as I've barely touched my switch since FE. Hope the next 4 years has more than 6 or 7 titles worth coughing up $60 for
Four years, and four Switches later (OG switch, Pikachu let's go edition, MH edition & switch Lite), I split my time between the backlog of Switch games and PC gaming. Just finished Age of Calamity and debating whether to start Animal Crossing, Hollow Knight of Xenoblade Chronicles DE.
I still remember the ‘reveal’ by Nintendo when they showed all the third party and AAA studios who had signed up to make for the Switch. Followed by the scepticism about whether any of these companies would actually follow through and design for a post- Wii U system. My how times have changed....:
Nintendo came up with a brilliant design that has mass appeal, it brought gaming to a while new generation of gamers and to people that had fallen out of gaming. My family have had many many hours enjoying the switch and some amazing games. I even talked a mate into getting one for his family. But for me the last year has seen my enthusiasm for the console slip quite a bit. In the first 3 years I bought over 70 games for the machine, but in 2020 i only bought 2, animal crossing and my eldest wanted among us. Yeah the PS5 is taking up more of my time but I hope Nintendo brings out some brilliant games this next year or two.
@rjejr
Oops Yeah typo-
In case it was confusing: i was saying if we “all go shirtless” my lady bits may get a bit of a reaction.
Most clearly-
Scientific hypothesis: Mean Positive Reaction (MPR) is directly proportional to angular displacement of areola exposure (radially outward) and mass of adipose tissue proximal to mammary gland but inverse to subject’s BMI.....
@Dr_G_Lemaitre Yeah sure, that cleared it all up. 😎
Sorry, I've had a chest cold since like October 2019, if I don't start breathing better soon I may need to go see a Dr. 😂
@Spoony_Tech @imgrowinglegs
Thanks for the info. I definitely plan to try to lose myself in it and get absorbed in the world and wander around. I’ve been getting a bit better about that in more exploration based games.
I think I just tend to start looking forward to the next game I want to play part way through a long game. Maybe I need to let myself pause and play something else and then come back to it when that happens. I think the actually coming back to it and getting back into it can be a bit difficult sometimes. I think I will keep some notes of things to explore which may help if I end up pausing.
My times on Zelda games tend to be longer than the how long to beat “Main + Extras” times (and I am not 100%-ing), and BOTW’s “Main + Extras” time is 96 hours. That is fine if I am able to enjoy it for that long. Maybe if I can’t it is just a sign I should take a break for a few weeks, play something else, and come back to it.
Went by in a flash. I still remember waiting at my door for the ups driver to deliver the switch and botw like a kid on day 1. It brought me back into gaming. I'm forever grateful for the switch.
4 years and the switch still feels fresh.
Spla3oon fresh
Once again, Nintendo mysteriously does not mention anything regarding the anniversary of the Switch, and more notably Breath of the Wild.
I don't understand where they're going with ignoring the Switch, but ignoring Breath of the Wild's anniversary feels like an extension to the lack of a 35th anniversary tweet for Zelda; it really feels like they're hiding something.
Switch was my favourite ever console for the first couple of years and got me back into gaming after years away.
However... it’s falling down the rankings because there’s no first party games. If it can bolster its roster it will prob hold top spot but that’s looking less likely as the years go on.
@MS7000
If you've run out of games to play, you should get Kingdoms of Amalur on March 16th. It'll keep you occupied for about 100 hours and will be your favorite game ever.
One of my fav consoles if not for the drift. Great library. Delicious indies
@gortsi Agramonte's been quiet recently too...which is bizarre because he only has two go-to posts that he keeps repeating ad nauseum. Maybe he's working on a third for 2021. All good with you mate? Grafting at home still myself...
Still don’t have one. Waiting for the price to drop first. To be honest there aren’t many Switch exclusive games I’m that bothered about. Luigi’s Mansion 3 and Odyssey are the main ones I want to play off the top of my head, but not much else. I’m quite content with my PS4 and numerous retro games and systems. I’m sure I’ll get 1 or more when my daughters get a bit older, hopefully by then they’ll have dropped the price! Not that they need to of course.
As Nintendo do - they don't follow people's preconceived notion of lifespan releases but yet here we are again. People need to stop with this notion they know more then Nintendo.
@WiltonRoots yeah it's weird how he vanished! All good man, just tired of this lockdown...
An still we have the same boring UI with QOL completely ignored, drifting to this day, no price drop in 4 years(that really is quite something, tells you how good the console really is) and a constant refusal from Nintendo to believe that problems raised about the machine (primarily the drift) are not actual issues.
Still, we love the console, an the incredible library of games it boasts, regardless of the amount of ports. Here's to another 4 years!
