Great, i was expecting somewhere this evening so that's a plus. I'll be home in 2 hours, so the countdown has begun! was excited for this such a long time, I'm glad the day has come today!
Just excellent. This made my day! All tracks look fun, even though Koopa City is not one of my favorites. We'll see how it ends up in MK8. The music is spot on as always and makes me wanna start up the game right now. These tracks and the 200cc inclusion: still the best wiiU game.
MK8 getting new suits, new tracks, new characters, new vehicles, new difficulty --> if it wasn't already, MK8 is now officially the best Mario Kart game.
This was actually the best news on the direct! Very, very excited about this, MK8 is by far the game I play most on my WiiU, and with the DLC and this news, that trend will continue. One big fat hooray for hearing this awesome news, on my birthday!
excited! For me, this might be the best game of this year! (LoZlooked really empty and not particularly epic, Xenoblade might not be my thing ) I still love playing MK8 online and I'd love another game to endlessly play online! Since I'm the only one using the WiiU, offline Multiplayer will not be missed. Dunno what to think of the lack of ofline voicechat. I understand why they chose not to do it, but this does look like a tactical game: players using Skype will probably have huge advantages.
The only people I know playing mobile games are people who aren gamers persé but just people looking for something simple and mindless: kids, women and elderly people. That seems to be the same demographic group that did buy the wii: non-gamers looking for something simple and easy and fun. So could be something...
As I had a lot of great console-gaming experiences myself (also on handheld), i can't imagine degrading back to mobile games myself.
@Artwark Buy a WiiU if you like the current catalogue. Do not buy it if you don't, because that's what you get. Seems like a really weird choice to buy something for vague future plans. You should buy it in the future if you want to know of how future plans turn out.
I won't be playing games on a phonetablet. Tried it a couple of times, was not amused. But i can imagine a lot of people do. Im just into Nintendo for their gamesconsole experience. And hope they will keep on releasing great games for consoles. The rest is off my field of focus.
The only reason I'm not annoyed for the Euopean delay is that i'm totally not interested in the game. I would love to have a Kirby platformer, but I guess I'll have to settle with the wii-VC kirby...
Sine i've seen a game being advertising with "won over 100 awards", i've realized that these kind of awards mean even less then a random opinion on an online forum....
I'm not convinced yet, knowing how publishers market games. I mean, the characters look generic, and I still have no idea what the game is all about. I like games where I can explore, but I'll doubt I finish a 300 hour game especially because it's so huge. I mean, I can't be the only one who thinks it looks really empty and wonders if playing the same game for 300 hours can still be fun. So I've got no problem with the lack of release date. Still hoping this turns out to be awesome, but right now, I'll just wait for how the game actually turns out to be.
Shantae! Not buying it though, way too expensive for for what kind of game it is. Happy to say I'm playing Metroid Prime trilogy and thus won't be downloading anything soon anyway.
@XCWarrior People care because this can have HUGE consequences. It's about Nintendo footage, so letś play videos are just 1 of the applications. Imagine this actually works: You'll not be able to view ANY professional footage or sounds: reviews, analysis, letś play, study material, and more. Nintendo is the first modern company ever to try and censor ALL forms of critique by professionals so openly. Nintendo is gonna to aprove all video items personally remember.
Hmm well that figures. Not taking on the the legal part, the cultural landscape simply does not compute with Ninty's vision. Publishers are paying lots of money to let popular Youtubers play games and Nintendo asks money for the same. Even an idiot can figure out where that leads to, regardless of what the law states (which is nothing specific at the moment).
This is an aquired taste and definitly NOT a must own game for wii/wiiU owners, due to it's somewhat weird aesthetics and explorative nature. Don't be fooled that 10 is a steal compared to disc editions. That doesn't say anything about the game itself, because collectors are silly when it comes to actual value. If you don't like getting lost and backtracking, this game will suck. I'm Guessing a lot of people will dowload this, play it for an hour or 3, conclude that it's not their thing, and then never touch it again. This is not an easy mainsteam game.
Sounds all really impressive. I'm looking forward to the reviews first though. See what's hype and what's real. "Playtime could exceed 300 hours" is also true for Tetris (or any game, actually), so that doesn't mean anything.
@Gloryquestor I find your post a bit confusing. Loyalty is compensated now, and for the next 8(!) months right? There are quite a number of options in the catalogue, for a wide variety of coins/stars, i spend all my coins on VC games for example, i could also have chosen for lots of other things, and there even will be new items added! So why does Nintendo need to do more? Seems like a really fair solution to me...
Sounds like people are just complaining that they don't want anything Nintendo offers, too bad for them, but we are talking about free stuff here as a token of graditude. Complaining about that is just acting spoiled.
I'm being conservative here by saying I like all soundstracks in the game, but I wouldn't listen to any of those seperatly. The music is made as a part of an intermedial experience, that's what makes it a good soundtrack for me. Hearing the music without playing the game is just as annoying as playing my own alarm or ringtone from CD.
@GloryQuestor @KnightRider666 Weird to think that you get a FREE giftcard (that's basically what stars/points are) and you then start demanding that whoever gave it to you has some kind responsibility or debt to endlessly extend that giftcard for you.
Announcing this 8 months in advance + a still updating catalogue seems very generous but some people always want more.
It funny how everyone here calls the game historian offended while he clearly is not. He points out a mistake made in the past. That's it.
It's also funny he points out a black mario while he sees no harm in sexualized girls in the exact next shot. and no-one on this forum seems to mention that.
And last but not least, it's also funny to see how everyone speaks of him being too sensitive while the majority here seems to be waaaaay more sensitive when it comes to these topics.
Sold my disk version of the metroid prime trilogy as soon as I heard it's gonna be for sale for 10. Will be rebuying the digital version now. So I'm making some profit this week
Really nothing more then a OK game. Reminds me of flash games like burrito bison or Kingdom Rush, or any other fine flash game. plays like one too except a little more smooth in terms of gameplay. The wiiU's gamepad makes things a lot more fun.
But mind you, the only reason people are liking this is because they either haven't played free flash games, or they lower their standards because of the pricetag. It's not unplayable, but it's really nothing special in any way, and compared to free fash games online, this is feels more like the premium edition of such a game than it feels like advance wars...
Funny to see all those titles. Red steel, deadly creatures and mad world are like 5 euros 2nd hand and are available in almost ALL gameshops here. So I'm not interested in paying more than 5 for them. I'd like epic yarn, xenoblade and the pikmin series to be released since it's impossible here to find it reasobably priced.
Maybe a silly question, I dont owe a wii (only wiiU). Can i use those wii-shop cards to buy games in the wii menu? Also, do need to run the wii menu in order to run VC games bought in the wii shop? Thats pretty much the only use for those starpoints (iḿ from europe, netherlands). I really think the rewards in the shop are all crappy. I really just want games....
Looks all great. I've been following MK8 DLC closely since I still play MK8 a lot. The tracks all have quite an appeal, and i haven't played the Wario and Yoshi level before, so that's a bonus for me. Actually really happy to see the SNES Rainbow Road, that track always delivers excitement due to the ability to bump people off the track (MK8 makes great use of that). The characters are somewhat poor but they'll bring more different characters to a race, which is nice for the eye. In this comment section I read somewhere that you're able to choose DLC when going online. hope that's true, because 90% of my MK8 time is spend online, I only play offline when my friends join in, who aren't experienced in MK.
@Zombie_Barioth True that. As I understand it, Nintendo is at least trying to get 3rd party support but aren't getting any. That's too bad but the WiiU still DOES bring the experience I bought it for. When I start up, say, Mario Kart of The Wind Waker I'm a happy gamer. More happy if I could play everything, but i'd buy a first party game over most crossplatform games anyway and Nintendo delivers enough first party to make it worthwile so far.
Seems like a lot of commenters here have misread Reggie's statement. So let me quote: "I would love to have Call of Duty on our platform. I would love to have any of the big blockbuster, multi-platform titles."
That being said, I sold my 360 to buy a WiiU because I'd rather play nintendogames without playing Ubisoft/EA/Activiion etc games then the other way around. So I agree with his vision on Nintendo: I would be very happy if i could play, say, Skyrim on my WiiU, but I bought the console because of it's first party releases
@BensonUii My thoughts exactly, This isn't just good news. It's a hint that VC N64 games will not come. Why would they release N64 remakes fullpriced on cartridges when they're working on building a N64 VC library?
nice to see the SNES rainbowroad here. My favorite mariokart track! Weird choice to include it again after MK7 though. Other tracks also look awesome. I can't wait to try them all out.
It is somewhat weird that these tracks can't aways be selected in online play, but then again, I have no idea how many people still play MK8 on a regular basis that didn't buy the DLC, maybe not too many. Would be great to somehow select people who also have the DLC when playing online.
These Amiibo's are getting less exciting with every news update. Turns out you can't play with them and can't use them in different games, and so close before the release not a single word of info on other games has been given (meaning Nintendo has either made a bad decision or has not made a decision at all). My guess is that it saves timetrials in MK8, like MK8 already does. And at best it creates a coöp CPU for hyruleYoshiToad.
Whoah, This is new for me, but i can't buy 1 amiibo and then just use that for all my games? My only interest in Amiibo's comes from the fact that they add some sort of extra gameplay. Not interested anymore.

@GN004Nadleeh Yes the same map with just new rules wich seems mostly useless, as i've never used a shield, or an item (besides bossbattles), or a healing potion.
