Why, though? This is why I hate these digital services—anything can be changed or removed on a whim. You might subscribe for a specific set of games, only for all of them to be unavailable at some point.
Now THIS appears to be a legit example where the guys who stole the game should be taken to court and made to pay every penny they've made to the original developer.
I actually loved Kirby's Epic Yarn on Wii. In fact, it's my favourite Kirby game thus far. Not that I've played them all, but enough to pick a top one.
Regarding the specific question and response highlighted on the site—presumably indicating that discussion is allowed and open to various opinions:
Twilite9: "I was wondering if you’d consider not linking to X anymore? For example, if a story comes from a tweet, you could repost the content or use a cropped screenshot without including a link."
Ed: "We're dismayed at the turn things have taken and we've made various changes in our approach to that platform. Right now, it remains a common tool for announcements and discussion from industry players, so you'll still see it sourced appropriately when no other sources are available. Any questions, our contact form is the best place for them."
Meanwhile, there are multiple posts making inflammatory statements and serious accusations about X and Musk, calling for the removal of anything related to X, and by extension, punishing those who choose to use and link to it.
Anyone else notice how one-sided the "conversation" is in this thread on Nintendo Life?
No offense intended, but it seems that those pointing out specific issues understand what can undermine great gameplay design and prevent a game from becoming a timeless classic, despite all the bells and whistles. Meanwhile, those praising it appear to believe that as long as a game is 'chaotic,' overstimulating, and offers random, mindless 'fun,' it qualifies as great. To me, this reflects a divide between two distinct groups of gamers and their differing perspectives. Historically, only one of these groups has consistently aligned with recognized greatness and genuine, multi-generational success across the industry. If the developers are reading these comments, I’d suggest they pay closer attention to the group associated with enduring excellence and success. That said, I’m just a random person online, so take it for what it’s worth.
What I don't quite understand is why it needs to rotate in order to use those features here, given there's a USB on both top and bottom?
Edit: I should have read above. LOL
Edit 2: And, as someone else said above too, I ain't going to hold out for anything beyond basically what we already know at this point. Too many times have fans come up with some very cool concepts prior to knowing everything about a new Nintendo console; and too many times have pretty much none of those cool things ever came to pass. So, keeping reality in check very firmly here.
Looks a bit pointless. But if it actually has a meaningful purpose, and it is indeed part of the system's features, I'm all for it. The core system is clearly very solid, so any extra little bells and whistles are a bonus basically.
The notion that anything other than an OLED screen is inherently problematic is nonsense. A group of technophile enthusiasts has misled many into believing this, but it’s simply not true. I have an LCD screen on my ModRetro Chromatic, and it looks stunning. In my opinion, there’s nothing that justifies paying an extra hundred pounds—or whatever the cost may be—for slightly better contrast and color on a handheld device like this. Most people—probably 99%—wouldn’t even notice the difference without a direct side-by-side comparison. The Switch 2 having an LCD isn’t genuinely a downside, especially if it results in a significantly cheaper console at launch. It’s similar to the obsession with metal cases on devices—another pointless trend companies like Apple have convinced everyone is essential. Plastic cases are lighter, more comfortable to hold (not cold in chilly environments), and more affordable, yet somehow they’ve been deemed inferior.
Man, what a shame they can't ever appreciate the game in the same way so many millions of other people have done over the years. I kinda feel a bit sorry for them, as it's such a magical title. Still, I'm sure they have plenty of games that do hold that same magic for them.
Well, the Kickstarter is shut down, but still release the film or at least everything you have of it.
Also, consider this: It's possible for people to spend their own money to make something like this and not break any laws, so long as they don't then sell it for profit. People spend their own money on random fan projects they make for fun all the time. Like, if you were a kid and asked your parents to give you a few hundred quid so you could buy some costumes and props and a cheap camera for a movie you wanted to make and film in your garden just for fun, Nintendo would have literally no say or control over that at all under the law. They can't stop you filming yourself running around in a Link costume that you bought in a costume shop for Halloween and posting your family footage on YouTube or wherever. So, isn't there some way to get just a whole lot more people to use their money to help make this without it being any different from the producers and directors using their own money right now in the same way. The only question is how do you get them to help on the project and use their own money in the same way you did as part of that, like "buy me a coffee" or "donate me a prop" or "can you spare me a few quid to buy this cool Zelda prop I saw in a shop that I liked, old pal". Just something to think about.
Only ten million to go and Switch takes the crown. And, really, if Nintendo can't get ten million more sales out of the Switch by the end of its life, it should be ashamed of itself. Simply dropping the price as the system nears the end of its life would almost certainly achieve that. Get to sub £200 or even £150 for the main Switch model and I think this thing would fly off the shelves. And a few more great games and bundles should further help seal the deal. It's on Nintendo to demonstrate its position in this industry, be it at the very top or second to Sony. And surely Nintendo has some pride on that front.
Probably something related to stuff like "social" media or sharing things will other "friends" online something like that, which I'm the least possible interested in. I hope it's better than that.
I think they should have learned that brand value with the NES, because they created a kinda perfectly descriptive name and hugely successful product there that everyone knew, Nintendo Entertainment System. I think that should have been the name of every Nintendo console from that point forward and just with a number at the end for each new version, NES 1, NES 2, NES 3, etc, just like with PlayStation.
PlayStation, now that's truly a name that hasn't been bettered in the industry to date. Sony nailed it first time around.
Remember when people used to refer to basically all gaming systems as "Nintendo". Nintendo could have just called every new system a Nintendo from that point forward and with a number for each new version. So we'd be on like the Nintendo 7 at this point, with the Nintendo 8 about to launch.
Switch isn't exactly a great name outside of this generation of systems imo. Because, unless every Nintendo system from this point forward has some kind of switching from TV to portable to tabletop feature, they're going to have to find a new name once again in another generation or two.
Again, Sony just utterly nailed it with PlayStation. It's even perfect for PlayStation Portable too. Christ, even Microsoft did well with Xbox as a base name, although all the numbering and series stuff got a bit daft and confusing. But at least we always know it's an Xbox and the new one is coming. And I think Nintendo needs to find something like that, which it can use for every new console going forward.
This is why you should never just blindly give in when you think you're not doing something wrong, and certainly not just because teh Internet has typically a totally ignorant opinion on such things everywhere you look. These corporations are not God, and, as some people have said, they're gonna take action whether they're right or wrong. So it's on you to fight for your right if indeed you think you're in the right. And, as you can see with this example, sometimes it's not so clear cut that you're not in the right.
@Olliemar28 I would mention it looks to be cashing in on the other currently very popular and successful Wukong game by using a similar name and cover/promo artwork, and warn people that it has nothing to do with the Wukong game that's currently winning awards and such, so not to fall for what appears to be an intentional cash-grab scam. Outside of that, I don't think I'd say much about that game other than it obviously looks and plays nothing like that other Wukong game either. The actual game itself doesn't look particularly bad or great to me based on what I'm seeing, but it's just a short trailer, so I couldn't comment much beyond that without playing it firsthand myself. And if I were reporting on this particular situation in any professional capacity, I'd try to just report on the objective facts as much as I could. But, hey, that's just me.
"instead offering a woefully animated 2D action game with bland visuals"
Now, let's just be honest here, while it may be cashing in on the real thing, I know fine well you would not be saying the above if this were just some new indie game that was trying to get by entirely on its own merit.
Can you at least try to stay professional and criticize properly and state things that are actually true, please.
The problem I have with the Steam Deck is it's just so big and ugly. I think they should get rid of the touchpads and slim it down across the board. It does look more ergonomic than Switch 2 though, which is a big advantage imo.
I tell you what though, if a Steam Deck ever gets powerful enough to run full PC VR games and I can literally just plug a VR headset into it and use it basically as portable VR, man, I might just buy into it to be honest. I mean, it looks like Nintendo has zero interest in taking VR seriously, and boy do I take VR seriously. So that could be what gives a future Steam Deck the win over whatever Switch version in my own preference.
And, note, the Steam Deck would have to be able to run this PC VR natively out the box, so I wouldn't have to faff around with nerd crap installing new operating systems and a bunch of random software and hacks made so obtuse that only geeks can be bothered trying it. It needs to be as frictionless as just plugging the headset in, opening my Steam library, picking one of the VR games I have there and go.
I hope the mouse support truly is real and works the way I think it will, both the mouse cursor stuff and also a simulated mouse wheel on the L/R shoulder buttons using touch like an Apple mouse and haptic/rumble feedback to simulate the sensation of the click-click-click as wheel scroll, along with all those games and more adding support for it, as well as Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom even just for quick item selection in the menus and such, and Metroid Prime 4 too.
Of course he will. It's Sega. This is how they drive their franchises into the ground and destroy any goodwill they'd previously built up. He'll likely be back for a fifth and sixth and spin-off and prequel and so on.
My order of enjoyment of the films goes 1 > 2 > 3, which actually matches exactly how I personally feel about the classic Sonic games too, so it will be interesting to see what I think of the forth Sonic movie.
The analyst is probably correct on this one, but it matters to me for sure. I won't remotely consider this thing until it's sub £300.
And anyone saying they're fine with it being priced above this is just giving a mega corporation like Nintendo all the ammo it needs to sell it for more than £300--you're your own worst enemies.
I hope they removed the outliers when making this calculation, so anyone at the top potentially earning millions didn't totally skew the figures. No company's "average" wage should be factoring in a handful of people earning millions to artificially skew the data, because then it's basically lying about what the typical employee there actually gets paid, usually skewing it higher than reality. In most cases it would actually be better to know the median than the average to be honest.
Anyone else get total "Revolution" (Wii) launch trailer vibes, just without any clips of people actually using the thing or gameplay footage other than the new Mario Kart:
And I think there was a bit of deliberateness in that, maybe trying to recapture some of that "Revolution" feeling and nostalgia. Except the Switch "2" isn't revolutionary like the Wii was, so it didn't really land in the same way.
@Bunkerneath You've literally described exactly what it has on it, a splash of colour beneath both the analogue sticks, and that continued on the connection points for both the Joy-Cons. That is your "splash or colour". Now, all I'd like to see if alternative colour options for those splashes. I'd personally rather have more Mario red and blue splash colours.
I'm not tiring of the hybrid concept at all, and I don't think any reasonable person should be--that's just typical Interdweeb try-hard rubbish imo, where they have to pretend they're too good/cool for something after a couple of years of popularity regardless of its merits--but I do wish the Switch "2" was far clearer an actual next generation system from Nintendo. It could still be a Switch ultimately, but I've yet to see anything that truly justifies the "2" moniker rather than just "Pro" for example. When the "2" is thrown around, I want to see something that's an obvious and proper generational jump from the previous system. Switch "2" is the least convincing example of "next-gen" home console hardware I've ever seen from Nintendo relative to its current/previous generation system. That's the only real issue I have with Switch "2", along with a few aesthetic and ergonomic design niggles and stuff that I truly hoped they'd have addressed fully by now. But whatever, Switch "2" it is.
For anyone who already has a Switch and actually loves it, I don't think the leaks will make the slightest bit of difference in their decision to purchase a Switch "2", which I still don't think all of them would have bought regardless. The real question for me there is how many of them will actually make the jump from Switch to Switch "2".
@Spider-Kev The Super Mario Bros. Movie is one of the best cg animated movies ever made imo, and practically perfect for the audience it's aimed at. And I think that's one of the key reasons for its absolutely stunning success at the box office. Now, you can disagree all you want, and I will just disagree with you. And outside of opinions, the amazing box office speaks measurable volumes. It's that simple.
Personally, I think every character should now just be based on the movie designs, which are so far the peak for all the Mario stuff imo. There's a reason it made over 1.3 billion dollars at the box office.
It's very clear the Joy-Con can indeed be used as mice now. And I'm certain that "scroll wheel" functionality Sakurai mentioned will also be built into the normal shoulder buttons too, but just via sensing you sliding your index finger and then haptic feedback to simulate the subtle click-click-click as the "wheel" scrolls. It totally makes sense at this point.
The fact this new blank button isn't on both controllers is of more interest to me, because now there's one extra button on only the right controller. But, having said that, while the current Joy-Con have the same amount of buttons on each controller, it's not like those random UI ones function the same on each.
I actually really enjoyed the Virtual Console on Wii. I've never been particularly enamored with the Switch's online paid subscription service and its offerings. Tried it on my wife's new Switch Lite and just found it meh.
Just thinking about this again now that we're hearing rumors of the Joy-Cons potentially having the same kind of IR sensors are a PC mouse. If you combine that with a scroll wheel style shoulder button, it could be very interesting.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think Of Donkey Kong's Redesign In Mario Kart 9?
@Spider-Kev The Super Mario Bros. Movie is one of the best cg animated movies ever made imo, and practically perfect for the audience it's aimed at. And I think that's one of the key reasons for its absolutely stunning success at the box office. Now, you can disagree all you want, and I will just disagree with you. And outside of opinions, the amazing box office speaks measurable volumes. It's that simple.
Re: Poll: What Do You Think Of Donkey Kong's Redesign In Mario Kart 9?
Personally, I think every character should now just be based on the movie designs, which are so far the peak for all the Mario stuff imo. There's a reason it made over 1.3 billion dollars at the box office.
Re: Poll: So, What Did You Think Of The Switch 2 Reveal?
It's very clear the Joy-Con can indeed be used as mice now. And I'm certain that "scroll wheel" functionality Sakurai mentioned will also be built into the normal shoulder buttons too, but just via sensing you sliding your index finger and then haptic feedback to simulate the subtle click-click-click as the "wheel" scrolls. It totally makes sense at this point.
Re: Poll: So, What Did You Think Of The Switch 2 Reveal?
Literally nothing that wasn't already leaked, and still no reason for me to consider buying one.
Re: Switch 2's Rumoured 'C' Button Isn't Actually A 'C' Button
The fact this new blank button isn't on both controllers is of more interest to me, because now there's one extra button on only the right controller. But, having said that, while the current Joy-Con have the same amount of buttons on each controller, it's not like those random UI ones function the same on each.
Re: Switch 2's Rumoured 'C' Button Isn't Actually A 'C' Button
I'm just thinking it's kinda funny that more of the Switch "2" reveal will come the day after April Fool's Day.
Re: Rumour: Switch Virtual Console Was Apparently Nintendo's "Original Plan"
I actually really enjoyed the Virtual Console on Wii. I've never been particularly enamored with the Switch's online paid subscription service and its offerings. Tried it on my wife's new Switch Lite and just found it meh.

Re: Soapbox: 'Switch 2' Is Nintendo's Chance To Adopt The PC Feature It's Desperate To Take For A Spin
Just thinking about this again now that we're hearing rumors of the Joy-Cons potentially having the same kind of IR sensors are a PC mouse. If you combine that with a scroll wheel style shoulder button, it could be very interesting.

Re: Anniversary: Resident Evil 4, One Of The Greatest Games Ever Made, Turns 20
And genuinely one of the best games ever in VR too. In Quest 3 it's just brilliant.
Re: Round Up: 'Switch 2' Renders Suggest A Sleek, Classy Successor
Would much rather it have blue and red accents, with red being Nintendo red at that.
