Yo-Kai Watch has been out for a couple weeks now and has fared pretty well in the West, though it certainly doesn't seem to be the massive success that it was in Japan. Nonetheless, the franchise has established itself now and we'll likely be seeing the various sequels and spinoffs that the series will spawn. It seems that Level-5 is already looking to the future, as Akihiro Hino – Level-5's CEO – indicated recently.
IGN got the chance to talk to Hino in an interview and he said that if Level-5 has a game they think would fit on the Wii U, he would "proactively consider it". This doesn't necessarily limit them to a Yo-Kai Watch game, as any of Level-5's IP could show up. Moving on to the NX, Hino mentioned that Level-5 would bring games to it if the console could "bring Level-5 games to as many kids as possible."
What do you think? Would you like to see Level-5 games on other Nintendo consoles? What did you think of Yo-Kai Watch? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

They should do it.
Imagine Fantasy Life on the big screen.
@MarinoKadame Fantasy Life needs a proper sequel. FL2 mobile game makes me sad.
Ni No Kuni follow up would make more sense though.
Bringing their games to as many people as possible could mean other consoles and smartphones. They've got a good relationship with Nintendo so maybe not other consoles. However, more smartphone games seem likely since they're already making Fantasy Life 2 a mobile game, and smartphone games are really popular in Japan at the moment.
i never playes the games because there are so many great rpg's on the 3ds but on wii u not so much so i would try it i guess, not a bad idea
I want a home console Layton
Professor layton NX would be great
Ni no kuni port please. What a lovely game.
@CTMike Couldn't they just program a 3DS e-shop version of the DS game for the western audience first...
Even if I am not against importing a DS game I can't understand, the prices are insane because of the book.
@MarinoKadame That was my very first thought.
I'd love to see a Pokemon style game like this on a home console. I think it'd be pretty cool, though I'm not sure if I'd prefer that version over the mobile version.
@kantaroo That is exactly what I was going to say or better still an exclusive sequel.
That would be cool. They can use the GamePad's motion control to search for Yo-Kai on the TV. Given the popularity in Japan they can even have NFC Yo-Kai medals for added gameplay, optional of course.
I haven't got the game yet (on my wish list though) but given the demo and anime series, I would enjoy it.
Yaay! Professor Layton for Wii U.
At this point it doesn't matter if these are VC releases or HD remakes.
Layton should have been on Wii U since launch!
More games on a console is always good.
@MarinoKadame This is exactly what we need - Fantasy Life 2 (or 3) on Wii U.
The DS version of Ni No Kuni is incredibly watered down compared to the PS3 version.
@TechnoPk He actually is interested in porting the series to the Wii U. Thing is though by the time they do it, the Wii U's lifespan would have ended.
But honestly, the series itself is to be played on the go unless they make puzzles that are longer to solve than simple touch solutions.
@LztheQuack You have to consider the limitations here. We're talking about a system that is only more powerful than the n64 and not the Gamecube.
Exactly. I'd rather have the PS3 version ported since it is already translated
For my own enjoyment of console gaming at home with a shared screen I hope above everything else NIntendo solves the problem of having totally separate devices to develop for. It needs to be so easy to port between the "console" version and the "portable" version that few developers would pass up one for the other. Not to mention, it would be nice if it didn't feel alien to develop for if a developer was used to PS4 and XB1.
A tall order, but much of the work has been done already with the two hardware teams being combined. That key decision came too late for the 3DS and Wii U, but Iwata's decision to merge teams and increase collaboration may pay off for decades to come.
Doesn't necessarily solve the similarity to other platforms though. :/
Really Wii-U owners would have been tickled to get Yokai Watch on the system. Personally I like it better than Pokemon so far. To me it just has a better feel and storyline. Blasphemy I know lol
I'd support this. Anything to get an RPG like this on that system, since there was never a thought in my mind that Pkmn would step up.
Barring a scenario where the NX outright bombs in Japan (which is unlikely as the platform will likely include a handheld component that essentially succeeds the 3DS, which is the only truly successful 8th gen gaming platform in Japan), there is no doubt that NX will eventually get its own Yokai Watch entry.
If Yokai Watch 4 was a released in 2017 as a Year one title for NX, it would be a massive system seller in Japan for the NX. Massive.
@Morph Professor Layton would be great on Wii U, everyone could sit around the TV and help solve puzzles together. I don't know why Nintendo haven't experimented and tried releasing one.
Well then Nintendo. You know what to do x3
Just thinking of a Fantasy Life game on console makes me excited, especially if they can incorporate local multiplayer.
