Re: DOOM Eternal Switch FAQ Addresses Gyro Controls, Multiplayer, DLC And More

Razer

@Lordplops I highly doubt it, I've never heard of AAA digital only games selling "bucketloads" on the Nintendo Switch. Or really any Nintendo platform.

Especially not AAA digital only games that are over 15 gigs (i know thats low for this game but that doesn't change the point) and costs £50. When it's under £20 elsewhere.

I could be wrong but that might be indicative of why Nintendo doesn't bother to release digital download figures like Sony and Microsoft do.

Re: DOOM Eternal Switch FAQ Addresses Gyro Controls, Multiplayer, DLC And More

Razer

I hope this sells well but I won't be supporting it and judging by the overwhelmingly negative response to the digital only shtick, I won't be the only one.

Unfortunately Microsoft can eventually use this as a reason to make sure no more Bethesda games make it on a Nintendo platform.

I'm sure we will still get other games from developers that Microsoft own, but I can see them saying :

"we don't feel that Nintendo platforms are the right place for games that our team at Bethesda are making". This game will be used as a reason to that statement.

Re: DOOM Eternal Switch eShop File Size Revealed

Razer

@Brummieendo90 it's not just the actual ownership which matters.

In particular with Nintendo systems, if you have a Wii U and it has tons of games downloaded, say through the VC, if you lose or break that Wiii U, you've lost allll those games too.

Re: DOOM Eternal Switch eShop File Size Revealed

Razer

@Jester151 ok so you have to redownload it when you want to play it again?

You realise how slow Switch downloads are though?

Okay so how about let's say in 8 years time, for whatever reason, you lose your Switch with all your digital games on there, Nintendo have discontinued the eShop

What do you do about your old games? Does losing your Switch mean you've lost your old games? And a lot of money too?

Because I could just buy another Switch from eBay and I'd still have most my games.

What would you do in that situation?

Re: DOOM Eternal Switch eShop File Size Revealed

Razer

@superderper this is my biggest issue to be honest.

It doesn't matter how fast your Internet connection actually is, there's a limit to how fast the Switch can download stuff and it seems to take a couple of hours just for 5 gigs, 17 would be a good 6-7 hour download.

Re: DOOM Eternal Switch eShop File Size Revealed

Razer

@Jester151 see i can't imagine taking that stance, I have a 400 gb card and another 256, all my main games are physical, I own 26 physical games, stuff like BOTW, Odyssey, Doom 2016, Skyrim, Witcher 3, kart, Smash etc etc... all physical...

All my Indie games and a few big games that were on sale are digital...

my 256 is full and I have 200 left of my 400, how on earth do you go "just digital"... I mean I really just don't get it.

How you even manage to do it? Is there a 2TB card I don't know about?

Re: Soapbox: If The Smash Community Wants To #SaveSmash, It Needs To Start From Within

Razer

@ChaosBadger777 that's really no worries at all and you have a quality that many who behave that way don't have, you reflect after you act, which is good. Reflection is hard to do for many, especially those with little to no filter.

You are able, like you have today, call yourself out on your mistakes and correct them. I know many who would not have done that. NO worries at all.

So I say again. Good man.

Re: Soapbox: If The Smash Community Wants To #SaveSmash, It Needs To Start From Within

Razer

@ChaosBadger777 you realise the expression "joke in bad taste" right?

You can't say anything you like and put "joke" at the end and pretend everything is all hunky dory.

A joke has to be in good humour and yours wasn't funny, you knew it wasn't funny and it was offensive because you felt the need to say you were joking.

You need to realise there is a line you can't cross, forget being "PC or open minded" r*** jokes on a topic about people being abused is uncalled for.

Re: DOOM Eternal Blasts To Switch In December - Check Out The New Trailer

Razer

@Sanangelo89 yeah I mean sure, if you want to go ahead and pay full price for this then don't let a few comments on here stop you. Just don't get all worked up because others won't subscribe to the same way as thinking as you.

Personally I'm going to pass, at least for that price, I may grab it one day when it drops in price but I'm not exactly starved of games, there's more than enough good games to keep me enthralled, I don't need to spend this much when I can get a similar experience from other games for a fraction of the price.

Some made by the same developers no less.

Re: DOOM Eternal Blasts To Switch In December - Check Out The New Trailer

Razer

@Sanangelo89 I would agree with you but you see, the game is available for under £20 on other better hardware. You can get it on Gamepass and actually play it on a mid range PC and it'll be cheaper and look better than it does on the Switch.

You couple all that up with the 9 month wait and you have a sinker here.

You can't really blame anyone for the overwhelming negative feedback on here.

Re: UK Charts: Hyrule Warriors Drops 14 Places While Animal Crossing Returns To Winning Ways

Razer

This is expected, they put a lot of hype around what is at it's core, a mindless hack and slash game with about 40 or so hours of content available, because they had nothing else for the holidays, because Covid 19 pushed everything back.

This game was always going to fall off quickly, maybe Nintendo were hoping it would have holiday legs, and be able to carry the system through the holidays.

It clearly doesn't judging by this news.

Re: Random: Smash Bros. Director Masahiro Sakurai Shares His Thoughts About The PlayStation 5

Razer

@glaemay this is partly true, the console wars actually started with Sega and Nintendo, the Sega TV ads were particularly focused on competing with Nintendo.

Nintendo by enlarge ignored Sega though.

now where the truth in your statement comes in, is when Sony entered the race with the sole purpose of putting Sega and Nintendo out of business, is when Nintendo started to take notice of the competition.

But the thing is, since then a lot has changed, particularly with Sony, who are no longer trying to put anyone out of business, instead Sony are trying hard to stay in business.

Almost EVERY single one of Sony's other divisions are bleeding money and have been for the better part of a decade now.

Mobiles
Movies
Other electronics

All have been in negative figures for a long while, mobiles are particularly bad, they even exited the Laptop space in 2014 because they couldn't turn a profit on it.

Sony (Playstation) fans might still be on the old band wagon but Sony themselves are more than likely focused on the health of their own business and not the health of another companies.

Also there is another metric in this that matters and that's the company overheads but I won't get into that now. The short of it is, Sony simply cannot afford to compete with a company that actually makes a profit from every console they sell.

Re: Random: Smash Bros. Director Masahiro Sakurai Shares His Thoughts About The PlayStation 5

Razer

I committed to the Xbox Series X before either were released because I thought Microsoft were preparing to whip out the big guns.

But then I learned that Microsoft won't have a single exclusive game for at least the first year of the Xboxes life.

So I'm going with Sony again, I really wanted to hop back on the Xbox band wagon but with Gamepass, I honestly won't need to. I can just Play Xbox games elsewhere.

Microsoft need to ditch their consoles, they've actually got no idea what they are doing anymore.

Re: Animal Crossing Wins Nintendo Game Of The Year At The Golden Joysticks, Here Are All The Winners

Razer

@Varkster well you seem to be a bit immature, I'm not sure how old you actually are but you seem to be unaware of how opinions are subjective to one's own experience.

So you seem to think "The Last Of Us" was bad, and there are some circles that share your opinion. But the mainstream opinion on this is that this is a good game.

Now just because you say it isn't a good game, doesn't make the mainstream opinion wrong.

But it also doesn't make your opinion wrong either, now your opinion is the minority opinion and it's not shared by most people who have played the game.

You are entitled to it, in the same way that the mainstream opinion, stating this game is a masterpiece, is also acceptable.

Having a hissy fit because the mainstream opinion exists is your own shortcomings.

Simple as that.

Re: Animal Crossing Wins Nintendo Game Of The Year At The Golden Joysticks, Here Are All The Winners

Razer

@Varkster "fam" it's still just your opinion.

You can kick and scream like a little child all you want, it doesn't make your opinion right.

It's just your opinion, the majority of EVERYONE disagrees with you.

It honestly doesn't matter what point you think you've made about reviews and what deserves what.

Your opinion is ONLY your opinion, it's also a minority opinion.

So fam, pipe down.

Re: Animal Crossing Wins Nintendo Game Of The Year At The Golden Joysticks, Here Are All The Winners

Razer

@Varkster "this game is not goty" is your own opinion. Yes opinions are great, it's great that you can have your own opinion.

My personal opinion is that Animal Crossing and Mario Odyssey are two of the most overrated and down right terrible AAA games that have been made in the last decade.

but this is MY opinion, I don't imagine many people share my opinion.

In the same way that your opinion isn't shared by many people either... But it's just your opinion and is not a fact.

Re: Animal Crossing Wins Nintendo Game Of The Year At The Golden Joysticks, Here Are All The Winners

Razer

@Guest88 now I do think you are a troll generally but I'm going to have to agree here.

The Last Of Us is probably better than every game on the Switch except BOTW. It's a heavy hitting game to be sure.

Animal Crossing was a fad that got out of hand because of the pandemic, had it not been for that, the game would probably be sitting on half those sales. But even so, sales don't make a good game, and Animal Crossing isn't really, in my opinion at least, a good game at all.

Re: Rumour: Resident Evil Revelations 3 Will Be A Switch "Focused" Release, Says Capcom Insider

Razer

But what does that even mean? Am I meant to believe that because it was made specifically for the Switch, it won't look better on other platforms?

Because I highly doubt that. So this comment actually has no substantial meaning behind it.

It doesn't matter that it'll be made with the Switch in mind, it'll still run better in both graphics and frame rate on other platforms.

Essentially making this comment pointless. Now if it's an exclusive, that's a different issue. But it doesn't seem to be.

Re: "Free Melee" Becomes "Save Smash" Following Nintendo's Legal Action Against Competitive Smash Bros. Event

Razer

@Strumpan they should be allowed to protect their IPs but I also think laws should be put in place to allow fans to use these pieces of media entertainment to create fan fiction, which would incorporate these events too as long as dues are paid to the original creator.

This would actually benefit all parties. But then you get into the whole issue of regulation and how the original creator would intend for those IPs to be used.

It's all a complicated situation which is why it is the way it is now.

Re: Random: March 31st 2021 Is Becoming An Increasingly Depressing Day For Mario Fans

Razer

@Rob3008 unfortunately we are partly at fault as you say, the complacency was caused by us.

We've allowed them to get away with the shoddy online infrastructure they have in place.

We've purchased, in ridiculous numbers, shoddy games like Mario Party. Essentially telling them it's okay to release half a game.

We've allowed joy con drift to continue unchecked with barely any consequences to the imbeciles who made the defective hardware.

These things are all our fault.

But Nintendo could well mess up too, they got complacent during the Wii days and look what happened - if they don't release a Switch 2 with more powerful innards, instead opting to take the route of *innovation" - (think Wii/Wii U). Then they'll pay in spades for those shoddy joy cons.

Re: "Free Melee" Becomes "Save Smash" Following Nintendo's Legal Action Against Competitive Smash Bros. Event

Razer

The thing is, Nintendo are using the same loophole in the law to their own benefit by claiming their games are not art but "entertainment" - yet they use artistic copy right laws to protect their IPs.

It's a bit hypocritical.

Now the organizers of this event are aware of this so they were just antagonising Nintendo, which then caused Nintendo to pull their sponsorship and now this.

How much longer that loophole favours Nintendo is yet to be seen but sooner or later Nintendo will have to choose which is more important.
