UK Charts: Hyrule Warriors Drops 14 Places While Animal Crossing Returns To Winning Ways

Hyrule Warriors was always going to drop but considering it is already the biggest selling Warriors game ever after one week it can only be considered a sales success.

Another very strong week for Switch.

Waiting on the NDF with their conspiracy theories.

The other big winner of the week was Nintendo Switch. With PS5 and Xbox Series S and X almost entirely missing from shelves, Nintendo swooped in with an influx of new console stock and bundles. There was also some deals to be had and, as a result, boxed Switch game sales were up 33% last week. In fact, 9% more Switch games were sold during Black Friday 2020 compared with the same period in 2019.

Switch games accounted for over 38% of all boxed games sold during Black Friday week. The big seller was Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which rose to No.3 after a 58% weekly sales rise (coming on the back of a 36% rise the week before). It was followed closely by Mario Kart 8: Deluxe at No.4 (sales up 62% week-on-week). Other key Switch sellers were Minecraft at No.8 (sales up 26%) and Super Mario 3D All Stars at No.9 (up 54%).

10% of FIFA 21 sales is not too flippen bad. I preordered hyrule warriors for my son in October... has yet to arrive. Coming today, apparently...

Honestly I'm playing Age of Calamity more than any of the new PS4/PS5 games I bought on the same month, though that'll likely change when Cyberpunk comes out. Finished the main story and still coming back for more. Guess finding those Koroks will be next on the agenda.

Fifa by the evil company ea who shortly after releasing their games discount their games. Full price nintendo games are where it's really at. I'm sure the extra dollars I spend on nintendo games gets redistributed to some sort of charity that I'd approve of. Nintendo is the best. Pikmin 9/10, age of calamity 9/10, vs need for speed 7/10 and fifa 2/10.

Even with the Zelda name its fairly niche and most what wanted it would have got it on release, we know its done really well so no worries.

I love how NL went with the negative headline on this. It seems like you guys have been waiting years to write negative headlines (plural, you made them before, but not as many as you do now) about a Nintendo system.

This is expected, they put a lot of hype around what is at it's core, a mindless hack and slash game with about 40 or so hours of content available, because they had nothing else for the holidays, because Covid 19 pushed everything back.

This game was always going to fall off quickly, maybe Nintendo were hoping it would have holiday legs, and be able to carry the system through the holidays.

It clearly doesn't judging by this news.

For what I played, surprised only 14 spots.

They should have done like Sony did with Miles Morales. A standalone with same gameplay as ZBOTW.

Glad I only wasted a GameFly slot and not $60 on it. I should have gone with my gut reaction of the demo.

Urgh, Hyrule Warriors only sold 3 million worldwide in less than a week, what an absolute flop. Gotta laugh.

Nintendo clearly has other games to carry the Switch over Christmas as evidenced by the chart in this very article.

Also Age of Calamity is already the best selling Warriors game ever but sure this is negative news for Nintendo......

It looks like a solid game, but there is a lot of competition.

Age of Calamity hada decent 2nd week sales drop off (~61%), but a ton of other games getting discounted will obviously push the game down the retail charts.

Looks like its Black Friday week sales was the game's biggest week of sales outside of its launch week. The same applies to Super Mario 3D All-Stars.

These charts are rather worthless.
Because it's Physical + digital (others) vs physical only (nintendo).

All the charts tell us is

Animal Crossing (physical only) has outsold every other game outside of FIFA and Call of Duty (both physical and digital) despite launching 8 months ago.

I'm sure if you add in the Nintendo digital sales, Animal Crossing would be #1 most weeks.

These charts are retail-only for all games.

This game was super button mashy and dull till I turned up the difficulty. In VH, you have to pay more attention to timing your dodges for flurries, and sync your tablet abilities to the biggest thing in the room.

This game is much more legit at a good difficulty. If they just made VH the default mode, and call normal 'casual', I think people's first impressions would be much better, and word of mouth would carry this game further in the sales charts.

Gamers are masochists, and if you treat them with that much respect, they'll learn your game and like it. I almost went back to playing Hades, but I gave the harder difficulties a chance first, and I'm glad I did.

@sixrings Need for Speed Hot Pursuit is actually really good, I think you should give it a chance before dismissing it just because EA. Also, Nintendo these days are just as greedy as EA, if not more, so no chance they would give ALL of their profits to charity, only about 0.01% of it, if any.
