Re: Reminder: We're Getting Our First Look At Sephiroth In Smash Bros. Ultimate Today

Razer

@PushMyGran86 i liked it, but im over it now.

I can turn it on for one or 2 matches before i get bored.

If others are still fixated on this one 2 year old game when there's so many more on the console then yeah sure, knock yourself out.

I honestly couldn't care less about this news though, i certainly don't think it's big enough news to warrant a place at the Game Awards.

The game was fun but it's had its time. Nintendo can give us NEW content instead of flogging this 2 year old horse.

Re: Reminder: We're Getting Our First Look At Sephiroth In Smash Bros. Ultimate Today

Razer

@JokerCK imagine still caring about ONE new character in a game that is over 2 years old and has 80+ characters.

____

I've already spent 120 hours on this game, one character who likely plays similarly to another character already in the game, won't make me turn this game on.

It barely works online and the single player content doesn't carry this game as far as Nintendo are flogging the horse.

Re: Guide: Nintendo Switch Online - Every NES And SNES Game Available

Razer

This isn't too bad in terms of value for money on what you're getting. There's more than enough games to merit the cost of subscription.

The problem is, does that add value to you personally?
Are these games, games you would want to go out of your way to play?
Will wanting to play them entice you to purchase the online subscription?

Unfortunately it seems nobody at Nintendo asked those question, sure they are throwing tons of games in for a cheap price but are they games people will actually want to play?

Re: Sephiroth From Final Fantasy VII Joins Super Smash Bros. Ultimate This Month

Razer

@clvr yeah well GTA 5 is different and you know it, it was still in the top 10 best selling games even as recently as earlier this year. Any game that sells as much and as consistently would be considered a big deal.

It's the best selling AAA video game of all time by a very long margin. It's not just Rockstar who make a big hoohaa around that game, every publication in the history of video games sings its praises. The game has reached a mythical status that quite frankly, makes me feel bad for Rockstar having to follow it up somehow.

Smash Ultimate won't hit 30m lifetime sales on the Switch, possibly 25-27- which is nothing to sniff at, but GTA 5 is a different type of fish here.

Re: It's Official, Funimation Is Releasing Its Anime App On Switch This Week

Razer

@TheSmashTheorist well i downloaded 2k20 for £4 on a crazy cheap sale, it's one of the only big AAA games i own digitally. Because they are yearly games, I've never been too bothered about owning them physically.

how big is the file size for 21? I may delete my 2k20 and get 21 when it's on one of those super cheap sales if it's within the same size as the 20.

20 was 44 gigs i think, which like you said, is kinda crazy. But you should know, when that urge to play some ball comes along, can't simply ignore it 😆.

Re: Nintendo Expands Its Switch Online SNES And NES Service With Five More Titles

Razer

Oh come on, nobody is about to sit there for 20+ hours to complete DKC3 on that shoddy SNES emulator that Nintendo have legally given us.

Some fans will likely play a few hours, for nostalgia purposes, put the damn game away and most likely NEVER touch it again.

I've said this a lot lately about Nintendo's moves on the Switch, but this like other things they have done recently, adds no value to the Switch.

Nobody is sitting there at home without a Switch, waiting for this news to drop like "oh look Tuff E Nuff has finally made it over, i best go spend my money on that Switch".

Give me a break Nintendo, do something worth while for a change, so close to Christmas, how about giving us a shoddy N64 emulator, i know we'll eat that up if you did.

At least you know that adding an N64 app on the Switch would actually help increase sales of the console.

Re: Video: Check Out Hitman 3's Moody Opening Cinematic

Razer

I'll pass.

I don't understand why they bother with these cloud games on the Switch, i mean if any was a blockbuster hit that millions of people wanted to play, we would of heard something about it.

When something is successful, you tend to hear snippets of news on its success.

We haven't heard a single peep from any cloud game that has EVER been released on the Switch after it gets released.

You'd have thought that the companies would just give up on the idea, but i guess they all want to have a go before declaring that horse dead.

Re: It's Official, Funimation Is Releasing Its Anime App On Switch This Week

Razer

@NathanTheAsian Netflix said that the Switch app was ready for the Switch.

It just needed Nintendo's approval.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/gamerant.com/nintendo-switch-netflix-app/amp/

https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2017/09/rumour_netflix_app_ready_for_switch_all_it_needs_is_nintendos_go-ahead

In this particular instance, Netflix went out of their way to optimise their app for the Switch before getting approved and never got the final approval. Although it is meant to be a rumor, throughout 2018 it was constantly mentioned, i think the rumors came from Netflix themselves, or people who worked there.

Re: It's Official, Funimation Is Releasing Its Anime App On Switch This Week

Razer

@Snakesglowcaps I've had it for 3 years but the issue is, i have thousands of hours on various video games, just an example below.

300 hours for Witcher 3
285 hours for Botw
260 hours on Skyrim
190 hours on NBA 2k20 (Hush, i don't want to hear it! I love me some basketball)
175 hours on Dark Souls
150 hours on Dragons Dogma
130 hours on Dragon Quest 11
125 hours on Smash
120 hours on Mario Kart
115 on Splatoon 2

This doesn't include all the indie games I've played like Hollow Knight and Dead Cells are both 80 hours each. I was on furlough for 6 months until September, so a lot of time for games lol.

What with not being able to go out and all, 2020 really has been the year for gaming, Witcher 3, Skyrim, NBA 2k20, Dragons quest and dogma all from this year.

So yeah i would say it's a lot of use that has killed it.

Re: It's Official, Funimation Is Releasing Its Anime App On Switch This Week

Razer

I don’t think I'd want to use my Switch for watching stuff on, especially not now.

I really think i might need a new Switch soon but I'm holding out, this one i have is about ready to keel over and die on me i think, keeps making a noise like a tractor when i play games on handheld and the batteries go below 50%. Which incidentally, takes about an hour even on Indie games.

I think my battery is a bit knackered, I'm desperately holding out for a Super Switch 😩.

Re: UK Charts: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Sales Keep Rising, But Cyberpunk 2077 Goes Top

Razer

@westman98 True, very true.

But i think that maybe because Switch gets 3rd party games so far after the initial release date that the hype for the game dies out.

Which kinda means any anger fans might have had for the game dissolves along with the hype.

Sure The Outer Worlds was broken on the Switch before they patched it a bit but by the time it was released, it wasn't worth complaining about.

Re: UK Charts: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Sales Keep Rising, But Cyberpunk 2077 Goes Top

Razer

I would genuinely be interested to see refunds and returns get taken off this list.

Because Cyberpunk wouldn't be number 1 if it were.

They probably might not even break the top 10, the game is straight broken on the console with the highest install base that is currently available this year.

As a minimum, if you are releasing a game now, you would try damn hard to make it work well on a console with the highest Install base.

CDPR messed this whole thing up so badly.

Re: Random: Disgruntled Fans Spam Nintendo Tweet In Response To YouTube Soundtrack Takedowns

Razer

@RetroOutcast yeah this is turning into a big issue for them, it's not one problem, it's a collection of many problems.

The Joys con Drift.
The poor online infrastructure in 2020.
The situation with the Smash community.
The situation with the Etiks joy cons.
The situation with the YouTube community
And now this.

This doesn't include how draconian they normally are in their actions anyway.

@the4seer "they have always protected their IPs for better or for worse".

I have a feeling this will be worse, much worse than what they could possibly expect.

It's one thing after another now, their making a lot of huge PR mistakes and it'll hurt them if this continues.

Re: Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered Receives Its Very First Patch

Razer

@Primarina i would say yes, fair enough on that point, a change in leadership and general direction would be a step in the right direction.

A return of some old IPs that they've killed off. It's fair to say, especially now, companies shouldn't be going under and risking more jobs. No i will agree with that.

But where i will NOT agree, is that any of that fantasy (EA changing) is ever possible, EA has long been lost to the corporate structure of "numbers are all that matter". That will never change

They embody that structure and there isn't any saving them, sure we can imagine that they may make these steps towards redemption.

But they won't.

You are right to say, they shouldn't go under for those reasons. I agree with that, but morally and for the sake of the video game industry, they should certainly go under.

Re: Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered Receives Its Very First Patch

Razer

@RustedHero the true scope is the things we never got from the developers they killed.

Sure Mass Effect died, as did Aliens Colonial Marines, Heroes of Might And Magic and many many others have been killed off by them, many we know.

But the scope is the ones we could have gotten, IPs that COULD have been made but never were because a monstrous company strangled their creativity and drove away the hearts of those businesses.

The true damage isn't the IPs that we know about, but the IPs that we don't, the one's that those developers never got a chance to make.

That is the real crime in what they've done.

Re: Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered Receives Its Very First Patch

Razer

@RustedHero them being in business is a crime against gamers, what they have done to the gaming landscape over the past 15+ years is, as you said, a genocide.

Some people have short memories and are generally fickle (not in a bad way) when it comes to such long term damage, many gamers today were mere kids when EA started to embody an actual demon sent from the pits of hell.

I don't blame anyone for forgetting or not realising the whole scope of the damage they have caused.

But i for one will never EVER forget what they have done to the industry i hold dear. I trust you won't either.

Re: Random: Disgruntled Fans Spam Nintendo Tweet In Response To YouTube Soundtrack Takedowns

Razer

@Trikeboy yeah i know which is why i think Nintendo might not like the market too much. Which isn't going to do Nintendo any favours... they can’t keep antagonising the community as they are.

The thing is, and the Wii U demonstrated exactly this point - Nintendo needs the gamers to accept their products until it becomes accepted by the casual market.

Casuals don't buy their games or consoles if nobody is talking about them in a positive way.

That starts with the hardcore gaming community. Nintendo needs this community if they want to be successful. Simple as that.

This will all end badly for Nintendo, not the gamers.

Re: Random: Disgruntled Fans Spam Nintendo Tweet In Response To YouTube Soundtrack Takedowns

Razer

Im starting to think, now this is just a thought, but it seems Nintendo isn't too fond of gamer geek culture. They prefer the casual market, and kids, casual gamers and kids don't bother themselves with these things.

But i think quite a lot of the gaming community gets annoyed with Nintendo when these things happen.

The problem for Nintendo is, the people who buy and reviews consoles and games are the gaming community who Nintendo is antagonising right now. The casuals don't follow if the experts (the gaming community) doesn't approve.

This is just a thought and maybe im wrong but it just seems like Nintendo would rather the hardcore gaming community not buy into their products.

Re: Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered Receives Its Very First Patch

Razer

@rockodoodle i would rather the choice not to include a company such as EA, they've killed off 50% of the good developers that were making games throughout the early 00s.

Companies like BioWare, Westwood Studios (remember the heroes of might and magic games...) - Criterion Games (my friend actually worked here between 2002 and 2007, he said the first 2 years were the best years of work he ever had).

I personally watched EA take many video game companies i love and ruin them.

WatchMojo made a YouTube video on 10 companies EA have destroyed: https://youtu.be/KiEtAXu7vYw

Let me ask you, if you would rather the choice of having those companies back or choosing to continue support for the company that killed them?

Personally, i love video games, so because of that i have to be vocal against EA for the reasons i have stated above. They are a genuine cancer on this industry and they are genuinely doing damage to the industry by existing.

Re: Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered Receives Its Very First Patch

Razer

@kobashi100 Gear Club was bad on release but it's been updated a lot, they've made great changes and the game has come a long way.

It's not as good as the games you've mentioned but it's still a decent game. If you like racers then this isn't one to sleep on anymore, the updates have improved the game a fair bit.

Unfortunately the reviews don't reflect this, but the game is quite cheap nowadays. You can pick it up on a bargain and there's easily 40-50 hours of content here.

Now think about this for a second, like i said, this game is exclusive on the Switch, supporting this game means more exclusive support from the developers who made the game.

Supporting that cause in my opinion is better than supporting EA's practices.

Re: Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered Receives Its Very First Patch

Razer

@kobashi100 no their not the best. Try Fast RMX.

Have you tried Gear Club Unlimited 2? The game is exclusive on the Switch, the developers have been updating the game for years and its a lot better than it was on release.

It's a proper racing game thats a Switch exclusive.

Why don't you support them? Do you own the game?

Re: Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered Receives Its Very First Patch

Razer

@kobashi100 it's called "not knowing whats good for you".

EA are a plague on the video game industry with their practices, if you support such disgusting practices thats your shortcomings but don't expect me to not voice my opinion about them because you want to keep giving them an excuse to be the way they are.

You telling me not to voice my opinion is pathetic.

Re: Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered Receives Its Very First Patch

Razer

@tatanga there are plenty of better racing games.

I stick by what i said, besides most those Arcade racers are developers that EA have taken over and they haven't made good games in the better part of a decade.

So no again i don't agree. It would have been better if those companies were never purchased by EA...

We may still be getting good burnout and need for speed games.

Re: Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered Receives Its Very First Patch

Razer

@nessisonett i agree about third parties, hell im even ok with 2k, i buy their games. But on EA, sorry i don't agree.

The video game industry as a whole would be better off if EA died.

Their games bring nothing to the Switch and in fact, i would go so far as to say, particularly their FIFA gambling games. It would be best if we got no FIFA at all.

It won't effect the Switch's success one bit. Their games may help shift PS4s/5 and Xboxes but at this stage, with the dribble their are putting on the Switch. Their games add absolutely no value to the Switch at all.

The Switch wouldn't have sold any more or less if we get FIFA or not.

In many cases they even go out of their way to highlight Nintendo's shortcomings in the power department. Legacy versions indeed.
