I think they could do 3, if they got Panic Button on the case.

I don't think it'll happen though, not sure how well the Remastered sold but if it did numbers as well as Skyrim, then we'd have seen more support surely, like Bethesda put nearly all their games on the Switch because Skyrim and Doom 2016 are probably low key the best selling ports on the Switch (along with Witcher 3).

But i don't the DS Remastered sold nearly as well.

Which is probably why we haven't had a single game from the developers since. Or even word of a game.

But there is indeed an argument to be made for Nintendo forcing people to purchase two Switch consoles to for 2 people to play one Animal Crossing game.

@ballistic90 I'll come back to this comment in a few months time when it becomes apparent that the end of the stock shortages for the Xbox and PS5 have relegated the Switch to 3rd in every territory outside of Japan.

It's already happened in the UK, the rest of the west will soon follow as PS5 and Xbox stocks catch up to demand.

Don't fool yourself into thinking the Switch would have been selling this well if it wasn't for the pandemic and the stock shortages that have blighted the other two.

That free ride is about to come to an end.

GBA barely had 3 years on the market before the DS showed up, it sold more units in nearly half the amount of time than the 3DS.

In fact the 3DS had 7 years on the market and sold less than the GBA did in just over 3 years.

Microsoft and Bethesda have had a decent show. Im excited to see what happens there.

Nintendo use to be dominant in the handheld department until mobile cannibalised their market share.

Why do you think they had to merge both departments?

Their Home consoles were being hammered by EVERYONE and mobile was eventually going to kill their handheld departments.

3DS was their WORST selling handheld console ever and it was only down hill from there.

The Switch has saved them (for now) but while Nintendo does stupid stuff like this, they will never dominant this industry like they use too and the wolves will ALWAYS be at their doorstep.

@Narrator1 yeah Nintendo can't genuinely view Sony as competition because they genuinely have no chance against them because of ridiculous stuff like this.

Of course they had to stop seeing them as competition, of course they had to attempt to do their own thing.

Because Sony have been battering Nintendo in the come console department for over 2 decades now.

After the PS1 and PS2 Nintendo didn't want anything to do with competition against Sony.

and while Nintendo continue to do these ridiculous practices, that will never change they will always play second or even 3rd fiddle.

This is the reason why Nintendo will never actually dominate the gaming industry, they will always have competition in that arena.

Because there will always be people that will refuse to accept Nintendo's stupid and anti consumer practices.

Sony consoles will always outsell Nintendo ones while Nintendo does this kind of idiocy.

It's a prediction.

I'm not taking it down, i think BOTW 2 and Metroid Prime 4 will be coming at the end of the Switch's life and will be cross gen with Nintendo's next console.

When will we get MK9?

When MK8 isn't constantly in the top 10 best selling games week in week out.

If Nintendo calls the console New Nintendo Switch, it'll actually sell far less than they expect because small kids and parents won't know the difference.

Most parents with children between 6-10 have a Switch as a family console but they won't know there is a new model available. They won't pay attention to Nintendo's idiocy.

Honestly i think it's quite silly to sit there completing a 10 hour game 9 times just for minor rewards.

Botw2 will also be cross gen with their next console. Bet money. All big Zelda games since TP have been cross gen anyway, TP was at the end of GC's life and also came on the Wii, Skyward Sword did the same thing. Came at the end of the Wii's life and was also on Wii U....

BOTW ALSO did the same thing...

I mean what better way to kick off a new console than with two highly anticipated 1st party games? This is what they have been doing for years

Did Cyberpunk 2077 not just happen? Or maybe you don't mind a mess of a game?

Game development doesn't take 2 years like it use too, times have changed.

On average you're looking at 3 years for mid level games these days, 4-5 tends to be where the bigger games take.

Lets put it this way, if we see a Metroid Prime 4 on the Switch, 100% it'll be a cross gen game with their next console and it'll come at the end of the Switch's life.

@russell-marlow also in my honest opinion, from my perspective.

Its actually quite shallow to sit there and repeatedly complete a 10 hour game 8 or 9 times just for extra stuff that gives no tangible benefits.

Especially when there's better things you can spend your time doing...

RPGs are my favourite types of games, Zelda too. I like big open world experiences, but I'm also keen on Dark Souls style games too (Nioh, Sekiro... ect) for example

I like Indie games like Hollow Knight, Dead Cells, Hades, Into The Breach ect...

I also racing games, fighting (Smash) and strategy games too... i do enjoy some FPS games too but has to be good, Doom was decent.

But no im not gonna sit there and complete a side scrolling game repeatedly just for the sake of having all the extras but no tangible benefit to my character.

I prefer to do those things in racing games and fighting games. Not side scrolling beat em ups.

@russell-marlow no i definitely do, i own all the best indie games actually or at least a good few of them.

But games, regardless of Indie or AAA have to be worth the money i spend on them otherwise i can't justify having spent that money.

For me justification is 1 hour for £1. I have to be able to get 1 hour of gameplay for every £1 i spend. This is minimum.

A £50 game would need to give me at least 50 hours of gameplay.

If i spend £50 on a game and beat it in under 40 hours i would consider that overpriced.

it's not that the game is bad, but the game would then be overpriced for the content thats available

An example of this would be Astral Chain, while a great game, it lacked content, i beat it in 30 hours, great game overall, I'd definitely consider buying a sequel. But not worth the £45 price tag.

But how you view games as worth it or not is subjective and everyone has their own way of calculating that.

Nah honestly im past caring, i haven’t touched the game in over a year and i actually have no reason too.

I mean, few days ago my mrs asked me what the best selling Fire Emblem game was and i honestly had to tell her it was Smash Ultimate.

What else could i say? Its the truth.

Lets be real, we know that there will be another Fire Emblem character in Super Fire Emblem Bros Ultimate....

@basswitch yeah i dunno i don't really go after getting everything for the sake of just having it.

I mean in RPG games i do that, because finding new rare stuff upgrades my characters and makes me more powerful.

Like for example, Mario Odyssey was a huge waste of money for me, i didn't really care about getting all the moons just for the sake of having them.

I wasn't getting any tangible benefit from doing that so i just didn't bother. So i spent 15 hours on Mario Odyssey and i hear people are able to spend 150 hours on Odyssey, which i can't even fathom.

I guess this is in the same vein. I mean i wouldn't of bothered unlocking all the characters on Smash if it wasn't for that cheat lol.

@basswitch i enjoy these types of games but it's really a one and done for me, after i beat the game once I'm not interested in dipping back in.

I mean how many times did you beat the game in 100 hours? Because I'm sure you must have beaten it a good few times if you have 100 hours clocked.

Hades cost me £22 and I've sunk over 100 hours into it.

So Hades is more than worth it, in fact i would pay £50 for a game like Hades.

I beat the game in under 10 hours and got everything i needed from it in under 10 hours.

The game cost £20.

So not worth it for me, but good for you that you managed to get 30 hours of gameplay.

But for me, it was a dud.

Like Ori And The Blind Forest, cost £30, completed it in under 20. Fun game but not worth the cost.

I finished the base game, was fun but very short, did the game in under 10 hours.

Imo a for a game to merit its cost, it needs to be £1 for 1 hour.

So a £50 game has to give me 50 hours of gameplay or it doesn't merit its cost.

Unfortunately this game, as fun as it was, never merited its cost.

@SwitchVogel the Dark Souls franchise seems to get no love on Nintendo platforms.

The remaster we got didn't sell well and even the comments section indicated that the majority of Nintendo fans had no desire for those types of games.

Many people were asking FromSoft to make an exclusive game for Nintendo that wasn't so dark and unsettling.

Personally i love (or loved their games until they shoved that same formula they've been using down our necks on 6 games in 10 years).

But yeah in short there is, seems the Dark Souls franchise is one that seems Nintendo fans done care for.

CDPR need to move as far away from Cyberpunk 2077 as they possibly can.

A good way to do that would be to put more focus on what made them successful to begin with. The Witcher franchise.

I'm not interested in a bigger XL Switch. The one we have is easily big enough.

I mean if this actually does turn out to be the case then i probably wouldn't bother with it unless my existing joy cons fit.

If i need new joy cons for the bigger screen then yeah, hard pass for me.

Calm down everyone. This isn't hacking, its surprise borrowing mechanics.

I really don't care about this, EA are responsible for destroying thousands of lives through their practices, i would love it if EA just went out of business.

The people working for them can eventually move on but EA existing will do more long term damage than killing them off sooner.

They'll buy more studios, kill them off and cost those people their jobs, in fact had EA died long ago, the industry would be more diverse and bigger now.

I know it won't happen but i hope this eventually leads to circumstances that will put this company out of business.

But I'll be honest, the moment i read Ubisoft exclusive, i knew it had to be a sequel to Mario & Rabbids. First game sold quite well and is still considered one of the best 3rd party exclusive games available on the Switch (not that there are many anyway).
