In terms of value for money, the service is decent, but it doesn't appeal to gamers at all, on face value it's something parents will get for their kids because of the value for money it offers.
But in terms of giving the fans what they want, it doesn't even come close.
It's essentially Nintendo choosing what older games they think we want and being consistently wrong about it again and again.
They uploaded this again in hopes that the gaming community will not bother mass disliking it this time.
That hasn't worked and all it's actually done is bred more contempt from Nintendo to its fans. Nintendo knows it's the gaming community that come online to dislike their video's. Nintendo's main target audience is parents and children, they do cater to adult gamers too but their main focus is kids and parents.
Kid's and parents don't try and rip Nintendo's IPs, they don't mod their Switches, they don't homebrew, they don’t make roms and emulators, they dont get DNC'd by Nintendo.
The gaming community however literally has every single one of those things, which is great. But Nintendo hates us, they wish they could get parents and kids in the same numbers they had for the Wii consistently, so they can totally abandon the gaming community.
Unfortunately the Wii U showed them that the market they feel most comfortable in catering too (casual, kids and parents), actually isn't too reliable and if gamers say the product is bad then parents and casuals wont buy it for their kids.
Nintendo has shown a ridiculous level of contempt and dislike for the gaming community, especially recently but they know they need to continue to cater to that community.
But gamers and Nintendo will ALWAYS be at odds with each other, because Nintendo HATE what they gaming community want to do with their IPs.
They've released multiple games on the Switch giving short time frames between announcement and release.
Except Bayonetta 3, which is obviously going so well that they don’t even need to actually work on it, it's creating itself. They can just spend their time making other games.
I stand by what i said before about this game when i first saw they were going to port it over.
The Window for these games closed around 2018 imo, Skyrim, Dark Souls, Dragons Dogma all came out around then with i believe Dark Souls being the last one. This is exactly the same type of game as those, albeit much lesser quality. (Witcher 3 came out later, on a new hardware generation to those other games so i can't include it)
Had this game came out then it would have even scored a solid 7, possibly 8, but it's honestly late to the party and not worth the asking price at this stage.
The annoying thing about this app is it genuinely could have been good if Nintendo implemented it better, with more functionality and made it easier for 3rd parties to use.
If they essentially put more effort in this, it could have actually worked, i mean i do use discord on my phone while i play games so im not totally alien to the concept of using my phone as a 3rd communication device for video games.
But the issue is how badly this has been implemented and the sheer lack of effort put into makes me wonder why Nintendo even bothered.
I'll actually believe this when it actually has a solid date attached to it, i want a Switch Pro but Nintendo's window of opportunity to release one is really thin.
At this rate they're leaving it so late that it'll be much like the "New 3DS" and it'll be pointless because most developers were already making games for the original 3DS.
There were a handful of games that benefited from the increased power under the hood in the 3DS because Nintendo were just so late in actually releasing it. Only 2 years later it was replaced by the Switch.
They would change absolutely nothing about the game, they would add absolutely nothing to the 20 year old games and they would charge you full price for it.
But because it isn't Nintendo, it's okay, because nobody else are that lazy.
@johnvboy
NES mini = prints money - taken off market.
SNES mini = Prints money - taken off the market.
Virtual console = Prints Money - basically gone at this point, unavailable on the Switch.
3D Mario All Stars = Prints Money - about to be taken off the market
Super Mario Bros 35 = attracts subscribers to an already skinny online subscription service - about to be taken offline.
I could go on but yeah i see what you mean, i mean why would a company who likes to make money, NOT remove products that make them money.
That makes perfect sense. 🤪
Now excuse my while i go shoot down these flying pigs who are trying to blow my house down.
Nintendo doesn’t really like money, im also 90% certain they dislike the majority of their customer base too. I wonder if they're about to pull another Wii U and we're about to show them who pays their bills again.
@rallydefault you can rest assured that i haven't missed anything worth playing because any game that looks like it was made for 3DS.
Plays like a generic JRPG that you literally get from one of those mid 00s RPG generators.
Yeah no developer worth half their salt would attempt to charge their fans full price for such little effort.
But Square is fully aware that the starved for games shills on the Nintendo fandom will lap up literally anything and defend the ridiculous price tags.
Like they did when they defended cardboard for £90....
It's pathetic. The majority of people on this website embody those shills to a tee.
I love how to the run up of this game, everyone defended the artistic direction.
But when it actually comes down to coughing up money to support that direction, people's tune of music quickly change.
From the demo till now i will always maintain, this game genuinely looks like it shouldn't cost more than £15 like other indie games. It does not warrant the price tag of a full AAA game because it really simply is NOT a full AAA game.
I may buy it but im waiting too see how it controls. I never enjoyed waving my arms around to play games on the Wii and i hated this game more than most others for it.
I wanna see how it'll be in handheld mode, so I'm definitely not about to pre order that.
@Casual_Gamer95 yeah this along with Skyrim and The Witcher 3 probably did sell quite well, hence why we've had continuous support from both developers behind both games, unfortunately CDPR doesn't have as much to offer as the other two. We also got Overwatch from Blizzard too.
I'd actually venture to guess that Diablo 3, Skyrim and The Witcher 3 are low key the best selling 3rd party ports on the Switch. We know that The Witcher 3 sold 750k copies within 3 months of being on the Switch, that was before that pandemic and we've not had numbers since but I'd guess it'll be well over 2m by now.
Both Skyrim and Diablo 3 more than likely have more.
Yeah i didn't really enjoy it on the Wii i remember it released around same time as Skyrim, but it was honestly a joke in comparison to Skyrim.
Yeah im not really sure id spend £50 on a 10 year old sub par game. Also if i remember correctly it was a very short game with a low amount of content, i don't even think the price would justify the amount of game you would get.
I would prefer Twilight Princess and Wind waker HD.
That should be good too but look at when that was announced till now? The time frame seems to be more like 6 months, they announced 3D World at the 35th Mario Anniversary.
MonHun was announced around the same time.
So by that time frame, it's safe to assume that Nintendo has nothing else planned for at least until July this year. Because if they were gonna drop a game in June or July, they surely would have announced something by now.
This companies downfall has literally been unprecedented in any industry. It's literally one thing after another now. A none stop spiral into certain obscurity.

Yeah I'm getting it. Never played before but i slogged the demo out a bit and got use to the controls.
Can't wait.

Surprised it lasted as long as it did actually.
Re: Review: Beach Buggy Racing 2: Island Adventure - A Surprisingly Decent Alternative To Mario Kart
This is a mobile game you can download for free.
To be fair though, it is probably the best mobile racing game ever, so i can see the appeal of it coming on the Switch, but to pay for it? Gtfo.

So how about in handheld mode?
Because im not interested in how the gameplay on this game looks in handheld mode.
Re: Nintendo Reportedly Gearing Up For Record Switch Sales This Year
Yeah right, they'll get good sales but the only unannounced games we'll get will be old ports of games already available on other systems.
Because those are still games and many have yet to be announced so technically, they are completely right.
Nintendo have always been good with their wording and the shills here will lick it up like it's the last drops of custard left in the world.
Re: Nintendo Reportedly Gearing Up For Record Switch Sales This Year
@kingbk And at that moment, you woke up?

Because pokemon cards will go up in value, but im 100% certain digital cards you purchase over a video game will never come close.

@CammyUnofficial thats short sighted.
They were fine when the Wii was around. But then their success bred hubris, which then lead them to the Wii U.
Then they weren't doing fine at all.
What im saying is, they are making the same mistakes they made when they were coming off the success of the Wii and into the failure of the Wii U.
Hopefully they can avoid doing that but unfortunately Nintendo have a terrible track record with that.

Re: Video: Bravely Default II Gets New Battle Trailer Ahead Of This Month's Launch

It still looks like an upscaled 3DS port. It also looks terribly generic, like it's literally a game you would generate from a Random JRPG Generator.
Yeah hard pass for me.

@FluffiestP1llow go do your homework kid.

In the 1980s, Weaver was introduced to video games when he was asked by one of his engineers to look at a football game idea he was developing – Weaver felt it "was boring". His fix was a physics engine, bounded by football rules. They decided to produce the game, resulting in the formation of Bethesda Softworks. Re: Soapbox: I Wasn't Going To Play Monster Hunter Rise, But The Game Art Is Too Cute
@JaxonH you know the problem with commenting on a 2 week old topic?
You end up getting old news.
I've since gotten over the clunky controls, got to enjoy the demo and pre ordered the game. And I've mentioned that on various other topics.
You should move on and try not to reply to people on a 2 week old topic, if you want to comment then go ahead.
But don't drag others into you being late to the party.
Re: Nintendo Won't Be Announcing A New Switch Model "Any Time Soon"
Well this is bad news. My Switch is on it's last legs but i have no intention of replacing it unless an upgrade comes out.
I'm not buying 6 year old technology for £300, that's ridiculous. But no bother really, the PS5 is here and my attention has already shifted focus.
I'll probably be skipping the games now until a Switch 2 with backwards compatibility drops.
Re: Reminder: Enjoy Capcom's "Limited Time" Monster Hunter Rise Demo While You Still Can
It took me a while but i managed to get the hang of the controls. So yeah I'll be grabbing this when it drops.

Thats how much I've forgotten.
