I feel like I'd be down more the Mario Lego stuff if it just used the standard Lego art style but I find this really chubby look used for the Mario stuff to be pretty much uniformly hideous. It kind of looks okay on Toad of those but the rest are pretty offputting.
Surely somebody out there cares about the Squirrel on It's own. Surely, somebody.
i see they threw in an overweight yoshi. Nice.
The Nabbit looks cool, but I wish they'd just gone with minifigs with weird-shaped heads like Mickey and the Muppets did.
Say what you will about Mario LEGO sets, but it's pretty cool how characters in the series are brick-built (outside of the playable ones, for obvious reasons) instead of fundamentally non-LEGO-like minifigs with special parts.
It's a shame that they don't make the old series available when there's clearly demand for them.
Nabbit, seriously? :-/ Awful character
@Preposterous totally agree! I love that they went with bigger characters that you get to build! More detail, not just a lazy reskin of a minifig. I just cannot understand why so many comments in the Nintendo life community about Lego Mario come back to “I just wish they made normal sized mini figs”. Lego Mario is more creative and fun to build!
Yikes, they're in blind boxes instead of bags? Goodbye to feeling out the ones we want.
@Shift Saves me from looking like a lunatic at Target trying to get toad. This line is a big step up from the last one, with more different and interactive characters instead of just enemies you jump on. The penguin from the last series was good.
@MrGam3andBu1ld But now we'll have to buy box after box until we get Toad or whatever we individually want. I'd take looking a little silly over having to buy ones I don't need, especially duplicates.
...Not as terrifying as Mario, Luigi, and Peach, so whatever I guess.
EDIT: ...Is Lego Peach a thing? Can't remember, whatever. lol
