I've just seen that the Baldo devs have set up a Facebook group page for people to list any glitches they find. Almost sounds like it's an early access game for £25! Maybe I'll see how the game stands in year's time! Hopefully with SwitchUp doing a "patched up" look at it then.
So glad I chose to get Psychonauts 2 for my PS5 over this in the end!!
Such a shame the game mechanics here are so janky. Was looking forward to a older school Zelda like. Seems a pass for me (unless they do a hard revamp which I highly doubt)
Wasn't Starbreeze accused of money laundering and fraud a while back?! Why Double Fine initially dropped them as publisher for Psychonauts 2 and ended up with MS.
It's a real shame that it's launched like this.
Doesn't sound well optimised in general as even the new gen consoles appear to be 1080p 30fps.
I've also seen a few videos saying that the first dungeon is needlessly difficult because it's so unclear.
Will wait for a while to see if it gets fixed up (I can imagine SwitchUp will check it out again in their "Patched Up" series).
For now i'll go for Psychonauts 2 on my PS5 instead.
Sadly the Metroid games never clicked with me over the years Bbut have recently really got into Metroidvanias like the 2 Ori games and Yoku's Island Express so really hoping this might be the one to get me into the franchise.
@CharlieGirl totally feel the same way! Surely it'd be fairly simple to port the Legend/Anniversary and Underworld trilogy. Even the 2013 reboot Tomb Raider and Rise ran on Xbox 360!
The first two lines of the heading hyped me up a little too quickly thinking the Keeley Hawes games were Switch bound and was showing early footage xD
Really cool to see this footage. Those were the days where they made bespoke versions for the weaker consoles.
I had Legend on PSP (It was near on par with the PS2 game but with lower textures) and remember thinking how amazing it was to have a fully fleshed out Tomb Raider game handheld. Also got the HD collection on PS3.
Very intrigued by the game after seeing Cyndaquil return (was my starter in Gold on GBC, so very fond memories)
It's it bad of me though to say I hope that maybe Bandai Namco pop in to help Game Freak with it!? Granted New Pokemon Snap is linear and has the occasional slow down, framerate hiccup. But to me the game looks so much better than Sw/Sh! We need that chimchar we saw in the trailer to be running higher than 5fps! xD
Own 9 of those 10 games listed. A decade ago I would never have touched those types of games. Guess as you get older, you just yearn for more chilled vibes.
(also have Littlewood too which is very relaxed and wholesome 👍)
@stinky_t sadly I don't think it is. I remember seeing the reveal trailer on Nintendo's own YouTube channel and thought it looked great. Then went on to search gameplay footage from Switch to double check.... and it looked a blurry mess :/ Could be patched up for all I know by now though!
Not gonna lie! That white dock looks nice! And would go so well next to my PS5 xD
My concern are these 480p res games (and lower) on an OLED. If there was a slight boost to make them stay native 720p res that would have been nice. And if this is £100 more than a standard switch... Nope! i'll stick to my original 2017 model. Still going strong!
I like my golf games, but If it's going to have a similar free updates rollout as Mario Tennis Aces did, then I am just going to wait for a bit. Got Aces at launch and felt it was barebones and dropped off quick, but loading it up around a year or so later it was alot more fleshed out. So maybe this will be the same.
Never used to be into the Metroidvania genre, but then I played Yoku's Island Express and really enjoyed it. Then Ori and the Blind Forest... Loved it! And currently playing Will of the Wisps and consider it a masterpiece. And I got all 3 games in eshop sales (Yoku around £3-4, Ori 1 & 2 for £10 each!) absolute steals! Hoping I like Metroid Dread if I get it once it releases 🤞
Nice for Switch owners to have the option (although would prefer if was part of a Netflix/Game Pass style subscription model rather than £40 a go) If it's true that the PS5 version will be free as part of PS Plus for July, I'll be playing A Plague's Tale over there.
Bought Jenny LeClue a while back for £3 in a sale after it was recommended in the comments of an article here about the best point n clicks. Really enjoyed the narrative and art style. Hoping the devs will make a sequel.
@anoyonmus That's what I was saying... It won't be at the direct. But just noted it could generally exist outside of it pre or post E3. Additionally I also said "Tbh in all seriousness, I don't expect a new upgraded console anytime soon." so we seem to be on the same page. I agree with @BanjoPickles that the current switch still has a good life span.
Just because the E3 Direct is software focused doesn't rule out a Switch Pro generally... Watch how Nintendo just randomly drop a trailer of the Pro on Friday, completely out of the blue xD Didn't that happen with the Lite?
Tbh in all seriousness, I don't expect a new upgraded console anytime soon. Looking forward though to seeing what will be on show at the E3 Direct! Hoping some BotW 2 details or even just another trailer.... Another Mario Strikers from Next Level Games maybe!
Clearly watching too much Digital Foundry as I saw the gif and immediately thought that it looks like the character is floating across the screen due to the lack of shadow of the skateboard and motion from the puddle when riding over it xD
Loved the originals on PSone so might check this out.
@Inc @TheWingedAvenger The devs are Italian... Baldo means Bold in Italian. Perhaps a copyright/trademark issue not being able to have it as "Bold" in English so stuck with the original native language name.
Really excited for Clive N' Wrench! (hoping the release will be relatively soon) Been watching the dev's videos on his YT channel (Dinosaur Bytes)... Super cool he's got Trowser from Yooka Laylee as a cameo. Will definitely be supporting this game!
Far too excited for this game for my own good! Waited 20 years for the sequel! Even still have my OG N64 copy boxed in near mint condition
Should have hit the WiiU back in the day, but happy to see on Switch with its wider user base. Hopefully will do well enough to warrant further sequels. (that wont take another 20 years)
The premise of this sounds really cool! It being "live" and having creatures from Jim Henson's workshop! Awesome stuff! Definitely gonna chip in on Kickstarter for a physical Switch copy and told my friends to come over in Feb 2022 for a Game Night in my home cinema (hopefully by then we can see people in each others homes!)
Even if it turns out a bit lacklustre, happy to try and help others bring their creative ideas to life
Finally! My name is finally getting main character representation in games! Although I am not French, but Italian, so a fake unlike this maze detective xD
The art style is cool, but was it just me or were the backgrounds jittery as if there were frame drops? It made me feel quesy. Even the twitter post vid seems to have the same motion.
@StuartGipp I didn't realise that function existed for quite a while!
It was only when I was pressing I think up on the D-pad to move the camera back as I felt it was way too close to Ty that I tried the other buttons and suddenly the map became huge. From there on It was my go to when driving around the overworld.
Thankfully my 2017 V1 Switch hasn't had any glaring issues (tis a US console, I'm from UK, doubt there's any difference in production line though) I use Hori Split Pad for handheld play due to all the joycon drift.
A friend recently bought himself the Monster Hunter console as his V1 console battery was lasting less than an hour for any game. And he's had a Switch a year less than me. Thought he was a bit mad to double dip when there's surely going to be a Pro announced soon.
@PhilKenSebben oh I wasn't dissing the game itself in any way. It's a very well done port by QLOC! I am just suggesting eyes on EA themselves now to provide further support considering one of their games has done very well. They can't say people aren't buying their games.
Heads up Stuart, you may want to amend the minimap dilemma marked as a negative.
You can click left/right on the d-pad whilst driving and exploring areas to change the map size.
There's like five variations, with 3 taking up the entire screen, zoomed it at different amounts, and is translucent so you can maintain driving.
Played the entire game handheld and the large maps helped navigation alot!
The sound in Super Mario Party totally confused me and my friends when we first played the game.
We'd hear this unusual sound so we tried to find a speaker in the joycon xD
Damn! Didn't realise the launch price is $30.
I got it for £15 I think when backing on Kickstarter.
Ty 1 is the better game I feel. More in line with other 3D platformers like Banjo... Ty 2 takes a weird turn... But still excited to play.
Never played 3, but I don't think it originally released in the EU region
Very excited for this. Been a long 20 year wait.
But surprised there's no integration with the Labo VR camera. It would be a perfect fit! and a game/labo camera bundle could have been nice bonus.

Re: This Week's New Pokémon Snap Update Also Includes Quality Of Life Improvements
Fantastic! Nice QoL fixes.
I thought the game was great already, excited to play the new levels after work.
Also bought Snap for my 6yr old nephew for his birthday next week as he's getting a Switch. So these fixes and new levels is great!
Re: Sega Shares New Trailer And Screenshots For Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania
@Broosh @Tandy255 I see! Is there quite a big difference between Target in 1 and 2?
i've only ever played Monkey Target on SMB1.
(Thankfully I still have my GC with a Kaico HD adapter and copy of SMB1 if Target ends up a bit meh in Banana Mania)

There's even a screenshot.
