Update: It's now been announced that Effie's special edition will launch for Nintendo Switch on 1st October 2021 and will include a specially designed case, a concept art book with concept drawings from the dev team, and a poster of the game's hero, Galand.
You'll be able to get your hands on it from selected European specialist retailers next month, so make sure to keep an eye out if you're interested!
Original Article (Tue 13th Jul, 2021 10:00 BST): Effie, the Ratchet & Clank and Yooka-Laylee-inspired 3D action-adventure game from developer Inverge Studios, will soon be treated to a fancy physical edition release thanks to Meridiem Games.
The new release, which will be called Effie - Galand’s Edition, will include a specially designed case, a concept art book showcasing how the game's design came to be, and a poster of the title's bearded hero, Galand. You can get a quick glimpse of it at the end of the new trailer above, or look at it in even more detail in the image below.
Effie launched digitally on the Switch eShop this April and will join Meridiem Games' European boxed lineup this autumn. If you haven't played this one before, here's an official description taken from the eShop:
Effie is a 3D action-adventure game that combines the classic elements of the genre, such as combat, platforming and puzzles, with the exploration of an expanded world. In the game, we play as Galand, a young man in his quest to recover his youth after a witch cursed him with premature old age. A powerful black magic controls the cities of the region of Oblena and to face evil, we will carry a magic shield called Runestone. This shield has a very important role in our adventure because it will be our only weapon and tool. It will allow you to defend yourself, to fight and to surf across the red grassland.
Delve into the adventure of Galand, a young man in his quest to recover his youth after a witch cursed him with premature old age. Defeat all the sinister creatures, overcome all the platforming challenges and solve the most complex puzzles!

First time I heard of this game. Looks quite promising!
I do like Ratchet and Clank, and I do like Indie titles, so I'll definitely keep this on my radar.
Box art looks utter rubbish.
That amazing poster of that well known character is just what I needed to tempt me into buying this game!
Looks quite charmless.
And I have to agree with @Lord, box art is a total miss.
I do like a good platformer, so here is hoping this gets good reviews, because nothing else will make me play this.
Is it official that this game is inspired by Ratchet & Clank and Yooka Laylee?? Because I would be very surprised...
It looks good, though!
That trailer looks gorgeous, especially in the opening. I really hope that's running on a Switch. I'm not convinced that's running on a Switch
Finally a game coming which doesn't have Japanese animation style! Looks fun. Looking forward to it.
Looks interesting but how can you claim 'Ratchet & Clank inspired' when you have no gunplay at all?
@stinky_t sadly I don't think it is.
I remember seeing the reveal trailer on Nintendo's own YouTube channel and thought it looked great. Then went on to search gameplay footage from Switch to double check.... and it looked a blurry mess :/
Could be patched up for all I know by now though!
@Perryg92 that's a real shame. At least at this point we know what to expect from a Switch release
Wow. This new Witcher spinoff looks interesting.
Agree with all these comments. Looks more like KNACK than RATCHET & CLANK....
@stinky_t The Switch version seems to be a terrible port a half decent game.
From one review..
"However, in its current state, I simply cannot recommend playing Effie on Switch; its technical issues are too grave and crippling to make it a rewarding and non-frustrating experience"
Wow. Great characterers. Fun looking platforming and cool looking bosses and great looking worlds. The total opposite of rachet and clunk. This is what the game should have been. Not the buggy boring mess that it is. A small indie company blows away a AAA title from Sony. Hopefully if the game plays good. This will be a great title.
@Ogbert Yeah looks closer to Legend of Kay if I had to compare it to a platformer with Melee combat.
@michellelynn0976 how was Ratchet and Clank in anyway a bad game?
This looks nothing like Ratchet & Clank whatsoever
Removed - unconstructive feedback
Looks nothing like Ratchet and Clank or Yooka-Laylee, looks more like if the Legend of Zelda got turn into a 3D platformer and Link got old while Zelda became the bad guy.
@Sjmaster repetitive gameplay, bugs, tired formula, and generic characters. This isn't the same fresh and edgy game it started as.
@Ogbert That's the most annoying part when you describe your game. To make a reference to a game you inspired from.
Well the trailer looked nice. This is the first I’ve heard of this title and I also got a witcher vibe from the looks of the main character. I’d consider getting this if it plays well on switch.
Not feeling it.
I own this on PS4 and Switch digitally. I really like the fact that this isn't a Limited Run *****. Hopefully anyone who wants it can get it without dealing with resellers and impulse buying! I'd be interested if it came stateside. Good on them.
