Literally squeezing in the day before the end of financial year. WB needs something on their books! Hopefully TT not being forced to release if not fully polished.
Nonetheless looks great! Now the decision whether to get it on Switch or PS5.
What a slap in the face to fans. Cloud version and the absurd price point! Granted I have all the games already on the native consoles and PS4 so I can just play them there, but I felt I had to message my friend who works at Square to express my disgust. Not much he can do as he's just a localisation person, but perhaps he can spread the word through the offices
Overall a good game, and in the main enjoyed with friends. But I did fill in the questionnaire telling them that the physics in Monkey Target are super weird and feels like the landing spots are miles away and takes forever to reach. Also said it would be nice to have multiplayer in story mode like the original did. Atm pulling out my GC whenever my friends want to play all the levels competitively together.
THQ Nordic's new strategy to have their games periodically in the eshop charts for wider visibility? NGL I did buy Saint's Row IV when it was £2.44 and probably will buy this too. if it is THQ Nordic's strategy, wonder what's next? A Darksiders? Spongebob Battle for Bikini Bottom?
I like tycoon games like RCT3, so Parkasaurus has peaked my interest... seems to be highly regarded on steam too, so hopefully runs well on Switch. Endling looks good too, but sounds potentially heartbreaking!
Literally just listening to IGN's NVC podcast right now and they were wondering if a Nindie Direct would appear as a result of nothing at the Game Awards..... et voila! I wonder if Bear & Breakfast will reappear.
Would be hilarious if GTA V was one of them and ran on par with the PS4/Xbox One versions, and immediately superior to the "Definitive" Trilogy (not that it's hard to surpass ).
Grove Street Games would then be in even deeper shizzle! xD
I'd personally love a Psychonauts double pack.
Would double dip to play the 2 games portable.
I ordered my separate white dock from Nintendo UK all the way back when the OLED system launched in October.
Admittedly it only arrived last week, but yeah, it's been available (for UK people at least) for quite a while now.
The dock itself is very nice! Build quality much better than the original and feels more premium. Looks good next to my PS5. Just need the white joycons.
I loved Paper Mario on N64 back in the day! Happy to jump back in again.
Still dreaming we get a "Rare" surprise for NSO at Christmas. Banjo, Perfect Dark, Diddy Kong Racing, Jet Force Gemini, Blast Corps (and the very unlikely Goldeneye and Conker's Bad Fur Day).
@YusseiWarrior3000 Maybe check out the video first to make sure the game is up to snuff for you before you buy! There were no proper framerate graphs or resolution checkers in it to 100% confirm the improvements, but just going by that vid and some other people's comments that it's generally better. Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B164vG6ebXM
Just found a YT channel "NintendoSense" streamed the 3 games patched up a few hours.
Looks like fog has been added to 3 and SA.
Rain a bit less painful to the eyes.
Apparently a bit more stable in performance and resolution too.
I'm still gonna wait a few months to see if it gets cleaned up even more.
Doubt Rockstar will fix it massively, but hoping that MAYBE, just maybe a few months down the line, we'll be hearing in SwitchUps "Patched Up" vid series that GTA has been properly optimised now running native 720p handheld/1080p docked at locked 30FPS with fixes made to draw distance, those creepy character models etc.
Nothing for me in this sale... The PSN Black Friday sale on the other hand, that's the one that looks to be where my money will be going instead (so long as the discounts of the listed games are good).
Ahh, that's a shame. I saw this on the eshop the other day and immediately got Endless Ocean vibes from it. (that was such a chilled out game and thought it was amazing at the time that it could read music from your SD card in the Wii and play in game)
Never played KOTOR before, but always hear praise (especially from my brother in law, he loved the original Xbox release) so I've bought it for £7 after using some gold points. Super reasonable price!
Downloading now and looking forward to trying it out after work.
A precursor to how Kingdom Hearts will run on their cloud service?
I actually told a colleague at work (who's ex Square) how disappointed I am lately with a ton of their decisions for Switch, to which he replied "only lately?! jeez, they have been disappointing for a long time" .
Probably a good fit for the Switch BUT saddened that not even the Keeley Hawes trilogy (Legend/Anniversary/Underworld) has made the cut (surely could port the PS3 HD collection over?) let alone the 2013 reboot and Rise (which I would definitely double dip for).
Only played Mario Kart 64 and Mario Tennis so far and using the NSO wireless N64 controller and I've seen framerate drops in Mario Tennis a few times. The music disappears in Mario Kart 64, but only when I accidentally pressed L, pressed it again and the music resumed... So is that a feature you can turn it off and on? (I don't ever remember it in the original!)
Well this article headline was definitely one way for me to run and grab my switch to see if i was going mad thinking it was tomorrow! (already made the mistake this week of inviting friends over for a game night tomorrow, thinking Mario Party Superstars is out tomorrow when it's actually Friday! xD... At least we can try out MK64... We're N64 era kids)
@anoyonmus @YusseiWarrior3000 I was very clearly joking when I said it will be 540p. Thought my emoji would indicate it was a tongue in cheek joke. But obviously didn't work xD
@anoyonmus that's good to know. Let's hope Rockstar/Take Two don't cheap out on the physical carts. If they choose an 8GB cart for example, we'll have to download the remaining 17.4GB
I'll wait till Dec for the physical version (although I suspect they'll pull an LA Noire and ask you to download 16GB or more!) At least by then, we'll also have info on how it performs on Switch. Would be nice if it's like those screenshots, but expect stuff to be paired back a bit.
That opening immediately takes me back to my 10 year old self booting KH1 up on Christmas morning 2002, shaking with excitement when the CG cutscene started!
Such a shame Simple & Clean didn't make it into Smash. As someone who works with music rights in TV shows now, I dread to think how much the license fee was for it for it to have not made the cut!
Just like I wanted a first person found footage horror game playing as Toad after witnessing the splendour of a specific cutscene in Luigi's Mansion 3.... Give me a Blair Witch style Pokemon horror game any day! xD
A precursor to Pokemon's Cinematic Universe, First it was Detective Pikachu and now doing a "Step Up" style movie with Pokemon break dancing to this 25th anniversary soundtrack, battling it out with the elite 4 street dancers xD
@Turnips Nintendo of Europe said today that UK/EU will get 60hz for English language.
Nintendolife even reported it today.
Would you be playing in a different language? I think only then you'd have to play in 50hz
I'm expecting this to bump up another £18, exactly double of the original sub, to £36 And I'll be one of the muppets who accepts it because I want to play my favourite N64 games handheld.
Nice... Now just to let us know what kind of price hike and release this will be! i'm betting they'll announce it all the week after the AC direct (Fri 22nd) for a Monday 25th release.
A year ago I might have said no as I wasn't into the genre. BUT NOW since playing Ori 1 and 2 and absolutely adoring them, looks like i've gone a full 180 and is now a yes.
@Bunkerneath I have that exact console too! I registered a 3DS game on My Nintendo UK and it automatically put me in a prize pool. 100% didn't expect to win one. And I thought the toad one looked the best and went for that. Still have the box it came near mint with the AR cards unopened etc. I will never sell it! too pretty.
Check out Nintendo with the October combo hits! First Smash final fighter, then Metroid Dread/OLED Switch launch, now the AC direct on the 15th and N64/Megadrive games coming to Switch Online (hoping that's in the next week or so)
I was tempted to buy Smash and all of the DLC packs after the reveal of Sora yesterday (Big KH fan). But being out of the loop with Smash, I didn't realise that overall it's around £100 for everything! (base game, DLC packs and Mii Fighters) Granted there is a ton of content, but considering I played previous entries for only a few hrs overall, sadly Ultimate might remain a miss for me. (and yes I could just buy the base game and Sora standalone, we'll see!)
@Cyberbotv2 yeah there were meant to be high capacity 64GB carts available starting from 2020. Not heard of any games that utilise them though. Kingdom Hearts could have been the first!... But ofc Square cheaped out. Saber Interactive did an amazing job squeezing Witcher 3 onto the 32GB cart!
I personally really don't need these as I still have all of the games on their original consoles and the collections on PS3 and PS4.... But still! Seeing the Switch versions being revealed as cloud only was painful!
I kinda get it though. From memory 1.5 + 2.5 is 58GB on PS4. Cant fit that on a cart unless you cut the framerate back to 30fps and lower/compress the hell out of it! Although they could have worked from the PS3 versions and sold 1.5 and 2.5 separately (they are around 22GB each)
Damn 11pm! Had to do it the one time I need to be up at 4am the following day for a 10hr drive.
Time for outrageous, never gonna happen predictions! xD 1) Two Zelda Bundles - WWHD/TPHD in one, Oracle games and Minish Cap in another. 2)N64 Games come to NSO - Did a deal with Microsoft/Rare to have Banjo, Jet Force Gemini and Blast Corps back (Sadly Conker and Perfect Dark deemed too violent for NSO and Goldeneye too complicated legally) 3) Nearly all Tomb Raider games come to Switch - PS1 era titles in one bundle. Keeley Hawes Trilogy in another. Tomb Raider 2013 , Rise and Shadow don't make the cut. 4) Reveal of Next Level Game's new title (been a while since Luigi's Mansion 3) 5) Metroid Prime Trilogy shadow drop 6) To celebrate the 20th anniversary of GC, some titles have barebones HD ports (similar to Aksys's Star Wars games) drop on the eshop. Includes Eternal Darkness Lastly! The Sheik game by Retro is back in production but by Monolith Soft
Looks a very nice n sweet game, but now I feel there's going to be a succession of "Short Hike" a' likes now! First Haven Park (Which was alright) and now this. The fact it's published by Playtonic's new publishing arm is what has me more interested in it.
Ah yes! That totally reliable guy who pushed so hard that the Pro was a definite and when the OLED showed he was like "Well that's not what I was shown by my 'sources'"
Sure someone's already said what I am about to but, I personally think Nintendo should just remove online multiplayer games being gatelocked behind a paywall. Make that free again. But just have essentially Nintendo Classics Game Pass: GB, GBC, GBA. N64 maybe even GC games all in one place and you pay for that subscription. Even if that bumped up in price a bit, i'd bite.
@AG_Awesome I personally would say maybe no, but with the blending/transparency tools available on Colors I guess you could try to emulate the look. But the real thing with real paints would be better to duplicate Bob Ross. I found someone's done a landscape drawing with Colors: https://www.colorslive.com/details/4638250 Is that the kind of thing you'd like to draw? Maybe good to check out the colors site overall to get a vibe of the art you can create. This is the kinda stuff I have drawn (on 3DS) but alot of the features are the same if not more options on Switch. https://www.colorslive.com/details/4466876
I've had this for quite a while now as I was a backer. Overall it's good: the nub on the sonarpen is a bit unusual and I personally preferred the 3DS version because the resistive touch screen made drawing feel better (so not the devs fault), but it's nice to draw on a bigger, HD screen with Switch.
So just gave it a try and it seems to be mixed bag. Menu's you can hear a slight lag and when I tried out Skyward Sword HD, then there was a slight delay in sound when I swung the sword to hear Link's "Hyah". But then I tried Avicii Invector (Music Rhythm game) and it seemed pretty spot on.
Guess it's time to say farewell to my USB-C bluetooth adapter. It was a nifty lil thing. So tiny I more often than not forgot there was something attached . Hopefully there's no lag on the new official way.
Gameplay looks cool, but visually, I think I was spoiled with the Ori games because, I think it looks rather basic with some textures n stuff and shimmering/aliasing abound.
Still excited for it though!
