So, you could invalidate your warranty AND be blocked from playing Odyssey, OR you could buy a Wii which when coupled with Homebrew acts exactly so much better at this stage emulating numerous generations of consoles very well...
Either is not recommended however, since stealing games is exactly that, stealing, no grey area.
This is barely what I would call a 'solution'. Also, an over emphasis is placed on d-pads lately, what with most modern games requiring joysticks. Sure, some Indie games favour a d-pad, but those are few and far between - and in those instances the Pokken Tournament pad is a beast.
The great thing about it is why chooses? I've still my Wii, WiiU and Switch, so if I'm in the mood for Galaxy 1 or 2, SM3DW or Odyssey, it's game on. Odyssey is my fave as it stands today, but ask me tomorrow, things change. I think each has it's merits, each are both innovative and inspired. Solo I'm playing Galaxy or Odyssey, multiplayer SM3DW owns it. All 4 games 10 out of 10.
@Anti-Matter playing Galaxy 2 on my Wii just today, just for old times sake. Via a good set-up - I'm running component to a Samsung 19 LCD TV with Game Mode selected - it looks/runs as good today as I remember at launch. A decent set-up can be the difference between poor and premium.
People discussing being 'too easy' - point missed entirely. This is a game designed to be as difficult or as easy as required. It's an adventure game in the purest terms. This game - if any videogame can be - is a 10, 100%, Essential, whatever you want to call it.
@Minotaurgamer "not a great game"!? It may not be to your tastes, but nobody in their right mind could argue this isn't a great game. It already sits alongside the genuine classics and is my opinion once the dust settles will be even better received. A true masterpiece for the ages.
I'm always interested in these teardowns. Nice once again to see Nintendo pulling the strings and showing 'rival' developers how to properly manipulate hardware to it's advantage. Trolls will always point to where they believe the technical achievements suffer, but these few are to be reminded this is under a lab environment, 99.9% of us playing in real terms will only be blown away by what we are witnessing.
No screen-tearing and constantly changing (low) framerates here.
Can you imagine discussions akin to this being had at the headquarters of Sony and/or Microsoft? Not a chance. That's one reason Nintendo will always remain ahead of the curve and critically acclaimed the world over.
Not bad, great even when I consider roughly 12 'must have' games are available on said system, that equating to one for every month. That's not including the other games available which are plentiful and varied.
All talk of 'physical, physical, physical' coming from Gollums with Man-Caves makes my head spin. Sure, AAA games of large file sizes, but Indie games, a lot not even maxing 1gb...surely not?
Besides, try Slime-san, while not the original arguably the better game.
@Henmii I can see an argument for WiiU only owners being unhappy some Switch updates not making the transition. I'm one of the lucky who own said game for my Switch, but had I not been in this fortunate position, yes, I'd be irked somewhat.
Edit: oh, just like to say also this game is a masterpiece, incredible.
Pre-ordered the 'fan pack'. I was going to wait for reviews to drop, but who am I kidding? Worst this game is going to be is good, hopefully it's very, very akin it's predecessor.
I've played countless Zelda's, the only disappoinments home console and handheld have been (for me) Twilight Princess...and that is all. Even that still a near essential example of the genre in it's own right, but compared with other Zelda's the first I feel to be treading water.
I'd be the first to offer a Raspberry Pi as the alternative, but not in this case. This unlike the NES/SNES Classic is the real deal, zero emulation, 100% hardware.
Definitely a game I want, but not currently, particularly with the so many choice Indie titles pushing to the front on the line, and with Odyssey releasing soon...
@electrolite77 variety exists on both PS4/XB1 in abundance, my point however being owners of said systems rarely want variety but their 6 monthly franchise updated chav fodder.

@JaxonH the hell!?
Re: Worms W.M.D Will Bring Havoc to the Switch on 23rd November
Goodness. I'm definitely going to require a large SD card at some point in the near future should this trend continue.
Re: ARMS Version 4.0 Arrives on 16th November
@Bengals76 the hell!? To my knowledge these updates are free, so, little to complain about. If you want, SFV on the other hand...
Re: Review: Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon (3DS)
Too soon, truthfully, way too soon.
Re: Ubisoft Thinks The Next Console Cycle Isn't Far Away, So Where Does That Leave Switch?
No offence, but what Ubisoft thinks doesn't amount to much.
Re: The Results of the First Kirby Copy Ability Poll Are In
An actual interesting poll, if only to see different regions differing tastes.
Re: Deals: UK Retailer Tesco Is Offering 3 For 2 On amiibo
I turned down this opportunity. Proud of myself. Last thing I need in my life is more plastic tat.

Re: Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition Update Tackles Load Times and Framerate on Switch
This may have improved highlighted issues, but for me the WiiU version still remains definitive.
Re: Poll: Which is the Best Super Mario Game?
@gojiguy I don't say it's "far from my favourite", it's close, REALLY close. However...2D=SMW, 3D=SMG2.
Re: Poll: Which is the Best Super Mario Game?
I'll be damned if Yoshi's Island is a spin-off, it's literally Super Mario World 2.
Re: Captain Rainbow's Fan-Made Translation Patch Is Now Available For Testing
Kudos.

Re: Super Mario Odyssey Loses Out To Assassin's Creed Origins In UK Charts Race
Which game will be remembered in the hearts and minds of gamers long after the dust settles? Clue, it's NOT any Assassin's Creed.
Re: Review: Zombie Gold Rush (Switch eShop)
Isaac this ain't.
Re: Super Mario Odyssey Is The Best Rated Game Of All Time
Yeah, listen to Metacritic and Tony Hawk 2 is a better game than both Odyssey, Galaxy 1 & 2 AND Breath of the Wild.

Re: Out Today: Enticing Switch eShop Titles Arrive to Stretch Your Bank Account
@Axlroselm skipping Mario is a (bad) joke right...right?
Re: Out Today: Enticing Switch eShop Titles Arrive to Stretch Your Bank Account
This Is The Police looks semi-interesting/original, barring that...
Oh, 3 days left until Odyssey is among us.
Re: Video: So, Just How Red are the Super Mario Odyssey Joy-Con Controllers?
I'm happy with my original Neon bundled Joy Cons, that is until (if) Nintendo release some retro themed options...
Re: Review: Robo Army (Switch / Neo Geo)
@yeayeanaynay this basically. God help any games releasing within a 100 mile radius...
Re: Review: Robo Army (Switch / Neo Geo)
Another mindless button-masher, sorry, but it is. Choice is no bad thing but I'll save my pennies towards Odyssey thanks.
Re: Limited Run Games Will Publish Physical Copies of Indie Titles On Switch Next Year
Gollum types rejoice. I'm far happier - the price being right - with digital. Convenience and space saving.

For year 1 I'd score it B+

Re: Video: Check Out Nintendo's Fabulous Live Action Super Mario Odyssey Musical
This is a perfect example when Nintendo chooses to go all out the competition pails.
Re: The Inevitable SNES Classic Mini Hack Is Now Complete
Nintendo could have released the SNES Classic with 50 of the (arguably) best games released, fact is, people still would have griped.
Re: Feature: The Biggest Nintendo Switch Retail Games of 2017 - Fall / Winter Edition
So wait, I'll be playing both Odyssey and Chronicles 2 before Xmas...
Eeeeeeekkk!
An (very) honorable mention goes out to Axiom Verge. Now, if only Undertale would get a Switch release...
