Team17 has been offering some decent support for the Switch eShop with upcoming releases, and the next to arrive will be Worms W.M.D. The publisher has confirmed that the turn-based battler will be arriving on Switch on 23rd November.
It should be a pretty good edition, with Team17 previously confirming new content and goodies that'll be found on the Switch. Beyond that the company has also confirmed a download size of 4.6GB and pricing of £19.99 / 29,99€ / $29.99.
Will you be tempted to dig into this one next week?

Great!!!
Worms has been around for ages hasn't it?
THE multiplayer game. And with 2 players in handheld, this means hours of fun.
Yey seriously can’t wait love worms definitely missed a 3ds version so very pleased about a switch one
Oh jeez surprise release, its driving me a bit mad having all these random announcements haha
Also 4.6 GB is a little much for worms no? That's about as big as Snake Pass is, I'm running out of space.
I just can’t keep up. Definitely want it one day, maybe Christmas.
Only if custom maps are still a thing in this version. lol
Too ... busy with ... all those games ... can't take ... all of this ... at once.
Might purchase, would be great at chrimbo
oh that is cool. Stuck between Xenoblade2 and the Ninokuni2/MH: World combo. But these are mostly gap fill games you play between actual game releases so good to have there on reserve.
@dharmajones93 Their answer to a question on Twitter about physical release: "We're currently working with our partners @soldout to see if we can make that a reality."
@Kalmaro me and my friend played the hay out of the SMD version back in the day. And my father was even into Worms 3D for a while.
Yuck $30?? 20 at the most guys cmon
Is that 10 difference between the pound and $/Euro new? I thought it was closer to 5, or maybe only 2 or 3 on $30.
@nhSnork I remember it fondly from back when I was in middle school. Good times.
$30 and nearly 5GB? Pass for now.
Please create physical release
I won't be able to hold out until a physical release. Day one for me.
Always a great party game.
Heh. Worms beat Yooka Laylee to the Switch.
@rjejr Its closer to €2 in the difference. £20 = €22.30 at the moment. Bit of a rip off on that front. If it was €20 I'd probably buy it but not shelling out €30 based on a crap exchange rate.
Edit: And £20 = $26 or so.
Finally! Been waiting an absolute age for this.
@Kalmaro I hope you don't mean to say that like it is a bad thing...
@Kalmaro Well, there's entries on the SNES and Mega Drive/Genesis....
Well that's a bit expensive...
Maybe if I can get it for 15-20€ on some obscure eshop, I'll buy it.
@Angelic_Lapras_King And WAY before that on the Commodore Amiga, it's original platform. Not that surprising, seeing as ALL Team 17 games started their lives there...
@ThanosReXXX Allow me to point you to here
So many games! And they're not shovelware! This is honestly the best holiday I can remember for a Nintendo system.
Is this getting a physical release? (please say yes!)
@GrailUK Not as of yet, they are working with a publisher to hopefully make it happen, but for now it’s digital only.
£20 for Worms is a bit steep, back in the day it was great, but they haven’t really done much to bring the game forward. As long as you have people to play it with, it can still be fun though.
@Kalmaro I did add a smiley, meaning it was tongue in cheek. I already read that other comment of yours.
On a side note: having enjoyed it in the past, doesn't exclude you being tired of/not being interested in the series now, so your comment could still be interpreted as such.
Hoo boy, $30 is a bit steep, but I have not played Worms for some time. I will put this in the "will pick up as soon as on sale" file. This game is a MUST have for me.
Owwwwww, another release that I must have. I love this series. So many games this month!
Holy jeez, I wasn't expecting it so soon!
It'll have to wait for now, along with Rive. Rocket League was my last game purchase of 2017. Time to hibernate my wallet.
I did the humongous mistake of buying Worms Revolution on PlayStation 3 on launch day 5-6 years ago. It was a ridiculously bad game - so much stuttering, frame drops, low resolution, and jaggy polygons, that I immediately regretted my purchase. Add to that, the UI was a mess! The smallest and simplest change in customisation menu when setting up a match could take anything from 5-20 button presses, and 10-30 seconds.
Of course, the developers never fixed the game.
Donkey Kong Country Returns, a Wii game, looked and performed far better!
I am not buying any Worms game on launch ever again.
Maybe on a sale.
But likely never.
I'd love to play another worms game as it's been a couple of years for me, but for 30€ I'll need to see a physical release.
@blockfight Thanks, your numbers seem better. I was wondering if something Brexit related happened. I'm still not sure what happened in Canada a couple of years back where all games seemingly went up $10 literally over night and consoles went up $100. Pound must be 1/2 the Candanian $ now. Or the other way around, I always forget how to say that even when I have the numbers. (Checked, and not quite, these prices are just off.)
For anyone interested - Worms WMD is currently $29.99 on the digital US PSN ("Playstation Network" for you Nintendo only gamers) $39.99 on the Canadian store, so you can all be happy you don't live and game in Canada.
Wow, super surprised $29.99 seems to be pricey to people here. I looked at the £19.99 price and thought it was an absolute steal! I have the game on my mac and it is worth WAY more. It's one of the best renditions of Worms yet! A true return to form with classic physics
Finally! 10.7GB space left, enough room for Worms! Price is right for the best multiplayer game ever made! This is perfect birthday present for myself(25.11)! Happy days!
The original worms was the first game i played (i think past is a little hazy) on the ps1 have played most if not all of the 2d worms games i never got into the 3d worms games so this is a must have for me
@Kalmaro More than life itself.
@ThanosReXXX can't really be tired of something that hasn't come out recently
Though I think one game came out somewhat recently and I didn't like it as much.
Goodness. I'm definitely going to require a large SD card at some point in the near future should this trend continue.
I love Worms but I was hoping this would be $20. I'll see
@Scapetti I paid around £10 for it on PC, so yes it’s expensive imo. On Steam it’s the same price as this, but Steam prices are inflated these days
@GoldenGamer88
Too ... busy with ... all those games ... can't take ... all of this ... at once
Back on your feet soldier! You can... And you will!
Dig deeper in that wallet. Failure is not an option.
@JaxonH What ... wallet? I sold it ... to pay for ... Rocket League uff ...
Not bad! Satisfied both with price (for once, it's cheaper in the UK, which is unbelievable) and file size. Will definitely be getting this at some point, maybe even day one
Day one purchase for me!! We have 3 Switches at the office now, so we can have 6 players (pass the console mode option aside) and a 4th Switch might arrive shortly.
Yet another November release. Nintendo are coming for our wallets this month.
I've had a Worms game for every console since the Sega Saturn. Does this version of Worms have online multiplayer?
