It's hard to say what Onion Games are best known for. It might be their newer games, like meta-RPG Dandy Dungeon, which is about game development, or satirical RPG Moon, which is old enough to have been Toby Fox's inspiration for Undertale, but only came out in the West last year. It might be that you know Onion Games' founder, Yoshiro Kimura, who was the producer for Little King's Story and both No More Heroes games on the Wii.
Or, perhaps, you know Onion Games as the studio that has the power to remake cult favourites Chulip and Rule of Rose - a game in which you make friends by kissing them, and a horror game that freaked out the British media so much that it was eventually banned in the UK. Yoshiro Kimura's games have quite the range.
In a survey posted to Onion Games' Twitter, the developers asked their fans and followers to complete a survey before the 7th March, letting them know what they want the studio to work on next. The options include a remake of Chulip or Rule of Rose, a concert of Moon's music, and a new RPG that the studio has been working on. Kimura says that this will be his "last RPG".
Onion Games also posted a statement within the survey to their fans:
Hello to everyone all over the world,
This is Onion Games.
2020 was a tough year for everyone, but — thanks to your support — we were able to release moon in English for the first time, along with a physical release of Black Bird!
Over the past year, we've been running a survey to learn more about our fans. Now, for 2021, we'd love to hear your thoughts and opinions on what you wish Onion would release next, especially among our lineup of older, pre-Onion, legacy games.
Porting older games is always a huge challenge for us, and we can't 100% guarantee that any of these options can happen. But, even if a port only has a 1% chance of coming together, your vote could be a big step in making that dream come true!
We’re looking forward to hearing what you think, and will publish the results of the survey after everyone has a chance to vote!
With love,
Onion Games
What would you like to see next from Onion Games? Take the survey to let them know, of course, but tell us about it in the comments when you're done.

Rule of Rose, absolutely. Would be interesting to see it under new graphics as it was a very obscure game back then.
I guess kudos to them for focusing on remaking games that sound great on paper but are an absolute nightmare to play.
Let’s see Rule of Rose come back, times have definitely changed enough for it to get a release in the UK.
Rule of Rose, absolutely, no question. A hidden gem on the PS2, in a genre full of hidden gems that generation.
would LOVE to see UFO: A Day in the Life and Chulip get a re-release, Moon Remix RPG was such a delight last year.
I'd kill for a proper Little King's Story sequel. In theory that will never happen since no one bought the original game, but they already made another game for Vita and they ported it to PC so...who knows?
@Bearzilla823 you just described Clue
oops i guess I sort of did lol
@nessisonett honestly, it seemed like the reasons for banning it were a bit... spurious. Mostly just moral panic fuelled by tabloids. I could be wrong, though!
@KateGray Oh absolutely, it was pretty silly that it was even banned.
Here’s a quote from the British regulatory body in response:
“I have no idea where the suggestion of in-game sadomasochism has come from, nor children being buried underground. These are things that have been completely made up.”
A port or remaster of Rule of Rose would be awesome. Chulip as well. Already filled out the survey.
I’d love to see Chulip made more widely available. I’ve heard... less than stellar things about Rule of Rose but it’d be nice to have on Switch as a curio that never came to the UK.
rule of rose and chulip would be cool...but UFO isn't in english yet, so I think that takes precedence
Black Bird was released physically?!
Am I the only one that wants to see this developer spread their wings more? Re-releases are fine, I'd be interested to see their older stuff... but Black Bird makes me wonder what else they can do...
I'd loooove to finally play Chulip. Looks like a great intersection of design philosophies between Animal Crossing and Chibi-Robo.
